Duchess Meghan is in ‘early stages’ conversations about a role in ‘The Gentlemen’

Tina Brown and Bronte Coy got the ball rolling late last week, announcing that the Duchess of Sussex was coming back to acting. Not only that, they claimed that Meghan had already gotten a job on a British production and the job was one of the reasons why the Sussexes planned on returning to the UK for an extended period. Deadline followed up with their exclusive: Meghan does not have the job locked down, but she’s in talks for a role in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, Season 3. Which hasn’t been written yet because Netflix hasn’t renewed for a third season.

Meghan Markle may be teaming up with Guy Ritchie for her return to acting. As a report started circulating Friday morning that she has been “offered a role in an upcoming project based in the UK,” I hear that the former Suits star is in talks to join Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen for Season 3.

Sources caution that the conversations are in early stages and are hypothetical at this point because The Gentlemen, starring Theo James, has not been renewed for a third season yet, though that is considered likely; its second season premieres Sept. 3. Additionally, no role has been identified so far, I hear.

While it’s unclear whether the talks would lead to a deal, Markle getting a showy part on The Gentlemen — which films in the UK — would make sense. The stunt casting would bring a lot of attention to the show, and potentially new viewers. And it’s in the family — Markle and Prince Harry have a first-look deal at Netflix, where they have projects in development across film and TV.

Word of the potential casting comes as Markle and Prince Harry, who have been living in California for the past six years, announced earlier this week that they would be returning to the UK for an extended period of time.

In Season 2 of The Gentlemen, set in the same world as Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax film, it’s been one year since Eddie (James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) joined forces to work together in Bobby’s (Ray Winstone) criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well.

[From Deadline]

The Hollywood Reporter had a somewhat similar exclusive, but instead of “the conversations are in early stages,” their sources say that Meghan is “in advanced discussions,” and the role is currently being written. They also say that Meghan has met Guy Ritchie via “mutual acquaintances.” I mean, probably their agents? But the point is that a lot of people were screaming “okay, this makes sense, this is why she agreed to go back to Salt Island!” No, it doesn’t! If this is happening (a big if), I guarantee that Meghan only started looking for work after she and Harry already decided to go back. I don’t think this is “the reason” why they’re moving.

And if all of this isn’t dumb enough, Tina Brown now claims that Ritchie withdrew the offer because of the “backlash” to Meghan. Yes, directors and producers famously loathe hiring people who will give their projects millions of dollars in free advertising. Literally, I had no idea that this show even existed before now. And you know what? I’m not going to get excited about any part of this until we hear that Meghan has signed on to a role and that the show has been renewed.

This is why I don’t believe that they are moving because of meghan or her work. She was very happy in sunshine cali and she could have easily got any role in hollywood of she wants. This is harry and his bizzare attachment to that racist family and racist country. Meg was thriving and so does kids in Cali.

    • ANON says:

Yes, Harry’s “bizarre” attachment to his one remaining parent who happens to have terminal cancer. So hard to understand ( /s )

      • Mightymolly says:

I am not a psychologist but I can relate to being semi estranged from an elderly parent and anticipating the potential for guilty feelings if things aren’t made right while there’s time. I understand the rationale for spending time in Britain right now, and it needing to correspond with a school year.

      • cosmo says:

Sometimes it’s harder to let go of a dying parent for whom you have unresolved feelings.

      • IFoxi says:

        What Cosmo said, 100%.

    • ABritGuest says:

Bizarre attachment to where he was born and country he served? And cmon in USA reversals of the gains made during the civil rights movement is in full effect given decisions another affirmative action, voting rights etc and there are various Black people being found ‘dead by hanging’ without proper investigation. If the uk is the OG of racism, Meghan’s home country is probably its biggest disciple & neither is a safe haven against racism.

No idea what to make of the gentleman story but it’s embarrassing that Sky News uk and the bbc etc had it as breaking news without seemingly any independent checks and trades like THR who claimed an exclusive about discussions for the role, are using one source (Brown’s substack) to claim it was withdrawn after a one day backlash. If anybody would know that didn’t happen and should have its own extensive contacts in the industry to verify the story it should be the trades so why push Tina brown’s crap? This goes to what I was saying about some US press being nasty to Meghan as well. Journalist standards and common sense just dropped if an anti Meghan angle can be pushed

I find it weird that Netflix, the production company, WME & Meghan’s sunshine sachs PR don’t seem to have commented on the story so far so maybe something else is happening in the background & we will know soon enough.

