I think Life & Style’s cover this week is totally a low blow. The basic gist is that L&S somehow (eye roll) got an interview with two of Tiger Woods’ former mistresses, Jaimee Grubbs and Jamie Jungers. They somehow (eye roll) got Grubbs and Jungers to go the record about Elin Woods, who I’m thinking Grubbs and Jungers have never met, ever. Considering Elin got wide praise for her restrained and seemingly honest People Magazine interview, it just seems like people (mistresses) are just trying to take Elin down for no reason other than malice (and a payday).
Elin Nordegren finally broke her silence about ex-husband Tiger Woods’ infidelities in an interview last week but several of his former mistresses now tell Life & Style Elin was holding back—for a major payday.
“Money can buy anything — including silence,” former mistress Jaimee Grubbs tells Life & Style.
“I’m sure Elin is hiding millions of secrets,” Jamie Jungers – whom Tiger had an 18-month affair beginning in June 2005 – tells Life & Style exclusively. “She’s not a stupid woman. I’d imagine she knew more about his indiscretions than she wanted to say. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tiger forced Elin to do the interview in order to save his reputation — to make himself look better.”
With a settlement estimated at more than $100 million, Elin is still, in effect, under Tiger’s heavy-handed control.
“I don’t believe Elin was blindsided,” says Jamie. “Tiger was too open, or at least not cautious about hiding. Elin knew more than she wanted to say.”

Here’s the thing – I don’t really think Elin was as “blindsided” as she claims either. I don’t think Elin really knew about the extent of Tiger’s affairs, or with so many women, but when I read those exhaustive Vanity Fair pieces about Tiger’s married life, I was struck by how little time he and Elin actually spent with each other during their marriage. Their marriage seemed very clinical to me, all business and photo ops and no passion or goodwill. Once again, I’m not saying that it’s Elin’s fault or that she had it coming or anything – I’m NOT. I’m just saying that there’s more to Elin’s story, but that I still have a lot of sympathy for her. And Tiger’s former mistresses should shut the hell up.

I mean, she had two babies to look after and she was in love with her husband and thought he was in love with her so, yeah, she should have known he was cheating on her. When she kissed him goodbye as he went off to yet another golf tournament and she stayed home with two babies, she should have known he was humping ‘hos, shouldn’t she? I mean, what wife wouldn’t?
I can’t believe people are doing this to Elin. Leave her alone and allow her the peace she needs to heal and raise her babies.

Tiger had people in his life helping him to hide his freakiness and before the kids were born, Elin used to go with him to tournaments. After the kids came along, she stayed home to be a good mom and care for her children. And they are trashing her for that?? Please. Anyone ever been cheated on? The kinds of guys who cheat are good at it, they know how to sweet talk you so you think, “it could never happen to us”.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Elin did have some dirt on Tiger, drugs, addictions, nasty personality, something Tiger’s people wouldnt want her talking about AND it behooves her to let Tiger make money and recreate a decent persona, he is their children’s father.

It was reported that the night of the car crash, she was mad after checking his phone. And previously he texted a girlfriend and asked her to change her voice mail because Elin had found her name in a text or something. She probably smelled something but had no idea the extent.

I imagine he was a charmer and a first rate pathological liar. Even if she challenged him with some suspicion he could lie his way out or challenge her perception. It’s believable that even though she may have had suspicions he would allay her fears. Or she simply did not know, especially given how many people were willing to cover for him.

Tiger’s money and status was certainly an attraction to Elin. Had Tiger been the grounds keeper, she would have never noticed him. On the other hand, Elin’s blonde beauty was the dominating factor for Tiger. Money and looks are things of initial attraction but should not be the basis of a committment. Keep your hands off married men and the skanks that sleep with them. Keep your committments or get out with respect and dignity.

Were any of you commentators behind the closed doors of Elin and Tiger’s house. I suspected my ex a number of years before I called him on it. It is humiliating to be betrayed so badly. Elin has taken the high road and doing it very well.
I’m very much in the “Elin was blindsided” camp. When my marriage falls into the hum-drum of routine or I witness my husband being gregarious with a woman at a party, am I to suspect he’s fooling around? I would feel guilty confronting him with a lack of trust in our marriage because of my “natural” insecurities. It’s something a wife doesn’t want to face because if a wife expresses her concerns it reveals doubts in the husband and the marriage. Obviously, these doubts have to be confronted if they go long enough. The husband of my friend appologized to her when confronted. Not because he was cheating but because his lack of attentiveness gave her those unbearable thoughts. Men can be wonderful.

She had to do a lot of sex work to get him to marry her. There are plenty of blond/blue eyed women he could have married.
What was their pre-marriage sex life like? Did he keep his sexual interests a secret to her? No way. She knew everything.

@ Victoria: first of all, can we please get the facts straight; she was not a nanny, she was an au pair, HUGE differens.
Secondly, couples sex lives changes during the relationship, especially after kids are born.
And I think it’s pretty obvious Tiger was a good liar and if he had an army of handlers covering up for him I don’t see why Elin couldn’t have been blind-sided…As someone said, she had her hands full raising two kids, and she and Tiger probably agreed, for the kids sake, that she wouldn’t travel with him when he was playing.
Finally, why, WHY do magazines keep giving these whores publicity?

Life and Style could have paid any of us to give our opinions on whether or not Elin knew, and it would have been just as valid as paying these idiots. Just because they slept with Tiger doesn’t mean they know anything real about his marriage. It isn’t like they were family friends.
Even if the woman suspected her husband was cheating, I know plenty of people who allow spouses to convince them that they are crazy. No one wants to believe the worst about the person they love. Who wouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt?

I don’t know if Elin was blindsided, but isn’t the classy thing to do to NOT trash your kid’s dad? I feel so bad for those kids. I’ll never forget seeing the older kid at about a year old after Tiger won a tournament. Elin and the baby, Sam, were standing next to Tiger as he got the trophy, and Sam reached out for her dad to hold her, which he did. So sweet. She must miss him terribly. : ( And the littler one, too.
Now as for wives knowing – from my observations of various women I’ve known, wives USUALLY don’t admit something’s off, at least initially, and their friends reassure them. It has to be REALLY obvious for them to know, and the likelihood of the wife “wanting to work things out and stay together” can be predicted by the guy’s salary – the more money he makes, the more likely she is to want to stay together.
What’s the difference between a nanny and an au pair? Other than one term is English and one is French?
who cares if elin was a former nanny? so was princess diana. it’s apparently not uncommon in europe for young women to work as nannies whilst they’re young, and it’s not seen as a low class job there either unlike the way some people here are equating it to be. elin was more than just an au pair, or a nanny. she was also a uni student when she met woods and was on a break when she was working for the parneviks together with her twin sister. tiger knows exactly what kind of girl he likes as a girlfriend, since his ex prior to elin was also a blonde and was a law student. btw, one of the reasons tiger cited why he was attracted to elin was coz she was never the clingy type. she may have trusted him and had been focused in looking after the kids instead of following him around the whole time.
Late to the party, but at least in Scandinavia an au-pair is someone (usually a high school graduates or university students taking a year off)working for a family in a foreign country (the job does not always include taking care of children. I had a friend who spent a year taking care of a dog and reading to an old lady) Au-pairs usually don’t get paid, but they live with the family who provides for them.
