People’s sympathetic Mel Gibson profile, TMZ admits false Oksana stories

People Magazine has an inset on their cover this week titled “What Happened to Mel? – The Inside Story.” Only the inside story, like much in People and just about everything on TMZ about this story, sounds straight from Mel’s camp and is all about how he’s doing. They focus less on trashing Oksana and more on painting Mel as this sympathetic character we should feel sorry for, eventually forgive, and welcome back with our wallets at the box office. In my case that’s never going to happen and I have no sympathy for a verbally and probably physically abusive man. I’ve never heard anyone use threats and taunts as awful and cruel as the things he said to Oksana. The People article includes a lot of pictures of “classic” Mel back when we were drooling over his ass in Lethal Weapon and People declared him the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1985. As cute and as normal as he looked back then, he’s no longer that guy and I can’t get “I hope you get raped by a pack of n*” out of my head when I look at him.

Here’s some of People’s article, in which they basically tell us that Mel is a good guy at heart but has a drinking problem. They mention the tapes and Oksana’s allegations that he hit her, but never mention the leaked photos of her (alleged) injuries or the baby’s (alleged) injuries. They also never quote any of the terrible things Mel said in the tapes! (Their only quote from his tapes is that he said “I don’t have any f’ing money,” which they refute.) It’s all “poor Mel, he’s having a hard time”:

melgibsonsexiestGibson spent July 17 and 18 with Lucia in which Malibu home. “They had a great weekend,” says someone close to him. “Mel is doing pretty well, considering. He feels the judicial system will do him right.”

Yet it’s clear something has gone very wrong in the life of Mel Gibson, a star who managed to stay on top for decades while struggling with issues including alcoholism and near-suicidal depression. At first the very traits that have now boiled over into rage – intensity, edginess, a blunt macho charm – were what made him a superstar. Gibson broke out as a violent loner in 1979s Mad Max and shot onto the A-list as a crazed cop in the Lethal Weapon movies. His image would remain roughly the same for the next two decades: a guy’s guy who was devoted to his wife, Robyn, and their seven children and loved by crew and castmates but who got a little while away from work. “Certainly he liked to drink,” says his friend and producer Thom Mount, who worked with Gibson on 1988’s Tequila Sunrise. “Drinking was part of his ethods, but it never impacted the picture negatively. He drank socially with the crew, and he was extremely popular with them…

“Mel became a superstar so quickly that whatever his issues were – religious, feminist – he never got to work them out,” says Mount. “Mel has a good heart. But he is frustrated by a lot of things right now.”

While few in Hollywood have publicly rallied to Gibson’s side, many are reluctant to condemn him. Several colleagues cite Gibson’s own loyalties to struggling stars. In 2003, he personally paid for the insurance bond that allowed Robert Downey Jr. to work on a movie and revive a career all but destroyed by his drug use. At a Hollywood party around that time, “Mel was there being very protective of Robert and making sure he wasn’t drinking,” says a longtime Gibson friend, acting coach Ivana Chubbuck. “Mel believed in him…”

Even so, many colleagues are shocked by the vitriol heard in Gibson’s conversations with Girgorieva. Says a female collaborator: “This is not the Mel I know. He could get angry. He could be mad. But screaming mad like on these tapes? Never.” Darlene Love, a costar in four Lethal Weapon movies who is African-American, says Gibson “has been a brother and friend to me. I love and support him 100 percent.”

Whatever caused Gibson’s controlled intensity to erupt into outright fury, he must now deal with the consequences and try and put his shattered life back together. “People can slam Mel all they want, and the guy has made some truly dreadful mistakes, but don’t count him out,” says Mount. “The talent that he has cannot be lost. His personal life is something he needs to get under control. And if he does that, then gradually he will come back from this.

[From People magazine, print edition, August 2, 2010]

It’s like they got every person who has ever known Mel in any capacity who was willing to go on the record with a positive quote, and it amounted to three people I’d never heard of. To People it’s all about us “slamming” Mel by actually repeating the threatening, abusive, and cruel things he said to the mother of his child. I’m surprised they didn’t use the terms “baiting,” “extortion,” or “pushing his buttons.” Mel is an abuser and he admitted it on tape. Spin and twist it and add Oksana’s potential motivations and it doesn’t change the evidence.