    • Kasztanka says:

      @chenni
It is enough that the media and the royals keep portraying Harry as a fool, even though at every turn—and in everything he does—he demonstrates that he is an intelligent, brilliant, courageous, and charismatic man with a strong moral compass. Meghan is much the same; they are a strong, cohesive team that works closely together and supports one another in both joint and individual endeavors. That is the case here, too. No one knows the reason for their decision—to this day, they haven’t said a word about it—so how can people criticize something they know absolutely nothing about?
If you like them and follow what they do, then trust them. They would never put themselves or their children at risk. There will always be attacks against them, regardless of the address . This wasn’t a rash decision; they had time to prepare suitable living and working conditions, as well as ensure their family’s safety. The reason must have been significant, and the timing right. They aren’t trapped like they were a decade ago; they can take their children and leave at any moment. They have somewhere to go. They have a safe home—even two. They are also very wealthy; money is no constraint for them. The move might have seemed shocking, but the reason behind it could prove to be even more shocking. Just be patient. 🙂

I’m currently rewatching season 1 of The Gentlemen. It’s a fun show and she’d make an interesting addition. Where’s the backlash?? The only backlash I’m hearing is from Ms. Brown herself. Why do they gotta ruin everything??

    • SunnyDays says:

I like ‘The Gentleman’ and was expecting a new season soon, but I guess it hasn’t been made yet! I could totally see Meghan and her acting style fitting in to the show and hope it works out.

It’s going to be hard for her to make these professional moves in the UK. The tabloids will have so many “sources” a.k.a people willing to talk to them and leak information, it’s going to create so many rumours.

      • sunny says:

I really like the gentleman. I think the tv adaptation is far better than Ritchie’s original movie, fun and glamourous. It did really really well for Netflix when the first season aired but it has been so long between seasons that if this casting was true, it would bring a lot of new eyeballs. Even a show that was in the top ten could benefit from that.

Having said that, I don’t think they are moving because of Meghan’s acting prospects. If it was really about that, then staying in California would be the obvious choice.

Also, the new season(season 2) has already been made and will air next month. I think they are likely a long way off from season three because there is no renewal as of yet and Netflix makes productions wait years between seasons.

    • Al says:

The backlash is in Tina’s head.

    • Lady Esther says:

It’s very simple: both Guy Ritchie and Meghan are repped by WME. I’m sure this was a no-brainer to at least have some discussions. And that’s even before the Netflix connections where Meghan and Harry are (despite reports) still thick as thieves with Ted Sarandos. Thanks, Ari Emmanuel!

What’s more interesting is that Ari Emmanuel through one of his other companies just bought a significant share of the UK’s West End theater assets in a deal worth billions…and it’s a safe bet that Meghan and Harry invested in the deal…

Meghan and Harry are starting to look like ducks in a pond: Pay attention to what happens above the surface! while those legs underneath swim and swim and swim, unbothered…

      • MaisiesMom says:

Ari Emmanuel really? I loved Jeremy Piven’s character in Entourage that was based on him. Such an over the top, fun representation of a talent agent.

      • Tiffi says:

Piven based ari on his agent. Ari Emanuel is mark wahlberg agent who entourage is based on. Later on piven signed with endeavor which turned into wme.

    • Bean says:

#2 On. my Yahoo news yesterday was about this and the offer being rescinded because of backlash. Regular people who don’t follow are seeing that headline and believing it. Reputational damage is being done and it’s incredibly frustrating.

  3. Kate says:

Why is her team not shutting this stuff down. She’s being dragged and trashed and it’s worse than it has been in years. Harry’s off doing veteran stuff and she’s being dragged in the media for a move she probably didn’t even start. They complained that when they were working royals they couldn’t set the record straight and defend themselves and now they willingly continue that.

    • Pearl says:

It’s not going to benefit Meghan to be in constant back-and-forth with the opposition. Let her sit tight for a moment.

    • Chenni says:

I don’t know why their pr always sucks. I mean when in my own country , I remember an actress hot divorced and was very slutshamed nonstop and than she hired local team and every since she is control of her content and she and her team won’t even allow press to publish her photo etc. They could have easily hire expensive pr to combat this. I don’t know why and this always bugs me. I mean taylor swift come back after kim drama because of new pr , I’m sure meghan could have easily come.

    • Pumpkin says:

If negotiations are happening they simply may not be able to say anything until a deal is completed or all parties walk away permanently.

It’s pretty common for productions not to confirm anything to the trades as studios may want to announce things themselves.

    • MidnightSuperNova says:

What backlash? This is the British tabloid/rota’s constant state of being 🙄

    • Nic919 says:

Guy Ritchie should be the one clarifying this. He’s benefitting from the heat score to get a third season. I highly doubt he said anything to Tina brown.

