Who knew that Jim Parsons was gay? I sure didn’t. Then again, I never really thought about it – I don’t watch that show The Big Bang Theory, so my only exposure to Parsons has been in little Entertainment Tonight interview snippets and such. He comes across as a very strange, sweet little bird, and I thought his oddness placed him firmly on Team Vagina-Lover. Isn’t that always the case? The Gays get all of the suave, great-looking dudes with awesome bodies, and Team Vadge gets the weird, quirky, skinny boys that look like baby ducklings. Anyway, welcome to The Gays, Jim! According to the Enquirer, Parsons is not only gay, but he’s in a secret (not so much) committed relationship with a dude named Todd Spiewak. The Enquirer’s sources say that Parsons was so thrilled with his Emmy win a few weeks ago, he dropped to his knees (wait for it) and proposed! Yay!
Jim Parsons walked off with two fantastic prizes the very same night – an Emmy and a husband! The 37-year-old star celebrated his victory by proposing to longtime boyfriend Todd Spiewak – and now they are planning a Christmastime trip to Massachusetts where they’ll tie the knot, say insiders.
“After he got his award, he told Todd the only thing that would make him happier is if they got married – and Todd quickly said yes,” a close pal of the couple told The Enquirer.
Jim and 33-year-old Todd, an art director, began dating three years ago and moved into an LA house last year. The actor has never publicly come out of the closet, but he hasn’t attempted to hide the fact that he and Todd are a couple.
“Jim is very quiet about the relationship because he lives an extremely private like, but they’re very much in love,” said the pal.

First: He’s 37 years old?!? Goodness. He looks about 15. Back on topic: if all of this is true (why not?), then congratulations to the happy couple! I don’t know if we should be talking about this if Jim hasn’t officially come out of the closet though – I can’t find any photos of Jim and Todd together, walking any kind of red carpet, or even some candid photos. Of course, are paparazzi really going to be staking out Jim and Todd’s house? No. And allegedly, Jim did bring Todd to the Emmys, and they sat beside each other and everything (video below), although they didn’t walk the red carpet. Hm. Oh well, we’ll never know for sure unless Jim confirms it. Queerty pointed out something hilarious though: Neil Patrick Harris, “de facto president of the gay mafia” is a big fan of Parsons. One more thing: Jim name-checked Todd in his Emmy speech:

That being said, it’s no one’s business who JP is dating or involved with unless he makes it obvious with PDA’s. So far as I can tell he hasn’t with this guy Todd (I’ve seen other pics of them together).

I just wanted to add another “I love Jim Parsons” comment. The guy is amazing as Sheldon and he definitely deserved the Emmy! However, I have to say I don’t like the fact that The Bing Bang Theory has become the Sheldon show. The secondary characters are hilarious and I’d love to see more stories focused on them!

I used to see Jim jogging in the mornings when I lived in West Hollywood (so I always figured there was a pretty good chance he may be gay) I’ve always been so impressed with him as both an actor and a person. Plus he gives us (former) Texans a good name! I wish them all the best.

I’m sorry,but hasn’t he always been “out”? Why does someone have to announce it to the world? Can’t he just live his life? It is their business. I haven’t ever yelled out from the rooftops that I’m straight. If people want equality hopefully we can get to a point when we don’t have to pat people on the back for publicly announcing their sexuality. This doesn’t mean that they are hiding anything, it just isn’t an issue. As far as I’m concerened most people are not bigots, they just don’t care who you are sleeping with. I don’t get how people can say how the sanctity of marriage will be destroyed if gays marry?…how is it not already being destroyed by quickie marriages, the high divorce rate, gold diggers, people not taking marriage sacredly to begin with? Okay, it IS the Enquirer reporting this, but I thought, No shit. I assumed he was openly gay from the first time I saw a picture of him.
There are several other pictures of them together. I think he actually did walk the carpet with him at the Emmy’s he just didn’t pose for pictures with him. I believe it was either the Seacrest or Ausiello interview you can see Todd in the background. There are a few pictures of them together at parties and out to dinner. Todd is even in his family portrait. If you watch the 2009 Emmy’s during NPH’s opening number during the “where’s Paula Abdul” when it cuts to the empty chair you can clearly see the two of them sitting together right behind it. If you look at pictures from the PCAs when TBBT won Todd had to get up to let Kaley and Johnny out because he was sitting next to Jim who was on the end. He’s even in pictures with the rest of TBBT cast in Rome. I knew after he won it was going to happen fairly soon, but I hate that this is how it had to happen. That being said, it is the nicest outing I’ve ever seen so I suppose he’s fortunate that it wasn’t malicious. I just hope that the two of them are ok through all of this.

I ADORE him. He is amazing as Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory and everyone should watch. It is funny and smart and one needs to be quick to see just how brilliant the humor is. I am little concerned about the move to 8 on Thursdays. It is a more mature show and I am not sure how well it will play to the 8 o’clock crowd.
If he is gay, it matters not. If that is his boyfriend then good for him as he is cute. I hope they are deliriously happy.
