Prince Andrew was ‘banned’ from Garter Day after he was stripped of his titles

Monday was Garter Day in the UK, meaning the Windsors dressed up in velvet robes and feathered hats and went on parade outside Windsor Castle. There was some kind of Order of the Garter service, then a Garter reception at the castle. Since 2022, Prince Andrew has been blocked from attending the Garter parade, but he’s made a point of attending the castle reception. I thought that Andrew was still technically a Knight of the Garter, but I just learned today that Andrew’s Garter knighthood was stripped from him last year, along with his royal titles. Well, that solves a years-long problem – since 2022, the royals were wringing their hands about whether Andrew should be allowed to come, and he always managed to insert himself. Not this year though – apparently, King Charles banned him outright.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is experiencing his first total exclusion from Garter Day festivities in 20 years, six months after he officially lost his Knight of the Garter title. This past weekend, which included Trooping the Colour, has proven “really hard” for the King’s younger brother, a source has claimed.

“He’s become used to watching his family celebrate Trooping without him, but Garter Day will be a really tough day for him,” the source told the Express. “It’s one of those days that reminds him of all that he’s lost. He’s feeling more isolated than ever; he’s completely alone.”

While Mr Mountbatten-Windsor had been barred from the public procession at Windsor Castle since 2022, he had continued to participate in elements behind the scenes. Until recently, his membership in the Order of the Garter, which he had held since 2006, permitted him to attend the private investiture ceremony and traditional luncheon alongside other knights and ladies of the order.

That arrangement came to an abrupt end last October when he was stripped of all remaining royal titles amid renewed scrutiny of his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The decision removed his status as a knight companion of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry, blocking him from every aspect of the annual celebration.

King Charles officially stripped Mr Mountbatten-Windsor of his Knight of the Garter title on December 1, 2025. The cancellation was formally published in The Gazette, the official public record of the UK, with the annulment backdated to October 30, 2025.

Interestingly enough, Buckingham Palace made a point of briefing about Andrew to royal reporters covering Garter Day. That’s why we’re getting quotes like “He’s feeling more isolated than ever; he’s completely alone.” Becky English at the Daily Mail also put Andrew’s non-attendance front-and-center. The Windsors can’t simply show up to an event – they always have to be snubbing someone or isolating someone. For the left-behinds, Trooping the Colour was all about “Harry and Meghan should regret not being on this sparse balcony.” Now Garter Day is all about “we hate Andrew, he’s not welcome here!” It’s such an interesting psychological phenomenon, honestly. It’s like they can’t enjoy their privileges if they’re not lording it over certain family members.

And they somehow think this is a harsh punishment for his crimes and behavior? Bet he still has RPO’s protecting this man who belongs in prison.. VRG has been dead a year and it is because of what this man and the others who raped trafficked children and women.. i dont care that his velvet robe was taken away and acting loke that is punishment is enough to make me vomit.

BRF are tied to that albatross.
    CIII is.
    WanK is.

They’re just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, hoping people get distracted and forget, but, if Andrew does not face proper consequences for his actions this will never end and if he does he will end them all; he will sing like a canary about multiple decades worth of everyone else’s skeleton filled cupboards.

    No winning any which way.

  3. Jais says:

Well, Andrew deserves the snubbing. But yeah the whole snubbing thing is about them trying to show how special they are. They can only be at the top if they are constantly and actively showing themselves excluding people. Bc why else would anyone think they are special unless they are actively pushing people out of their super special balconies or whatever.

Oh no, not the traditional luncheon!

  5. KellySays says:

And there was recently a story about – which one, I can’t remember – being the new great peacemaker. But there’s Kate the peacemaker, and Sophie the peacemaker … what kind of family needs so many peacemakers? Do they not realize what that means for the rest of them??

  6. Gabby says:

And yet Mr. Earthshot, who accepted funds from one of Epstein’s more notorious associates, keeps his status and participation in this laughable shindig.

  7. Tessa says:

Andrew complains about garter robes yet so far has been supported by his brother lives on royal property and is not in prison. No pity for Andrew