  4. Becks1 says:

LOL so I think the “backlash” is that some in the press were announcing this job as a done deal and now that it seems it’s still under discussion they’re backtracking to try to save face.

There are so many theories and so much speculation around this move, it’s a bit exhausting as a royal watcher LOL. I guess as with most things Sussex related we’ll know when we know.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, it’s as if alien spaceships just landed, with everyone running around screaming, “What, what, who, what?”

Meghan’s life in the US has been mostly unsensational. She works, has her charities, her kids, her mom, her friends. It’s the life of a normal, but wealthy, woman. The hysteria is all from the royal side. And I imagine whatever life she’s planning in the UK, for however long, will be the same, work, charities, kids, friends. And with more hysteria from the royal side.

      • MaisiesMom says:

The spaceship analogy is so perfect lmao. They really are freaking out.

An English man re-locates to California for a few years with an American wife. Now he’s decided to come back at least for a time. He is on bad terms with his brother but still close to a few cousins, aunts and uncles, not to mention friends. His relationship with his father is complicated but he loves the man, who also happens to be elderly and have cancer. He’d like his children to spend a little time with him before he passes.

Like, Harry is a human being. I’m not sure this is the right decision but it’s a very human one. They seem to forget that.

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

Agreed. Plus any British/Tina backlash is less than a drop in the ocean to the international audiences for Netflix. If The Gentlemen relied solely on U.K. viewers it would have been one and done.

  5. NoBS Please says:

Meghan is right to ignore the rota rats’ frothing.

Firstly, actors rarely need to move their entire families just for a role in a TV show, if they did they’d be moving all over the world all the time. So no, Meghan didn’t move to the UK for a part in The Gentlemen.

Second, desperate Tina Brown is writing this story all be herself, twisting the tidbits she may have heard (or not) to try to hurt Meghan any way she can: one day there’s a role being discussed, the next it’s been pulled because everyone hates Meghan.

I’m surprised she didn’t say it was pulled because Netflix absolutely HATES Meghan and would never work with her, and whose bonkers idea was it to start having talks with Meghan about a role in the first place when everyone knows Netflix are absolutely and definitely done with her, whoever started these talks should be fired!!

    • Magdalena says:

I agree. Plus, IF a role for her had been on the cards and is now “off”, I’d say that it is because someone on Ritchie’s team leaked it and as M prefers to work in private/stealth mode, she said “No thanks” because some people clearly cannot be trusted.

It was already reported that she had been flooded with offers since she returned to the US, so this news would not be unusual. She managed to enter talks about and actually FILM a role in another movie and nothing came out until she had done it.

I don’t get this whole “Meghan began looking for work” argument. She runs a production company and she has As Ever, which just announced the launch of a new wine right after selling out various edits of her new blueberry spread. I have no doubt that she has been perusing the offers which she has been receiving (many here have frequently said how bad it is that she is leaving so much money on the table, so exploring all options is a good thing). However, the lady is clearly booked and busy, not unemployed, and it’s not as though she’s lacking funds or on the breadline.

      • Kai says:

I agree. Don’t understand this part of the narrative in the overall news they are moving back.

Granted as it’s them, speculation overload and frenzy were expected as the media and social media “royal experts” can’t help themselves as this news give them content.
It was a dying part of the internet, many had become semi dormant but since this news they have all been woken up.

But this part about Meghan moving back for acting seemed so unnecessary and very superficial and exposed her unnecessarily to the likes of Tina Brown , who gets picked up even if no fact check.

Does anyone else feel as if it’s two different teams managing their communication? Harry’s narrative for moving back has been set and it’s a mixed of charity and family reasons along with wanting his family to experience his culture first hand. Good reasons to me and makes sense BUT this new storyline of Meghan needing a reason herself felt almost a response to her supporters asking why is she moving back.
but why did she need a separate reason and then why acting and why this particular show to attach her brand to?

Why not say for her family- Harry moved with her when she needed an escape and this move is important and as she can run her business from the UK, she is with her family.
This added acting storyline felt superficial. She carries the same gravitas as Harry.

BUT if Meghan’s team is ok with this line , let it be.

Some say they are moving back more understanding of the landscape and better prepared. I am rooting for them. Yes they can’t correct every headline but outlets said her team did not confirm or deny , in media speak that seemed coy. That they wanted this out there . If she is ok with it. We have to respect that she knows what she is doing and has decided the narrative she wants to establish this time around.

I am rooting for them. I sometimes wonder if they realize the historical role that fate placed on them and they carry, especially for the black community and mixed race communities? as her and the children do represent us even if it is not a role they think they do or don’t yet fully understand how to balance.

