Months ago, the Daily Mail’s Alison Boshoff was sadly the first to proclaim that a “Reverse Megxit” was in the works. It turns out, she was right. I hate that. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will relocate to the UK in a matter of days, and their children will start school in Britain next month. Boshoff is taking a victory lap, even though a big chunk of her original reporting turned out to be false. Still, she was correct about the most significant part, which is why (I guess) we have to take her latest piece seriously. Some highlights:
Harry was never anti-Britain: ‘What is absolutely crucial is that Harry never fell out of love with Britain – he fell out of love with the circumstances he found himself living in, and those are very different things,’ Harry’s friend Alex Rayner, who went with him on a charity trek to the North Pole in 2012, and remains in regular contact with him, told the Daily Mail.
The American Dream is over: Others speak of ‘an increasing and significant shift in sentiment, a feeling the American dream might not be all it was cracked up to be’. And it’s not a one-sided sentiment either: ‘This is coming from Meghan as well as from him. I hear that Meghan is all for rekindling with and reconnecting with Harry’s English side. She is fully behind it,’ a friend said. ‘Harry has never stopped being British or feeling British.’
A forever return? Not that the move back should be seen as a whim, however. Although the pace of the shift took everyone by surprise (the King, we are told, only learned of his youngest son’s plans on Sunday), everyone insists it’s a serious – and permanent – move. ‘It’s a significant return and I think a forever return if I’m being brutally honest,’ the friend added. That’s quite an about-turn. And that July visit to the UK was, it is understood, pivotal to decisions being made – and to schools being visited – although plans were actually being made as long ago as May.
The kids loved spending time with family: The family enjoyed their time, however brief, with the King and Queen at Highgrove and are understood to have loved being with the family of Harry’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The children, for whom the UK must feel a distant place that Daddy talks about, may not have caught up with their uncle William (a sibling froideur yet to be addressed), nor with their cousins Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, but they did apparently meet their aunts, uncles and cousins on their father’s mother’s side.
The Sussexes have been planning this since May: Indeed, we are told that so advanced are the couple’s plans they have been looking at property ‘at quite a serious level’ and have been looking at schools for the children since before they broke up for the summer holidays. As a source close to the prince tells us: ‘They started to talk seriously about it at the beginning of the year and come May started to look at schools.’
Archie won’t go to boarding school (yet): It is, however, unlikely that Archie, just a baby when his parents moved to California in March 2020, will be boarding anywhere any time soon. The little boy, who speaks with an American accent and is sixth in line to the throne, will be, we are told, a ‘day boy’ at a mixed preparatory school and Lili, as she is affectionately known, will enter pre-prep at the same school. As our source says: ‘This is a natural moment as Archie will start prep school in year one. Harry knows from his time at Ludgrove that you want to start at the same time as everyone else; there is bonding and camaraderie. Archie is really, really keen on sport and will play rugby and cricket which will be new to him. Harry has been throwing a rugby ball with him in the garden in Montecito; it’s a pretty strange concept if you have grown up with the NFL!’
It’s looking like the Cotswolds: The location of the chosen school has not yet been revealed, but it is understood that it is not in London. It is highly likely to be somewhere in the Cotswolds, a location long favoured by the couple…. In the UK, we are told that, ‘initially, they are staying with someone’. But ‘they are looking to buy at a quite serious level which is a big commitment to putting down roots,’ says our source.
Visits to the US: Friends say the Sussexes plan to visit the US regularly, where they have endeavoured to build commercial portfolios free from the shackles from life as working royals. Harry currently earns money from business coaching company BetterUp and sustainable travel firm Travalyst and is also trying to expand the couple’s production company Archewell. He is reportedly keen to spend more time supporting charities including WellChild, Scotty’s Little Soldiers and, of course, the Invictus community he founded with the first Invictus Games in 2014.
Harry feels strongly about a British education: The couple’s businesses will still be based in the US and the move is about something more personal. ‘Meghan has long been aware that Harry wants to ground the kids in the UK and give them the values of that particular education, to be a good loser, a humble winner and so on,’ the friend said. There are other reasons too, he adds. ‘His father’s significant cancer also impacted on the decision; he realised the values of time and family.’ As our source close to the Sussexes says: ‘I know that it [the move] was discussed when he came to the UK to see Diana’s grave; that visit was also about going to see schools. ‘What Harry didn’t say was that it was definitely this September, but at that point they were eyeing a move back. This is not about royal life at all; it’s about family and the children being educated in the UK. Harry wants to ground his children in this country and to give them a strong understanding of where he grew up. It’s not about him trying to recreate what they had in 2020, it’s about establishing their private family life.’
