Sarah Palin sits in the front row on Dancing With The Stars, Bristol brings it

Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough – Jive. Dancing is at 2:00

Sarah Palin was in the front row on Dancing With The Stars this week, where her 19 year-old daughter, Bristol, has been holding her own despite claiming she couldn’t dance ahead of last week’s premiere. Sarah was interviewed by host Tom Bergeron (E! has the video) and she seemed really excited to be there, saying “it’s great to see all this courage and joy and exuberance by every dancer, it’s awesome.” When asked how she felt about the judges, she demured “it’s like before a hockey game. You’re not going to chew out the refs before your team is up… you guys are doing great.” Sarah said she was rooting for “Bristol the pistol,” but that all of the dancers were “amazing”.

I’m not a fan of Sarah Palin’s, but her daughter is doing a great job on Dancing With the Stars and of course she’s going to be there to cheer for her. She’s a public personality so she’s going to be interviewed, too. It seems a little hypocritical of the Palins to blast Levi Johnston for seeking fame while Bristol goes on DWTS, but can you blame her? Who wouldn’t want to step in her (dance) shoes? I know I would be on that show in a heartbeat if I was in her position. She can really dance and it’s clear her mom is so proud and happy to support her.

As for this week’s performances, Jennifer Grey owned it yet again this week, with Audrina Patridge coming in second with another solid performance. E! Online has a very good recap if you’re interested and all of the video performances are either linked or shown below. Everyone’s skills were pretty impressive, apart from Michael Bolton who is still clearly struggling. Margaret Cho did pretty well compared to last week, but she needs to work on her facial expressions, which are ridiculous. She’s either sneering or looking elated. It looks like The Situation is hanging in there and is continuing to do well. Bristol did a great job, but she had these weird head bump moves with her partner that seemed awkward. I have to agree with her mom. It’s obvious everyone is giving it their all and you can feel their dedication and excitement. The show is excellent this season!

The Situation and Karina Smirnoff – Quickstep
Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya – Jive
Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer – Quickstep
Margaret Cho & Louis van Amstel – Jive
Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Jive
Michael Bolton & Chelsie Hightower – Jive
Florence Henderson & Corky Ballas – Quickstep
Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke – Jive

Here are the top rated performances, other than Jennifer Gray. (She came in first and her video is at the top)

Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani – Quickstep (Dancing is at 2:15)

Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas – Quickstep

Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer – Quickstep (Dancing is at 2:00)

can’t stand palin however her expression seems to be genuine. like she’s really proud of her daughter.

audrina & jennifer are the best. & kyle 2. brooke burke’s body is fantabulous!

  2. nycmom10024 says:

My favorite moment of Bristol and Mark dance was watching her baby sisters’ reations. You know Bristol is beautiful and amazing in her sisters’ eyes. That was sweet to see.

Jennifer is my inspiration, she looks amazing!

  3. Marjalane says:

It’s kind of bizarre how well everyone is doing so early in the game! well….except Michael Bolton, who was pitiful, but damn! that Bruno was overly nasty in his critique I thought. Bristol Palin DID bring it! She was adorable and that little sister Piper is SO cute-

And as an after thought, I’m already tired of the tears from the contestants! Is that the new pre-requisite for votes?! and since Jennifer Grey cried last week, she had to bring up her cancer this week? Not sure why I don’t like her, but I don’t.

  4. brin says:

    I give them credit….it can’t be easy.

  5. Sabrina says:

Is Bristol under contract to have the word “mother” in the lyrics of every song she dances to?

  6. CandyKay says:

I don’t think Bristol picks the songs she dances to. That’s probably the DWS producers.

  7. OtherChris says:

So, just what as Sarah Palin done to her face. She’s looking odd.

  8. bizzy says:

THAT VIDEO IS MAKING ME NOT HATE SARAH PALIN. KILLS SELF A LOT.

  9. Stronzilla says:

The show is called Dancing with the Stars, correct? Could somebody tell me in what discipline Bristol Palin is considered a star. You can’t be a has been if you’re a never was. Mrs. Brady, crack that chick over the head with your wessonality!

  10. Bodhi says:

Didn’t Scarah get boo’d last night? My mom was SCREAMING with laughter at it! I hate Scarah Palin with the fire of a thousand suns & I’m not a fan of any member of her family, but Bristol is dedicated to this & is working very hard at it & it shows. She must get that from her dad!