I want so much more for her & her legacy , I don’t want another round of the media lying and speculating and setting the narrative for Meghan, I want her to comeback Olivia Pope Season 1&2 style and take control of her narrative. Like Hire Judy Smith, Meghan – there must be a communication strategist like Judy & Olivia Pope – as you are not just for generating exposure for Guy Ritchie. Imagine, this is who and his show get to lean into world headlines about your move for it to turn around and smear you? Unless you are a EP on that show or investor in something associated with the show as otherwise- why? Why them?

You haven’t begin to unleash The quality and reach of your impact . You can take control of your narrative and legacy and let the media play catch up to YOU!

  6. paintybox says:

TB – hard eye-roll. Her favorite thing is to run around screaming the Sussex sky is falling every 5 minutes. At least Syke-o is back to laboring for a veneer of sensibility. The press is proving Harry’s point to his father again, that even as so-called private citizens they still need protection! The Sussexes, on the other hand – I’m going back to what Kaiser wrote many months ago about them – really, really need to work out how to communicate with the public. Like it or not, they’re public figures even as they attempt to live as private citizens and ignoring all of the hoopla all the time gives a feeling of chaos that appears to stem from them as long as the press gets to control all of these narratives. One can’t blame them for not wanting to share private information but they need a way to take control of their own narrative! It doesn’t have to be detailed – just under their own management and direct to the public. I wonder if the palace has made restrictions about this or what – I mean why not just do it, it would clear them of being the intentional agents of chaos.

  7. Tessa says:

Tina brown needs to keep quiet. She was nasty to diana

    • Nic919 says:

Tina brown has zero issues being friends with Ghislaine Maxwell. For that alone she should be shunned.
She also associated with Weinstein but a lot of Hollywood did that.

  8. TMoney says:

Its very sad that Meghan cannot live her life without being torn down constantly. It’s absurd.

    • paintybox says:

It’s very sad and so racist, sexist and classist. Ugh! She’s become the symbol of striving and self-invention vs. privilege, which, depending on one’s own point of view, makes her a threat or a champion.

  9. Amy Bee says:

I think the story is made up and somebody panicked when it blew up, hence new story that the offer is withdrawn. The offer would only be possible if there was a season 3 to produce and that doesn’t exist. It’s interesting to see Tina Brown jump into this. She’s desperate to be part of reporting on Harry and Meghan.

    • Jais says:

And that’s the truest part. Tina Brown is thrilled to be talking about the Sussexes again. That racist old dinosaur can’t wait to talk about Meghan in particular. The idea that mega lost a role over backlash? Ummm what backlash? All I saw was a heap of publicity for the show.

    • SarahCS says:

Panic or was this the plan all along?

How can we make her look bad? I know, give it a couple of days of saying she’s moving for work (because obviously they need the money) then say she’s too unpopular and was dropped.

Or maybe I’m giving them too much credit! But all of this fits with the press attack points against her.

      • Lorelei says:

And we’re to believe that this all happened within like 48 hours, over a weekend in August no less? Give me a break

    • Chelsea says:

The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline would not be running a completely made up casting rumor and jumping over themselves to call it an exclusive. Yes they both have written some crappy opinion stuff around her but they’re still trade papers with real sources who wouldn’t want to look like idiots for posting made up casting rumors as their own reporting.

      • Amy Bee says:

I’ll remind you that the Hollywood reporter wrote a hit piece Meghan a few years ago and Deadline wrote that Netflix had gotten cold feet and were not going to air the docuseries. So these publications are not always credible.

      • Interested Gawker says:

Of course they would, Penske owned titles have form for this behaviour already.

  10. Eleonor says:

I think they are back because Charles is much more ill than we think.
It’s a possibility that they have an agreement.
They go back and she can start acting again.
I would not be surprised if all of this end up in a divorce.
She has always been too cool for him.
    That’s all I have.

    • Alex says:

Charles’s health is stable; he’s been the busiest member of the royal family this year, and he would rarely appear in public if he were seriously ill. Furthermore, Spanish media have reported that BP and Spain are in talks regarding a state visit next autumn. There are many reasons they moved back to UK, but is Charles dying? Absolutely not.

    • Blubb says:

Eleanor: she couldn’t act in the US? In Hollywood? 🤨
There are a lot of royal derangers here today.

  11. ChillinginDC says:

I never believed they were coming back so she could act. And it never made sense this was the show it was for since they haven’t even been renewed.

