I’m really not sure why the London Film Festival didn’t do a photocall for High Rise earlier today, but it doesn’t seem like they did. Instead, they saved the big guns (dragonfly guns!) for the premiere. Behold, photos from this evening’s BFI London Film Festival premiere of High Rise. I’m slightly disappointed that Tom Hiddleston didn’t wear a tux for the premiere, but he did wear one for the opening night festivities several nights ago (see those photos here). Maybe I’m hallucinating because of the dazzling blue of Tom’s eyes, but I think his suit is a very dark navy. Nice tie as well.
At this premiere, Hiddles chatted to Yahoo about the film, saying: “I think we are fascinated by extremity. Whether we choose to tell stories about the end of the world or aliens or zombies or something, some event that pushes us into a physically extreme place: Who are we in those moments? Who are we when there’s some terrible, cataclysmic event?” Director Ben Wheatley also promised something special for the Dragonflies: “Hiddleston fans can expect a large dose of Tom, dancing naked occasionally, and generally being brilliant.” Sold!
Other photos: Sienna Miller wore this boho (of course) Michael Kors. The detailing on the sleeves is getting on my nerves, as is her hairstyle, but otherwise, she looks decent here. I don’t have the ID on Elisabeth Moss’s LBD, but I’m not a fan on that look on her. She’s cute as hell – she should mix it up!
Photos courtesy of WENN.
LEGS. I think my Granny had very similar curtains to the fabric of Sienna’s dress.
I said the similar on the earlier thread to your LEGS comment but Sienna is wearing my grandmother’s curtains. In some pictures, her nipples are visible.
Sienna Guillory opted for a red satin bed sheet.
pity it wasn’t salmon coloured.
Sorry
En croute!
And as I said in the earlier thread, I really think we should refer to Sienna Miller as Nipsy McNightgown just to avoid confusion. That, and it’s a damn good – and quite fitting – nickname.
Nipsy McNightgown she is!
Nipsy should keep her chesticles to herself and usual, her hair is a chicken-fried mess.
Why is Tom’s pants not touching his shoes? I appreciate the form-fittedness (Happy to see you too, Tom!) even if he chose to go with blah black instead of awesome auburgine.
I want a snap of him and mummy D.
“chesticles” hahahahaha
I actually like Sienna’s dress, while Elizabeth’s s too casual too short and too tight.
Sienna is actually wearing a pantsuit.
@jammypants, Sienna M or Sienna G? Sienna G’s pantsuit would be a lot more interesting and flattering if the top of it were fitted better. It seems to be in danger of sliding off her boobs. A few inches higher and it would be much improved.
Lilacflowers–that appears to be SiennaG’s signature look for #LFF. Take a look through the Getty collection of pics for the Luminous gala a few days ago to catch her keepin’ it real. Must have been ‘rhymes with silly’ temperature-wise that night. (Hypocrites really bug me.)
I like Sienna M’s dress too. White is a good colour on her, and her silhouette wearing it is feminine and alluring. Her sleeves are twee and stumpy though.
@TB, oh, yes, I saw Sienna G’s costume for the Luminous gala in which she showed off the medallion from Raiders of the Lost Arc.
@Lilac, Miss G wore the pantsuit
You are all wrong, the best part of Tom is his evil mind.
Yep, I said it – I love him for his mind.
Are Hiddleston’s pants too tight…?
Noooope…just excited to see us.
Never!
Girl, what are you talking about?! 😉
Blasphemer!
Love the tight trousers! Can someone Xplain to me SM hairstyle ? Does she actually have a stylist?? Anyway read on Twitter Tom was seen with his mum getting into a car. Wonder what she thought of HR? The after party appears to be at the British Institute of Architecture.
Sorry! The Royal Institute of British Architecture
He watched HR with his Mum? I haven’t seen the film, but it does not sound like a good film to watch with one’s family. Anyway, if his mother watched it, I wish she enjoyed it, or any part of the film, and felt proud of her son. I always love him in slim suits
Yes. he did.
“High rise is awesome. Bumped into Hiddleston and his mum outside. Got into car. Jenny then ran into Luke. Awesome.”

