Donald Trump refuses to do a virtual debate & calls Kamala Harris a ‘monster’

President Trump arrives at the White House after departing Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

If the second presidential debate happens, it will happen virtually. And we have a maskless Karen to thank for it: Karen Pence broke the debate commission’s mask rules and ran up to her Pinkeye Husband without a mask on the debate stage. The debate commission swore up and down that if anyone violated their mask mandate, they would be kicked out. Karen violated it and she was not kicked out. So now no one gets to debate in the same room. And Donald Trump is bigly mad about it.

The Commission on Presidential Debates said on Thursday that the next debate between President Trump and Joseph R. Biden Jr. would be held virtually because of health concerns about the coronavirus. But President Trump immediately dismissed the idea, declaring that he would not participate and calling the idea of a remote debate “ridiculous.”

The high-stakes standoff between Mr. Trump and the debate organizers emerged on Thursday morning, after the commission, with no warning to campaign representatives, said the Oct. 15 debate would feature candidates debating remotely “in order to protect the health and safety of all involved.”

But Mr. Trump, who tested positive last week for the coronavirus, immediately objected to the concept in a television interview, saying: “I’m not going to waste my time on a virtual debate, that’s not what debating is all about. You sit behind a computer and do a debate — it’s ridiculous.”

“That’s not acceptable to us,” Mr. Trump told the anchor Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business of the virtual debate format. “I’m not going to do a virtual debate.”

Mr. Trump said he only learned of the debate commission’s decision on Thursday morning, minutes before he got on the phone for an interview. He accused the commission of “trying to protect Biden.”

Mr. Biden’s campaign issued a more receptive statement on Thursday. “Vice President Biden looks forward to speaking directly to the American people,” said Kate Bedingfield, a Biden deputy campaign manager.

[From The NY Times]

Trump said one correct thing: the debate commission IS trying to protect Biden. They’re trying to protect Biden from contracting the coronavirus from a feeble, demented, roid-raging Trump. And if you ask me, Trump was never going to do the second debate anyway, even if it had been in-person. He’s too physically weak, he wouldn’t have been able to stand for 90 minutes, and I doubt he would even be able to sit comfortably for 90 minutes.

During the interview this morning, Trump also called Kamala a “monster.” Here are the clips…[skull emjoi]…he does sound hoarse.

They are also trying to protect the moderators, the camera people, the audience, the sound and lighting technicians…..

  2. MaryContrary says:

Yet again-just when I think he could not be a bigger a-hole, he drops to a new low.

  3. Mignionette says:

He is literally losing it in front of the world and not one single publication is calling for his resignation.

Obama nearly got impeached for a tan suit people. Make it make sense….?

  4. Pamspam says:

    Isn’t he dead yet? Ugh.

  5. Faithmobile says:

This melt down is alienating the key demographics he needs to win: over 65 and women. But honestly with Biden leading by double digits in polls that have been weighted for the hidden Trumpers, he is well outside the margin of error. With the main swing states and bell weather states able to report a victor by midnight the night of the election, the Trump admin will have a difficult time claiming fraud. There is a blue wave coming and it’s going to be definitive!

    • lucy2 says:

Everyone has been saying with the mail in votes, we may not know Election Night, but I’m feeling like it may be very, very clear and definitive that night now. Biden is leading in all the swing states, and really close in several typically red states.

But I don’t want to get to optimistic, people need to ignore the polls and vote like Biden is trailing. No complacency or apathy this time!

      • bluemoonhorse says:

We will know in about 24 hours. I don’t doubt it.

      • fluffy_bunny says:

I’m in a swing state. I mailed my ballot yesterday. Spent the whole day watching the mailbox waiting for the mail truck. I voted for Biden.

