Alan Ritchson is known for starring in the Reacher series on Prime, and for his other roles where he plays a supernaturally giant hulk of a man. We’ve covered interviews with him and he’s come across as self aware and not the violent type. I guess I had the wrong impression of him because TMZ has a video of Alan absolutely pummeling his neighbor in Tennessee on Sunday allegedly over a noise complaint over dirt bikes. In the video, which is below, Alan’s bike is on its side in the road while his two children, reportedly his kids, are sitting on their dirt bikes nearby. Alan repeatedly punches the man in the head, side and back while the children watch. He then gets back on his bike, tips it over and then tries to right it. The neighbor seems to pick up something near the bike, I’m guessing his glasses, and continues arguing and pointing.
TMZ has a photo of the neighbor Ronnie Taylor’s injuries along with his side of the story. I’m guessing he sold it to them. Here’s their initial report:
Watch the clip … you can see what appears to be Alan going toe-to-toe with a man while two kids, who are allegedly the actor’s children, appear to be nearby on motorbikes.
The alleged victim, Ronnie Taylor, tells TMZ … this all started Saturday when Alan was riding his green Kawasaki bike through the quiet, well-to-do Nashville suburb. Ronnie claims Alan was flying at excessive speed, revving his engine and disturbing the peace.
He admits flipping the bird at Alan, and he claims the actor returned the gesture.
Fast forward to today at around noon … Taylor says Alan came through the neighborhood again, allegedly speeding, and this time with 2 youngsters on their own motor bikes.
Taylor says he asked Alan, “Can you f**king stop this please,” which is when things allegedly turned physical. Taylor says he went to the cops and reported that Alan punched him in the face and kicked him. Taylor claims Alan then fell off his bike, got back up and tried to run him off…
Taylor told cops that Alan rode off, but he claims neighbors saw the whole thing. Taylor tells TMZ that he did not go to the hospital.
Law enforcement sources confirm to TMZ that there is an investigation stemming from an incident between both these parties, but no arrests have been made.
TMZ has a follow up report claiming that the neighbor Ronnie Taylor pushed Alan off his bike twice before the video was taken. A source claims that Alan tried to get away after he first got pushed off his bike, but was pushed off a second time, which is when he blew up.
Our sources tell us … witnesses saw Alan riding his motorcycle down the street in Brentwood, TN, ahead of his two kids on their mini bikes Sunday afternoon. We’re told their neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, bolted into the street to try to stop Alan’s bike in a “really aggressive” manner.
As a result, Alan crashed, falling off his motorcycle and suffering cuts and bruises, as well as a minor injury to his finger, our sources say.
We’re told Ronnie dared Alan to hit him while yelling at the actor, who was still on the ground. But our sources say Alan did not take the bait and tried to defuse the situation by jumping on his bike to leave.
However, Ronnie shoved Alan to the ground, prompting Alan to beat the crap out of his neighbor, which was caught on camera. TMZ published the dramatic video showing Alan pulverizing Ronnie on the street before Alan got back on his bike and took off with his two kids.
Ronnie told us Alan was riding his motorcycle through the neighborhood at excessive speeds for two days straight. He said he finally confronted Alan about his dangerous motorcycle habits Sunday, sparking their violent altercation.
This puts it in a different light, if true, but it still looks very bad for Alan. Alan has been married to his high school sweetheart, Catherine Ritchson, for 20 years. They have sons Calem, 13, Edan, 12 and Amory, 10. (Those ages are estimates as I only have the birth years.) Other than this sourced quote to TMZ we have not heard from Alan’s reps. I wonder how his side is going to respond, officially. Reacher season 4 is coming out sometime this year on Prime, there’s currently no scheduled release date.

I expected something way more dramatic and Reacher-like after reading the article. The video was nbd. It looks bad because he’s (of course) so much bigger than the neighbor, but the guy got up and walked away immediately.
💯 Agreed. Nbd.
Hahaha – I read the article and then watched the video. I was not expecting that video. It’s giving big brother home from basic training and little bro being a little shit and wanting to prove himself energy. Alan seems to over it hahahaahhaa omg.
Also. I’m really not trying to be callous or to condone violence. I studied martial arts for years.
In my opinion- the video shows a guy who does not want to be in an altercation and truly doesn’t want to actually hurt anyone. Just to get away from the situation.
It’s like a lion cub biting and biting his dad and the dad is finally like – buddy stop. Stop. I’m done. *weight of massive paw but no energy transfer or damage done*
Pretty BIG deal in front of your sons…and his PR of being a “good” guy.
Really interesting that it doesn’t show what started this, considering how aggressive the neighbor acted AFTER this guy punched and kicked him. I wonder how many people this neighbor is suing.
Longtime reader (I used to comment, but pretty much got rid of socials and stopped engaging on the Internet or commenting on anything many years ago now). Am coming out of lurkdom specifically to comment on this story because I know Alan personally and have for several years.
