Lindsay Lohan was released from jail at 1:35 am, already in rehab

According to both TMZ and E! News, Lindsay Lohan was released from jail at 1:35 a.m., my guess is Pacific time. There were no Paris Hilton-esque bank of paparazzi waiting to capture her first steps as a free crackhead, however. Instead, Lindsay was driven immediately to UCLA Medical Center for treatment (for meth and bipolar disorder? Eh).

These last two weeks probably couldn’t go by fast enough for Lindsay Lohan. But Lohan (and her hair extensions) managed to make it through a sojourn at Lynwood’s Century Regional Detention Facility, serving 14 days of a 90-day sentence for a probation violation in a DUI case.

Lohan was sprung at 1:35 a.m. Monday, although she managed to elude dozens of camera crews outside. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told the assembled masses that Lohan was ushered to rehab in an unmarked van.

Not that she had time for teary reunions or fab photo ops…

Los Angeles Superior Court Marsha Revel had ordered that Lohan report to a treatment facility within 24 hours rather than allow her time to unwind before fulfilling the part of her sentence that’s actually going to last for 90 days.

“Per court order she has been sent directly to her next destination, which is a treatment center,” Whitmore said. “She is now under the supervision of the L.A. County Probation Department. This concludes her custody. We are done. Thank you all for behaving. We can all go home now.”

While early reports had the 24-year-old checking into the Morningside Recovery in coastal Orange County, about an hour south of Los Angeles, the actress was later said to be headed to the UCLA Medical Center for intense counseling for both substance abuse and emotional issues. There has been no confirmation from the facility, the D.A. or Lohan’s camp.

“The judge’s order will dictate the manner in which she will be released and to whom, and I have not seen that,” attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told E! News earlier Sunday after paying Lohan a visit in jail. “She is doing fine…She is ready.”

Holley, who despite originally trying to step down as Lohan’s counsel ended up being quite the vigilant legal eagle, has repeatedly argued that her client needed time with family upon her release, but Revel was ultimately too concerned that Lohan would relapse if left to her own devices.

Lohan’s get-out-of-jail time had already been pretty well established by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials, so a horde of cameras, news crews and assorted looky-loos were there to try to in vain to capture the beleaguered starlet upon her release (we stopped counting at 100)—in a free-for-all reminiscent of when a certain socialite passed through those same doors several years ago.

[From E! News]

I think UCLA Medical Center sounds like a fine facility for Lindsay and her addictions. I was worried that she would be sent to some cupcake rehab where she would get some special dispensation to keep taking all of her prescriptions, but there’s something about the tone of this that makes me think that Judge Revel has taken a personal interest in getting Lindsay healthy, for real this time. Now my only concern is that 90 days might be too short a time to get her clean.

Good. Now make sure she doesn’t go to holiday camp for celebrities.

  2. Po says:

She may not see it this way but it looks like she has been given a huge opporotunity. I hope her enabling mother and sleazy father let her take it. Those parents just seem so toxic, I wonder if she’ll be able to address that in rehab. If she doesn’t get rid of those two and the rest of the people who have hurt her she doesn’t have a chance.

  3. Hautie says:

So her parents were obviously not told she was being released at 1 in the morning, leaving jail in a unmarked van. Or they would have sold that info to TMZ.

I do hope that the UCLA rehab cuts off all communication to everyone for at least 60 days.

If there was ever a girl that needed to clear her head… it is Lindsay.

Plus her leechy parents need to figure out how to pay their own bills. Doing something that does not require selling Lindsay’s personal struggle in rehab, to the tabloids.

  4. purelife says:

looks like someone sprayed her with freckles. just too much. even her hands? freckles are cute but if too much, she needs pen and connect the dots.

  5. lucy2 says:

I hope she does go to a more serious place like that, not some celebrity day spa rehab.
Any decent rehab would probably recommend more time if needed beyond the 90 days. I wonder if that happens, if the judge can force her to do it.

  6. photo jojo says:

If she’s really being diagnosed as bipolar (and it’s my guess she will be), she’s been self medicating all this time. With the right combination of appropriate psychiatric meds (NOT Ritalin) she can begin to feel her moods stable out and become more even. Let’s hope she has a great psychiatrist and therapy team at her disposal. She’s going to need it.

  7. Po says:

Hautie, I didn’t even think about that. There’s no way her father knows shes getting released and doesnt come out with his attorney and cameras. He must not have known. Its possible mom knew but if she is still sticking to her story that Lindsey is not an addict she probably didn’t want any cameras catching her in really bad shape.

