Fat Joe drinks 30-40 Diet Pepsis a day: ‘I don’t know how safe that is. I’m not a doctor’

Fat Joe is probably best known for What’s Luv? with Ashanti, and he has other hits, most from around 10+ years ago like All the Way Up with Remy Ma, Lean Back and Another Round with Chris Brown. He stays under the gossip radar somewhat, and I last remember hearing about him when he played a therapist in Jennifer Lopez’s vanity project movie, This Is Me…Now. Fat Joe spent three months out of a four month sentence in federal prison in 2013 for tax evasion. While there, he picked up a habit of drinking Diet Pepsi all day that he hasn’t quit. On the Joe and Jada podcast, Fat Joe admitted that he drinks 30-40 Diet Pepsis a day!

If Diet Pepsi only has one fan, it’s Fat Joe because the rapper drinks “30 to 40” of the beverages daily.

“And I don’t know how safe that is. I’m not a doctor. I don’t give a f–k. I drink too many Diet Pepsi, a lot, you know what I’m saying?” Fat Joe, 54, confessed during the Tuesday, July 22, episode of the “Joe and Jada” podcast. “Very, very much – I got a problem. [I drink] 30, 40 a day.”

The “Lean Back” artist’s confession visibly shocked his co-host, rapper Jadakiss. Nonetheless, Fat Joe stood ten toes down on his love for Diet Pepsi.

“If I went to the doctor, God forbid, and they told me, ‘Yo, you have a problem due to Diet Pepsi.’ I gotta take the shit on the chin,” he continued. “I gotta just be like. I knew I was just doing too much with them Diet Pepsis, right? They’re not stopping me.”

Fat Joe served four months in prison on tax evasion charges in 2013. While incarcerated, his Diet Pepsi fix was not neglected.

“I was in jail with 11,000 Diet Pepsis. Imagine you in jail. You can’t have nothing else, but Diet Pepsis are legal,” he said. “Holy s–t, that’s like you were cigarettes.”

I used to drink Diet Pepsi before they changed the formula from aspartame to sucralose/Splenda in 2012, and after that I switched to Coke Zero although I don’t drink soda anymore. My limit was about two a day. Diet Pepsi went back to using aspartame in early 2018. This means that Fat Joe was drinking the Splenda-based Diet Pepsi all day in prison and that he stuck with it even as they changed the formula. Did he not taste the difference? I don’t know why I’m focusing on that aspect of it when there are so many other problems with this.

A family member used to drink about a case of Diet Pepsi a day and we all used to gossip about how it wasn’t healthy for them. Fat Joe is drinking three times that amount! How is this man not chronically dehydrated? Does he have to pee all day? You don’t have to be a doctor to know this isn’t wise. Plus he’s lost over 200 pounds and is on a low carb diet. Good for him. Of course he knows it’s not healthy to mainline diet soda.

My dad was drank at least a case of coke a day my entire life. For breakfast, lunch & dinner. Super unhealthy & he was diagnosed with colon & bowel cancer late in life. Not sure of the correlation but it can’t be great for you. I can’t have any artificial sweetener due to allergies so I stick to water or juice mostly.

I very unfortunately discovered water flavor enhancers and it’s changed my water game. I need to get back to just WATER water.

      • Karla says:

You could try herbal teas? Lemon and ginger or peppermint or „verveine“ (whatever that is in English).
Let them cool down and Drink cold. It gives a natural flavour to Water without sugar.

I was just going to say that I’ve read about diet sodas causing colon cancer. I don’t remember where I read it, it was a long time ago, but soon after I did two people that I know that drink a lot of Diet Coke were diagnosed with colon cancer. I usually drank one or two a day but I immediately stopped. That coincidence(probably) was too much for me.

Not gonna lie. Half of me is like – whoa that’s way more water than I drink! That’s a ton of water! But then I also was like – I sometimes drink a diet Dr Pepper and I count that as taking away water ….

Overall this is incredibly confusing and isn’t carbonation bad for you? Was that real science or social media science?

Fat Joe has also had diabetes since he was a kid. He has to have a strict diet. Just the sheet volume of soda he’s taking in us keeping his stomach (the actual organ) expanded which means he’s eating more before he feels full. I think the ozempic probably helps with appetite control but the Pepsi is just a bad look all around.

  4. Yup, Me says:

If I was Jadakiss, hearing that my business partner was doing all of that, I’d be making sure I had some “post Joe” plans in place because Joe sounds like he’s happily living life on a cliff’s edge, shaking one foot at the void.

Someone get him an adhd diagnosis and some stimulant medication.

  6. Cj says:

Isn’t there known correlation between aspartame and colon/stomach/intestinal cancers? Like it was big news the first time someone drinking 2L a day got cancer but now it’s just… generally known that mass quantities is terrible for your health?

  7. maisie says:

his teeth will not survive for long, nor his gut microbiome. artificial sweeteners are pretty much as bad for you as sugar.

    • BeanieBean says:

Yeah, it’s not good for the teeth. I drink the stuff, but not in those king of amounts! I always use a straw & always rinse or brush my teeth afterward. My doc told me a serving size was half a can, so me drinking four a day was not good. I cannot imagine drinking 40! Common sense has to tell you that’s too much!! Even too much water isn’t good for you!

And the caffeine intake! Yikes! My heart would explode on 40 a day!

And I co-sign on the herbal teas for ice teas. Great way to get your water without the carbonation. Tastes good, too!

Among other things, this is Osteoporosis waiting to happen. I know two different people, one being my grandmother, that drank Coke and Pepsi all day and their bones became super frail from the phosphoric acid in those drinks preventing calcium absorption. The man I know who did this, he went in for a minor disc surgery on his back and died on the table because his spine basically just crumbled from being so compromised from soda drinking. Definitely something to think on when consuming these drinks!

You don’t need to be a doctor to realize that shyte is toxic, and nothing but toxic.

  10. Jackie says:

Did he used to smoke or something? We call Diet Cokes our “fridge ciggies”, it’s my one vice and not even a daily one!

  11. Jaded says:

He must be completely jazzed on caffeine. Although pepsi and coke only have about a quarter the caffeine that coffee has, it’s still going to have an impact.

  12. butterflystella says:

Ok, so assuming he sleeps 6 hours that would mean he drinks 2 cans each waking hour which totals 36 cans!! I can’t fathom that quantity of liquid, especially SWEET liquid, EVERY DAY!! Unreal…

I got lost in the Bronx once and saw a really great graffiti painting on a building honoring Fat Joe. He grew up in really mean streets.
