GloRilla’s Georgia home was burgled, and somehow Glo was the only one arrested

I’m a big fan of GloRilla. Her song “TGIF” was a huge moment, and she’s one of the up-and-coming rappers I’m really looking forward to seeing more of. While GloRilla – real name: Gloria Hallelujah Woods – was born and raised in Memphis, she currently lives in Georgia. Glo was out of town this week when her place got robbed. Someone (??) alerted the authorities that Glo’s home was being burgled. So the cops arrived, searched for the burglars, and then…the cops got a search warrant for Glo’s home. Long story short, the cops found marijuana in a closet, so Glo was the one who got arrested. This case will not stand up in court, by the way.

GloRilla is speaking out after being arrested on felony drug charges following a burglary attempt in her Georgia home. The 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, voluntarily turned herself in to the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday, July 22, after police allegedly discovered marijuana and a controlled substance while responding to a July 20 burglary attempt that she was not present for, according to a statement provided to PEOPLE by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

“CRAZY [!!] My House got Home Invaded Saturday While I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA all star game & instead of Focusing on finding the Suspects , they focus on some cannabis,” the “Wanna Be” artist tweeted on Thursday, July 24. Next, she listed a three-point breakdown of the events from her perspective.

“1. So no I wasn’t busted 2. My house got robbed 3. I wasn’t home,” GloRilla wrote. She continued, “Long story short my house gets home invaded and Im the only one that gets arrested. So that’s tea,” adding a shrugging emoji.

A call for “a burglary in progress” came in at 1:30 a.m. local time, per the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office statement.

“It was reported that three suspects had entered the home and were in the process of stealing items when an armed occupant fired at the intruders,” the police statement read. “The suspects fled the scene, and it does not appear that any of them were struck. No injuries were reported among the home’s occupants.”

No suspects were found following “a thorough investigation,” however, police said, “While on scene, deputies detected a strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics. As a result, the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force was contacted and responded to the residence.”

Police obtained a search warrant and reported finding “a significant amount of marijuana” in GloRilla’s master bedroom closet. As a result, the Memphis native was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana and Possession of schedule one controlled substance. After voluntarily turning herself into custody, GloRilla was released on a $22,260 bond.

Note to Glo: your defense should be “I don’t know how any of that got there, the people who broke into my home probably left it there.” Stick with that story forever. “I don’t know how that got there, I wasn’t even home.” And to the cops… do you know that it looks asinine to arrest people whose homes were broken into?

Is this even legal? It wasn’t even out in the open, just “a strong odor”.

Police are really bad at solving crimes. Property crimes are rarely solve. Murders are solved less than 50%. Not sure how many they prevent but who knows how many they commit.

WILD. I saw the news about her getting arrested, but not about why. This is bullshit.

  6. BeanieBean says:

A gun was fired in the house & Georgia cops are cool with that, but they smelled something funny & looked in a closet, and then busted the homeowner once she got home?? That’s some major BS right there.

I’m glad she made a T-shirt with her arrest picture on it. I think she’s taking it in stride, so that’s good. That is really some bullshit though.

I like GloRilla a lot and love her first breakout song, F.N.F, Let’s Go.
She has a lot of energy and humor. Crazy-ass cops.