  8. meme says:

Hohan must be pissed she didn’t get her fabulous released from the slammer photo-op for all the world to see.

  9. mln says:

I hope she stays longer than 90 days, I hope her father stays out of the media(yeah right) and I hope her mother stays away from her and gets some intensive therapy. But most of all I hope there are no interviews until she really is clean and sober and sane.

  10. dread pirate cuervo says:

I hope UCLA MC enforces a strict no fraternization policy & that they do ban communication with outside parties for the first few weeks like a real rehab.

  11. Shari says:

Hey Purelife – get a life. Who are you the ‘freckles police”?

  12. Exiled says:

rehab doesn’t work unless YOU are ready to quit…forced rehab rarely ever sticks.

  13. Praise St. Angie! says:

making fun of someone’s freckles is akin to making fun of someone’s skin color. would you say the same thing about someone being “too dark”…not too TAN, but DARK? methinks not.

she can’t help it…for all of her problems, you’re going to pick on her for something she can’t control?

  14. sapphire says:

Does anyone know about UCLA’s treatment program? It at least sounds more serious than Promises or the other rehab/vacations

  15. Freckles are skin damage says:

so its not making fun of someone’s skin color. Its making fun of someone who didn’t know well enough to use sunscreen.

  16. bellaluna says:

I highly doubt UCLA Medical Centre will be an enabling force in LL’s life. That’s a serious place, folks. I only wish it was for 6 months, not 3; add the cut-off jail time to her rehab stay.

Not all freckles are due to a lack of sunscreen; sometimes the sun can make them multiply, but I inherited mine.

  17. denise says:

LIndsanity is out already?!?! Geez talk about doing hard time.

  18. Scarlet Vixen says:

@Freckles are skin damage: Ugh…Freckles are NOT skin ‘damage’. They are GENETIC clusters of melanin (skin pigmentation) that can be brought out by the sun–even tiny amounts of sunlight because our skin doesn’t protect us against sunlight like people who are not as fair-skinned. Lohan is a natural redhead (as am I). Our skin pigmentation is simply different than most. I have a moderate amount of freckles (again–BORN with), but my older brother is like Lohan and has them everywhere. Even on his chest, legs, and other places that don’t get alot of sun. Have you seen “The Parent Trap”? She’s had her freckles since she was a kid–just like most fair-skinned people. People saying that we only have that many freckles from too much sunbathing is practically akin to saying that African American people have darker skin because they spend too much time outside. What an idiot.

  19. GatsbyGal says:

Freckles CAN be a sign of skin damage, but sometimes they’re NOT. Do gingers all have skin damage? Get real, stupid.

  20. Ruby Red Lips says:

I hope this is a ‘real’ tough rehab, unlike the other ‘vacations’ she has been through b4

My concern is that once she’s out she’ll be bcak with her toxic pimping parents and her social circle of drug abusers and be right back where she started

For what ever reason the girl doesn’t seem to have a clue

I really hope she proves me wrong but think 3 months in no way long enough to do any long term good

BTTW – lots of people are born with freckles – what a stupid comment to make that its all sun damage

  21. MsDeb says:

My daughter is a blonde. No freckles. We took her out on our boat when she was 5, plenty of sunscreen. The reflection of the water triggered the production of freckles (or so says my dentist ex-husband). He was horrified and made her feel as if she were a freakish monster, and bought her fade cream. Freckles sometimes happen. She was genetically predisposed as both her father and her uncle are covered in freckles. Now having said that, had a relative with same drug issues. After 30 day stay, was put on a plane and sent to a clean living facility for 60 more. Came out a “dry drunk/addict”. You can not force someone to change. They have to want it. They will stay clean only as long as they have to. Bitter truth.

  22. denise says:

All the “stupid” remarks are really uncalled for. A simple correction would suffice. C’mon ladies, all the catty comments are unnecessary and somewhat cruel.

  23. Green Is Good says:

My word, a Lowhan actually NOT calling the Pappz for yet another fabulous “Look me” fame-whoring moment?! Alert the media! (ha ha ha!)

  24. original kate says:

i hope the rehab she goes to is very strict, as in no “day trips” to the mall, no visitors, etc. lohan needs to stay away from her toxic family and her hanger-on friends if she’s ever going to get & stay sober. while i don’t have high hopes (or any hopes, really) for her, i do hope she can pull it together.