This whole time, I’ve never really believed that Harry had strong feelings about British education or wanting his kids to go to British prep schools or boarding schools. But hey, maybe he does. It always feels so spon-conny when the British papers talk about it though, like they can’t wait to hype “a proper British education,” as if America has no equivalent. I know all of this is being heavily filtered through royalist media, but man, they really make Harry seem delusional about how difficult this transition is going to be in reality, like he can just plop his family in the Cotswolds and live a private life through sheer will. And if this is a permanent move… good lord.

I’m sorry to be this person – but I am deeply concerned they will catch her and the kids in a car and chase them to their deaths, photographing every moment.
They tried to kill the sussexes (and Doria) in nyc the one time they were allowed to see them publicly exit a place and get into a car.
Yep, I don’t know harry wants to forgive his father when he doesn’t need bother to know the kids or make any form of contact in past fews to know them. This is bizzare.
Also the way his father treated his mother.
exactly. and while guns in private hands might be scarce in Britain, acid attacks and stabbings are not.
I don’t understand how their American dream is death ? Meghan can only achievement is because of American. Lol I’m not even american , I know many friends and family members live in Europe and usa , by far usa is way better for poc. I know it’s shock to hear to fellow American, I know many of my cousins friends initially took job as doctors in uk buy they can’t and couldn’t move up the ladder like ever prominent position in their field.
Anyways as to sussex , I said in another thread, harry doesn’t seems even remotely interested in books or educations. I highly doubt that he cares about education where he and his brother studied in eton , his brother is dumber than rock, so does most of tories in uk. American school especially private school system is very good for networking even his best friend skipp something lives and work in usa.
This is purely harry wants to get back to bread and butter of royal job without it he is lost .
Good luck to meghan because she needed it most. She is going back to all fake stories , neighbour stories, school gossip etc. Plus I don’t belive that they have security even if they have security their schedule could be constantly leak to the press .
I agree with you honestly. This is is bizarre to me. It has to be about him going back to a semi-Royal life. He’s going to force them to have to do something about it and I just shake my head at him leading his family back into that pack of jackals again.
Did the fake stories about Meg ever stopped? It seems stories got more outrageous since they left the salty isle. The fake stories now include their children that even a supposedly serious and award winning press like the Guardian published a column which imagined how Archie and Liliana will turn up in London as student backpackers begging their uncle, King William, for a place to spend the night.
I think H&M realized they and their children are the golden goose for lazy journalism. There’s no effort to verify veracity in these columns. They are churned out on SM, YT, outlets as the gospel.
@Chenni
” by far usa is way better for poc”
At least 6 POC have been found dead by hanging in the US in the last year. Several POC have mysteriously drowned in the past few months in the US. POC are not safe in the US. The racism here is out of control since the orange mussolini has been in the gold lame oval office. Just want to be clear about that.
I’d also challenge the framing of “POC”. Megan is biracial but her treatement has been that of a black person.
The black expereince is singular and cannot easily be grouped within the “POC” label because of its distance from whiteness and the way that almost every other racial group engages in anti-blackness.
@Sunny, Meghan is Black. She has stated this publicly several times. Her mother is Black. Meghan gets to decide what to call it.
@anon, I’m not arguing that against Meghan getting to call herself whatever she wants. My bigger point was that the media has treated her and positioned her and couched her in the specific language of anti-blackness. And my larger point is that many, many black people, including myself don’t use the POC label because anti-blackness is so distinct and pervasive.
“harry doesn’t seems even remotely interested in books or educations”
WHAT??!!! Have you read Spare? Have you LISTENED to any of Harry’s speeches or interviews? He may not have a university degree, and he has admitted that he had not been keen on sitting in a room reading a book while at Eton, BUT once he grew up and gained some perspective that man absolutely DEVOURED books. And quite serious books as well. He has demonstrated deep knowledge of topics which can only come from reading and making huge strides in educating himself. And that is before we consider the VAST amount of reading that he would have needed to do in order to qualify as an Apache pilot, and by all accounts, graduating at the top of his class.
There are perceptions… and there are perceptions… far too many of which are absorbed unquestioningly from the UK media.