As for whether Gibson is going broke as he bitched about on tape, People reports that Mel’s “fortune is estimated at close to $1 billion,” but that he “could be on the hook for up to $500 million.” Mel is selling assets like art and his Malibu home, and People quotes a source who said “He provides for eight children and is going through a divorce. A lot of his money isn’t in liquid form.” Poor angry abusive billionaire Mel. All he wants is a beej and our sympathy.

Extortion claim was thrown out by Mel’s people to discredit Oksana
In additional never-ending Mel news, TMZ denies the report from Radar that Mel said he wanted “Jewish blood” on his hands. They report that Oksana claims Mel threatened TMZ head Harvey Levin with death after they published the news on his anti-Semitic rant. However, they think Oksana made that story up because the Sheriff’s department denies that they were given that information and some of the details didn’t check out.

TMZ has admitted, though, that the story about Oksana trying to extort money from Mel in exchange for the tapes was false and that “Mel and his team are inventing false charges against Oksana as a retaliatory measure to take the heat off of Mel.”

And now Radar has the details of the jealous fit that Mel had on the day he flipped out on Oksana. In case you care, he accused her of being too nice to the gardener. But TMZ tells us that he tried to quit smoking that day, as if that excuses the disgusting things he said. There’s some positive news in all this. Gibson has “voluntarily arranged for an independent observer to be present when he visits with his daughter,” according to TMZ. A domestic violence case against Mel is still pending in LA county while the investigation by the Department of Children and Family Services is also underway. People reports that “Gibson couldface charges including battery, criminal threats and child endangerment (and could be looking at 90 days in jail if convicted), [but] if a judge rules he was illegally taped “the case against him could fall apart and it could be Oksana who’ll be in trouble.” [says L.A. criminal defense attorney Steve Sitkoff.]

see what happens when you cheat??

  2. CandyKay says:

Mel seems to be severely mentally ill, and in need of medication – as Oksana herself suggested.

If his truly bizarre statements and actions are directly linked to his illness, that might be a reason for sympathy. Alcohol probably exacerbates the situation, as does the fact that people around him are willing to make excuses for him in order to protect their own paychecks.

Adam Ant, the 80s singer, lost most of his friends and family due to the angry and violent behavior which was caused by his bipolar disorder. He writes a lot about it in his autobiography, and still does not seem to be entirely healthy – he is in and out of institutions.

Mel’s extreme religiousness might also be a symptom of precarious mental health.

  3. Marjalane says:

The only thing more offensive than this pair of dirty gypsy grifters is the B.S. crap People is paid to promote. More than anything this “scandal” exemplifies how manipulative the Hollywood press can be. A pox on all of it.

  4. Shay says:

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a SNL parody over the Jacuzzi BJ.

  5. fizXgirl314 says:

Mel had feminist issues? What the hell does that mean?

  6. Rachel says:

    @Shay

SNL doesn’t start their new season until September. I am sure we have many Mel skits to look forward to come fall.

Personally, I decided to boycott Mel since Passion of the Christ came out. I knew he was an anti-semite based on that movie. One person’s money doesn’t equal that much but the more people that follow suit, the more effective it will be.

  7. Mouse says:

What a disgusting couple of human beings. And of course they went and reproduced. Poor Lucia doesn’t have a chance.

  8. CB Rawks says:

“if a judge rules he was illegally taped “the case against him could fall apart and it could be Oksana who’ll be in trouble.”

That won’t happen, as it is LEGAL in CA to tape a person without their knowledge if you are doing so to prove you are in danger. Which she was.

  9. CathyT says:

Let’s try this again. TMZ did not “admit” anything about the alleged extortion. They merely quoted Oksana’s sources.

  10. OXA says:

Mel made it clear on the 1st tape that he did not want her anymore & was done with her. So why the need to keep calling and raging like a lunatic if he is done with her.
Blaming Oksanas for everything does not justify his abusive acts against her and her kids.
In the new rant released today, he obscenely tells Oksana to go have sex with someone else in front of her son.