  11. TaylorB says:

    Cowbelle,

I agree, the song choices for Bristol so far have made me cringe.

On a different note, I really like Kurt Warner he did a great job plus he is much cuter than I remember.

  12. sandy says:

sorry, still can’t stand fake, fame seeking, talk to much palin.

  13. jen says:

    Awww. Piper is sooo cute!

  14. irena NL says:

I like Sarah a thousand times better than the current pres. She’s a proud mother in a rude audience.

  15. L says:

Man, I still can’t get over how great Jennifer Grey looks at 50. (bad nose job and all) She doesn’t have that neck waddle so many of the over plastic women have, skin looks better than mine, and still has a great body. Seriously.

I’m not a Palin family fan (they are a bunch of famewhores), but it’s easy to see the pride she has in her daughter.

  16. Eileen says:

Wow Jennifer kicked some jive butt!

  17. Leticia says:

Jennifer is 50 yrs old?? She looks better than Demi and Madonna and all of the rest of them.

Bristol would be cuter if she would lose a few pounds. But she seems very nice and normal.

  18. Bodhi says:

At least Bristol has a work ethic & isn’t a quitter like her mom. I don’t see her winning by any stretch, but she is doing better than I certainly expected

  19. Rachel says:

I would in no way categorize her performance as “great.” I wouldn’t even call it “good.” Maybe not bad. It was awkward and stiff. I could not BELIEVE the comments the judges gave her. And the score?! I might not even bother to turn it on again after that. Ridiculous. The only reason she scored so well is because her mother was sitting in the audience.

  20. original kate says:

bodhi, it’s easy to have a “work ethic” when you get 30K for a speech, show up at various hollywood functions to make an “appearance” and dance on TV. a real work ethic would be for bristol to actually work 40 hours a week as the office manager in wasilla she claims to be, not jetting around hollywood.

  21. Persistent Cat says:

I’m with Rachel. I never watch the show and I just watched those clips above. With the exception of Jennifer Grey, none of that was good. At all. I guess because they’re not dancers, the expectatations are supposed to be lowered but that was awful. For both Audrina and Bristol (what kind of a name is that?), their partners just dragged them around the floor. I don’t think there’s any thought process at all in Audrina and Bristol’s head is just so large.

That was all just so many types of terrible.

  22. Bodhi says:

@ original kate ~ I know, I work at a desk in front of a computer 40 hours a week too. I was trying to be gracious… ๐Ÿ™‚

But you have to admit, she has more of one than her “I quit!” momma

  23. original kate says:

@ bodhi, i get your point – yes, bristol has more of a work ethic than sarah palin, i’ll give her that. then again my dogs have a better work ethic than sarah palin, so i’m not sure how much of a compliment it really is!

  24. Janine says:

What show is the writer watching? Bristol is like a wooden doll when dancing, she is bordering on terrible. The judges gave her similar scores to Audrina who was fabulous last night, that was just ridiculous.

  25. Bodhi says:

    ๐Ÿ˜†

  26. guesty says:

@taylorb speaking of kurt warner…finding it so annoying how, after each performance, he rushes over & kisses his wife. he needs to grow a pair already when it comes to her.

  27. hmm(the original) says:

Every person on the show is on the show because of their “celebrity” except for Bristol Palin. The only reason she is on the show is because of the disaster sitting in the front row. Her scores are ridiculously high for her performance (how in the hell did she score higher than Rick Fox?) because they want to keep her around for ratings. DWTS is in danger of letting everyone know that the show is fixed by the producers and perhaps some of their loyal fanbase will be upset enough to tune out.

  28. StopKiddingYourself says:

She’s a proud mother in a rude audience?
Amazing. I’m sure she wasn’t the only one.
    Your point being?

  29. georgiagrl says:

    Puhleez!
That girl is as stiff as a board! Publicity stunt fot the show having her on it, but props for getting up there and trying. ABC gives the participants something in return, so she will be all over ABC/ Disney next year.

  30. lucy2 says:

Jennifer Grey looks awesome and dances well, but in the few clips I’ve seen she always seems a bit…over dramatic?

Those long purple gloves Bristol is wearing remind me of Miss Piggy.

  31. TaylorB says:

    Guesty,

I know… but as he is my DWTS crush this season I have chosen to simply ignore that wife kissing stuff and swoon a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‰
