Mark Wahlberg gained 20 pounds in three weeks for a role

Mark Wahlberg is making his move for an Oscar. You can tell because he’s packing on weight for a role. Last month, Mark was on Jimmy Kimmel Live and told Jimmy he was boxing, training for a role about Father Stuart Long who trained to be a boxer, went to Los Angeles to be an actor, fell in love, had an accident and became a priest. He affected many people’s lives before dying of IBM, a muscular disorder similar to muscular dystrophy. Throughout the course of his eventful life, he gained weight apparently. So Mark told Jimmy he intended to put on 30 pounds for the role and the other day, posted evidence that he has added 20 pounds, with 20 more to go.

Mark Wahlberg must be chowing down on his Wahlburgers.
The fitness-obsessed actor, 49, revealed he has already gained 20 pounds and is “going up another 20” for his new movie, “Father Stu.”

“From left photo 3 weeks ago to this, now,” he captioned shirtless before-and-after photos on Instagram Monday. “Thanks to @chef_lawrence_d cooking.”

The weight gain hasn’t turned off the “Spenser Confidential” star’s wife, Rhea Durham, who gushed over her husband.

“And it looks just as hot in person baby ❤️,” the model, 42, commented.

Even Mario Lopez thought Wahlberg still looked handsome, writing, “Yo. You wear mad chubby well homie!”

For fans concerned about the rapid weight gain, Wahlberg’s company Performance Inspired Nutrition clarified the “Ted” actor was going about it in a smart way.

“Doing it the healthy ‘weigh’ and keeping strong with hard #workouts!” the company wrote.

Just days before sharing the photos, the “Deepwater Horizon” star filmed a video from his gym showing off his friend Kenny’s weight loss while highlighting his own weight gain.

“Kenny’s down 50 and I’m up about 20 😂 Inspired to be better!” he captioned the video. “I’m going up another 20. Yes it’s for a role. ✝️🙏❤️.”

*Shoulder shrug*. I’m not here to glorify weight gain as a talent. I appreciate Mark is emphasizing he’s doing it in the healthiest way possible but it’s not necessary for him to gain 30 pounds for a role, regardless of how he does it. Training to look like a proper boxer in the ring impresses me more. I’m tired of actors flexing about what they put their bodies through for a role as if they should be commended for it. Basically, Mark’s bragging about being able to afford to pay someone to help him put on an excessive amount of weight, so he can pretend to be an actual relatable person. However, watch this space because in six months, I’m sure we’ll have the follow up, titled: “Mark Wahlberg’s intense workout paid off, he showed off his pre-filming physique on IG.” And in the photo, behind him, will be the cleared off shelf where he intends to put all his awards for doing so.

In sadder news, Mark and his siblings lost their mother, Alma, in April. She’d been struggling with dementia for many years. May she rest in peace.

    Physically impossible.
Mark Wahlberg lies again. I’m so shocked.

    • Crows says:

Sadly I can gain crazy weight very quickly. But he’s pretty shit person and his real talent is fitness. Not a great dude

      • Tom says:

If they’re handing out Oscars for Ability to Pack on Pounds Quickly, I’d better start budgeting for an Armani tuxedo.

    • Lolo says:

TBF, It’s probably a ton of water weight/edema swelling. His diet was super restrictive so I imagine his body is also holding on to all it can get for dear life as well.

  2. SusanRagain says:

I have not followed Mark Walbergs’ career. I just don’t find him interesting or especially talented.
Nor his brother Donny. And Jenny McCartney is a hard.pass.

Gaining weight in a short period of time is easy to do. The struggle IRL is to keep it off and stay in good health.

  3. Merricat says:

Putting on 20 pounds is definitely the pinnacle of his achievement as an actor.

  4. Esmom says:

It’s depressing to me that people want to follow this guy’s journey, whatever he’s doing. Blech.

  5. Jezz says:

I put on 20 pounds in three weeks for a pandemic.

  6. SarahCS says:

I really don’t like this guy and won’t watch his films. I saw recent buzzfeed thing on actors who basically play the same role in every film with him listed on it and I can’t disagree with that!

    • Sankay says:

I don’t care for him either but he’s a big time producer and some of his movies/series are really good. One thing he was goood at, making more money.

  7. Gah says:

He was just in our town filming Jan- April and he brought an entire container shipment full of his fitness equipment. His body was rock solid and he ran on the beach w his security regularly. I suspect this is mostly water weight.

Also let’s not forget Mark’s history of assaulting Asians.

  8. Steph says:

Ugh. Why are ppl still giving this violent convicted racist airtime? They couldn’t find someone more deserving? Was there no other white guy in Hollywood who wasn’t jailed for blinding an Asian man for being Asian?

  9. sara says:

    He‘s a turd.
It just goes to show what his real body looks like. He restricts so hard and works out like a maniac for those abs. A few weeks of eating like me, and big surprise- he looks like me. The whole fairytale about how the chef is making a special weight gain diet is wack. Marky Mark is simply not calorie restrictive paleo eating anymore.

    20 lbs is 3 weeks?

    Hold my beer…

One of the greatest joys I’ve found in getting older is the realization that I would rather eat delicious tasty food than eat boring food and weigh 15lbs less.

His diet sounds terrible. I would be so cranky eating that bland AF food all the time. Even his weight gain diet sounds boring. But! An excellent example of how it really is calories in/calories out. You can eat all the lean protein and low-carb veggies you want and still gain weight.

I must be VERY talented. I remember gaining over 100 lbs in less a year. Feel free to mail me a prize.