  11. Cirque28 says:

Thanks for not including current photos of Gibson with his shirt off.

I’m still trying to erase the memories from that other thread.

  12. Caprice says:

CB you missed the point made on TMZ that all those conversations that Oksana taped happened on one day after he got pissed at her because he thought she was sleeping with the gardener.

I think this all makes sense now and Oksana is trying to milk it for as much as she can to try and get more money. I’m pretty sure they got in a heated argument on BOTH sides and then Oksana decided to start taping so she could use it against him just in case she didn’t get what she wanted. Which is happening right now.

Its just strange that all this happened in February and after they made a deal she flipped out and decided to make him look horrible for money.

  13. tuscan sun says:

    @ OXA

The rants were all recorded on the same day — February 18.

  14. CathyT says:

@CB Rawks: Mel’s attorney’s will argue that Oksana’s actions demonstrate that she did not make the tapes to help the police, which is necessary to overcome the illegality of secret recordings in CA. The tapes were made in February and she used them to negotiate a civil settlement in May. It wasn’t until late June that she sought a restraining order against Mel, and according to the leaked court transcripts, Oksana’s statement admitted that nothing had happened between them for several months.

  15. Jazz says:

“He provides for eight children and is going through a divorce.”

Most of those kids are adults, surely they can provide for themselves by now.

  16. Lindsay says:

fizXgirl314- I read that sentence over and over trying to figure it out. I have no idea. My two guesses are trouble in relationships with women, or they wanted to name drugs and alcohol as demons but decided against it and that’s what came to mind. Either that or they are crazy too and have no idea what the hell they are saying.

@hapygoleslie – This is not really an example of what happens when you cheat or what happens when you stop smoking. I think numerous factors contributed to this, cheating wasn’t one of them. And if you are thinking karma I don’t think it applies to things you bring on yourself in his case. And no one deserves what happened to her, even if they slept with a married man.

  17. Fae says:

    @Marjalane:

    ‘Dirty gypsy grifters’?

Is insulting a whole section of society catching or something?

  18. finnagen says:

How can there be any trust in a relationship if it starts out as a lie? That’s the conundrum that cheaters live with, if they do it with you they’ll do it to you.

I’m sick of these two – you reap what you sow.

  19. ,,,, says:

Perhaps I am wrong as it has been known to happen but I read those TMZ stories completely differently. Granted, I read them all with a grain of salt but I did not see where TMZ admitted that the extortion claim was false. They simply quoted Oksana’s people as saying that there is no evidence of extortion.

Also, they have never said that Mel used quitting smoking as an excuse. They have always quoted Oksana as saying he was trying to quit smoking that day.

Again, I may be reading them all wrong and I am not at all “pro Mel” as some may accuse. And as I said above, I do take it all with a grain of salt so I am not saying TMZ’s stories are true either, just that I didn’t see any admission of false reporting.

  20. irishserra says:

He brought this all upon himself. No pity from me.

  21. eden says:

    @Cirque28
Ha! I had the exact same gratitude about the choice of picture..that white puffy shirtless troll picture is glued into my frontal lobe.
Look how deep his forehead wrinkle pattern was even at a young age…

    @fizxgirl314 & Lindsay
Maybe the article meant that he had trouble with woman being treated as equals and his having to be in a totally male dominant relationship with a woman. Like he is totally old school about his thoughts on women..that’s how I took it.

Of course he has done kind and generous things for people in his lifetime, even people of other races, that for me is a given…It does not overshadow or discount what is currently happening.
Blaming smoking and even drinking for the insanity that is being exposed is ridiculous at this point.
Nothing outside of Mel, including Oksana, is making him think, say and behave as he does.
The sooner he gets a firm grip on that painful reality the sooner he can take responsibility for himself.
Anyone who tells him different or makes excuses for him needs to get help for themselves as well…

  22. Kitten says:

“she flipped out and decided to make him look horrible for money”

Actually, I’m pretty sure that he made himself look bad all on his own. @Caprice-what kind of world do you live in where it is acceptable to speak to a woman like that? If you suspected your spouse of cheating wouldn’t you initiate a discussion and wait to hear their side first instead of screaming derogatory obscenities and calling your stepson a “p*ssy”? Besides the fact that nowhere in the tapes did he ever accuse Oksana of cheating (that I heard). PLEASE just stop with the tired-ass excuses.