  12. Monika says:

I am struggeling with all these cotradictory headlines about Harry and Meghan at the moment. Two weeks ago if somebody had told me that Harry and Meghan are going to return to the UK I would have said that this will never happen. I was dismissive of Richard Edean’s project “thaw”. Then Wednesday happened. Tbh I was shocked when I woke up to the news Harry and Meghan returning to the UK.

Since then I lost the trust in my gut feelings. Even with the craziest headline I now have a niggeling feeling there might be a kernel of truth in it. I really need to wait to hesr official statements either from Harry and Meghan’s or Netflix office to confirm or deny. I also need to see what is actuallly happening.

I hope that Meghan has projects lined up for herself and does not fade into the background. I do not think that this will happen. Meghan is a strong woman and shows over and over again that she can stand her ground.

Btw I thought the Earl of Wessex is working as a farm labourer during the summer on Sandringham estate and now he is in Balmoral.

    • Mairzy Doats says:

The BM are all about clicks and making money, and the contradictory stories are completely in service to that. My theory about the move, and the recent vacation time there, is that it’s to establish their right, and their children’s right, to travel in and out of the UK, and to reside or visit for whatever length of time WITHOUT PERMISSION from anyone. Easier to do while Charles is king, and once the precedent is established, William will not be able to try to arbitrarily ban his brother’s family from the country.

      • tamsin says:

That is my thinking too, and it makes sense. They are re-establishing a UK base and in order to do that, you need to be a resident for a while in order not for it to be just a second home. Imagine going through all this each time the whole family wants to spend extended time there.I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they want the children to have an international education experience.

    • BeanieBean says:

The Earl Wessex’s ‘job’ is/was typical of these aristo/royal jobs, only lasting a few weeks. They don’t get summer jobs that last the whole summer like us normies do.

  13. Jessica says:

Guy Ritchie’s asst director on the show has already said this isn’t happening and they’ve never even spoken to her. He said it was an internet rumor.

    • SarahCS says:

      This I believe.

    • Hypocrisy says:

Probably something the rota made up with their anonymous sources.. the tabloids have blood on their hands and instead of reflecting on their actions that drove a decent person to their death they act like sharks that have blood in the water and are now in a mindless feeding frenzy of lies it is absolutely disgusting. How many people do they have to target and kill before they are held accountable is what I want answered..

    • Nic919 says:

We also have to remember that a lot of formerly respected trade appears are owned by Penske media and they have done some shitting reporting recently including the Sinners box office. They are right wing outlets now.

  14. Jane says:

So they had a sentence or two amount it when they ran into each other. That’s hardly talks. It’s a ludicrous notion l.

  15. VMax says:

Yesterday, the news that Meghan was returning to acting was met with cheers. Somehow, working with Guy Ritchie made perfect sense and she would be a great fit on his show. 24 hours later and the reaction to the ‘rumor’ of her hiring is adamantly negative, with the media once again the enemy and Meghan the target of rota bullying. No one can keep up and tbh, no one should. I can’t chase every news item and support this one or denounce that one just because of how I feel about H&M. I said from the start that moving back to the UK for whatever reason is going to present problems for the family. It’s not anti-Harry or victim Meghan. It just doesn’t make sense. Wake me when it’s over lol

  16. Talie says:

Deadline is a solid industry publication – it seems highly doubtful they would run with that story if it was false. And I agree – never heard of the show before that. I only saw mountains of publicity for it crash in like waves, not backlash. Tina’s whole piece and now this seem manic to me, which is out of character for her. I suspect, once the show airs and gets renewed, Netflix will do a shock announcement on instagram or something and then everyone will claim Meghan paid for the role. Anything to make themselves feel better. Netflix will usually renew shows well in advance if they know what direction viewership is heading based on internal factors. They probably can already tell.

    • Lady Esther says:

Both Deadline and Hollywood Reporter are owned by Penske Media, which has run multiple negative stories about Meghan in the past

  17. Louise177 says:

I don’t know anything about tv/movie making but I find it hard to believe that there are casting talks when there’s now season confirmation or script.

  18. maisie says:

why does Tina Brown hate Meghan so much?

    • Eurydice says:

Why does anyone hate Meghan so much? It’s an industry now. Meghan has literally done nothing out of the ordinary except get married to Harry. And even if all the criticism is true, it’s about ordinary things that billions of other people on the planet do regularly. It really comes down to 2 things – Harry’s relationship with his family and that Meghan is Black.

      • QuiteContrary says:

Tina Brown hates Meghan because Meghan is beautiful, talented and married to a royal — basically everything TB wishes she was.

      • Interested Gawker says:

They want Harry contrite, obedient and remarried to ‘an English Rose’. They want control over ‘Diana’s Boys’ in order to further their own interests.