oh dear Kaiser why should Tom would wear a tux for a premiere? that’s too much! Instead days ago it was a Gala where he was named testimonial for the BFI it wasn’t just a party or opening festivity. A suit is fine for the premiere, but he chose a boring one.
Alice, this is a gala night too
as far as I know film festivals have the so called “galas” when a big important movie premieres, that doesn’t mean that it’s a proper gala, like the one they did 2 days ago for the opening of the LFF, when Tom wore the tux. But you are right that it’s called gala, it’s the domestic, maybe also international premiere of High Rise: as for festival standards its called gala. That doesn’t mean that the dress code it’s black tie, tux and gown….look how Elizabeth is dressed.
You are correct. A gala night and a gala premiere are two diffrent things and the latter is free zone for any festival to decide in terms of rules, codes, etc. It also largely depends on thempresrige and image of the festival itself. I speak of TIFF but it’s pretty much the same elsewhere. Gala nights, on the other hand, regardless the occasion (we’ve had diplomats hosting because of their country premiering a big movie, fundraisers, but also private high end gala parties, etc), follow the relevant protocol.
@thank you for the insight Mary-Alice: I happened to be at TIFF for some premieres last month. For example The Program, Frear’s movie about Armstrong was a Gala Premiere: never seen a sadder ,downcast a lackluster “Gala”. True that the movie didn’t have any big stars, mostly B-list actors and that translated in an almost empty theatre and red carpet fans were just a few, as well as the press interest. It didn’t help that the movie was awful. TIFF audience is very easy to please and gives standing ovations basically to whomever star shows up, big or small….for this? nothing, even the applause was tepid….but I’m going OT, sorry! This is of course not the case for rising superstar Hiddles…he’s going to be big if he plays his cards right.
They looked so much better live: the suit and Tom. LOL
Tom wore a velvet jacket to the Only Lovers Left Alive BFI film premier -BFIit is a very low key affair compared to the large and many people dress down -so the suit was pretty good,The film was wonderful but not to purists tastes but being a big Wheatley fan I had not expected a literal translation.
He added dead pain humour which helped with the harshness,
Tom was brilliant -his role had been expanded.i loved the Q and A Wheatley was very funny and Tom informative.
It was very well run but they had a 35 minute turn around so they were keeping it on schedule-way better than last year and more room around the cinema than last year.
It is a very low key small Festival which is why i love it.You can choose to dress up or down.
I wonder if the press was being rude. None of them are really smiling.
The whole thing felt hurried from what little I saw – looks like everyone was rushing to get photographed on the carpet, interviewed, and into the venue for a few more quick soundbites and group photos.
I think there was another film after them on tonight’s schedule in that same theater (Tilda’s movie if I’m not mistaken) and I wonder if everyone was under orders to keep things moving.
Maybe in a bit of a race to get to the bar?
Or that…
Campari and soda luvvie!
it is a very small carpet and people can choose to dress down if they want-he wore a velvet jacket last year so he had up graded this year. But he was still elegant and witty in the Q and A as was Wheatly who’s humour I fell in love with
and he has more passionate spontaneous sex in this film than all his past films-I lost count.Tom made great use of his dead pan humour in the film
it was much better organised than last year and more space around the venues so less crowds to push through .The staff outside were excellent and very helpful. The turn around times vary and there was very tight turn around for this one so they were keeping things very tight
The red carpet was titchy and they had let all the film cast in before they let ticket holders in.Ben Wheatly briefly came down the ticket holders queue to sign but Tom did not.
Hurried? He was there for 30 minutes at least! How is that hurried? The poor man couldn’t get away. lol.
@hermia, if you were there you’d know better than I. I could only judge by what I was seeing online and I wasn’t speaking only of Tom, but the entire event. It seemed like photos of the arrivals had barely begun and then the whole cast was inside the theater, that’s all.
Did you see the film as well? What did you think?
I was first in the line for the ticket holders and my daughter who was standing could see the photo shoot .Tom did not come down the ticket holders that line to sign autographs as far as we could see-Ben came and signed one but was asked to go back .We had to wait for about half an hour.I was the first after the after the photo call to be let in because they gave me an escort.
So we had no opportunity for autographs so not sure when he signed those but I can testify that the organisers were more than helpful
No they were smilling:

Tom, I have cake. Please indulge.
I know he loves chocolates but cakes ? This is new…
He loves desserts, sweets, and baked goods. Scarlet Johansson used to bake him brownies when they were filming The Avengers.
This link still working. There are at least 3 interviews with Tom:

And from @daltontowers:
‘No-one wants to follow @twhiddleston in a Q&A’ – Sienna Miller is right; the most charming man ever”.

Haha, I can surely agree with her. It’s not a very nice spot to be in.
That is so true. Luke Evans was speechless after Tom gave a huge monolgue on Bllard at TIFF.
@jammypants, given that Luke’s comments during various promos for this at TIFF and San Sebastian have focused on how traumatized he was by his scene with Sienna M that might be a good thing
To be honest they only show one of Wilder’s rapes but most of it takes place off screen-considering what a big OTT character he was in the book i was kind of dissapointed in his character development and performance
Boring suit. Gorgeous man.
Those pants are awfully well fitted. God bless your tailor, Tom.
Yes, I didn´t like eiher. The pants are tight and a little short.
Must be a trend.
Perhaps he acquired the suit in one of his thin periods.
he looked as elegant as he always does when you see him in person
I am curious how UK people respond to the film.
“a large dose of Tom, dancing naked occasionally, and generally being brilliant”
Wheatley is funny as always.
I wanted to see this at TIFF but they only had one showing, which is unusual for them. There were two showings scheduled but the second was cancelled. I wonder if the director wanted to change the film a bit.
Nope. It wasn’t up to the director to decide on the second showing not happening.
I think there were three screenings and they cancelled one, so two screenings at last. One in the night, the other in the morning. My guess was that as TIFF changed the rating to 15A to 18 after ticketing began, they might have guessed fewer audience than they expected at first.
There were two screenings. One on that Sunday, then one the following Monday.
There was another screening today and a Q&A with Tom and Ben:

LOL. There’s a comma missing from that Wheatley quote. Tom dances in the film but he doesn’t dance naked!
i saw the film in London, and it’s everything i expected. Tom is right, when he says the film is very British. It has independent 1970”s brit film all over it. Which was exactly, IMO, Ben Wheatley was paying homage too. I’m sorry, but i think anyone who doesn’t like irony both in humour & observation of human behavior, from subtle to extreme, will struggle with this film.
personally, i loved it, i can’t wait to see it. don’t get to excited by sex scenes they are clothed and rather quick. dancing was great Luke evans was marvelous, Moss & Keeley Hawes are brilliant to. Sienna [both of them] playing to type but great.
Tom was the glue for the film, his acting was brilliantly understated, it was the calmest role i’ve seen him play, but take the lead with it, and command the screen. He’s going far is this kid.
my sentiments as well-my daughter who is not a Wheatly and knows nothing of Ballard liked it as well film loved
I love Tom’s understated acting, and though not a Brit, feel ready to enjoy a British dark comedy.
But P’enny, the real question is: Was the balcony sunbathing scene everything you hoped it would be?
@lilacflowers lol I have to admit it was a funny scene, the humour in it was unexpected in that scene, but worked really well. There was an unfortunate newspaper in the way 😢 but there was lot of naked hip & fumbling. I still think he could of done full frontal, so I am going to call him a chicken 😋 The balcony in itself was tiny, if it was real life. Your to be pushed to sunbathe with the concrete balconies. But the Orange sun-lounger was a classic. That PVC must have stuck to the flesh. Lol
P’enny, I’m getting the impression that the movie has quite a bit of humor in it… is that so? The book certainly didn’t have me chuckling throughout.
How long was he in the limo? Those pants are mussed. Did EM and SM intentionally go for a madonna/wh0re thing here? Overall could be worse. I hope he breaks out the midnight blue tux jacket sometime.
Long enough to give me a good seeing to, and a long winded lecture on whether to be or not to be, it was riveting. Sorry about the pants being mussed up, they wouldn’t go over the bloody shoes! Must remember, pants first, then shoes! Now hand me a mint julep while I fan my self, or even a Buck’s Fizz will do at a pinch.
There are new scenes from the movie. Wow.