  23. Snarf says:

    Whatever. I’m over it.

  24. xxodettexx says:

“As cute and as normal as he looked back then, he’s no longer that guy and I can’t get “I hope you get raped by a pack of n*” out of my head when I look at him.”

same here! i cannot and will not contribute any more of my money to someone who, regardless of if he was or was not set up by the russian woman HE DECIDED TO LEAVE HIS FAMILY FOR… i do not care if she maliciously tapped his rantings to gain monetary advantage, i just dont care about a “man” who trash talks the mother of his child that way… she did not force the words out of him or send him a script to memorize to use for future conversations, no this disgusting excuse for a human let out his true feelings in a [granted one-sided] rant against the mother of his child… and that on top of his previously anti-jew, anti-women rantings [per The Malibu Incident with the sugar-tittayed cop!

i will use what little money i have and make to support actors that contibute to my entertainment and arent racist misogynists, thank you very much

  25. Chrissy says:

Snarf … I’m with you. Enough. We get it. Mel’s an extreme asshole … moving on …

  26. Kim says:

Mel is a homophobic bigot there is evidence of that from interviews in the early 90’s

  27. Marjalane says:

    #18

Since when are dirty gypsy grifters an entire section of society?

Some people just aren’t happy unless they have something to bitch about.

  28. Kim says:

I think Gibson is an egomaniac who has gotten everything he has wanted out of life & has also gotten away with immature, foul, racist behavior. He has been catered to and not taken responsbility for his actions.

So here comes Oksana, who i think he is somewhat pbsessed with and who has called him out publicly on his issues/isnt letting him control her (Soemthing Robyn never did) and egomaniac Mel can not get over that this woman has done this to HIM. How dare this women do this to ME, the rich and famous Mel Gibson! So he went ballistic because he wants to control her and cant comprehend that she wont just allow it like everyone else in his life has up to this point. I think he is shicked she is standing up for herself and it kills him he cant control her so he cant control himself.

Re: Candy Kay – interesting regarding Adam Ant. Wondered what happened to him….

  31. sapphire says:

What’s new? He’s still scum but this is getting boring. As is the inacurate description on TMZ’s story. Sorry, CB, that isn’t what it says.
    @Mouse-you got that right!

  32. Statler says:

    #28 Marjalane-

Gypsies are, in fact, a section of society. A very small one, though, admittedly. Was that your point?

Otherwise, with all the well-known stereotypes about them, the phrase ‘dirty gypsy grifters’ seems to be a rather- shall we say ‘dicey’?- choice.

  33. Statler says:

Oh, and I love that Mel Gibson as some-sort-of-troll closeup! I never knew he had multiple rows of teeth.

    That’s awesome.

  34. viper says:

God look at those eyes, he had it all and yet he’s so ugly inside. BUT LOOK AT HIM IN THAT COVER. I havent seen any of his work in the past just The Patriot and Braveheart (both crap) and Pocahontas (ridiculously malodramatic and grossly inaccirate) but WOW he really was good looking. Key word being WAS.

  35. Crash2GO2 says:

@Statler: Thank you so much for taking Marjalane to task for the ‘dirty gypsy grifters’ comments. I have simply been too tired and overwhelmed. This is (I believe) the third time he/she has used the term in reference to the Mel/Oksana debackle. Maybe ‘it’ feels safe making sterotypical comments about small sections of society as apposed to large ones??

  36. I have not too long ago started a blog, the knowledge you supply on this website has aided me extremely. Appreciation for all of your time & work.

  37. UrbanRube says:

Like attracts like. As for me: do not like.

  38. jane16 says:

Revolting. I hate people rag. Enty over on cdan calls it “kneepads”. And who are the so called celebs they are quoting? I’ve never heard of them.