“This is purely harry wants to get back to bread and butter of royal job without it he is lost”
You need to listen to Harry’s actual words and not swallow the narratives which have been spread by the derangers and the UK media. You’ve almost certainly seen his interviews yet persist in ignoring his words. He is booked and busy, and certainly not “lost”. 😀
I read Spare, and I do not recall Harry ever saying he loved to read; quite the opposite. He loved sports, nature, adventure, the outdoors, and experiencing them all firsthand. These days he loves skiing, surfing, polo, and birdwatching, and any number of Invictus sports. Apache tech manuals are not literature, and at any rate he says in Spare his classroom learning for the Apache was extremely boring, he didn’t devour those books with glee. Also, he had a ghostwriter for Spare. And he has not availed himself of the opportunity to pursue a college degree. Which is fine. None of this means he is any less intelligent or articulate. But I think the original poster’s point still stands that Harry has never demonstrated any love of formal classroom education, so the idea that he has enormous respect for British schooling seems unfounded based on anything he’s ever said. Not to mention, there is no reason to believe that a fancy private school education in Britain is superior to one in the United States. All of this is just to say that I don’t think the children’s schooling is the issue at all, at least not in terms of the actual education given. Maaaaybe in terms of the elite social connections.
The anti Harry brigade are showing themselves all over on this. They’re not sussex supporters but Meghan stans. Let’s be honest.
Oh no, now alluding to the drama Death of the Salesman (re: the American Dream). They are really reaching here. Also Harry’s real friends don’t talk to the Daily Mail.
I this is all about visa issues for Harry and possibly the kids.
Harry and the children are all British citizens, Meghan is the only one who needs a visa and I bet that has already been sorted if it is necessary.
The kids shouldn’t have any visa issues given their ages and their citizenships in both countries. Lili especially wouldn’t have any visa issues in the US, given she was born in the US to an American citizen mother. Vice versa for Archie, born in UK to a UK citizen father.
Harry’s possible visa issue is another matter, with how deranged, demented, and erratic our POTUS is, and his followers. I think his visa is above board 100% but that wouldn’t stop court cases, investigations, etc that can be tiring.
Yeah I am with Kasier, they way this is being done shows it’s permanent. They said they were staying for the kids to complete school and it read as when they are old enough to go to boarding school. Good grief.
And yeah, I don’t want to be in America either right now, but I do wonder on how they are going to keep their kids hidden away since in CA there were laws about minors faces being shown.
I didn’t read Kaiser’s post as this move as being permanent at all. (That’s a lot of tea leaves reading- which at best isn’t all that reliable.)
Sure the move befuddles. Kinda think that’s the point.
You know much of what I read about this couple hasn’t been sourced well. There are rumors, gossips, imaginations piled on with the idea that repeated enough, they are true or some will stick. So I don’t doubt, if you say that Meg and Harry had a fight or disagree over stuff, I’d say sure, because real couple have disagreements and fights over things all the time. But for the press to speculate Harry is moving back means he’s planning to leave Meg or a desire to be a ‘working’ royal (if William is the standard of working royal then I can see why there’s a need for Harry— hahaha) again or other royal bs….and make money off such “news”, then readers need to adjust their belief.
There are laws in Britain about the press showing childrens faces as well. We’ll only see the kids faces if that is what Harry and Meghan want.
“They said they were staying for the kids to complete school ”
Really? When did Harry and Meghan say this? Because while the British media, grasping this lifeline which they have been thrown, have been running around gleefully speculating to make themselves appear to be “in the know”, the Sussexes have been very quiet since someone (NOT them) leaked the news of their impending move to the UK.
Reputable news media have said that this is a temporary move. They had always intended to spend part of the year in the UK, and part in the US, the way many wealthy families do. It is not unusual, it does not mean that they are leaving the US for good. It does not mean that they want to return to “royal duties”.
This is an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT opportunity for Harry & Meghan to temporarily relocate to 🇬🇧…between work…family…getting TF out of 🇺🇸 fascist state…it just makes sense to take THIS opportunity to TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY! And think about being able to have his children around his Inviticus family & being able to get a close up of bringing the event together WITHOUT flying back & forth & doing Zoom meetings..this is his homecoming event so I’m happy they have chosen to make it a family affair ✨️
Can he really trust Charles though? And there is the “threat” of Scooter, who is MAGA.
I mean sure, I’ll believe it why not? “they really make Harry seem delusional”, he doesn’t make it hard. I’ve been saying this for a while and people get mad. He can’t let go of the royal life. Meghan is adult and she loves her husband. So he’s not forcing her. So it is what it is and we can only wish them well.
Yes thank you. This is what I’m saying that harry didn’t transition his life beyond royal. He is the one very keen on sussex going on quasi royal tour etc. He didn’t seems to develop any interest beyond what his royal life is. He is not curious about life because if he was he could have made something in usa. For example with his knowledge about horse etc he could’ve farm horse for races or polo or even non profit animal farm etc. He didn’t and he wants minimum work which is royal bread and butter type charity where other people do all sorts work these royal just show up for photo and take all the credits etc.
