Chris Pratt: ‘I can tell that people are motivated by my transformations’

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt covers the summer issue of Men’s Health, which didn’t try very hard to impress with their cover text. The focus is on Pratt, who is still promoting Jurassic World. They even had him pose with a sand dinosaur. Pretty cute stuff, although it’s only been two weeks since Pratt last talked about his physical transformation. His PR people signed him up for all sorts of fitness magazines, so body talk comes with the territory. Pratt allegedly talks about his recent half Ironman in this interview, but these excerpts are different:

He’s a role model: “I can tell that people are motivated by my transformations, and that feels really good. But everyone should know when the movie star stuff is over, I might go back to being the fat guy. My wife wants a pizza oven — she’s going to learn how to bake bread, and I’m going to eat it. I love the health benefits of exercising, and I have a kid now. By exercising, you really can add 20, 30 years to your life. But you gotta live too, so hopefully I’ll find a nice balance.”

A fit body helps his mind: “It’s all right; you can say that I’ve been fat. As an actor, I can’t have proper mental prep without proper physical prep. Even though I knew it deep inside, it look me a long time to realize how getting physically sharp helps me get ready for other things in my life. It nagged me when I wasn’t physically fit. It was just another thing on my to-do list that I wasn’t capable of getting done. I was like, ‘I feel kind of sh*tty about myself right now. I knew I had to get back on a path to becoming fit again, that I was going to make a splash when I walked into a room with a casting director from then on.”

Is it a humblebrag when Pratt claims to be a fitness role model for chubby dudes? What Pratt says is true. This doesn’t feel like a case of Goop and her “stripper” butt. Some guys really do covet Pratt’s makeover, but I admit the subject is getting tired.

More Pratt news. He received the Guy of the Year honor from Spike TV’s Guys Choice awards, which aired on Saturday night. He delivered an amusing speech (which you can see here) where he made fun of overly long Oscar speeches. Dude thanked his spray tan guy and Bowflex. Pratt did crack a joke about his love for hunting, but he praised equality for women without saying anything obnoxious. Baby steps.

I don’t mind what he said. He’s certainly inspired me, although I don’t agree with all the dietary restrictions he has made. I believe in balance which he admits he’s hoping to achieve in the future.

    • Tristan says:

Same here. He was very cute chubby, but he looks gorgeous all buff & hunky

    • Esmom says:

I don’t mind what he said either. But it’s interesting how he talks about how important it is for him to be fit, yet seems aware of the fact that his buff physique might not be permanent. So he’s not totally on board with the lifestyle changes needed to remain fit and healthy for the long run. Hopefully he’s not in for a lifetime of yo-yo-ing.

He’s inspired me to go “phwoah” and then to feel a little ashamed…

  2. HEJ says:

Read the exerpt of the article five times trying to find something to complain about.
I’m in shock and scared I might be warming up to him.

    • qwerty says:

He feels shitty about himself when he’s fat but not after he’s killed an animal for fun. That’s enough for me, he’s a piece of sh!te

      • Kitten says:

        +1,000,000

I know that it’s a fitness mag but seriously, all this dude ever talks about is his weight. He’s worse than Aniston with her f*cking hair.

      • Don't kill me I'm French says:

        @Kitten
        Totally agree

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

        @Kitten
YES. I’m getting soooo tired of it. I literally know nothing about this dude but that he lost weight and got fit. Just shut up. I think the movie would get more traction if he did some interviews with comic books and dinosaur/sciency-crap. But STAHP.

Actually it is like Goop because he didn’t do it on his own, he had a team show up at his house and force him to work out and another team redo his kitchen. What normal person can relate to that? When the studio has a millions to earn they make you transform your body. This WAS for a movie right? He didn’t get thin and then some big role ?

And I am also tired of his ” I have a kid now” speeches. Having a kid shouldn’t change you that much from the person you are inside — I am still the same person with the same values. I will teach my children the same. I just tired and my roots need to be done but ….

This guy is always saying oh now I have a kid I have to do this and act like this blah blah. Nope, I am not buying it. He sounds like an a-hole, and he may submerge it for a bit while his kid is little but I bet it will come back full force later on. And when it does he will be fat again and maybe entering rehab for his drinking. I will put a 50 on it now.

    • Kitten says:

      Agree with every word.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

He’s really starting to annoy me, and I didn’t even really know who he was until the movie promos started coming out.

And I have living proof (my sister)…if you’re a selfish a-hole before a kid, you’re a selfish a-hole after the kid. 99.99999% of the time (I don’t know, maybe some people completely change after something like that, but I’ve never met anyone who did).

  4. Snazzy says:

I love the glasses on his kid đŸ˜€

  5. SamiHami says:

OMG, their little guy is just too cute!

Jurassic World was a fun popcorn movie-no depth, but lots of fun to watch. I like him well enough; he’s good looking and he’s funny, so what’s not to like?

  6. Elfie says:

I think he’s cute and funny, it is inspirational when someone transforms themselves because it shows others they can too. No hate here.

  7. Kiddo says:

HA! That kid is cute. He could fly in Mini Winston Churchill’s air force.

    • BengalCat2000 says:

That kid is freaking adorable. I just started watching Parks and Rec, so I’m still new to CP.
Love Ana Faris & I’ve seen pics of their son wearing those awesome glasses for a few years now and I’m in looooooooooooooove!

    • Esmom says:

Yes, can you imagine the trouble those two little rascals could stir up?

  8. Prairiegirl says:

OMG Jack Pratt is a cutie! I want to nom nom nom his little cheeks.

  9. J says:

Fitness makeover..blah blah blah… Can we please talk about their little boy’s glasses! I just love little kids with glasses, they are so cute!

  10. Belle says:

Chris is one interview away from being over exposed. Nothing against what he said but he is everywhere. I think he needs to play low now that the JUrassic park has been a huge success and hit the fans with a new movie, meaningful work etc when he decides to come out again

    • Kate says:

He pretty much disappeared (as much as he could while staying on Marvel’s good side) between Guardians and Jurassic, so I think he’ll do so again. It’s not his fault his promotional work for Jurassic has been so spread out. This week should be the end of it, unless they reel him out again as they get closer to the big box office records.

  11. Moxie Remon says:

Somebody save me from this hellish groundhog day. Can’t stand to hear this guy talking about himself and his transformation. Okay, good for you, now talk about your career or something well thought for a change.

  12. Naddie says:

I just hate fitness role models.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

He has an army of diet coaches, fitness coaches and other to help to lose his weight so in what it’s so extraordinary…In more since these pics,he yet gained some weight.

  13. lisa says:

he sounds like a very lucky very dumb douchebag

  14. HHY says:

Love him, and his transformation is certainly inspiring to a lot of guys.