If ‘they’ get a toe in the door with Harry as regent ‘their’ next goal would be Meghan’s removal.

This is why I feel Beatrice will be regent, not Harry.

  19. Harla says:

When this story first appeared on People, it actually made a lot of sense to me. Many actors will relocate their families if filming is expected to take a while and it would coincide nicely with Harry’s desire to be back in England for a bit. I’m also thinking that Meghan might enjoy a role that, might be, so far removed from the rom-com parts she’s played in the past. Honestly, I’d love to see her act a character who’s a bitch or even a bit violent.

    • BeanieBean says:

And now we’re learning there’s not even a Season 3 guaranteed yet, it could be years from now, if at all. Just another example of how these people spin stories out of thin air.

  20. Denise says:

I am really terrified for Meghan. I know they’re in a different position, this time around but British media made at least 2 private citizens to take their own lives. Meghan is strong and has a thick skin, but she will have to be even stronger now . That’s an incredibly tough position to be in.

  21. EllenOlenska says:

Meghan is a good actress and if she is returning to acting hopefully she will choose carefully. A small role that could potentially be cut for times sake by a director could open up a whole new arena of rota frothing. I liked the gentleman and maybe she could get a two or three episode arc on it. But whether this is true or not, I don’t really understand the move back to the UK so hopefully it will all make sense over time.

  22. L4Frimaire says:

This was a big fat nothing burger. The Sussexes don’t announce things that are maybes. This was just another rumor to try to make sense of them moving back or to say they’re broke and need money. I heard some people say acting is now beneath Meghan, I kid you not. My only hope for Meghan in the UK is that she publicly drags Tina Brown’s ass at some point.

  23. Harriet says:

Tina started this lie and set it up to say that Meghan failed “again”.

I do think they heard UK Netflix and series, put 2 and 2 together, and ended up with 67.

This Guy Ritchie thing was so out of the blue. He may have been approached to contact her, but this was never going to go anywhere. Quickly set up to be used against her.

Also, Meghan has entered her Hollywood EP era (Executive Producer). That is why this lie never smelled right. Even for a Suits reboot, they denied her EP request, so she passed.

    – March 2026 – “Currently no plans for a third season” of her lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan.” However, the insider did not rule out future specials or one-off projects.

Did Meghan shelve this project herself because she knew she would not be around to film it?

    What if?
“The insider did not rule out future specials or one-off projects”

    🤩 With Love, Meghan (Montecito)
    🤩 With Love, Meghan (UK)
    🤩 With Love, Meghan (Portugal)
(With Love, Meghan goes international à la Anthony Bourdain!!!)

    Also,
🤩 As Ever, regional products and wines

This seems a better use of her time than Guy Ritchie. I am more apt to believe that “With Love, Meghan” is going international. “A Cotswolds Christmas Special” and “Summer retreat in Portugal”.

  24. BayTampaBay says:

“Literally, I had no idea that this show even existed before now.”

Gotta have NETFLIX but is an EXCELLENT caper series especially if you like Guy Ritchie productions.

If for no other reason, watch to drool over Theo James.

  25. Over it says:

Tina brown is such a bitter has been irrelevant B . Lime go sling your tentacles elsewhere and leave Meghan the f alone . I do wish Harry and Meghan had asked their spokesman to release a statement saying, we are moving back for a bit , we ain’t telling you why so go f yourselves British media .
Also Don lemon had this clip and I am completely in agreement with him . The British media is f nuts . Well my words not his . That’s what i imagine he wanted to say

  26. Over it says:

Now I don’t know why they are moving back to hell but can I just say and I know I already said it’s their business but can i please say . Of Meghan did indeed move to the uk so that Harry could be there for his father, I might slap her if I knew her . Cause what do you mean , for a dog shit father who pulled your security, took away your house . Told you don’t set foot in balmoral and Just recently took away the room he offered your husband in his 500 room palace. Just imagine for a moment if she indeed did this for Harry after all that has been done to her and her husband and children. Would you not all agree that Meghan would indeed need someone to slap common sense into her . Let’s not forget that when her and Harry and Archie life was in danger, it was a black man not related to her that saved Their lives . So if anyone deserves to have someone there for them In their hours of need, it would be Tyler , not dog shit Charles

  27. VMax says:

Does it really benefit Meghan to float more wish-fufillment storylines about WLM continuing? This is why it’s so frustrating being a fan when other ‘fans’ insist on having insider knowledge of their every move. If it was good news when the acting gig was announced, it can’t also be good news if that announcement was never true. We shouldn’t have to remind ourselves that Meghan is just a human being like the rest of us, prone to ups and downs. There is no victory in inflating accomplishments or sugar coating setbacks. Let her career and her life play itself out. I only wish the best for her but I don’t have any prescriptions for how she should achieve it.

