Cannes: Mia Threapleton wore Oscar de la Renta to her big premiere

Over the weekend, Wes Anderson’s latest ensemble film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The new film is The Phoenician Scheme, and the trailer makes it look like peak Wes Anderson, to an impossibly twee degree. I’m saying that as Wes Anderson fan – I love his films, but I have to be in the mood for them, you know? Well, The Phoenician Scheme will be a major debut for Mia Threapleton, aka Kate Winslet’s oldest child (she’s 24). Mia has been acting for a few years now, mostly smaller roles, but this film will get her a lot of attention. She dressed for the moment too – she wore a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown in a rich emerald. I love this!!

Benedict Cumberbatch is in The Phoenician Scheme, and he was in Cannes with his wife Sophie. Bendy’s hairline really dropped off, damn. Sophie looks good (minus the bangs).

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior for the photocall – I love this? So boho and chic.

Diane Kruger in Dolce & Gabbana – I’ve seen fashion sites praise this and I don’t get it? It looks poorly made and that lace looks cheap.

Zoey Deutch’s Chanel look is getting a lot of attention – this is one of the better peplums I’ve seen in Cannes, and overall, this is a very classic look.

    J. Law looks like she dressed up as 1970s Meryl Streep! I like that.

I saw Dakota’s look and thought “that looks like something Halle Berry would wear” and then the next photo was Halle wearing something very similar.

That’s funny. My first though was JLaw looks like me headed to class in the mid-90s wearing my newest thrift store finds. I don’t even hate it

I like everything here except Diane’s dress. Idk if the styling is just off or the dress shape is weird?

    Mia’s look is especially lovely.

  3. Jais says:

Dakota and Halle both looked like a smoke show. And I actually loved that Dior look on JL. Very chill and cool. I wasn’t hugely into the white Dior dress from the premiere. It was fine. But this? This was cool.

  4. Little Red says:

Mia’s emerald green Oscar de la Renta reminds me of Kate’s emerald green McQueen for Givenchy that she wore to the 1998 Oscars.

  5. Jegede says:

Mia is the image of her father, Jim,

Her dress pays homage to this iconic Kate Winslet ensemble at the 1998 Oscars.

She really is. I keep seeing people, including newspaper columnists, say she reminds them of Kate and I’m like “um, have you seen a photo of Jim Threapelton?”

Another actor/actress I remember when they were born. In fact, three from this post alone! Mia, Zoe and Dakota. I’m getting old!

ODLR is MAGA. Not only do they dress MAGA female figures, but they promote that they dress them across their IG and social channels. Anyone can buy a brand off the rack and wear it, but you will often see brands distance themselves and avoid social media tags when figures that don’t align politically with their values wear their clothes. ODLR actively promotes their MAGA relationships.