You two are fans? Very weird sh!t to say if so.
@Chenni, wow your comment reads like the ones on DM.
It’s interesting to see whenever there’s a piece about M&H that might make their supporters pause or disagree these comments appear to belittle the couple or say with coy words like “there’s something about her/him that I can’t put a finger on, that bothers me”. Or comments to split readers between US vs the world camp.
Anon and kit , it’s ok to disagree with sussex that doesn’t make us racist or haters. Harry is the one come out said unconscious bias and he is one keen on having good relationship with his racist father who try to keep sussex away and didn’t protect archie and meghan.
@Chenni: I wouldn’t say Harry isn’t curious about life, and I also think his charity work is real, not just photo ops. But he has kept his life royal focused. Even after living in the US for over six years, he hasn’t broken out of the royal mould. He had enough time in the US to get a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in any fields he chose. California has an excellent University system. I wish he had taken advantage of that. He’s intelligent and hard working. I think being born royal was more of a curse than a blessing.
I don’t think it’s delusional for him to struggle to break out of the Royal mode. He was raised in the institution and only left it when he was well on his way to 40. It’s probably just part of his constitution at this point.
As to going to graduate school, that doesn’t seem like a fit for him either. He’s smart, but not in a way that is suited to academia. And he had other things going on, even if they didn’t all work out.
Look, I get that a lot of people here just want to let Harry be Harry. Fine. But there are others here like myself who are anti-monarchy and had so much hope that Harry would make a clean break. Instead, he’s doubling down on monarchy and aristocracy and the British establishment. It’s kinda crushing. Lots of people are raised one way but end up rejecting that and choosing another way. Our fates aren’t frozen at birth. Unless he totally identifies his country with the monarchy, it’s possible to love his country and reject its hidebound institutions.
As for a University education in the States, that not only would have given him qualifications beyond “prince of the blood” which doesn’t qualify you for much in the 21st century, but it would have broadened his own horizons and opened up more opportunities for him and his family. His own wife is an example here. With her excellent educational credentials, she became a self made millionaire before she ever met Harry.
Meghan seems more intelligent than any of those royals and she had a California Catholic education.
It’s not about intelligence, it’s elitist cultural references.
Michaelmas, cricket, Cowes and Henley regatta, how to pronounce Beauchamp and Belvoir…
Remember the Middleton sisters were laughed at, and they went to ‘proper’ school.
There is a huge school snobbery in the Uk in some circles. It’s not academic, it’s cultural.
I must be half cultural, I knew Belvoir but not Beauchamp.
Yup. Education isn’t limited to the classroom for the wealthy. It is about cultural references, and networks, etc.
Or to pronounce: Featherstonhaugh as Fanshaw.
‘Reading’ the place, as: Reding.
Southwark as: Suthak
Yeah, I’ll take Meghan’s Northwestern U. education over whatever William and Kate received as a so-called “British education.
The royals are severely under-educated, and I include their sacred cow Elizabeth II in that statement.
“Sacred cow” omg 🤣😂🤣 the way that was tossed in at the end and just sat there 😂
Sorry, but this really annoys me because it confirms exactly what I was saying about Harry. He remains so attached to the British establishment and the education he received that he genuinely wants to reproduce that model with his own children.
“Accept defeat, be humble in victory”… fine, but what about everything else that comes with this particular establishment-style British education? The class system, hierarchy, the imperial mindset, and the way British history and the Empire have traditionally been presented? You cannot completely separate these values from the environment that produced them.
I have no doubt that Harry genuinely sees this education as something positive. That is precisely where the problem lies. He was raised to see this system as normal, respectable and desirable, and he seems very reluctant to question it.
And now he wants to bring his own children, who grew up in California, into that same system, with a Black American grandmother and a mixed-race mother. Meghan and the children will never experience British society in exactly the same way Harry did. Harry grew up at the very top of that hierarchy and benefited from it from birth.
Honestly, I think he risks passing on a huge amount of frustration to his children rather than giving them the advantages he thinks he is giving them. He is bringing them into a system where their status will always be complicated: they will be members of the Royal Family, but they will not have the same position or opportunities within the institution as the people at the top of the hierarchy.
That is what makes me think of the York sisters. They grew up with all the expectations, symbolism and scrutiny that come with being part of the Royal Family, but without having a clearly defined role within the institution. I can easily imagine Archie and Lilibet eventually experiencing a similar kind of frustration — being constantly reminded of the world they belong to while having very little control over the place they actually occupy within it.
