This is a totally boring engagement announcement between one person you’ve never heard of and one person you had forgotten. I just wanted to write about it because of the age difference and a little thing I like to think of as “the douche quotient”. So, David Schwimmer has announced his engagement to Zoe Buckman, a 24-year-old British photographer and maybe actress too. She’s very pretty. And very young. Too young for David, who is 43. Ugh.
David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman are more than just Friends: The couple have announced they’ll soon be husband and wife.
Schwimmer, 43, and Buckman, 24, are engaged, his rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly Sunday.
The actor, who shot to fame playing Dr. Ross Gellar on Friends, reportedly met Buckman, a photographer, while he was in London directing the 2007 flick Run Fatboy Run.
This will be the first marriage for both Schwimmer and Buckman.

So if they met three years ago, she was 21 years old and he was 40? That still sounds pretty bad to me. I guess I had forgotten that Schwimmer liked them young. He’s a Piven! Ew. Well, he’s probably got a lot of money piled up from Friends, but I’m sure that has nothing to do with this girl marrying him, right? I mean, if a guy had $100 million in the bank and the douche quotient was strong, would you still hit it? I probably would, just because I’m curious. But would you marry it? Eh. Probably not. So in that way, Zoe is taking one for the team, right?

I really don’t get why people make such a big deal out of age differences in adult relationships. If everyone concerned is over 21, what is the big deal?
Having said that, I also don’t get why a hot young thing like that would have any interest in David Schwimmer. I loved him on “Friends,” but he is not the most attractive guy. If a guy is funny like him, though, some women can look past the fug I guess.

Actually Plato thought that the best age combination for marriage was 37 y.o. for man and 18 y.o. for woman. May be David is a follower of the same school of thought 🙂

As to age difference, when the 30something fellas act like horny, jerky 15-year olds, a 40-year old dude may be the youngest you should marry.
There is a 16 year age dif between my husband and I. We have been married very happily for 20 years. Its really scraping the barrel to write a story purely for the age difference shock factor. Can’t you do a bit better?
Love is love, what can you do? Should you not get involved b/c someone is younger than you. Your only on this planet for a brief time, you deserve to be happy!
I love David Schwimmer. (CHICAGOAN here!!!) Yea I guess their age difference is pretty big but if I ever bumped into him on the city streets…which get real hardly no stars walking around in Chicago…I would bounce up on it. He is tall, he is funny, he is handsome, and he has all that Friends money. LOL I say Congratulations Zoe!!!! I like older men to and she is just a 2 years older than me, so I don’t think its that bad

I agree with those that are questioning why age even matters. It’s just a number and we all deserve to be happy, and if it’s with someone far older or younger, who’s business is it anyway? If a person can find some love and happiness on this planet, I don’t think it matters in what package it arrives. Exactly what is the age ‘cut-off’ anyway and why do those archaic standards continue to exist? It’s simply ridiculous.

It IS weird and creepy to date someone who is young enough to be your daughter – she DOES look young! And will have looked even younger when they met. My dad is now married to someone who would have been in the year above me at school and it is really disgusting. I don’t understand the Schwimmer hate, he might not be classically handsome but he’s a nice looking man. And he seems intelligent and funny. They don’t look that mismatched in age, he’s retained his youthful looks. This is a non-issue.
I don’t really get the big deal about age. My aunt and uncle have 14 years between them, and they’ve been married for nearly 25 years now.

I think ole David was tired of the money/fame hungry bee-AHHtches of Hollyweird and found himself a nice young thing to play with. I agree with canadianchic, this will be his first ex-wife. I also think it’s a matter of hormones or genes. Younger women allegedly appear to be more fertile than women of the same age group. Why do you think Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt went with younger women? Perhaps, they wanted the sweet young things to squirt out a few puppies?
