My friend Karen sent me this video of Good Day Philadelphia’s Alex Holley and Mike Jerrick opening and eating the viral 10 pound two foot tall Costco chocolate bunny. I watched it and got so jealous! I know this is like a mid-level American type of chocolate but how awesome would it be to hold this and take a giant bite out of an ear?
The Maud Borup Giant Chocolate Bunny, who goes by Pete, is available at Costco with a price of either $112.97 on their website or $134.95 – $139.99 in person. It’s gone viral and there are plenty of influencers consuming it for content. Arizona Central has more:
10 pounds. Almost 2 feet tall. Requires a hammer, mallet or rolling pin.
That’s not an Ikea lamp. It’s an enormous chocolate bunny Costco is selling for Easter. The semi-solid bunny – made of milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate – contains roughly the same amount of chocolate as 105 Hershey’s bars.
Pete the Bunny, as the packaging names him, “is 10 pounds of smooth, rich chocolate-turned-centerpiece basket, showstopper and egg-stagram sensation.”
Minnesota-based candy company Maud Borup, which makes the bunny, told USA TODAY that it’s only available at Costco. Social media reactions to the bunny range from enamored to amused to annoyed at the price tag, which runs from $112 to $140.
The chocolate bunny is so big, the packaging also includes instructions on how to approach actually eating it, preferably by smashing or slicing.
If you have a hammer, mallet or rolling pin, “wrap Pete in a towel and give one bold whack.” If you prefer to slice it, warm up a serrated bread knife, dry it and then “cut gently, ears or feet first is up to you.”
AZ Central goes on to report that Pete has 151 servings of 150 calories to total 22,650 calories. Would you buy this massive Easter Bunny? I would definitely bring Pete to an Easter party. It’s not a party until someone shows up with an edible. Imagine the fun of cracking into this giant chocolate masterpiece. I would also eat this bad boy, as long as I got to be the first one to take a bite. It’s sure to get gross and grubby after a few people have their mitts on it.
Someone on Reddit said there’s a $70 4.4 pound Easter Bunny that would be more than sufficient for feeding a party. The giant chocolate Easter Bunny isn’t available for shipping (in my area), but Costco has a gourmet Easter basket that’s just $50 if you’re looking for an easy one-stop solution for Easter. Yes.
🙂. I’m afraid I would, too! Which is why I’m not buying him. But it would be fun to take him to a large gathering.
Get back to me when it’s a giant Reese’s egg
With the week I’ve been having I would eat three. It might take me a few days, but I would do my best.
It is very cute but I would not be able to finish this within even a month
$14 a pound. Hmmm…steak or the bunny? 🤔 I’m going with the bunny!
