Here are some new photos of the delicate flower known as Taylor Momsen, out and about in New York yesterday and today. Isn’t she just precious? Anyway, she and her band The Pretty Reckless are about to start their stint on this summer’s Warped Tour. So. Hardcore. Speaking of “her band” I found this short little interview with Taylor where she managed to snot out some bullsh-t about how she had been “been working on putting the right band together for years, and now it’s finally clicked.” The chick is 16 years old.
Taylor Momsen and her band, The Pretty Reckless, are releasing their new EP, today (June 22nd) in the USA, Canada and Australia. It features the song, Make Me Wanna Die. The group of four have a unique sound. I have to admit that Taylor’s voice is something you might not expect. Taylor who began humming melodies before she could talk and writing songs at the age of five after falling in love with The Beatles now has a way to express herself. I had a chance to interview Taylor about where she might go back in time, how she would describe her music and who she collaborates with.
On who she would chose dead or alive to have dinner with: John Lennon
On if she could go back in time where she would go: Roaring twenties.
On how the band got together: I’ve been working on putting the right band together for years, and now it’s finally clicked.
On her favorite song on the EP: They all have their own meaning to me, can’t really pick a favorite.
On her favorite part of the album making process: All of it really, the writing can be cathartic.
On if she wrote the songs herself on the EP or collaborated with anyone: I wrote it with my guitar player.
On how she would describe her music: Rock

Taylor wants to go back to the 1920s? Ladies knew how to wear a skirt back in those days, they didn’t just wander around pantless all the time. But other than that, whatever. It’s clear she’s finally doing what she really wants to do – sing, and be in a band. Not be an actress. And she’s probably going to be written off of Gossip Girl for good, as her “sabbatical” turns into an outright firing. So I hope The Pretty Reckless does well for her – their EP is getting solid reviews, and her voice isn’t even half as bad as I was expecting. Her voice is like a really budget version of Shirley Manson.

I’m so happy for her that her life’s work is finally coming to fruition. It must be frustrating to have to wait until you are 16 to finally see your dreams realized.
Generally I save the term ‘tool’ for men, but somehow it fits her. Tool.
Well, I’m sure it was tough. Any time she tried to have band auditions, the musicians had to go home for dinner, or the recess bell rang, or someone was grounded for a bad report card…
I am willing to bet “her” band was put together via trade ads by her label. They are all at least twice her age and look like studio musicians.I will further wager they’re paid a salary to show up. Corporate rock at it’s lowest.

I wouldn’t mind having her necklaces. Those are cute. She is a bit of a airhead but she is 16 and she has time to mature but she isn’t that bad. I like rock music so I can’t wait to her band.

Give her a break, I was a lot crazier at 16. It was the 80’s, my outfits make hers look tame by comparison. I was probably arrogant enough to think I could start a band back then.
From what I’m understanding I believe child porn laws go both ways. Young women are being prosecuted for sending and posting nude photos of themselves. Why is this 16 yr old allowed to walk around in public like this? Doesn’t she have parents and, if not, shouldn’t she be in foster care? She obviously needs supervision.
