Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did not sell their New Orleans home

Last week we published an article that originated in Ted Casablanca’s E! Online column that claimed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had sold their home in the French quarter of New Orleans. It seemed like a plausible story considering that the famous family is now renting a huge estate in France and may want to cut expenses. A lot of you mentioned in the comments that Casablanca was not a reliable source and there was no confirmation from the Jolie-Pitts. It turns out you were right and the story was false. The Jolie-Pitts haven’t sold their home.

A representative for Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie denies the rumor that the pair has sold their French Quarter mansion.

“This rumor going around that they’ve sold or are selling their house in New Orleans is not true,” said Trevor Neilson of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. “It’s just made up, as are a lot of things that are said about them.”

The city conveyance office also did not have any record that the couple had sold their New Orleans home, which they bought in January 2007 under the name Mondo Bongo Trust.

The rumor, fomented by celebrity gossip magazines like E! Online, was also dismissed late last week by several prominent real estate brokers who do business in the French Quarter.

I don’t usually read Casablanca’s column because it’s kind of a chore to figure out what he’s saying, but we’ll strive not to put much credence in the confusing things he says in the future.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their four children are holed up in a leased 880 acre estate on the French Rivera that boasts it’s own vineyard, chapel, olive groves, lake and moat. We haven’t seen a picture of them in several weeks and many of you undoubtedly find that a welcome change.

In Touch this week has quotes from Angelina that supposedly reveal that she’s having a touch time. She said in an interview that they don’t source or claim is exclusive, that:

“You always wonder how having a lot of children in a fairly short amount of time is going to affect your life together. You have less time together, you’re always busy, you’re often very tired in the evenings. So it’s something that you either learn to adapt to or you’re going to be in trouble as a couple.

“There are a lot of tough days when you’re exhausted, and you know you can’t collapse because you have so many responsibilities.

“I could spend hours just watching Brad enjoying his time with the kids. Except I’m usually busy changing clothes or getting the kids ready for bed myself.”

[From In Touch, print edition, June 30, 2008]

She probably did say this, because she’s given a lot of interviews lately and In Touch doesn’t credit the quotes to an insider. At least she’s being honest. It can’t be easy with four, soon to be six, kids. Angelina has revealed in earlier interviews that they do have help with the kids but that it’s not overnight.

Brad and Angelina are shown at the Kung Fu Panda premiere on 5/15/08, thanks to WENN.

i didnt believe that they sold nola house because they say they love living there and that intouch interview is not a lie but i s not true too ๐Ÿ˜ฏ they copy past different interviews and made it sound like she is complaining ๐Ÿ˜†

  2. mazy says:

Thanks for the update. I agree with you about TedC, can’t understand much of what he is saying on the rare times I read his blog, and the little I do understand has proven to be mostly inaccurate.

  3. Kevin says:

YEAH!!!!!!But WWJAD (what would Jennifer Anniston do). There, I threw down the lighter fluid,,,who’s got the match.

  4. geronimo says:

Oh no! Retractions all round! So, this must mean that they’re still committed to NO after all? Or, did they, cunningly, sell it but then BUY IT BACK AGAIN just to spite their detractors?

I can see the sweat breaking out on someone’s brow from here.

  5. Clare says:

She thinks four is many, let her wait for six then she will know that raising 5 toddlers in two years while running a very active demanding career in the spotlight is tough.

That said, I don’t for one moment believe they don’t have an army of helpers. Who looks after the kids when she jets off to Iraq? I don’t see Pitt feeding bathing all those kids and putting them to bed.

Why do celebrities like lying about using a nanny? I like Heidi Klum, she moves with her nannies and it does not make her a bad mother.

  6. Larissa says:

maybe they are just distracting us with that story…to take off all the attention from the babies birth, it seems it worked just fine!lol

  7. Leandra says:

It’s really getting ridiculous the rumors and gossip that is put out about celebrities now that is untrue. At least now I don’t believe what I read most of the time. The pregnancies that aren’t, the couples that aren’t. Now Paris is denying she wasn’t even near a pet store that day, never wanted a puppy for a photo shoot or went ballistic and you know what – I believe her!! Just more lies to get readers/viewers.