And honestly, I don’t understand why Harry and Meghan would want that for them. They have the opportunity to grow up in California, in a much more diverse environment, and to build their own identities and careers without being so constrained by the British royal hierarchy. Why deliberately bring them back into a system that has already caused him so much frustration?
Yes I agree especially what you say about yorks sister where they grow up in uk buy entire life they were mocked and ridicule by both press and people. They didn’t have very good experience in uk too. Plus none of the royal and extended family have any normal job beyond royal . Like no enginner or doctor or anything. All seems very dull and they have no curiosity or interest beyond that life.
Plus we have seen where all the yorks, zara, peter and everyone seems to struggle and secretly having royal handouts.
Atleast in usa the kids know and see how to hustle and be normal and grind and thrist for life . In uk all seems to keep themselves small to elevate dumb heir and his family.
@Line and Chenni: bless your hearts. You’re about to be swarmed. But you are both correct.
@line, this is great take. I do think for all the changes Harry has made, he remains tied into the british establishment.
He belives in monarchy. That has been quite clear over the years. We will never know and can only guess how tied into that identity he remains- a blood prince of the realm, descended from a line of kings and queens and raised in those institutions.
His love and marrying of Meghan was an act of defiance against everything he was raised to represent. But on some level, it might be assumed that his choice wasn’t a repudiation of the system but proof that his standing gave him the ability to be an exception within it.
Anyway, I hope their beautiful family stays safe and that they can enjoy the kind of quality of life they had in California. I do think that will be hard to achieve because I think to your point, Meghan and the children may never be fully accepted.
I think the biggest motivator was family. They were pretty alone in California despite some friends. His father and his mom’s family and all the Spencer aunts, uncle, and first cousins.
So Doria didn’t count?
Ok so we’ll pin this thing that people supposedly know for sure about Harry for a year’s time shall we? Can’t wait to revist all these comments from certain people. People have really shown what they are over this move.
Eish! Can people just be having an opinion that’s different from your? “People have really shown themselves. ” you said. Shown themselves? Not everything comes from a sinister place, they are simply giving their opinions based on their observations just as you are. Despite Trump being your president people are still free to have their opinions and to state those opinions from what they have seen, just like you. Everyone here is giving their opinion which despite being different have some valid points. All of this is still conjecture…so I don’t understand this puffing your chest saying, ” I can’t wait for a year from now what these people will be saying.” Why? Everyone is doing guess work 🙄 😒 some of these guesses will be right and some guesses will be wrong. So what, who cares? 😕 sigh.
Public school british men have built into them that Britain is the superior country.
I went into one of those schools, and basically the idea was that Europe/States was ok for uni, but British culture is the best.
I bet somewhere Harry is bothered his children have an American accent.
Here’s the catch — I went to the US equivalent of a UK “public” — read: private, boarding — school, albeit, mine was co-ed, by order of the courts that heard a petition to integrate girls and granted it in the 1970s. That is what remains unique about the UK school scene — the gender segregation. I *really* wonder if all this drama about Sussex relocation and Meghan in general isn’t attributable more to misogyny than racism. It’s definitely mix, it’s a bad blend, but, that is the single biggest contrast to the royal houses in the EU, if you’re looking for points of comparison — whether it be Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark ….it’s the women who stand out, and in the UK they seem to be stuck in some pre-Victorian state of thwarted rage and impotent frustration about the fact that women / girls get attention, and to assume that women / girls should be faceless, anonymous, decorous, fragrant, and essentially vapid, like Kate. And they then don’t like them. And then they wonder why they don’t like them or find them good company. Feminism produces women with better character and more companionable people in general. That’s a big blind spot for the UK. Also — I suspect fwiw that this move was partially motivated but tax laws. After 7 years — as another commentator mentioned — green card holders become subject to the IRS as if they were US citizens. At that point, most just either go home or become US citizens, if you’re staying stateside, it just makes sense. But if you want to maintain a legal residence abroad, you need to leave every seven years, for about 12 months. If you’re out of the US for more than 2 years, I think that jeopardises your green card. Less than 2 years, you can come and go and retain your green card, but any assets you own abroad remain beyond the reach of the IRS. I don’t think Harry is being mercenary here, just prudent. I suspect he wants to spend time with Charles whilst he is still alive, to prepare for Invictus, and to vindicate his family’s right to reside in his home country. I suspect he wants to set the record straight. Most choices people make don’t have a single logic but multiple strands that form a plait.
The children will soon be talking English and well as American. They are young enough to do so and will be able to keep it for life. If they find both convenient.
