Jennifer Aniston would love to do a third ‘Horrible Bosses’ movie: ‘we need comedy’

There was a decent stretch of time in the 2010s when dark comedies were being churned out. It felt like they were the natural evolution from the Adam Sandler comedies of my youth. Some of those movies included Game Night, Tag, and Horrible Bosses. There really haven’t been many of those types of movies post-pandemic, have there? I guess I could count Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but I don’t know. I don’t think the comedy genre has bounced back since Covid. Jennifer Aniston wants to do her part in changing that, though! In an interview with People, Jen shared that she, Jason Bateman, and Charlie Day have been talking about doing a third Horrible Bosses movie. She is totally down with it because the people need more comedy movies, damn it!

Jennifer Aniston would love to step back into the shoes of one of her past characters — but it’s not Rachel Green.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the actress, 56, reveals which of her projects across her illustrious career she would be most interested in revisiting, amid an era when reboots and long-awaited sequels are so popular.

“Oh my God, this literally came up the other day: Horrible Bosses,” Aniston says, referring to the 2011 comedy film and its 2014 sequel, which follow employees as they deal with — and plan how to murder — their abusive bosses.

“Jason Bateman and I were talking about that, and Charlie Day has been talking about it a lot too,” continues the Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winner. “So that’s something that we think would be super fun.”

“The characters are hilarious, and we need comedy. I personally think comedy is a necessity. That’s one that we would have a really fun time, I think, going back to, seeing where those crazy cats are today,” she adds.

I’m actually fine with another Horrible Bosses movie because I selfishly hope it will do well enough to bring the genre back. I miss a good, mindless comedy! I even miss a cheesy/bad mindless comedy. Not every movie needs to be 120+ minutes and about superheroes, dinosaurs, war, or historical figures. Escape is nice. Studios execs and directors are always complaining about declining audiences. Has anyone thought about making movies that make people laugh and feel good? Look at how well Minecraft did. Granted, it wasn’t a comedy, but kids found it hilarious and fun. Give us grown-ups something to laugh at. Bring the (dark) comedy back to theaters!

  1. I’m all in for bringing a good comedy back to the movies. We all do need a good laugh to bring us a small bit of relief from the times we are now surviving.

    I’m down for that.

I actually liked Horrible Bosses II.
One of the few sequels that tried to expand a storyline, rather than just do-over the first.
Christoph Waltz is underrated in comedy.

(Also excited for the new Morning Show season.😁😁😁😁)

  3. FancyPants says:

I only saw the first one where her character was trying to rape Charlie Day’s character the whole time. Who would want two more of those?? Ugh.

  4. NotMika says:

All I want is to go see a comedy in theaters with my female friends, laugh my ass off, and then get wings. This was a perfect Friday night when I was in high school. I miss comedy so much!!!!!!

  5. Kittenmom says:

I have no desire to see Aniston in anything. But Charlie Day…yes, please!
