Joshua Jackson & Katie Holmes looked lovely together at a NYC gala screening

Last night was the gala screening for Brunello: The Gracious Visionary, a documentary about fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli. Given his participation and close association with the documentary, it’s sort of funny that they landed on that specific title. Kaiser: The Gracious Visionary, executive produced by Kaiser. Alas, I am not Italian, so I could not pull that off. Anyway, I was going to turn this into a fashion post but then I got a better look at the fashion on display and I’m mostly giving it a pass. It’s not that anyone looked like bedraggled hell, it’s just that the fashion was sort of boring – check out what Allison Williams wore and picture variations of her dress on twenty white socialites and you get the gist of this red carpet.

Still, there was something notable about this gala screening. Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes both attended, and when they saw each other on the carpet, Joshua came over and posed with her like a gentleman. Pacey & Joey, together again. OG Dawson’s Creek. I always find it so lovely and refreshing that Holmes and Jackson never had a bad word to say about each other. I’ve always gotten the impression that they still care about each other in a real way, despite not being best-friends or in each other’s lives consistently. Last year, Katie directed Joshua in a film-trilogy project called Happy Hours, which she also wrote. It works because… they still have chemistry together in a nice way, right?

PS… Bonus Oscar Isaac!!

So, Katie Holmes is making “my shirt is falling off and I can’t stop it” her fashion brand?

  2. Carly says:

When was the last time Katie starred in a good, hit movie? It’s been like 20 years, and yet she’s still on every red carpet…

    • Sue says:

I’d say she’s more of a socialite than an actress at this point. Socialites show up at events like these without being in anything.

  3. Irving says:

This is the best Katie Holmes has looked in a long time. She leans toward Offbeat Rich Lady clothes but usually piles them on to the point that she looks bundled up for winter. Here she looks like she edited her outfit well and has a sophisticated air that she usually doesn’t land on. But the best thing is that ear-to-ear Joey Potter grin—it’s been absent for decades, and it’s delightful to see.

    • Josephine says:

I love the length of her hair. The color does not quite suit her but I think the shorter length is flattering and her hair looks so healthy. I do not dislike the outfit but it feels too close to Sharon Stone’s iconic take on the white dress shirt to feel original and fresh.

Wow Oscar Isaac! He never really was my type but dang he looks hot in that tux!

  5. Eurydice says:

Joshua and Katie look relaxed and happy.

I love Cucinelli’s clothing, but his brand is understated elegance and could look boring on a red carpet.

  6. Ameerah M says:

Joshua still looking fine as hell I see…

  7. Diane L says:

Joshua should still be filming Doctor Odyssey. i will never forgive ABC and Ryan Murphy for pulling the plug on that fun show.

  8. Emmy Rae says:

The backdrop is very “trying on prom dresses at the mall”. Sad beige.

I’m also entertained that the hairstyle they came up with for Katie is “I just took my ponytail out”