‘The children will soon be talking English and well as American.’
Eh?
I think this is about visas for Harry and possibly the kids. Perhaps also about citizenship.
The Children are British as well as American, Meghan will have already sorted out a visa for the UK for herself and as long as Trump has gone there will be no problems about Harry getting another one. Harry is an asset to the US.
There are different types of visas, my friend.
Depending on the type of visa Harry has he might be expected to complete renewal paperwork that requires him to leave the U.S. for a period of time.
Perhaps tbey want Meghan to obtain British citizenship and she needs to live in the U.K. for a period of time in order to do that.
Plum Sykes was on her nitwit brother’s YouTube show last night, talking about what life is like for their social circle who live in the Cotswolds and the school they’re speculating Archie and Lili will be attending – which Plum’s own children attended.
Good grief, I know Harry and Meghan inhabit a completely different world but Plum makes it sound so completely alien and so regulated by “rules” and a level of snobbishness that sounds appalling.
the only person in this article I’m taking seriously is Alex Rayner, who is actually named, and had a reasonable comment.
No source close to the Sussexes is running to the DAILY MAIL to explain how Harry thinks the education system is better in the UK than the US because you learn how to be a gracious winner and loser in the UK (really? did william learn that??)
Thank you. That made me chuckle too. That’s certainly been my impression of GB as a country over the years, full of gracious losers and humble winners (/s). In an article humble bragging about how special a British education is vs. American.
I’m interested in the comments I’ve read about tax and immigration status and how that might relate to H&M’s plans. I’d like to know more, but I tried reading parts of the UK revenue code a few years back trying to figure out the meaning of “domicile”, and freely admit understanding it was above my pay grade.
Becks, thank God for you and being reasonable because so many have gone straight delulu.
I think this winter the kids will miss the Californian warmth! It will definitely be a big change for them. I wonder if, very secretly & never to be announced, Charles has contributed to their security? Also RAVEC has to re-examine their security needs as they will be residents now and not just visitors.
These desperate tabloids and their sound-bitey takes: “American Dream” – what nonsense.
Harry and Meghan didn’t move the the US to pursue any American Dream, they fled a hostile country and its racist, race baiting media. Not quite the same thing.
🎯
I think way too much speculation is made by the media about this move. Harry and the kids (I suspect) have UK citizenships. So why can’t they live in the UK for a year? Meg is there with them ‘cause they are a family. Harry and Meg may very well want their kids to get to know the British side of the family. They have the means to do so. So why can’t they move? It’s way better to live there while Charles is alive than when William is the raging king.
Here’s the thing. Daily the Sussexes get more column space than the US-Iran war. The major press like NYT can’t write the truth about POTUS and all the corruption. They care barely call out WH’s lies as lies in case the AG sues them for a trillion $. So H&M is the perfect news deflection for everybody— a great deflection from the sh*t economy for the 99.9% of the world’s population who aren’t rich or billionaires. (Or news like when DM got caught in stalking and misidentifying a woman in a story posted by DM senior correspondent, Joe Hutchison— see this crazy story https://www.theguardian.com/music/2026/aug/21/meg-white-daily-mail-white-stripes)
With H&M, the press can write with full on imaginings based on anonymous source (that will never be verified). That’s already the standard the press applies to people who can’t fight back or are smeared daily by a small group of press that makes a good living off gossips. You know the living is good when NYT has 3 columns on H&M in one day and barely any news on the wildfires destroying a huge chunk of the taiga in Siberia for example. Barely a blurb on the big trade negotiation going on between US, Mexico and Canada and the ramifications to North America if there’s a failure. Or track down why the too many big outbreaks of food borne illnesses in US food system this year? I mean for most Americans the pain of how much grocery, utilities, rent, and gas gonna cost aren’t going to be forgotten just because of lurid H&M stories. These stories are quickly published throughout the day by a bunch of let’s make a quick buck royal correspondents that it seems it’s AI generated or while they are picking their teeth for chunks of human gristle (see, I can write with imaginings too).
Seriously, read through these columns and compare. It doesn’t matter which outlets or platforms or how hoity toity, there are similar language and tone used. Lots of derisions, OTT praises and criticisms. Rarely a well thought, balanced or well researched piece appears? Why is that?
Personally, I think AI will end up with the news writing, especially when columns can be penned from musings, imaginations, and anonymous sources.
Since much of the reporting is based on anonymous sources and various columnists’ imaginations, do readers ever question why? No wonder there are so many speculations. Enough to fill up lotsa and lotsa of paychecks for sure. Or at least until AI can takeover this beat. lol.