It looks so bleak.
I’m not a fan. Compared to other Ben movies, this missed the point of the book in exchange for cheaper enetretainmemt, imo. I love A Field In England, for example, and quite like Sightseers.
I loved the changes -the humour was a welcome relief.I have watched every Wheatly films and loved them all and love that he always surprises you with his take on things.
I think he made the point -my daughter who has not read the book loved it -her only complaint was that the changes in some people’s behaviour where the transition moved to quickly,She thought Tom was excellant
I liked the changes. The book was so bleak, I wanted to put it down and quit it if it weren’t for my insane need to finish every book I start.
i disagree the changes were not for cheap entertainment, but some stuff even in today’s world is unfilmable. And. the structure of the book does not lend itself well to a film, in the book there is not much dialogue and just endless staring across corridors.
definitely will see it again if I can-i suspect yoy missed alot in first viewing
In here too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?t=7&v=Dc79fXnHTZc
it had quite a bit of humour which helped take the edge off it and lots of Tom sex
Hmm, actually I thought that in the supermarket scene, colors are quite vivid and highly saturated. Gray paint and a grey square. I remember Tom describes Lainge as a grey man in a grey apartment.
‘That’s my paint’ that line will stick with me forever.
I love his hair here.
According to ABC Tom will be on The View Oct 14! Those women will be all over him.
I’m just not sure how I feel about this. I’ve successfully avoided watching the View for YEARS. Suppose it depends on how long they give him before taping to mesmerize the ladies of the show.
I hate The View. It will likely include a whole lot of tumblr-type gushing and fawning.
Not even the Dragonfly King could get me to watch The View.
I have to confess that parts of The View can be quite entertaining. Raven often has some surprisingly interesting things to say, and it’s lovely to see Joy back, she doesn’t pull any punches, and can be outrageously direct at times. She is amazing for 73, or any age come to that. I find that if I DVR the program I can watch the bits I like, and fast forward through the other parts. Helps to make it a bit more palatable.
Well, my mom will learn who he is.
Exactly. I dont think the demographics of The View are the target audience for CP, more like 18-34? Of course some of us here don’t fit that age group either, but we already know who he is. Also I really don’t care for the latest round of trailers. It feels like they’ve gotten away from dark gothic romance and are now emphasizing just horror. Don’t like the music/edits. Oh well
The View…really.
I would rather see him on Maury. Or maybe not.
Sienna’s dress looks like a 70s nightie.
It looked even worse from up close: flimsy, slightly creased. Sienna Guillory looked much more elegant.
He was very sweet, but the best was James Purefoy who allowed a fan next to me to kiss him on the cheek. He was incredibly gracious about it. He has a new fan now: me.
Can you imagine the reaction if Tom had done that?
Didn’t Tom kiss a fan on the hands before? He’s hugged a lot of them too.
Speaking of Purefoy, I wish they would interview him more. I really enjoyed his arsehole character in the film.
I pretty much enjoy Purefoy in everything. We need him everywhere. His Marc Antony was my favorite character in Rome.

