Did anyone else even remember that there was speculation about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attending this year’s Met Gala? Travis has never attended a Met Gala – Taylor hasn’t attended a gala since 2016, the start of a particularly wild Tiddle-summer. It seems absurd to think that Taylor and Travis would attend this year’s Met Gala. Given Taylor’s disappearing act for the past three months, it’s even wilder to think that she would pop up at the biggest night in fashion. And yet, both TMZ and People Magazine ran pieces about why Taylor and Travis didn’t go to the gala.
The most famous couple in the world is NOT at the Met Gala … but it’s not because they didn’t get invited.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were invited to Monday’s Met Gala in New York City, but they could not make it work as a result of their schedules.
Taylor knows what she’s missing out on, but Travis doesn’t. She was last at the Met Gala in 2016, when she was a co-chair … that year, the theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” Travis has never been to the event.
Fans have been dying to see Taylor and Travis in public … but it won’t happen at the Met … and the last time they’ve been spotted together was back on March 14, when they ventured out in the Big Apple to break bread at Del Frisco’s Grille.
People Mag just backed up TMZ’s reporting and reiterated that their Swift/Kelce sources insist that all is well in Traylorville: “They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoy it. They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It’s a special time for them.” To be clear, Travis has been seen and photographed. He’s been doing his New Heights podcast, he’s been posting on Instagram (or rather, his team has been posting), he’s been hanging out with friends in Las Vegas and more. Taylor is thoroughly underground, in her Incognito Era. Is something up? Is there something else going on? I really don’t know. But I wasn’t surprised that they didn’t go to the gala.

I had that thought the other day too. And like two days later Lainey gossip alluded to the fact I she’s not been seen on socials at all, even at friends birthday parties that she was most likely at. She thought it would lead to pregnancy speculation.
I can’t decide if I think she would have a baby before getting married, because she’s always seemed to want pretty traditional (?) relationships (I assume because she’s close to her mom). It would be fun if she was expecting, and be a pretty big surprise.

Good for them. They have had an insane few years. They have been spotted together over the last few months so i’m not sure why people are speculating about a breakup when they spend time separately with their friends.
I hope Taylor is writing, resting, baking, or doing whatever else brings her joy after such a busy time.
She may be having “work” done, going thru IVF or freezing eggs or is in Early stage pregnancy which would be amazing!
The freezing eggs or other fertility treatment (or pregnancy) did cross my mind, I won’t deny it. I normally don’t like to speculate on that sort of thing with celebrities. But my niece who is the same age as Taylor had her eggs frozen a year ago, so my mind did wander there. I also read that she was renovating one of her houses, I think the one in Rhode Island? Which doesn’t necessarily mean anything. When you have that kind of money you can renovate any time you feel like it. Still, it gives nesting vibes. So maybe she’s just nesting, for which I wouldn’t blame her at all. She had an exhausting few years.

It would have caused break-up rumors if one went without the other. The theme this year would have been perfect for Travis though. Taylor knows how to lay low and stay completely out of the public eye and periodically lays low. I like the idea of the met gala, but it seems to have lost some of its prestige. Anna seems to have lost her touch. Do the invites need to focus sooo heavily on young female pop artists and the Kardashians? Do A-listers really want to rub shoulders with the Kardashians?

This! I lost interest the year that Anna Wintour caved to Kanye and invited the Kardashian’s. Ever since then the trashy Kardashian/Jenners have been front and centre.
But I also think that coming to the Met as your first red carpet (or just coming as a couple) is a passé thing and no A list couples went there
As long as it’s the Kardashian prom, she won’t be going. There’s literally no upside for her to attend. IMO, she’s clearly actively trying to go away and let people miss her a bit… and equally, Travis copped it a lot over his SuperBowl showing/season last year. So he’s likely just as keen to lay low and be seen to focus on football.
The pregnancy and split rumours are both starting to get louder – her team has addressed the split speculation but not the former. Which is interesting but maybe it’s as simple as no media outlet has dared to ask yet. It would be tricky to navigate the is she/isn’t she part of early pregnancy in that bright a spotlight. It will be interesting to see if it happens how her team manages it – I suspect we’d just get a pap pic one day when she’s unavoidably showing like Margot Robbie did.

I guess people forget because she had such an insane last couple of years, or maybe its a lot of new fans who weren’t around pre-Eras, but she usually goes radio silent between albums. Probably partially self-care, and partially to let people start to miss her so when she shows up with another project, it’s met with excitement rather than aggression.
Perhaps she wants to keep her news under wraps…a la Rihanna 😜