  39. ks says:

    Statler,
in my country of birth, live very large % of this so called society, can i tell you that 95% of them are uneducated, cant even write, they robe, rape, kill….,don’t work, live on welfare, they get free electricity, free water, free homes, who after few months are almost gone,by the age of 18 they have like 4 kids…i don’t like them,in fact i hate them, any problem with this?

  40. Jeri says:

People magazine lost their credibility along time ago as far as celebs are concerned. They kiss butt if you agree to be in their mag and only critize if you are no longer a hot celeb.

They’re just like the tv show Entertainment Tonight.

  41. Statler says:

@ks- No problem at all, if you like being flamed.

Although this seems to be a dying thread. Too bad.

@Crash- Good point. Testing boundaries, maybe?

  42. whatever says:

“TMZ has admitted, though, that the story about Oksana trying to extort money from Mel in exchange for the tapes was false” —That is not true at all. The TMZ story was about reports from Oksana’s camp and included the comment by one of these sources that “Mel and his team are inventing false charges against Oksana as a retaliatory measure to take the heat off of Mel.” This is not what TMZ is “admitting”; it is what Oksana is alleging. This obvious mistake reflects shoddy reporting by Celebitchy. Here is the url: http://www.tmz.com/2010/07/23/oksana-grigorieva-mel-gibson-extortion-spousal-abuse-invsetigation/

  43. jane16 says:

@ whatever: Whatever. Celebitchys reporting has been a lot more accurate than the celeb ass kissers @ tmz, people, and their crappy ilk.

  44. oh hey says:

    Marjalane,

Dumb commenters are a section of society too.

  45. Mistral says:

    “Dirty gypsy grifters”?????????

Wow, insulting. You know, I’m pretty sure most gypsies (Roma) are not unwashed con men/women…

And to all of you people who sound like you might be those paid Mel supporters, it is a total JOKE that you keep trying to put Mel and Oksana on the same level.

They are NOT “equal” in their “scuminess”. She is NOT to blame for Mel’s insanity and his insane reactions to her “transgressions” (real/imagined).

why would Oksana be a “horrible” human being for taping Mel’s assholish, psychotic and TOTALLY ABUSIVE behaviour. What we’ve heard on those tapes will be enough for the police to say she was gathering evidence that she needed to keep herself and her kid safe from a law enforcement/legal standpoint.

Just because she slept with and started a relationship with a guy who has been cheating on his wife forever, and had been pretty much separated from, doesn’t make her a horrible human being or a horrible mother.

These People pieces are a joke. When Mel gets some serious help and admits that he had no excuses for his behaviour, and just completely takes responsibility, then he can have back the lost respect. Until he sincerely tries to better himself and get help, screw him and screw his enablers. No one is doing him any favours who is making excuses for him. He needs a team of doctors more than a team of PR spin-merchants and lawyers.

  46. My2Cents says:

Marjalane – who says or even thinks things like that anymore? Go away.

  47. oduroyal says:

Good commentary…I definitely remember when the tapes first came out, they did not mention Mel Gibson AT ALL on People magazine’s website and didn’t that whole week the drama was unfolding I recall.

  48. Emily says:

I never got the appeal of him, I think I was too young to remember him in his glory days.

I’m just curious though, how can a Catholic be anit-semitic? I mean, he does know that Jesus was a Jew, yes? Or has he somehow Stalined that out of his version of history?

  49. flourpot says:

“Poor angry abusive billionaire Mel. All he wants is a blowjob and our sympathy.”

    Lawl!

  50. Jaxx says:

There is nothing sexy about Mel’s mouth. I will never buy People magazine again.

  51. Kelly says:

So he bit off more than he could chew with Oxana, thinking he was getting a nice compliant little starf*cker with a proven track record, when in reality he was getting a veteran snake who knows every trick in the ho book- boo hoo! All I can say is thanks Oxana for outing his hairy arse. Nice work.

  52. Sincerity says:

    Bravo! Whatever & Cathy T!

I really don’t understand why this site has such a problem with TMZ? Could it be that TMZ is trying to “step back and let the chips fall where they may”?