    • Harriet says:

Where did Meghan “float” that? I said it, and it is more credible than returning to acting for Guy Ritchie.
Moving to the UK has been in the works for over a year. That is when they started streamlining Archwell and the businesses. Meghan knew she wouldn’t be around to film season 3, but she left the door open for specials. She now has full control of As Ever and can do whatever she wants.

Was it good news about the Guy Ritchie thing? It made no sense to her overall projection. It reminded me of when they would say she was up for doing a Marvel character… dumb.

WLM has an Emmy nomination, so the projection would be to keep doing what’s working and expand As Ever. (I see Portuguese tinned fish on offer.)

  28. parkernin says:

Tina Brown is a miserable cow. Period. End of.

  29. MaisiesMom says:

If she has an acting role, we will find out about it when we find out about it. I don’t trust anything the rabid media says about it. And I certainly don’t trust Tina Brown.

  30. Bean says:

    And so it begins….

  31. Chelsea says:

I say this from a place of love: some of you really need to take deep breaths and maybe touch some grass because you’re not going to survive the next year going like this. We’ve been wanting to see Meghan back in acting forever and we finally get word that she’s in talks to appear on a hit Emmy nominated show and y’all are having breakdowns over a Tina Brown tweet and cursing her team for not publicly confirming this news when the show’s second season hasn’t even aired yet?? Come on man. Her team has shown particularly in the last few months that they’re not afraid to put out denials so if this story was completely fake and they thought it was harmful they would just shut it down.

I’m not happy about this move back to the UK either but Harry and Meghan have their reasons that don’t concern me and if I get some fun Meghan content out of it whether its a new role or her expanding her business i will take that and ignore the rest. I went to battle for her when she was there before because she was very vulnerable and stuck; she’s not stuck now. She’s a financially independent woman no longer under the control of that institution who is aware of the consequences of this move and she’ll just have to deal with them or she can leave because she has the freedom to. The end.

    • Eurydice says:

The Hollywood screenwriter, William Goldman, said “Nobody knows anything.” He was talking about the potential success or failure of a film, but it fits here.

    • Harriet says:

      Why are people lowballing Meghan?
She is already in an Emmy nominated show…and she OWNS it. It is called With love, Meghan.

Why would she go water someone else’s garden and not her own?

      • Interested Gawker says:

They want to shout from the rooftops, with malice a forethought, that M has no garden to tend. They want her to be seen as perpetually at somebody else’s mercy rather than having her own agency. It is false but seeded through many international media organs as character assassination and ‘wishcasting’. Why should the New York Times have multiple H&M leaving America = failure articles? How can Tina Brown point to ‘backlash’ when the gossip over The Gentleman was barely 48 hours old? Penske is an old hand at carrying British ‘grey men’ establishment water into American publications. It’s the same old song and none of this is innocent.

Pray for the Sussexes, lend them positive energy. are conducting family life walking a path with no prior examples of the correct means to circumvent deliberate malice from extremely high places.

      • Harriet says:

        @Interested Gawker
They are trying to make her look desperate. Imagine begging Guy Ritchie for a job when you have your own production company and own a multimillion-dollar company.

Why would she tie her name to a series about aristocrats selling drugs with unsavoury characters? Also, Netflix series don’t pay Hollywood salaries. Most likely, less than £ 1 M. Why would she waste her time on that?

I see Meghan answered the idiots in her own way. Picking apples in her orchard. My guess is her next product will be Apple Butter.

Meghan isn’t coming to beg for a job.

  32. Elizabeth says:

I would love it if Meghan had a role in The Gentleman, but it hasn’t been renewed, and production wouldn’t start for months even if it were. I’ve also heard rumors that Meghan is taking a role in Oh, Mary in the West End (more wishful thinking). Personally, I think that Rivals on Hulu/Disney+ would be even better for her.

    • Harriet says:

      The Gentleman:
“When aristocratic Eddie inherits the family estate, he discovers that it’s home to a huge weed empire, and its proprietors aren’t going anywhere.”

Why would you want Meghan’s name attached to this?

I am sure it is good, but the Black Duchess selling weed… no thanks.

  33. fwiw says:

@Harriet. Good thinking: Tina started the rumor to be able later to say it’s not happening because everyone hates Meghan. Maybe Ari Emmanuel should say something to protect his client’s reputation from Tina.

