You’re not alone. I was disappointed by the last book too. Even though she tried to wrap stuff up, there were a lot of unanswered questions, and a fair few cop-out moments (she seems to gloss over deaths of important characters a lot, but I wonder if that’s her being mindful of her child audience).

Enjoyed the books will enjoy the movies too I am sure. So will my daughters.

I hate that idea, of splitting it into two.

I’m a bit torn on the whole harry potter thing. I liked the earlier movies though I think the fourth one, if I am remembering right, sucked majorly. What I don’t like it that the movies have grown up faster than my kids have so while I have no problem letting them watch the earlier ones, I can’t let them see the later ones.

I’m not sure how I feel about splitting it up – I’d almost rather it be 3 hours long.

The worst book & movie so far have been the second ones…ick.

I wish the final book had been split into two. Actually, I kind of wish that about Order of the Phoenix, although it would have been simpler to just edit it a bit more carefully, to eliminate the bloat.

I think it’s a good idea… it’s a really involved last book, and even trying to keep continuity with the altered movies (a lot of stuff was cut out, as readers will know) they’ll have a lot to cram in that last movie. I thought the last movie was disappointing because they were doing just that, trying to shove all the Order of the Phoneix stuff into 2 hours, and it ended up feeling cut apart. I would have preferred a 3-hour of that and not lose certain storylines… but then the movies will never be as good as the books.

i don’t love the 7th book either. and the epilogue bothered me too. seemed very rinkey dink and there are other things i’d rather know about than who’s snogging on the train to hogwarts. But i love HP so much its okay. 🙂

the movies have always been brilliantly done….I will go to however many they do.

I’ve only ever seen the first movie. But I hated the first book, I read it for a book report ( i was in grade 8 when the book came out) and did not see the big deal about it at all. I kept reading them though (my brother took them from the libaries) and noticed that her books got better as the series went on.

I’ve never read the 6 or 7th book though. Even though I’ve had both sitting her for i don’t know how long. Too busy!

Whatever they do in the films, i hope they dont include that last chapter of deathly hallows. I mean, please, i was so excited about the last chapter of that last book since i heard she had written it long before the series was over, and i couldnt believe what i finally got to read. I was wanting to know how all my fav characters turned out in their lives, and what did i get? Some irritating episode at the train station that is supposed to tell me “See, our Harry got this loving family that he never had in his childhood, and see how happily he is playing his father role.” If i didnt read the later JK Rowling interviews, i would never have found out what the characters end up doing for livings, and etc, etc… still disappointed because those facts i should find out from the book, not from her interviews where she is actually telling them like they are facts or something.

I have enjoyed the books and the movies. I am so happy to see,all ages, reading the books. Opens the eyes & the imagination of and to all things. Again we are reminded that there is good & evil ,the difference is in the choice!
And that love is a great factor. I thank the author of Harry Potter for all that she brings to us.