Under the circumstances, it really doesn’t matter how any of us feel about these two. What matters is the evidence that both “the investigators and courts determine to be relevant” regarding this case. This is probably why many people in Hollywood haven’t openly said anything one way or the other. They’re simply waiting on the authorities to determine WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!

  53. LuckyLilGem says:

Wonder if Robyn, Mel’s ex-wife, is laughing all the way to the bank? 🙂 You go girl!!

  54. Abigail says:

First of all let me say I am a 40 year old female, a mother of three teenagers, 2 of them daughters and someone who has survived severe domestic abuse from childhood to young adulthood by a father who makes Mel Gibson look like a Jehovah’s Witness. Having been a TRUE domestic -PHYSICAL abuse survivor myself, along with my mother, I can tell you that she and I both truly feel for very sorry for Mel Gibson. She and I don’t suffer from some strange/sick disorder where we feel sorry for our abuser, in fact, just the opposite.
My mother divorced my father when I was 21, after-which, we had my father arrested, we went to the police repeatedly, we sought out restraining orders, we fought him in court for over five years when I was 30-35, not to get money from my father, (as my mother escaped only with the clothes on her back) rather we had to fight my father in court, to not give him my money, when he tried to extorted 7 figures from me when I became a successful public figure.
He tried to ruin my career and embarrass me in the media every chance he got. We had audio tapes too, of his extortion attempts, communicated death threats, blackmail, coercion, etc., and after spending $250,000 to defend myself from my father for five years and we never even had a trial date set, I paid him over six figures to go the hell away and stay away forever. My mother and I even went to great lengthens to warn his second wife, prior to their wedding (she was younger than me, when they married) and we even warned her entire family repeatedly and in person being her mother, father, sisters, pastor, brother, etc., about my father’s documented abusive past.
But that didn’t stop her from having his baby, then take every dime he had in CASH (the settlement funds I had given him a month earlier to leave me alone forever) in a duffel bag, from his apartment where he had been living alone, (with a smile on her face, as I watched her do it, from a nearby parked car) after she had his dead body removed in a cardboard box like a John Doe, after my father had drunkenly fallen down a flight of stairs and cracked his head open and bled to death a week before their divorce was to be finalized. He had been dead three days before anyone noticed. She drove off in his Lexus, with a smile of her face, talking on her cell phone with a small fortune in cash in the front seat, not even realizing she was driving right past me.
I again went to the police, the clerk of court and did everything I could do. She never opened an estate and I have never met my half sister and haven’t seen or heard from her in over 10 years. I hear she is going on her third marriage in her mid thirties now. My father was 55 years old at the time of his death. I was the only person to show up at the funeral home to view his body, she had him cremated the next day, the end. Maybe we should consider for one moment that domestic abuse could include driving someone to the brink of insanity, as I believe is the case with Mel Gibson.
The second cause for filing a divorce petition, right under irreconcilable differences, is incurable insanity. And let me tell you something. If I had invested $5,000,000.00 into the aspiration (pipe-dream) of a singing career for a man who claimed to love me, have him father a child with me, only to take my baby, my money, three years of my life, my trust and then have him live comfortably while held up in my house without me, next demanding that I financially support him for the next 18 years while he fights me with my money for custody of my child, child support and alimony, I assure you this would drive many of us (at least the honest ones among us) to the blink of insanitary.
I have listened to all of the tapes released thus far. I have heard Mel says that he is so hurt and that he has been hurt so badly, on multiple occasions in the recordings. The place his venom is coming from is clearly a place of pain. He has been played so badly by a woman who is much like my younger ex-stepmother. After all is said and done, for some people money makes it all worth it. No matter what my ex-younger stepmother endure d, as my father’s abuse had been emotional rather than physical, as it had been with my mom and me, at the end of the day, she seemed so very pleased in his Lexus with the duffle bag of cash by her side, smiling as she drove past me. And let me state, had I not warned her, given her refuge in my home and hadn’t been the source of the financial windfall she looted from the apartment of her deceased husband (my father) the week before their divorce would have been finalized, I may not have ever had this perspective now. What I saw her do, almost made me insane.
She was heartless. The cardboard box she had him in, the having no memorial service whatsoever, she didn’t even call me nor any of his friends to inform us he had died. I had to find the funeral home by calling all over town and try to stop the cremation for a few hours so that I could say goodbye to my father. I pray that Mel has the faith and heart to withstand this demonic attack. I agree that he was used, I agree she played him, I agree she didn’t love him, I agree she had his child to gain financial support from a very famous and wealthy man, I agree she is a gold-digger and I think these revolutions by Mel about what she was doing to him and had done to him, have driven him to the brink of insanity.
I pray Mel doesn’t commit suicide over this temporary problem, as I have also buried a close friend after his wife behaved in a similar manner. I pray that those of you without any sin, cast the first stone and since not one of you can claim that, don’t judge unless you are prepared to be judged yourself. And with all things being equal, Mel has done some outstanding things in his life, which the Almighty will certainly take into consideration. I pray God uphold Mel through this trail, strengthen him, forgive him, purify him and give him long suffering patience to endure your judgment.