    • Lightpurple says:

The blue wave MUST swamp all red boats! We need to flip the Senate and some of those Senate races are much tighter than the GOP ever expected. Texas, Colorado, North Carolina, South Carolina, Iowa, Montana, Maine are just some of the places where the Senate races are very close. Let’s get behind those Senate candidates and give Biden the Congress he needs. We may not be able to oust McConnell from the Senate but we can oust him from the majority.

And frankly, if he loses the Senate, he might not get the support of the party to continue as minority leader

      • MaryContrary says:

This is SO important. Everything needs to go blue.

      • Lightpurple says:

MaryContrary, I referenced below that I was watching Justice Breyer speak and as soon as I typed that, he started talking about how if we don’t like the direction the country is going in, we need to take the steering wheel and the Senate is where we start. Tell the Senators what we think and if they don’t listen or won’t listen, remove them. He looked directly at his screen and shouted: “VOTE!”

      • Truthiness says:

I live in a blue state so I have been contributing small amounts to senate races where we are tied or really close. Having a larger advertising budget helps get the candidate’s message out.

  6. Merricat says:

The last rantings of a very sick man who is losing, losing, losing.

  7. minx says:

“They cut you off whenever they want.” Bingo.

    • fluffy_bunny says:

You mean they have rules and consequences. This man has never faced a consequence in his life. Not even now because he’s been given the best medical care money can buy.

    • Snappyfish says:

Biden should go to the debate, speak to the American people & answer their questions while Gaspy McFascist hides

As for the Monster comment he is taking a book out of goebbels101. Project yourself on your opponents. We all know who the Monster is

  8. Josie Bean says:

My god – he is a sick man. Now, Trump is too busy focusing on himself to be paying any attention to Chris Christie’s progress, but I bet there are a few people in the Trump administration who are paying very close attention indeed to how he is doing. He has been in hospital since last Friday. No news one way or the other about how he is doing. It won’t look good if Mr Christie becomes extremely ill from a disease he contracted when attending Trump’s Rose Garden do, especially after Trump tells us all that COVID is nothing to fear.

  9. Boxy Lady says:

45 is trying to spread this virus everywhere but *especially* to Biden and Biden’s camp. And he’s pissed that he’s not getting a 2nd chance to spread it. What a disgusting person!

    • Chris says:

Wait, I thought according to conspiracy theories Biden and the Democrats gave the virus (that doesn’t exist or does and isn’t that serious) to Republicans. Because it’s so crazy that Democrats didn’t get the virus, but the Republicans did! But they still gave the virus to Republicans some how. How could that be!? Sounds suspicious to me. Therefore they need to have a in person debate instead of virtual because….

The mental gymnastics these lunatics make for Trump makes my head hurt. Stop spreading the plague you ghouls! I’d like to see my high risk family members again some day. I cannot wait to not hear from this blubbering cyst again and his fellow goons.

  10. Carol says:

Trump couldnt even stop tweeting doing VP debate. He couldn’t stand even his own vp in the spot light for 90 minutes.

  11. Sam the Pink says:

Let’s be honest why he doesn’t want to do a virtual debate – because if it’s virtual, the moderator could have the ability to mute him or cut him off. He needs to be there in person because he needs to be able to rant and rave to his heart’s content. He has never been able to work within the parameters of an actual debate but the virtual format would give the moderator a lot more control.

    • Lightpurple says:

He also doesn’t know how to use Zoom. Biden is proving himself quite comfortable with the format.

I’m watching a livestreaming event with Justice Stephen Breyer, age 82, right now. He was having trouble at the start but realized that the WiFi reception in his house varies depending on the room so he moved with his laptop, giving a door of his house while doing it before he set a backdrop. Beautiful home, fantastic artwork. His staircase is lined with what look like Al Hirschfeld prints. He’s a delightful man and he is quite comfortable with the Zoom format and the glitches that occur. I can’t imagine Trump dealing with any of it before tossing the computer.

  12. Case says:

Anyone who doesn’t want to do a virtual debate is bad at debating. He can’t use his intimidation tactics virtually. Which is fine — give Joe Biden the two hours to speak. Give the time to the only person willing to show up for the American people.