  25. Captaine says:

All that fuckin cryin and whining and yo ass was only in the clink for 2 weeks.

    Ridiculous…

  26. Nuharoo says:

    That’s ‘justice’ for you.

  27. kelbear says:

So no one got any pictures of her coming out of the jail?

  28. lrm says:

thank god people have a clue about freckles…and calling thoes comments ‘stupid’ is not too much-it IS stupid for people to be making fun of someone for having them…
and yes, skin spots can be caused by the sun, and for that matter, LiVER toxins can show up in the skin [liver processes any and all toxins for the body, if it’s overtaxed, well, the skin can show it]
BUT, as someone who grew up with freckles, and has them now, it is cruel, stupid and just sh*tty to hear other grown adults on a celebrity blog making fun of them-to think that people may be disgusted by my body-wow. That is not different than the body image issues constantly harped on, on this blog…women are expected to look a certain way, blah blah blah.
Same for skin then? We are expected to have plain white or tan colored skin or something?

Also, while I have freckles, only one of my brothers does, the other is darker haired and skinnned, and does not.Same biological parents.
    DUH, people.
    Freakin’ DUH.
and yes, stupid as well as retarded, to make such idiotic comments.

And having a tag name ‘freckles are sun damage’
LOL omg that’s the proof: the world has tipped in favor of idiots for the time being.
    sigh.

Honestly though-=it’s sad and hurtful to have people constantly talking about how gross her freckles are-
they are not a fashion statement, for god sake. I think they are racist comments, and celebi*tchy bans those, right?

  29. GatsbyGal says:

@Denise – God forbid we be “catty” on a gossip blog. Oops, I forgot that this is the internet…everyone be on your best behavior!

Also @lrm – “Freckly” isn’t a race, so no, mean comments about freckles aren’t racist, just mean.

  30. EnoughAlready says:

Can everyone please can it with the freckles? BORING BORING BORING

  31. bnice says:

Actually, I think it may be premature to diagnose Lindsay when she is not “clean”-substance abuse makes a correct diagnosis difficult, if not impossible. She’ll have to be drug-free for a while before they can know what’s really up with her. I hope that they focus more on behavioral therapy than just medicating her, though. Medication doesn’t help you heal from anything, it just helps you deal with it as is. My opinion only (as someone diagnosed bi-polar who’s been on and off meds), of course.

  32. denise says:

    @ Gatsby

There’s a line between being catty and cruel. I hate the way some posters attack others intelligence. Yes her post may have been incorrect but she was attacked when she could have just been corrected. It seems some posters get off on that type of ish.

  33. Ruby Red Lips says:

    @ Denise

Its annoying when somebody makes such a statement that is factually not true. It was a very silly flippant comment made from somebody for all we know could be highly intelligent but just happened to make a stupid comment – that is not calling the person stupid but just saying their comment was

  34. mollination says:

I just got this weird surge of hope fof her – I’m not saying I believe she will get better, but for the first time I believe there is the possibility.

Seriously, 3 months is a long time to be alone with one’s thoughts and the guided counsel of trained professionals. If they keep her away from everyone else for that long, she might just have a break through and finally see for herself what her parents and peers have done for her. Now, getting white oprah to come in there and see the light during a family-intervention style meeting….well, that’s doubtful.

So thus, we are back to square one if that happens. Because the second she gets out, she will need immediate support to fall into. Strong, non-deluded support. Without it, she will likely snap right back into her old ways. That is, assuming this 90 day program can snap her out of it in the first place. Here’s hoping Lindsay – you’ve actually – for the first time in years – got a shot in hell.

  35. Jeri says:

Meth & BiPolar. That makes sense. I hope for her sake this takes & she doesn’t just act the part but actually walks the walk.

I’m sure we’ll hear a denial from Dina any moment.

  36. GatsbyGal says:

@Ruby Red Lips – Nah, I actually WAS calling that “Freckles are sun damage” poster stupid. Stupid people tend make stupid comments, and anyone who believes that being freckly always means you neglect the sunscreen is a true idiot.

  37. Camille says:

I worry that 90 days isn’t going to be long enough either Kaiser. She needs 6 to 12 months at the least.

  38. Kylie says:

@ purelife. Congrats! You are the LAMEST commenter here! Cheers to you!

  39. Ruby Red Lips says:

@ GatsbyGirl – lol!! I was trying to be diplomatic – but think you’re likely to be right!! 😉
