Glee’s Jane Lynch was married on Memorial Day to her longterm girlfriend, psychiatrist Dr. Lara Embry. Lynch, 49, and Embry, were married at a small private ceremony in Massachusetts, attended by 21 guests. The restaurant where they were wed and held their reception confirmed the news to US Weekly and provided a photo. Lynch is on the far right of the photo above and Embry is on the far left.

Glee’s Jane Lynch wed psychiatrist Dr. Lara Embry on Monday night in Massachusetts at the Blue Heron restaurant, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

“They were very happy. There was lots of smiling,” the restaurant’s manager, Scott Mercure, tells Us.

Twenty-one guests attended the 20-minute ceremony, which started at 5:30 p.m. and was held on the restaurant’s patio. Lynch donned a cream wrap blouse and black slacks, and Embry donned a cream and black cocktail-length frock.

After, they feasted on striped sea bass, duck and a three-tiered wedding cake filled with chocolate mousse and vanilla-cream frosting. “It was really good,” Mercure told Us of the dessert.

A band played jazz and “a variety” of tunes for “upbeat dancing,” Mercure adds. The party went until “about 10 p.m.”

The two also had dinner Friday night at the Sunderland, Mass. restaurant, the manager told Us.

Lynch, 49, got engaged to Embry in November.

“I’m thrilled! It’s an amazing thing. I wake up and pinch myself every morning!” she told Us in April.

[From US Weekly]

I heard a great interview with Lynch on NPR’s Fresh Air a few months ago. Lynch seems reticent and is of course nothing like the obnoxious Sue Sylvester character she plays on Glee. The interview was in November and she kind of had to be coaxed to talk about the fact that she was gay and had a same sex partner. It’s not like she was afraid to come out, but she didn’t see it as a big deal and was matter of fact about it. She said “As much as I… love being an actress, I don’t like calling attention to myself in that way. I don’t want to be different. I’m not a rebel. I just want to be like everybody else.”

She also explained that she’s always been out at work and it just hasn’t been an issue. “[I] don’t feel like the need to walk into a room and say, you know, as a gay person, I need to have this, this and this. So, it – and nobody really seemed to care. And if I lost work or if I lost opportunities because I was gay, it happened behind my back and I didn’t know about it. I’ve had it really… easy, you know. It’s been just very accepted and nobody seems to care.”

People do care that Lynch got married as we’re happy for her and want to know about her special day. Congratulations to Lynch and Embry!

    Lucky Lara!

God, I love Jane Lynch. Never mind your skinnny, vapid bints like Megan Fox, THIS is what little girls should be looking up to. A strong, intelligent, funny (and I think rather lovely looking) and talented woman.

Congrats to them! Jane is one of my favorite actresses, she has been awesome in everything she does, and she’s by far the best character on Glee. I’m very happy for them, and wish them a long, happy life together.

Congrats – how wonderful for both of them. And YEAH! for the Blue Heron Restaurant!! I used to live in Western Mass and worked for a baker who provided yummies for them.
(By the way – in the first picture it’s the owners of the Blue Heron (Barbara and Deborah) with the happy couple . 🙂 What great publicity for a wonderful establishment.)

She just cracks me up in all of her roles. Too funny. Spring breakdown (AWFUL movie! Amy Pohler and some other SNl chick in it..) was salvageable b/c she was in it.. hilarious in 40 yr old virgin and best of show too. COngrats! I am almost positive i read she was married and had a kid some time back? Or i might be mistaken. Anyway she’s a riot.

I’m so happy for her and her wife :). She is hilarious and I think that’s why it never mattered whether she was gay or not. She’s a comedian. No one really gives a hoot either way what you look like or what your sexuality is as long as you are funny. And this woman is pee-your-pants funny.

  25. Trillion says:

Love her attitude about everything. May they enjoy a long and happy marriage.

  26. original kate says:

  27. Mistral says:

    That menu has me drooling.

She is so damned funny on that show! It wouldn’t be what it is without her.

  28. dj says:

Congratulations! I love her on everything so much that when she comes on TV my husband says “…there is your girl…” How funny is she. She is fantastic playing schizophrenic mother (Criminal Minds) and hilarious and realistic as Charlie Sheen’s sometime therapist on Two and half men. The thing I really appreciate her is how much joy seems to emanate outwards from her. Much Happiness!
