One of my closest friend’s kid will be in the same class as one of Madonna’s children (David? Can’t remember). I love my friend dearly but when he told me he joked with his kid saying “you need to have David as your best friend” I felt really sad. Being a celebrity spawn sucks man. And poor David is adopted so I can only imagine the bad jokes… Hopefully this new generation is gonna be better than mine was but in a Lycée Français… (And before you throw the first rock, I went to that school myself).

I wouldn’t terribly worry about David. He lives in a great house, has great food, health insurance, a great school – I reserve my worry for children who experience material neglect, violence and trauma first.

      • slowsnow says:

        @thaliasghost (great name)
I would go on a long thing about how you can be miserable for many different reasons and in different contexts and my heart having compassion for all those very different situations etc, money not buying happiness and being adjusted to society + the adoption while still having living parents + etc but I have a text to finish.

A close friend who grew up in a very, very privileged Hollywood world has so many horror stories of the ways she and other school friends were neglected or emotionally abused by their fabulous parents, that I must agree with@ slowsnow. I hope for the best, but you truly never know.

Most celebrity kids have a relatively normal rich kid life. David and all the other celeb kids are usually fine.

      • Jayna says:

Yeah. I’m not a fan of Madonna anymore, but I do go on her instagram. She posts little videos and photos of the kids, and they seem so happy and a loving family. They are moving to Portugal for David’s aspirations to be a soccer player, and he was accepted into some prestigious academy there.

She showed him in one video in NYC doing jumps with his horse, and another one with one of the twins with their first lesson. The twins absolutely adore David, and he is so sweet with them in the photos. Mercy is great on the piano. Madonna’s pediatric surgery wing in Malawi opened, and Mercy gave a sweet speech. Such a poised and classy young girl. The pediatric surgery wing is named after her. And David did a dance routine with other boys on stage. Out on the huge property at Madonna’s Hampton’s home, it shows them out on buggies and swimming, etc, and even there there are horses out there. The twins seem to have acclimated well and are a pile of energy and so cute and loud, but in a good way. LOL

There’s all kinds of little videos of all of them playing and making up dance routines. After watching so many of the videos and photos, the kids do seem to have a wonderful home life and are loved and exposed to so many wonderful opportunities. And Madonna’s home does come across as a home where living with children is warm, even though she is rich and in a massive home.

And can I just say, David has shot up in height, and has great style for his age.

Madonna just had her 59th birthday and had a party.

@Jayna David did not get into a random football academy but Benfica’s Academy, under -12, which is the top team in Portugal when it comes to football. It’s very well known to any European football fan out there. There is a day-to-day tracking of his activities in the media, where silly journalism claims him to be the “star” of the team, which I very much doubt but call me cynical. He is 11, that cannot be healthy.
But listen, you seem to find that a child can be taken away from his country and family (not just talking about his parents), be in his mum’s instagram and be constantly photographed by paps without any loss of sense of reality. More power to you, what can I say, we definitely don’t agree. One thing for sure: I want to believe in you because after all this is a child we are talking about, so you’ll never see me angry of he turns out alright!

      • Jayna says:

@Slowsnow, David isn’t papped much at all. He goes to school every day and I assume does activites in his city of NYC, but he’s not papped. His life isn’t like the Affleck kids papped weekly. Madonna has always made sure of that.
David has met his biological father once he got a little older. He has a photo of himself with his father that is figured prominently in Madonna’s house. He is taken back to Malawi periodically, his birth country, so he is not unconnected from it nor from. the people

And maybe I was unclear. Most of Madonna’s Instagram is about herself for her pop fans. And the photos and videos of him on Madonna’s instagram are one here and there, not that many over a course of a year. The same with Mercy. And I’m talking a 30 second video of him or photo doing something, etc. It’s mostly the twins she posts because they are just four. Though, in Malawi there were photos because of the opening of the surgery center and the family was there. And that’s a good thing for him being a big part of that, being the country he was born in. I don’t know what more an adopted mother could do.

You see him here and there when he travels or something with Madonna. But like Rocco and Lourdes and Mercy, they have lived a fairly protected life as far as their actual day-to-day living. The paps catch them sometimes on the streets of NYC, but very rarely.

How he turns out? I don’t know. But Madonna will make her kids get out and work and not let them be lazy. She has said that. So he won’t be able to graduate and lay around on mommy’s money like Rod Stewart’s kids all did, and now look at his adult children, living off him. He’s a child of Madonna, and he, like other celebrity kids, learn how to deal with intrusive media. Lola has done a great job of that.

      • BJ says:

Since you seem to know so much about her why does she keep shaving those twin girls hair. When the older girl Mercy was their age she didnt shave her hair and they are from the same place, same orphanage aren’t they?

      • Jayna says:

@BJ, it looks like their hair is growing in to me. She did shave it in the beginning. I have no clue why. I’m not a fan of Madonna anymore and dislike many things about her, but I do think she’s doing a good job with her children.

    • Snowflake says:

Idk why all that had to be brought up because you said you feel sorry for him. I do too. He will have people pretending to be his friend so they can experience his lifestyle. Then if they get mad, they will doubtless insult his mom. She gets shade already for adopting children of a different race and country.

We just battened up the shack in the Bahamas this weekend. Hurricane shutters on all the houses/buildings on our cay, animals ferried to a safer location well ahead of the storm, and smaller boats moved to a more protected harbor.

One of my dearest friends (an ex bf) lives in South Florida with his family now. His daughter’s family (living 1 mi. from the beach) are being made to evacuate. He’s 6 mi. inland, and they’re going to his place. He’s still plenty worried. Most of the stores in his area (Boyton Beach) are out of almost everything (esp. water- that went first).

      Prayers to all: Stay safe!

Her fingers look like fat little cocktail sausages. And I have no words for her teeth. Why does she have to do that? At least her ass isn’t showing in the photo, small favours.

I met Nicole S. and the other Pussycat Dolls girls in about 2008 and even then Nicole could not move her face AT ALL. It was really disconcerting. I recall being suprised at how pretty the others were under all that ridiculous make-up they all wore. Nicole was beautiful but in an uncanny valley way because her face didn’t move and it appeared to require a lot of effort just to smile.

I think Madonna looks great, grill or no grill. Let’s stretch the boundaries of what is “appropriate” for a woman of a “certain age.” If she digs it, it’s no one else’s business. No need to criticize her for the “sin” of trying to look younger. To paraphrase Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gentle into that good night” of female invisibility and irrelevance once you’re past 30. Proclaim you any damn way you please.
