Mel B didn’t expect the other Spice Girls to come to her wedding

Melanie Brown aka “Mel B” got married to Rory McPhee on July 5. That was their first wedding ceremony. Their second ceremony was in Morocco on August 3. Both times, Mel and Rory exchanged vows in front of their family and famous friends. Notably missing from both ceremonies was a full reunion of Mel’s fellow Spice Girls. Emma Bunton was at her London wedding and Mel C was there to celebrate in Morocco, but sadly, we never got a full Spice Girls reunion.

Mel and Emma just reunited as mentors on Amazon Prime’s new series, KPopped. During an interview with Page Six, Mel shared some more information about her wedding and its attendees. According to Mel, she handed all guest list duties over to Rory, which meant that as a result, she actually had no idea that Emma and Mel were going to be at either wedding. In fact, Mel says she had no expectations about who was coming to her weddings in general.

Mel B “didn’t expect” two of her fellow Spice Girls to say they’ll be there at her recent weddings. The singer, 50, aka “Scary Spice,” told The Post that her husband was in charge of the attendee list, and while all members of the iconic girl group were invited, she was unaware that “Baby Spice” Emma Bunton and “Sporty Spice” Mel C were attending the ceremonies until she saw them on her special day.

Mel B married hairdresser Rory McPhee, 37, in a private ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on July 5. The newlyweds then tied the knot a second time in Morocco at Selman Marrakech on August 3.

Bunton, 49, attended the star-studded London nuptials, which were followed by an elegant bash at The Shard’s Shangri-La Hotel, while Mel C, 51, was there to witness their second wedding in Morocco.

“I didn’t expect any of them to come, to be honest, because it was a very intimate, private thing, and I know everybody’s busy,” Mel B exclusively told The Post about her Spice Girls bandmates.

The “Wannabe” singer shared that “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham, 51, “was busy and she sent me lots of gifts,” and “Ginger Spice” Geri Halliwell-Horner, 53, was “off with Formula 1.”

Halliwell-Horner was seen at the F1 British Grand Prix on July 6. Her husband, Christian Horner, was the longest-running Red Bull team principal until he was fired from his position on July 9, over a year after being cleared of inappropriate behavior accusations.

“Everyone’s doing their own thing,” Mel B said about the members of the ’90s pop group.

“They all sent me well-wishes and we had lovely FaceTimes, but I didn’t expect any of them to turn up. So when they [Emma and Mel C] were there, I was like, ‘Oh, wow!’” she shared.

When asked to clarify that she didn’t know her longtime bandmates were coming until she saw them at her weddings, Mel B explained, “I didn’t want to get bombarded with the wedding guest list,” so she put her husband-to-be in charge.

“I was like, ‘Rory, my ADHD is on fire. I’m still sorting out my dress. You deal with that [guest list]. Here’s my list of who I want to come. Figure it out,” she added.

First of all, I love that Mel knew her limits and was able to delegate the RSVPs to Rory. I also love that he picked it right up and took charge without hesitation. That said, I kind of call BS on Mel’s story because there’s no way that she wasn’t curious about who was coming to the wedding(s)! I would have asked for attendee updates at least once a day, but that’s just me. Okay, fine…at the very least, I’d want weekly updates! I need to learn how to harness Mel’s delegation skills. And while I’m disappointed that we didn’t get a new Spice Girls reunion picture and/or video, I can buy that Victoria and Geri were busy for both weddings, and that no one’s schedules aligned to attend at least one of them as a group. It’s nice that everyone FaceTimed their congrats to Mel and Rory, though. This could just be me desperately trying to hang onto the good old days, but whenever I see a Spice Girls reunion, it makes me so happy.

I can believe she didn’t know, for the reasons that she gave, but also because it protects you from being upset if people that you expect it to come didn’t show up. You may still be a little sad that day but you’re not going into your wedding upset that certain people aren’t there.

Also, I guess I just don’t really understand why people expect for people that worked together decades ago, to still come to every event and do everything together. It doesn’t even have to be about bad blood, just that once you aren’t constantly emeshed in someone’s life they move down the priority list.

Thanks for posting the ITZY link.

ITZY, Twice and BTS are my favorite Kpop groups.

Not watching the series though, because no Amazon for me, and there is enough Kpop content elsewhere.

Geri’s husband got canned from his F1 job in July, so no shock that she didn’t go (he also has a pending sexual harassment case, fyi). I always got the feeling Victoria wasn’t close to the rest of them.

The only one I buy who was ‘too busy’ to attend is Victoria. She may not have even been in the country. I have no idea what Geri is doing these days. If she wanted to/was free to go, she could have, as long as her husband wasn’t her +1. It’s far enough away from all F1-related things to be unconnected. I just don’t think that they are all that close, it’s a fan thing to want members of groups to forever be great friends but life doesn’t work that way.