  8. Syko says:

So we all had that big fight for nothing, huh? ๐Ÿ˜†

  9. geronimo says:

True, Syko, but nevertheless no finer example of how ridiculous and substanceless the Brangelina war actually is. So not entirely wasted!

  10. Bodhi says:

Ah, but what a grand fight it was! ๐Ÿ˜†

I can’t imagine how many laundry loads of tiny white socks are done a day at their place

  11. snappyfish says:

Brad has developed an interest in architecture over the past years. He had a hand in the design of his former home with Aniston. He is a known admirer of Frank Gerhy AIA. He has the project in Nola with the affordable green housing to help revitilize the flood damaged areas.

The house they own in the French Quarter is a gorgeous Second Empire French style home that is on the national historic register. I never thought the home was sold. I would be surprised if they ever sell the home due to his interest in historical preservation and development.

Ted C is seldom correct. Which is why I read this blog.

  12. devilgirl says:

Now I can sleep nights knowing that they didn’t sell their house in NO.

  13. Kaiser/ Hippacrat says:

    Yeah. Called it.
    Casablanca = Bullshit.

  14. I choose me says:

    ๐Ÿ˜† @ Kevin.

Don’t worry Syko, geronimo, another article will come along soon that’ll incite another battle. The War is not over! ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. Mairead says:

Well set our faces to stunned.

Ah come on BADettes. There’s still a bit of milage in this one yet. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

1 – They are being so unAmerican by NOT selling the house, because it shows they have no confidence in the property sector. Therefore they are PUSHING the USA towards a recession!!! Goddam cheese-eating-surrender-monkey-lovers!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

2 – this was all a ploy by Angelina. Because she’s laid low waiting for the Messiahs MKII to arrive, she’s had a bit of spare time to do some extra plotting. SHE got Pax to personally tell this Casablanca bloke to say they were selling – you know. Just for laughs. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

(they couldn’t use Ms. Z, they figured the “quiet one” would be less suspicious *shifty eyes*)

    P.s.
I’m not being anti-American, but it’s a common accusation thrown at them, so I’m using it for effect.

    PPS
And didn’t our Blandley study architecture for a couple of years? So I think he’s probably more indulging in his interest, rather than discovering it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. Bodhi says:

  17. geronimo says:

Hey, BADettes, it’s all good practice for the real thing! We’re just honing our skills!

  18. I'm Amazed says:

My fellow BADettes, you guys kill me! nothing more fun than to be witty in the face of irrationality

  19. someone says:

brad and angelina are both full of shit

  20. Indie says:

Oh, and for the conspiracy theorist up there, there is a new picture of Angie and her daughters and she is still heavily pregnant. I guess that also goes the lies that the babies were born premature and there is something wrong with them.

I can never understand how people get up in the morning and endlessly make up this lies and then you have blogs like this to disseminate the lies, and you have the really mentally unstable come in and ferment their hate based on lies. It sure is an interesting times that we live in.

  21. Nan says:

Of course they didn’t sell their home. Why? They couldn’t. No one can now. You just have to rent it. In real estate, a/the debacle, the bankers are not taking on mortgages to anyone. Yes, they are getting hit w/the real estate problem w/the rest of Americans. Few places, one being Manhattan, are immune.

  22. I'm Amazed says:

So, the theory goes that the poor souls couldn’t event rent their home??????
Rent it so people can tear it apart and sell the pieces? the haters would buy it so no one else could, others to profit and idolatry. Interesting. I guess it’s considered getting a piece of the action.
I thought that the US government had facilitated something like 75 Billions to the banks to ease up their tight policies?. Of course, if you have bad credit, not much can be done.

  23. Kevin says:

Man!!! I never noticed,,,look at the lifts on Bradley’s shoes!!! Bitch is barely as tall as morticia,,,I mean skankalina,,,,I mean angie baby !!! I didn’t know bitch was so vertically challenged. So in a steel cage death match…who wins? Tommy girl, Gonadley Bradley or my boy studly Verne Troyer (if you are getting laid with his gear you are, in fact a stud)? Does anyone beside myself miss MTV’s celebrity death match?