I initially felt like this was a temp living situation so that Prince Harry could work on preparations for Invictus without having to spend the next year flying back and forth, but it appears it’s a more permanent move. I really feel like Meghan was happy living in California far away from the scene of the toxicity she had to endure before, so I’m concerned for her. Even if she remains way under the radar they’re going to find something to attack her for and try to send her packing. Not sure how this will all play out.
The “American Dream” doesn’t have to be restricted to America. It’s also a state of mind – that trying is a positive thing, like “go for it.” And for some reason, people think that if you’re not Bezos or Musk, you’re not successful – but H&M have been very successful in the US by any normal human measures. There’s no reason why they wouldn’t continue that way in the UK.
Just more anti-American bulls*** from the British press. H&M had the best American dream imaginable fulfilled, one that 99% of Americans will never attain. And what, pray tell, is the British dream? Boarding school lol? At the end of the day, if you’re rich and connected enough, no matter where you live, all your dreams can come true.
I sorry but Meghan isn’t British and she still managed to have an excellent education . Harry might have gone to
The best schools but he himself said he wasn’t into the learning part . So forgive me if I don’t buy this crap about you have to go to school in the uk if you want a good education. If a child has the determination to learn , then it makes no difference where they go to school. British education the best education in the world my ass. I know plenty of Brit’s and they are a good set of dim ones among them . I still don’t see how Harry and Meghan plan to keep the British papers from publishing pictures of those children, but good luck to them . They will
Not be awarded the privacy that Willy kids get , lily and Archie are going to be stalked until the media gets the pictures of them that they have been craving for years . Especially considering how the British press hates Harry and Meghan and will not protect them the way they protect Willy and kitty
So he wants to give his kids boarding school syndrome?
It’s pretty insane what happens to these poor kids at boarding school. Since moving here and having it be my dating circles, I feel like Im at a buffet of the DSM V, and the heartbreaking thing is they all know something is wrong but not how to change it.
I have never heard of boarding school syndrome. I know it’s not an official designation or anything but it does seem to represent a specific type of mentality. Like how eldest daughters often have so much in common – and not always in a good way.
There are just specific sets of circumstances that can result in many individuals having had to make very similar decisions to survive the circumstances. And then they intentionally unlearn them and find that across a generation of people – they have these things in common.
It’s fascinating.
Since this is the DM, it wouldn’t be fair to conclude that Harry is a bit of a snob based on this article alone. However, this article does closely track a story from last year in which a named friend recounted a conversation with him in which he praised the British education system and said he wanted his kids to have a British education. Of course, none of us believed it. I think we have assumed a lot about Harry. Since he is so much better in some ways than other family members, we have always seen him as having successfully risen above the same system which produced his father and brother. I’m starting to rethink that. Archie in a British boarding school at some point? YIKES 😳!
So much ado about probably very little. They are retaining their home in Montecito. They just purchased a home in Portugal. They are looking for a home in England. They have the means to live wherever they like, and stay as little or as long as they like.
I don’t believe that this move is because Harry has some concern about an American dream or him having a high regard to the UK educational system over the U.S. educational system. First of all they named one supposed friend but the moment they describe how Harry and Meghan must feel about the American dream or the educational system in the states and UK, suddenly another unnamed friend is mentioned. An unnamed friend who conveniently spoke to the daily fail of all papers about a move that we only learned about a couple of days ago. Harry spoke highly about Meghan’s education compared to his in his book, and I doubt that he would see one country’s education better than another country’s education since he has never experienced the educational system in the U.S. and since he wasn’t very interested in education in the first place. They don’t know anything about the Sussex children and what interest they may or may not have, which is why they mention rugby and cricket as Archie’s sporting choices and assume that he had any interest in the NFL, as if soccer isn’t a sport played in the United States as well as in the UK. They don’t know anything and they are just making assumptions and if any of it comes true we are to believe they knew all along. I’ll make the prediction that Archie will wear pants while in the UK and when he does I want to be paid by the fail for my journalism.
I was listening to a sussex squad YouTube channel and he keeps saying the same thing that Harry is moving his kids back for a British education, first off that’s speculation and secondly, Archie is 7 and lily is 5 . Their serious education in the uk doesn’t begin to about the age of 11 and 13 for gcse class prep to really begin . so they have time if that’s why Harry and Meghan are indeed moving back.
I don’t post very often, but I’m a veteran when it comes to reading here!
I genuinely think they want their own version of Britain — one where they can be present and visible, but without being under the same restraints or control of William and, to an extent, Charles.