  13. bluemoonhorse says:

“Trump yells out of nowhere, “why isn’t Hillary Clinton being indicted?!” – Did he really do this?

    • Veronica S. says:

Yes. He’s been ranting for days on Twitter that Clinton, Obama, etc. should be imprisoned for the administration looking into Russian interference.

      • bluemoonhorse says:

ROLFMAO. Sorry. But that continues to be HILARIOUS. Especially weeks from election.

      • Rapunzel says:

He “declassified” the “Obamagate” material because he has nothing left except “But Obama and Hillary”

      • bluemoonhorse says:

@Rapunzel he’s always been a paranoid POS but I think the drugs this week have helped him along. That and his desperation seeing every poll putting him at losing. Bigly.

    • CecilN says:

I’m sorry but I laughed so hard at that last clip especially the journalist’s face. Time to get the get the rectal thermometer to check his temperature…

    • Grey says:

It’s crazy that she continues to live in his head, rent free.

  14. H says:

He’s claiming that Gold Star Families gave him the virus. Wait, I thought Hope Hicks and the military gave him the virus? There’s no low he won’t go to.

  15. Becks1 says:

I 100% think the debate should still go on, virtually, with Biden taking the questions from the people who were going to attend the town hall debate, and if Trump doesn’t want to be there, then Biden just gets his time.

  16. Lady Luna says:

They are saying that we won’t know until all mailing votes are counted, so that could be until November 20th.

    • bluemoonhorse says:

Not going to happen. We will know within about 24 hours. Don’t let the Trump propaganda machine get you down.

      • Emma33 says:

Do you mean we’ll know within 24 hours from now? How is that so? Do all the postal and early votes get counted and tallied? (I’m Australian, don’t know how it works there).

      • TaraBest says:

@Emma33 no, many states can only start counting ballots 14-7 days before election day, with many not able to count until election day, November 3rd. Bluemoon means that we’ll likely have a winner declared within 24 hours of November 3rd. With the numbers of people voting early, either by mail or in person, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did have results that soon.

The state I’m from has been exclusively mail in voting for a decade now, and we rarely have to wait longer than the day after election for results. And, when that has happened it’s typically because one candidate contests the results and calls for a recount, or more time to process ballots.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

      Already mailed in my ballot!

P!**y. He’s so full of drugs to keep him upright it’ll be what ends him before COVID. He can’t let the people see him on his feet taking in a debate.

Biden and Kamala are strong. They give the feel of presidential and competent which… I honestly forgot about because I never thought we could come back to it.

  17. Veronica S. says:

Read: he’s afraid of what will happen when he can be muted and can’t dominate the debate with obfuscating nonsense.

  18. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Poor poor thing. He’s come to realize he isn’t Hefner, and he hasn’t been able to get it up in a very, VERY, long time. He won’t be dying in his own bed at the age of 80 with a belly full of wine and with girl’s mouth around his cock. Sucks to be him.

  19. Agirlandherdog says:

He wasn’t going to do another debate anyway. He was eviscerated after the first. Many of us even wondered if he was faking covid to get out of the second. He can bluster all he wants, but he doesn’t want to debate Biden. I wouldn’t be surprised if having Karen Pence violate commission rules was an attempt to bring about this very set of events.

  20. Edna says:

Name calling and disrespecting women…especially women of color. Covid needs to bitch slap him like it did Herman Cain.

  21. Chris says:

He is a walking, talking biohazard.

  22. Katherine says:

I mean, how dare they try and protect healthy people from contracting a dangerous disease from you

  23. Valerie says:

This from the guy who made sure he called CNN on 9/11 to brag about having the tallest buildings in the city. Feck right off. And yes, they are trying to protect Biden—FROM THE DEADLY VIRUS THAT’S GOING AROUND.