There’s never enough of the Dragonfly King.
Love the stovepipe trousers – he looks a bit . . . 1960s Retro. What’s up with his eyebrows? Is it just me or do they (and his hair) look longer and thicker?
No Jeremy Irons? Sniff. 😩
and no Luke Evans 🙁
Irons was no at the film but i thought he was spot on for my vision of his chraractors.I would say some of the women characters were under developed had trouble[e keeping track of some of then.Elizabeth Moss?? stood out
Sienna looks terrible. The other woman has a great dress but the size is too small for her.
Also what’s the difference between a suit and tux?? I’m googling “tuxedo”and from the images the only difference from what Hiddles is wearing here is in the tie.
@A.Key – I seem to recall the differences between tux and suit are mainly in the detailing. There used to be a ton of rules surrounding evening dress for men, but modern designers have played fast and loose with some of the rules so sometimes it can be hard to see the difference.
Traditionally, a tux jacket will have lapels that are faced in a different fabric (satin, grosgrain, velvet) and the outside trouser seams are usually also covered with that same fabric. Also, wearing a belt with a tux is a big no-no so tux trousers won’t have belt loops. If something is needed to hold the trousers up (Exhibit A – Tom at the BAFTA’s this year) it should be the traditional set of braces (aka suspenders). I also seem to recall something about flap pockets being too informal for a tux, they usually have slit pockets at the waist or no pockets at all.
My superficial examination of the photos above have me thinking Tom is wearing a suit rather than a tux, but it is a more formal suit than what might be worn to a day event – finer fabric, no cuffs on the trousers. Did we decide it’s a blue suit? Me likey.
Tuxedos are more formal. Tuxedo jacket lapels are usually a different material than the rest of the jacket. Pants often have a satin stripe up the side. There are other small differences in the cut and accessories.
Suit is trousers and jacket made of the same material. Think (no doubt I will be corrected) tux ususally black or dark blue, often has shiny lapels worn with black trousers, which have matching shiny stripe down outside seams of trousers.
Acc. To twitter tom is seeing hamlet in london today. Waiting for some pics.
If so, he waited until pretty much the last minute before he headed stateside and into the jungle for Monkey Island.
Or this is about the first chance he has had when he knew he could go?
Ok Sienna has this boho chic going on but it looks as tired and flat as her hair.
There are some pictures of Elizabeth Moss wearing a leather motorcycle jacket over her dress which I thought was really cute. The only thing is I think her dress is a smidgen too small.
Mr H looking good, real good. I’ll bake him some of my best chocolate caramel brownies with or without nuts. Would feed them to him by hand if he so wished.
Your chocolate caramel brownies sound delish. I like mine WITH nuts please.
I liked the moto jacket too.
Two sightings of Tom during Hamlet interval. No pics yet.
@ Antipodean, thanks :). I usually put pecans in my brownies, occasionally I’ll mix it up with macadamia nuts just ’cause I’ve been on this kick lately.

With the motor jacket.
Here’s a pic on Instagram. She said on the second pic she got caught. Do not not blame him for being growly faced as she put it. But I’m guilty for sharing lol!
https://instagram.com/p/8rJ2SjKXSk/
I’m glad that Tom was there to support a friend.
I don’t know that I would want to be on the receiving end of Mr. H’s growly face – I have a feeling it is a fearsome thing to behold in person.
Oohh the growly face is kind of hot…. as long as it is directed toward other people and not me. lol
And once again, where was Patti Lupone when needed?
He is now more careful of which fans he interacts with, and rightly so. I guess he is getting rather a bit tired of being a “teenage idol”. This girl is obviously immature. They tell you no mobile phones to be used while in the theatre.
Sadly, I’ve seen far too many middle-aged adults using devices to record performances, take pictures of others, or text messages during plays, concerts, ballets, and lectures to blame immaturity. Some people are just rude
The “girl” had a friend with her who also took a photo of Tom in the theatre and that woman is 30. I agree with Lilac, more often than not it is the older ones that cause the problems. People don’t care anymore, its the “I want this and I will have it no matter what” attitude that has sprung up in recent years.
Leaving the sneaky nature of the photos aside for the moment, they looked like they were either before the performance started, at the interval, or just after it ended – all are perfectly ok in my book. I’m on the fence about a quick snap during a curtain call – vaguely annoying to those around you but hardly a disturbance for the performers.
But you are right, during the actual performance your phone/camera should always stay silent and out of sight.
btw – the photo her friend took had me speechless for a moment. I think his Monkey Movie physique may just leave Caius Martius and Pine in the dust. Wow.
He is unfortunate looking. He looks like a slim cheez doodle.
Does Sienna M have a mirror in her home? Or a stylist with good eyesight? I’m going to guess No.
Tom is handsome. Would climb.
First High Rise clip I’ve come across! Only a minute, but hey….

That scene at the very end is hilarious.