The idea of Meghan returning to acting has been a running lie of the haters & royal rota believers. It is part of the “they are broke” lie. I have a friend among those. A couple of years ago she announced Meghan was returning to acting; I corrected her that Meghan had invested in a small company & merely was going to appear in a short ad for it.

So I didn’t believe “return to acting” this time, though I’m surprised People Mag did. Even PBS News Hour said Harry & Meghan were moving back to England–no mention that it wasn’t permanent–and Meghan was said to be returning to acting. Disappointing.

  34. Magdalena says:

Man, a lot of these UK reporters who are rubbing their hands in glee and counting their coins because Meghan in particular will be spending some time in the UK and because “Harry and Meghan are coming back” are going to be BITTERLY disappointed when she continues exactly as she has been doing in Montecito: disappearing for months at a time, making appearances with or without Harry for business or charity then returning home to be with her family, posting on Instagram whenever she wishes – and still giving ZERO access to the vipers who are hoping to make a fast buck using her name.

And the leftover royals are also going to be bitterly disappointed to discover that their friends in the media will continue to write and talk about her even when she is not seen, even when they have become very visible in their one-sided competition with the Sussexes.

    • NoBS Please says:

      I agree 100%!

And if they stalk and doxx her they’ll have Harry and his lawyers at their throats.

Plus all the media hysteria and BS narratives are going to bore even M&H haters after a while…

  35. Dopple says:

After all the lies and chaos of this gossip, this is how I see it all shaking out: Meghan will have another cooking/crafts show only geared more towards British foods, restaurants, shops, customs, etc and that has been the plan all along, and Harry will do a cameo on Gentlemen with him riding a scooter around the Gentlemen estate in the background, zooming by windows, minding his own business.

  36. Lady Digby says:

This is an interesting article on the need for an anti fixation clause on specific person in press code in the wake of how Prof Jason Arday was hounded.
    https://inforrm.org/2026/08/22/professor-arday-tragedy-the-case-for-an-anti-fixation-clause-paul-wragg/
Not to prevent legitimate scrutiny based on facts about and proper journalism. Meghan has had endless, unmitigated crap written about her for years . This Gentleman story might fall into the nonsense category? Fed up with opinion pieces and going back over video from years ago and quoting a dead Queen about her views on all things Meg related. When DM interview any celebrity or famous person and seem to ask them what they think of Meghan? They are obsessed like a stalker? Just report on facts or news when it happens not 4/5 stories a day on one woman. 15 pages in DM on Friday!!

  37. L4Frimaire says:

Meghan has a production company and an agent. She could literally create the perfect acting role for herself if she wanted and have her agent find roles for her. She hasn’t done that so far. There is so much noise surrounding them but I hope they use this next year to focus on the projects they already started and bring them to fruition. With Love, Meghan showed they can get a project out quickly and do it well, with an Emmy nomination to boot. I feel like the Sussexes had too much going on with the Royal family back and forth and lawsuits, which took away from them devoting more to their work and charities. This current news cycle nonsense is to distract from their work and sabotage it. We don’t want another Sentebale and we want to see more Archewell Productions output.

  38. BeanieBean says:

So the whole thing was just made up by the press? Wishful thinking? And then they said it’s not happening because reasons, Meghan is too toxic or whatever. What a shining example of journalism! 🙄

  39. samipup says:

Man! They are already attacking Meghan about this. I’ve seen 3-4 negative stories today alone in the Times, I think Vanity fair and other publications. It’s gonna be bad for Meghan. People are awful, so hateful. She is very brave. OTOH, this will drive scooter totally bath*t!!!

    • ABritGuest says:

I mean Meghan getting attacked is a day ending in Y for Meghan.

    • Tessa says:

Cindy adams wants harry to take the children. Revolting

      • L4Frimaire says:

Cindy Adams is still alive? I thought she faded away in the 90s.

      • Interested Gawker says:

They aren’t even subtle. Meghan and Kate are married ins and not any better positioned for notice or protection than their late mother in law, save what their own wits, personal contacts/support system and the individual effort of their spouses contrive for them. And Diana was a proper aristocrat; higher in social prestige than Meghan, even with her acting career or Kate, as just a commoner. Blood is all with these ghouls.

      • Tessa says:

        She’s in her nineties.

      • Bings says:

The absolute nerve of this woman. People are really out of order. But she is nothing if not consistent in her vileness. Years ago, she was advocating for Brad to take his white children from Angelina.

  40. Tiffi says:

People argued with me but i hope everyone realizes this. The press owe meghan money. They are messing up potential projects. Also they are using her to promote their projects. They are tying her name to dead ends. Its not good for her business. She needs a yearly wage. Just this Gentleman thing. I have heard about this for days. Its free press.