  58. Cirque28 says:

ks– I was only teasing you. No hard feelings.

Borat occasionally says vitriolic things about the Romani people, so that was the basis for my reference.

I’d like to have a conversation with Sacha Baron Coen too! He IS very intelligent (and outrageous). And, yes, he is Jewish.

I’m going to take a little bit of a harder line than Cirque is, but then I’ve had people like you tell me that I’m scum simply because of my genetic make up rather than my personality. I sincerely hope Cirque hasn’t, it’s a horrible feeling.

As you’re using quite an old fashioned (and to some rather offensive) term I don’t know if you’re referring to the Roma, Irish Travellers or others. What I do know is that you seem to hate every one of them regardless of their individual personalities. It sounds very familiar to me- there are people in England, where I’m from, who speak this way about Pakistani people. I argue with them too. I understand that I’ve not been to your country so I have not seen for myself, but people who talk this way do rub up some of my old wounds the wrong way.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, but disagree I do. Fervently.

    Edit: MAN I’m touchy today.

Why is “KS” allowed to post bigoted hate hate speech against all Romany Gypsy people and call us “dirty gypsy grifters”? Maybe KS should work out his/her literacy issues and gain some compassion before they try to spread hatred, misunderstanding and libel about our ethnicity.

Do they pay the Mel Trolls by the word? The essays favouring him are real scrolldown events.

  62. Cirque28 says:

@CB Rawks: Yep, Mel’s team of dedicated shills should realize that non-Jewish Jesus wants them to EDIT. Most of their posts are TLDR for me.

  63. Nancie says:

I think it is very sad, that Mel has come to this, I’ve enjoyed his work for years. $$$$$ is the root of all evil, and the money has gotten the best of his life.

  64. the thinker says:

    @ abigail

I’ve got news for you – everyone who hurts someone else is coming from a place of pain – whether it’s past or present. Pain doesn’t justify battery or murder threats. That’s co-dependent thinking – read up on it. There’s no excuse for Mel’s verbal or physical violence. I’m sorry for your story, but it sounds like you have issues that make you sympathize with abusive men – associating them with your father. You paint him as a horrible abuser, but then express sympathy for him and paint him as a victim. Which is it? Or, if it’s both – couldn’t Oksana be both a gold-digger and a victim – just like your father? I wholeheartedly disagree with your symapathy for Mel based on the idea that “the evil woman” made the weak man turn homicidal – bullsh%#. Isn’t he a “good man” capable of controlling himself? Mel picked Oksana, apparently for shallow reasons and he gets what he gets. If he picked a gold-digger, he knew what he was getting and was willing to pay. She should do whatever it takes to protect her child from him. Otherwise, Lucia will grow up an addict, porn actress or weak woman picking the same kind of abusive man as her father. Don’t bring God into it – He doesn’t want any part of blaming the battered woman. I’m sure of that.
BTW, many people turn away from religion altogether because of this kind of hypocritical, mysoginistic, judgemantal thinking.