I would not be at all surprised if this were some kind of set-up by the neighbor. Alan has been one of the kindest, most genuinely thoughtful people I’ve known. He is a progressive who puts his money where his mouth is, he doesn’t expect or look for head pats for doing the bare minimum when it comes to being an ally, and is the kind of person who will take time out of his schedule to talk to a nerdy kid struggling with being bullied to play D&D with him.
Obviously my own experience with him doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being a bad person in other circumstances, but I’ve had years of nothing but genuine kindness and self-awareness about his own shortcomings from the guy. He’s the kind of person who, when he has clout with producers, makes absolutely sure that the crew is getting fair pay and fair working conditions. (I know this from direct experience on multiple projects).
He has his own body camera footage of this situation, and I’m fairly sure we’ll see that this neighbor is largely in the wrong.
Appreciate your commenting today, I remember your moniker.
It looked bad & good to have a character witness.
Thanks for popping up to comment.
Alan seems to be an outstanding guy and both really well liked and respected by his community. I personally have a lot of respect for him due the values he holds.
Having his character further confirmed is really great to hear. It’s nice to not be disappointed by someone you have believed to be a solidly good human.
This neighbor seems to know that Alan is a deeply non violent person to have been so aggressive with him. And if the neighbor attacked Alan – twice- in front of his kids? That’s absolutely unhinged. Those kids must have been so so freaked out.
And as someone who spent 15 years studying martial arts and is a second degree black belt – Alan’s hit wasn’t meant to damage. It was meant as a way to get distance immediately and not as a way to end a problem.
There is a distinct difference.
Honestly, this does feel like a setup. I feel so cynical in these times of extreme, real-time media manipulation, but I absolutely buy that Ritchson and the guy exchanged middle fingers, and it would have stopped there had the neighbor not jumped out at him (dangerous) and pushed him (dumb). FWIW, I first saw this story on Reddit, and it seems like most of the public feels the same way.
I appreciate Ritchson’s public persona, and it’s great to hear that people who know him in real life think highly of him. It’s a funny thing to say on a celebrity site, but I don’t believe in making heroes out of them. We’re all struggling humans, at the end of the day. So many of them just struggle in much harder and much more public ways than the lot of us. Glad to hear that Ritchson seems like a normal person despite how this story was initially sold/framed.
This is Tennessee. Thank god it wasn’t guns. I consider this a win.
Sorry, it’s not Alan’s fault. The guy assaulted him and could have seriously injured him by shoving him off the bike. Don’t start nothing and then get mad you get beaten up. I am glad other neighbors witnessed this too.
Well call me crazy, but it sounds like the neighbor needed an solid ass-kicking. You shove someone off their bike, TWICE, in front of their kids, scream at them and then expect nothing to happen to you? This story makes the neighbor sound like an asshole, not Alan.
What kind of motorbikes were driven? In many states, dirt bikes are illegal to drive on class 5 roads.
There’s more questions than answers in this whole story
Wondering about that myself. They are annoying vehicles. Doesn’t mean you get to push a neighbor off his, though. Call the cops & have them issue tickets. There’s one more bike there, though. Who does that belong to? The neighbor? If so, what’s his issue???
Ripping through a neighborhood on dirt bikes could be really annoying for the other neighbors to listen to so I get that. But in addition to dirt bikes on the road maybe being illegal, I think 12 and 13 year olds driving those dirt bikes on the road is illegal too. If a person is mad or concerned don’t try to be the police, just call the police. These altercations never end well.
I could be found out later on this one but I’m on Alan’s side here. I’m not a fan per se but I respect his stance on social issues. That guy looked like he was being aggressive with Alan. I hope he and his family stay safe. I don’t trust any of this or the guy he was dealing with.
Hmmmmm.
There are a lot of things in this neighbors story that don’t make sense.
If someone is driving dangerously in the neighborhood- especially for an extended period of time – you either speak to them or you call the police.
The only way someone is going to aggressively confront someone Alan’s size is if they know he’s deeply not a violent person. Or if they think the pay day is worth it.
And considering how aggressive the man continued to be after being struck and how quickly he got back up – he doesn’t at all appear to be a man looking to deescalate any situation.
TMZ getting a video of this interaction and the neighbors side of the story immediately seems like a massive set up.
Alan’s side of the story explains a lot. And the level of detail with the series of events implies that they can prove his side of the story.
I hope this story keeps getting covered
Glad to hear there’s more to the story than the headline. He seems to be a nice person, and as soon as he had a platform he called out Matt Gaetz (who he knew in high school) and MAGA, which took guts especially with who some of the biggest Reacher fans are. He’s also called out, by name, fashion industry folks who preyed on male models from his modeling days. That doesn’t mean he can’t suck, but I’ve really enjoyed his work and that he seems to be kind.
Dirts bikes – the scourge of rural life!
Fortunately – the kids in my area were pretty cool when you ask ’em to stop or make a wider circuit. – Crying helps! They’ve since grown out of it. whew …
Been there, suffered that!
This the same guy who clutched his pearls and made a statement when Will slapped that comedian. Is he behaving like us peasants now?
The police have stated that it was self defense.
There’s no charges happening.
