David Schwimmer, 43, & Zoe Buckman, 24, are engaged

Opening night party of 'A Steady Rain' New York

This is a totally boring engagement announcement between one person you’ve never heard of and one person you had forgotten. I just wanted to write about it because of the age difference and a little thing I like to think of as “the douche quotient”. So, David Schwimmer has announced his engagement to Zoe Buckman, a 24-year-old British photographer and maybe actress too. She’s very pretty. And very young. Too young for David, who is 43. Ugh.

David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman are more than just Friends: The couple have announced they’ll soon be husband and wife.

Schwimmer, 43, and Buckman, 24, are engaged, his rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly Sunday.

The actor, who shot to fame playing Dr. Ross Gellar on Friends, reportedly met Buckman, a photographer, while he was in London directing the 2007 flick Run Fatboy Run.

This will be the first marriage for both Schwimmer and Buckman.

[From People]

So if they met three years ago, she was 21 years old and he was 40? That still sounds pretty bad to me. I guess I had forgotten that Schwimmer liked them young. He’s a Piven! Ew. Well, he’s probably got a lot of money piled up from Friends, but I’m sure that has nothing to do with this girl marrying him, right? I mean, if a guy had $100 million in the bank and the douche quotient was strong, would you still hit it? I probably would, just because I’m curious. But would you marry it? Eh. Probably not. So in that way, Zoe is taking one for the team, right?

Congratulations, David and Zoe! Mazel tov.

Agreed! She is way to young.

  2. canadianchick says:

Yeaaah, look at her poseur body language while he’s looking happy to have scored a hot piece. I think the media just introduced us Schwimmer’s ex-wife #1.

  3. meme says:

@canadianchic LMAO but i doubt they’ll be any others. schwimmer is not successful with the ladies it seems.

  4. Tia C says:

I really don’t get why people make such a big deal out of age differences in adult relationships. If everyone concerned is over 21, what is the big deal?

Having said that, I also don’t get why a hot young thing like that would have any interest in David Schwimmer. I loved him on “Friends,” but he is not the most attractive guy. If a guy is funny like him, though, some women can look past the fug I guess.

  5. N.D. says:

agree Tia C. She doesn’t look childish or too young, so there’s nothing pervert in his attraction to her.

Actually Plato thought that the best age combination for marriage was 37 y.o. for man and 18 y.o. for woman. May be David is a follower of the same school of thought 🙂

  6. Ally says:

    It’s the douche factor.

As to age difference, when the 30something fellas act like horny, jerky 15-year olds, a 40-year old dude may be the youngest you should marry.

  7. happy says:

There is a 16 year age dif between my husband and I. We have been married very happily for 20 years. Its really scraping the barrel to write a story purely for the age difference shock factor. Can’t you do a bit better?

  8. dude says:

Love is love, what can you do? Should you not get involved b/c someone is younger than you. Your only on this planet for a brief time, you deserve to be happy!

  9. LOVE ANGELINA says:

I love David Schwimmer. (CHICAGOAN here!!!) Yea I guess their age difference is pretty big but if I ever bumped into him on the city streets…which get real hardly no stars walking around in Chicago…I would bounce up on it. He is tall, he is funny, he is handsome, and he has all that Friends money. LOL I say Congratulations Zoe!!!! I like older men to and she is just a 2 years older than me, so I don’t think its that bad

  10. pebbles says:

folks would be up in arms if a 43 year old woman was engaged to a 24 year old man…..hate the double standard…..

  11. bellaluna says:

    @ pebbles – Ditto!

  12. california angel says:

Random aside, but they both look like they took the fattest bong rip just before all of those pics. lol

  13. Not too sure how I found this blog but glad I did find it. Think I was looking for something else on google. Not sure I agree 100% with what you say, but have bookmaked and will pop back to read to see if you add any more posts. Keep up the good work.

  14. Kim says:

EWWW couldnt he find someone his own age or is he that immature? So desperate when a guy marries a girl this much younger than him.

  15. Kim says:

And shes marrying him because she loves him-yeah riggghhhtttt! Would she marry a non famous, non weathly 43 yr old? never

  16. Kim says:

What do we call male Cougars? Losers.

  17. the other mel says:

I agree with those that are questioning why age even matters. It’s just a number and we all deserve to be happy, and if it’s with someone far older or younger, who’s business is it anyway? If a person can find some love and happiness on this planet, I don’t think it matters in what package it arrives. Exactly what is the age ‘cut-off’ anyway and why do those archaic standards continue to exist? It’s simply ridiculous.

  18. TrixC says:

Wow I can’t believe how judgmental people are. I’m 29 and my partner is 45 – there’s nothing creepy or weird about it. As long at they’re both adults who cares?

  19. The Bobster says:

I guess he had to resort to the young and naive to put up with his whiney Hannukah Armadillo personality.

  20. Katie says:

It IS weird and creepy to date someone who is young enough to be your daughter – she DOES look young! And will have looked even younger when they met. My dad is now married to someone who would have been in the year above me at school and it is really disgusting. Old perverts and how can any girl with any self-respect let an old todger slime all over them.

  21. steve says:

    DA RAAA.

  22. GrrrrrlGrace says:

    Ewwww…..

  23. Camille says:

He is aging well, unlike some of the other cast members from Friends.

  24. Brooklyn says:

love her black dress you have in the posted pictures! but whatever makes ’em happy. i guess i am not weirded out by age differences.

  25. snapnhiss says:

I don’t understand the Schwimmer hate, he might not be classically handsome but he’s a nice looking man. And he seems intelligent and funny. They don’t look that mismatched in age, he’s retained his youthful looks. This is a non-issue.

  26. Emily says:

I don’t really get the big deal about age. My aunt and uncle have 14 years between them, and they’ve been married for nearly 25 years now.

  27. Kevin says:

    Good one Bobster!

  28. jsan says:

He looks great, they don’t look far apart in age at all. I do hate the double standard though, if it were a woman this would be big gossip news.

  29. Susan says:

Camille, I must LMFAO on your comment – that was a GREAT ONE! Thank you for the laughter and smiles. I think ole David was tired of the money/fame hungry bee-AHHtches of Hollyweird and found himself a nice young thing to play with. I agree with canadianchic, this will be his first ex-wife. I also think it’s a matter of hormones or genes. Younger women allegedly appear to be more fertile than women of the same age group. Why do you think Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt went with younger women? Perhaps, they wanted the sweet young things to squirt out a few puppies?
