SPOILERS for Game of Thrones Season 6.
I’m not going to say that I was underwhelmed with the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere. I mean, I was so excited for new episodes that I was practically shaking with anticipation Sunday night. And for real, several storylines were moved forward significantly. Sansa, Theon, Brienne, Daenerys, Melisandre and the Dornish people all saw their plot lines inch forward significantly, which pleases me. But HBO is still not going to give us much to go on for future episodes. This was the description of episode 6.1, “The Red Woman,” given out by HBO:
The fate of Jon Snow is revealed. Daenerys meets a strong man. Tyrion gets used to living in Mereen. Sansa and Theon meet some unexpected allies. A rebellion arises in Dorne and Jaime Lannister arrives at King’s Landing with Myrcella.
Purposefully vague, but nothing blatantly untrue. Jon Snow IS dead (for now). Sansa and Theon did ally themselves with some “unexpected” people. A “rebellion” did happen in Dorne. Maybe we don’t want HBO to spell it out for us. Maybe the anticipation is worth it. So, with that in mind, here are the descriptions for the next two episodes:
For the May 1 episode, titled “Home”: “Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) trains with the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow). In King’s Landing, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) advises Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman). Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) demands good news, but has to make his own. At Castle Black, the Night’s Watch stands behind Thorne (Owen Teale). Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) proposes a plan, and Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) entertains other proposals.”
And for the May 8 episode, titled “Oathbreaker”: “Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift.”
The descriptions SHOULD read:
Boring Greyjoy crap happens.
Winter is coming.
Tyrion is witty, drunk.
HODOR.
The Tower of Joy, MAYBE.
Ghost eats Olly, barfs him up, eats him again.
Arya: still g-ddamn blind.
Tommen is the worst.
No, Ramsay is the worst.
Still no Gendry.
The North remembers.
Still… I’m feeling hopeful about “Bran meets the past.” Apparently, they cast a young Ned Stark for one scene. Hm.

I’ve been reading rumors of Wun Wun’s heroism which ends in sacrifice. The suspense is killing me.
Why does everyone expect Gendry to come back?? His story arc is complete. Davis told him, “save yourself, stay out of this sh*t.” And he did. He probably went back to Flea Bottom, married a former Littlefinger whore, and made babies.
We liked him. So, we want him back.
Yeeeh, we liked him. We demand him back.
Because with Dany being stuck in Essos, and everyone pretty much knowing the truth about Tommen and with Stannis AND Shireen dead,it stands to reason that Gendry is the last living Baratheon heir to the throne.
He may be the last living Baratheon, but who is left to legitimize him? I’d like to see him again, but there is zero chance he’d ever be considered an heir to the throne.
I want him for Arya.
Good question. Davos knows the truth. And I’m not sure what would happen if Tommen was to die (because we know he will as per Maggie the Frog’s prophecy). The kingdom would be in Chaos without an available heir. Unless by that time Dany makes it back to assume the throne
I think if/when Tommen goes, the Tyrell’s will try to swoop in. Margaery will turn up conveniently pregnant with the “true heir” or something. The promise of an infant with the proper lordly parents would be more acceptable than a bastard from Flea Bottom. Then Dany and the dragons will show up and eat them all.
If/when Tommen dies, Westeros reverts to a Theocracy under the High Sparrow. THANKS A LOT, CERSEI.
Gendry is a very peripheral character in the books. He was made more important in the show because he was a mix of 2 characters.
So I doubt he’ll make a come back. They (and we) have plenty on their (our) hands already !
Not all the Greyjoy stuff should be boring, especially if/when Euron shows up. And I am totally here for the Tower of Joy scenes!

It’s “Oathbreaker” not “keeper.” I assumed that’s the episode we get a re-animated Jon Snow, released from his oath to the Night’s Watch by technicality of death.

Yes, but if you are a book reader, there is an even more interesting use of the term Oathbreaker. Hint: LSH and Brienne!

1/ Crow’s Eye is such a psycho. I am ready for Ramsay to die (an atrocious and painfull death) and for Euron to take over on all the batsh!t crazy stuff

I kind of like that it’s vague, because it intrigues me. I do hope that the bit about Bran meeting the past does involve the Tower of Joy, that would be so awesome to see! (Not awesome in the sense of what actually happens there, but awesome because it’s only sort of been alluded to and some clear answers for a change would be nice).
As for the rest of it, I could do with less Ironborn and more Sansa / Brienne asskickery. Honestly, that was probably my favorite part of ep 1.
Agree. I love the vagueness. Does anybody truly want to be told exactly what’s going to happen? Maybe those people that skip to the end of the book. Not me. The anticipation is delicious!

Count on it…Rickon is totally getting delivered into the hands of Ramsay. Since Sansa is gone and they veered from the plot of the book (where Ramsay held an Arya imposter), they need to give Ramsay something to lure Jon to Winterfell to battle.
Also, I’m guessing the thing that Varys learns is the identity of the leader of the Sons of the Harpy.
The spoilers I’ve read are heartbreaking with regard to Rickon. I’m hoping it’s a foiler.

Maybe if Jon is reanimated he and Sansa will unite simply for Winterfell? Jon will be released from his vows. I think Ramsay having Rickon would make all the North rise up against him since it would make Rickon a straight up prisoner. It’s not like Ramsay would be able to marry Rickon for legitimacy in ruling the North. Rickon is wild though; he and ShaggyDog were getting progressively more vicious with the loss of each family member so maybe that would be the end of Ramsay. I’d be good with that! If he does end up getting ahold of Rickon he’d better not torture him. My stomach can’t take it. Maybe he’s learned to be more prudent with what parts he removes from whom.
I think Roose Bolton has poked the bear too much with Ramsay. Now that Ramsay has been legitimized he doesn’t need his dad. He’s probably going to flay his dad and fry Walda to keep his position.
I think Ramsay will get his hands on Rickon, but who delivers him there? Little Finger? I hate that little bastard. I wouldn’t mind if he’s flayed.

If Jon and Sansa reunited they couldn’t rule the North together because neither of them are heirs to anything. Jon is a bastard no matter who his parents are and Sansa is married and has brothers who are alive so she’s behind both her husband and brothers in terms of succession.
It’s important to remember with ASOIAF/GOT that they don’t fit the traditional fantasy narrative or tropes – in fact, they are deliberately and brutally subverted. It’s likely that there won’t be a satisfying ending where the Starks band together, or one of them becomes the ruler of the IT. Jon seems like the archetypal medieval fantasy hero (as did Ned – until that was subverted in the most shocking way possible) and considering Jon’s ‘kill the boy and become the man’ theme I think things are going to get darker with him when he comes back.
What was unexpected about who Sansa and Theon met up with? Who didn’t see that coming? Even Sansa knew they were out there in theory (though technically she wouldn’t have “expected” it, fine).
