2026 Actor Awards (formerly SAG) for television: few snubs or surprises

This year’s awards season for film is very “chaos is a ladder.” Meanwhile, the awards season for television seems so stable. There are front-runners and favorites in nearly every category, and I can pretty much guess who will win across the board. The Critics Choice Awards set the tone for how the Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards) will hand out awards as well. Adolescence is unstoppable ever since it swept the Emmys in the limited series categories. The White Lotus is a fan-favorite picking up nominations across the board, but no one expects it to win. The Pitt, The Studio and Pluribus are this year’s first-season darlings. Severance might be too EXTRA to win much, besides which, they didn’t even bother to nominate Adam Scott! Behold, this year’s Actor Award nominations for television:

[From The NY Times]

My projected winners: The Pitt, Noah Wyle, Sarah Snook (maybe Claire Danes will pull off an upset, this crowd loves her), big wins for Adolescence, Jean Smart wins everything and The Studio picks up at least one award. The most interesting race is for Lead Actress in a Drama – how do you choose between Rhea Seehorn, Parker Posey and Britt Lower, honestly? A bit surprised not to see nominations for Carrie Coon or Sam Rockwell for this past season of The White Lotus, but then again, the supporting categories seem to have been removed?

Parker Posey. Period. Her performance was a delight and a shining standout.
Britt Lower did what she could with what she was given, but that second season was SUCH a mess.
I don’t know if it was the writing, or how she portrayed the character – but Rhea Seehorn was a huge obstacle for me to overcome, in order for me to even get INTO Pluribus. Carol was a Karen that was hung up on other people not seeing things exactly as she did and it irked.

Rhea is amazing and perfect in Pluribus. A line they used for promo is, “ The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.”

She’s not supposed to be a lovable character. Rhea is an incredible actor. She hit all the notes perfectly, so we still have moments of empathy for this flawed person that has been through so much. She’s changing as she has these experiences.

The Pitt all day, every day. Love that show.

The White Lotus season 3 wasn’t as good as the first two, but I do think Parker Posey stole every scene and deserves all the awards.

Kerri Russell in The Diplomat. It is such a shame that she has not won yet. She gives she a nuanced performance in the high stakes world of diplomacy and comedy. She is glorious! I highly recommend if you have not seen it yet.

Adam Scott being snubbed was horrible, it’s sad when people who deserve to be nominated aren’t. It’s hard to know if the winners would have really won if more deserving actors were actually put in the proper category.
