Sheryl Crow adopts a second child, son Levi

Singer Sheryl Crow arrives at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Issue Event in Hollywood, California

Sheryl Crow is such a woman of mystery. She just announced on her website that she has adopted her second child, a little boy named Levi James. Levi is about five weeks old. He joins big brother Wyatt, who Sheryl adopted with little fanfare in 2007. She really keeps her stuff on the downlow, doesn’t she? No big People Magazine covers, no big interviews in Us Weekly, no big tell-all to Oprah, nothing built up about how she “wants” to this or that. She just goes and does it.

Sheryl Crowe is a mom again!

“I have some exciting news to share with you guys,” the musician announced on her official Web site Friday, “Wyatt has a new little brother!”

Crow, 48, adopted now 3-year-old Wyatt in 2007, and also tells fans, “Levi James was born April 30.”

Congratulations to Sheryl! I was going to talk more about how she seems to be doing everything low-key these days, but I see she’s gearing up for a tour and she’s just released a new single, “Summer Day”. She’s got a blues album coming out soon called 100 Miles From Memphis. You can hear the single here.

By the way… Levi? What’s with the sudden rise in the popularity of that name? Matthew McConaughey’s son, Levi Johnston, my cousin named his son Levi too.

Congrats to her! That’s great. Her son Wyatt is a cutie. I like Sheryl, I saw her in concert a few years ago and she was so good! I usually like her albums and all, but her concert was fantastic.

I was just thinking the same thing about the name Levi, I’d never really heard it much before but now it’s everywhere.

  2. RHONYC says:

congrats to sheryl for buying america again.

    AMER-I-CA!
    f$%k yeah!

    lol 🙂

  3. Carrie says:

Well that’s great- she must really enjoy being a mom, and I think having a sibling is important, especially with a single parent.

  4. Cam says:

    Congrats to her!

I don’t know about the name “Levi” being everywhere now, but it’s a very nice one 🙂

  5. Cam says:

U2’s The Edge has a son name Levi, born in ’99 i think, too. It was the first time I heard that name and i love it it’s really cute.

  6. Lem says:

…because it would be tacky to name your baby Lance! Levi (leipheier) is the next closest unitard. Lest they go for “Big George”

    it’s disturbing

  7. Victoria says:

Congratulations to her! She cracks me up with the names Levi and Wyatt, to me they are both coyboy names. Wyatt is SO cute!

  8. Tia C says:

Coolness! Wyatt has a great little smile. Looks like she has fun being a mom.

  9. Lilias says:

Cute baby. I’m happy for her and for her kid who now gets a brother to play with.

does anyone remember when sheryl was with douche armstrong? lordy, they were insufferable, constantly talking about their “love” and how awesome their relationship was, blah blah. i remember an interview with oprah that was nauseating, and i thought “what happened to sheryl crow? she used to be such a cool chickie.” now that she’s alone she’s gotten quiet again, which makes me think he was the one who wanted to be so high-profile. she seems much happier these days. congrats, sheryl!

  11. maritza says:

I’m sure Levi is as adorable as Wyatt, both have great American names. I wonder why Jennifer Aniston hasn’t done the same? Guess she really doesn’t want too as much as Sheryl. Congratulations to her!

  12. Jeri says:

Congratulations Sheryl, Wyatt & Levi. You are an excellent family. Like your style also, doing it without fanfare, permission or approval – cuz none is needed!

  13. jen says:

My son, Levi, turns 5 in a week. At the time everyone says “Why Levi? It’s so unique/old-fashioned.” Now to my dismay it’s EVERYWHERE. My first son, Joshua, has the most popular name of his generation, which I, being named Jennifer, didn’t want to do to my child. I carefully chose Levi to avoid that again and here we go! Ugh.

  14. bellaluna says:

Congratulations. Enjoy them while they’re little, because time flies by so fast when they’re young!

  15. mel says:

Sheryl does it right, keeping folks/media out of her business.

  16. Leek says:

    Good for her!

  17. Me says:

I saw her in concert once years ago and agree that it was awesome! Her son Wyatt is insanely cute – congrats to them all.

  18. mary jane says:

I NEVER would have predicted that “Levi” would become popular. But it IS a cool name…very “American”. Haven’t heard it at all in my neck of the woods yet.

Congratulations to Sheryl! Nice age difference between the boys too.

  19. GatsbyGal says:

Strange…Levi isn’t that new of a name but there are some people who have never heard of it. It’s biblical in origin: Levi was one of Jacob and Leah’s sons (they had 12 sons, and each son became a founder of one of the 12 tribes of Israel). His second youngest brother, Joseph, is the same Joseph of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” fame.

(Sorry…back when I was going to college, I minored in religious studies.)

  20. mary jane says:

Oh yes, original Kate I remember. They were very full of themselves.

They were a very cool couple but once he broke it off I truly feel she was beyond damaged and that it took her at least a year to figure out who she’d become while she was with him.

A definite change in her since.

  21. jc126 says:

    That’s wonderful for her!

  22. Ruffian9 says:

There’s something about her that I just like SO much….very happy for her

  23. canadianchick says:

Congrats to Sheryl and her boys!!!!!! Awwwwww *sniff*

  24. g says:

My God a celebrity with an adopted caucasian child- how utterly weird!!!

  25. g says:

Must be a record promotion tactic!

  26. g says:

    a celebrity adopting a white kid for a change-strange.

witwgd [wonder if that will get deleted] how utterly prudish if so. utterly.

  27. Ash says:

    1. How offensive that someone said she is “buying America[n]”. A child is not a car, washing machine or pair of shoes. Sure, you pay money when you adopt but to word it like that diminishes it to a simple, impersonal transaction. Shame.

    2. What the hell does Jennifer Aniston have to do with anything? Why does she come up every time there is a baby announcement? Maybe she doesn’t want to adopt. Maybe she wants biological children. Or maybe-gasp!- she doesn’t want any! Or maybe she wants to be married first. The list could go on and on and no one really knows the reason she does not have a child yet but her. I’m not some crazy “Team Aniston” person, I just find
it really weird that people find ways to bring her up in practically every post.

    3. I Iove the name Levi. It isn’t unusual to me because I had a cousin named Levi who passed away when he was 10 and I was 14. If I have a son I want to name him Levi.

    Anyway, congrats to Sheryl!

  28. ME says:

Congratulations. He is adorable… has that Matt Damon quality to him.

  29. Camille says:

    Kudos to her.