And I don’t think Charles is a silly man. Whether it’s about how he sees his own legacy or the future of the monarchy, I suspect he understands that the situation now is very different from the last time Harry and Meghan actually lived in Britain. Back then there were huge constraints on what they could say, how they could respond and how much control they had over their own narrative. Those constraints have largely gone.
The press and the Royal Family will play things exactly as they always have, but the difference now is that Harry and Meghan can answer back. For me, that was one of the biggest things missing before — they were being talked about constantly while being expected to remain silent.
I also think their children matter enormously in all of this. Archie and Lilibet are the King’s grandchildren, Prince and Princess in their own right, and I don’t think Harry and Meghan will want their children’s birthrights or legitimacy within that family quietly minimised simply because they live in America.
It feels to me as though they may want a relationship with Britain again — just very much on their own terms this time.
I’ve said this before the U.S. esp California gave HM a safety net esp from the toxicity of that environment in the UK. That’s just facts. For 6+ years they were also able to grow their businesses in the US. I’m still thinking their move back to the UK was because of HMs own terms not that country’s 🤦♀️. And the derangers are prob psst off that HM are moving back more successful than they left that island.
What’s a British education? Grammer? Cause england is doing bad at the moment. Didnt have to be but the Elite Education Guys couldn’t make brexit work. They fumbled Covid so bad if another pandemic happened no one will wear a mask.
A California carefully managed k-12 and a California community college education doesn’t sound bad at all.
So, it is now being reported that Meghan might join the cast of a Netflix show called The Gentlemen which is being filmed in the UK. If this is true, I’m glad for her and I hope it works out. As for the endless speculations by the British media that know absolutely nothing and write fiction, I pity them. For the past few days, they have paddled all kinds of stories as to why the Sussexes are moving back. Now, with this new news, they will start creating and writing a whole new set of lies.
Again so the same press who even call it a shock move as they didn’t know in advance suddenly know it all & all their thoughts on it? Just seems like usually more discerning types including on sm suddenly believe tabloids who have been unreliable & I think it’s due to confirmation bias
It’s hard to call most media credible but ones regarded as such like bbc and itv have said they understand that the move is temporary which is in line with initial reports that the relocation was for an extended period and that they will keep Montecito home. So all this talk about giving up the American dream just seems like the uk tabloids self soothing.
I disagree that this is a permanent move.
They’re keeping Montecito.
They’re keeping the Portugal property.
But they will be in the UK for longer than a year. Logically, four to five. That’s how long it will take for Georgie to reach the age of majority and no longer require Uncle Harry to be Regent.
I suspect everything is being put in train now while Charles is still mentally capable to ensure and direct a smooth transition, including getting Harry up to speed about his role and how he should delicately guide, inform and teach Charles’ new successor.
Charles will of course, have the backing of the government on this (who matter more than the power hungry stuffed shirts of the Royal Household).
This would also explain why William has been very deliberately excluded from meetings and summits involving Charles and Harry starting with February 2024.
Why it seemed that, as soon as Charles needed his future heir and to begin planning for succession, they seemed to no longer be speaking to one another.
And why certain courtiers have found themselves on the outs as well.
The handwringing in these comments are so weird. Like, it could be as simple as Chuck is about to kick the bucket and Harry doesn’t want to regret not being there at the end.
Or WW3 is about to breakout.
Why not both?
🤷🏻♀️🤣😭
We left England because we didn’t want our kids to grow up in its class-bound society.
But then my husband was middle-class, not royal.
I hate this. Except for the making-W&K-miserable part.
Sigh. The Daily Mail’s 10th-rate mind-reading failing spectacularly yet again. harry-Meg’s Cali-escape under the Covid gun (Thanks, St Tyler of Perry) worked out damn spectacularly anyway you slice it. Have Brit commentators ever had a real handle on what the Sussexes’ immediate, midterm or long term goals & hard work even were after fleeing UK. The BM is unwilling/incapable of fully, fairly or accurately grasping what H & M attempted/experimented with —much less accomplished. Such as producing the largest selling non-fiction print/audio book in history, a #1Netflix doc, several wildly successful Invictus Games, a bunch of very successful philanthropic AND business projects/investments, several boffo global tours, an award-winning podcast & cooking show, Exec producing small docs in 6 years. Plus securing a young family, That’s just a partial list! Christ, which critics accomplished anything close LOL! COME ON…For anyone else, just ONE of those accomplishments would be plenty.
Keen and scooter have not changed. And scooter probably wants to drive meghan and the children away so harry can be the so called wing man
Keen is still a mean girl
