Mariah Carey’s hilariously repetitive couch-lounging six hour turn on HSN

Mariah Carey was on HSN on Monday shilling her jewelry, perfume, Christmas album and shoes for a whopping six hours. A blogger named FourFour made a highlights video of Mariah’s appearance, and she basically repeated the same themes over and over. It was so damn funny.

Mariah’s talking points, which she kept revisiting, include:
– She is pregnant and tired
– Her hands are swollen from being pregnant
– She is pregnant and hypersensitive to smells and tastes
– She used to hate perfume and only uses a spritz
– Her perfume spritzing technique involves spraying it, walking into the lingering mist, and doing a “diva turn”
– She collects antique and vintage perfume bottles
– She loves the holidays
– Her perfume is an outlet for her creativity, like her music
– Her perfumers were listening to her music when they created her fragrance
– She wrote “All I Want for Christmas is You” and it’s not a vintage song!
– Her response to all fans is “Aww”

Also, Mariah said “KKLB” to Nick over the phone but wouldn’t tell what it stood for.

Yes Mariah basically said the same things over and over again, but what else is she supposed to talk about for six hours? I found it all kind of sweet. Like she’s a diva, she has her interests, and we’re supposed to listen and nod. She’s like an elderly great aunt who always tells the same stories but you smile and look her in the eye out of respect and say “yes” while you think about something else. This seems to be Mariah’s tactic for dealing with fans as well.

Mariah also gave an interview to Extra yesterday, (video below) in which she talked about her pregnancy (she’s tired, she’s not going to say whether she’s having twins or the gender of the baby/ies), her holiday plans (she’s not going to Aspen as usual due to the elevation, but wherever she goes there has to be snow) and her Thanksgiving (she cooked corn and potatoes and they were the best parts of a meal that was undoubtedly prepared by multiple gourmet chefs). She also promoted her line with HSN and – surprise! – repeated one of her talking points “I couldn’t even cut this ring off if I tried.”

sowwy but…where’s the bump?? she just looks overweight & really bloated imo.

that was beyond ridiculous. kind of like a mix of jessica simpson & kathie lee gifford. ha.

  2. Roma says:

I can’t believe it. I actually like Mariah Carey now that she’s pregnant.

I just realized… it’s because she’s finally wearing age appropriate clothes!

  3. Samigirl says:

I’m a little upset that she never mentioned she was pregnant 🙁
    😛

  4. redlips says:

    She makes me tired….

  5. aenflex says:

    Well fuck me.

  6. mel says:

@Roma me too. For some reason she seems less of a diva.

  7. JustBored says:

Has anybody seen the duet between her and her mother? It’s a Christmas song, gave me chills. Also, she is clearly pregnant in the video for that song.

  8. filthycute says:

    LOL, she’s adorable.

  9. filthycute says:

And the host saying “You are WITH child”…LOL! Who is she, the Virgin Mary? Please.

  10. Frenchie says:

“they were actually listening to my voice for inspiration”… barf
Mariah “I don’t know if I’ve said it before” you are HUGE diva

  11. Courtney says:

leave the woman alone she’s excited about being a mom. obviously this not being her first pregnancy but first successful one it’s going to show sooner. besides Come All Ye Faithful was probably one of the last songs recorded for the CD in August so she was about 2 months along at that point and she carries beautifully by the way

  12. Lola7 says:

She gives me morning sickness! Annoying and fake as hell! What a drama queen. Ugh!

  13. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

@aenflex…… That’s an awesome response!!!! LOL

  14. Lynda says:

I don’t know why but I kinda like her, though she didn’t do anything before for me. She is like any other pregnant woman…babybabybaby things to talk about.

  15. Ron says:

I happened to see some of this flipping through the channels yesterday and watched for about 5 minutes and thought, this is going to be on The Soup. Unintentionally funny.

  16. Courtney says:

how rude to make a joke like that. she went through a lot of heartache to acheive her dream of becoming a mom and shouldn’t be critized for being excited that the pregnancy is going smoothly. would you have done the same thing to Princess Grace when she was pregnant with princess Stephanie in 1964 after having gone through 8 miscarriages between 1960 & 62 me thinks not. what makes Mariah so different she views this child as a miracle as all children should be but especially after a loss or losses as Grace and Rainier did for stephanie. I wonder if they’ll go by the Catholic tradition and give their Child/Children double middle names as for example Theo Dahl’s are Matthew & Roald after his father or Beckett Willis’s are Robert & Lee after his maternal grandfather. though Theo is the only one of Roald Dahl & Patricia Neal’s five children to have double middle name his 4 sisters 2 older 2 younger each only have one middle name right : Olivia’s was twenty Chantal later renamed Tessa’s is Sophia, Ophelia’s is Magedelina after their paternal grandmother and Lucy’s is their mothers last name Neal

  17. jover says:

Not only is she annoying and fake as hell lola7, she, like most celebs is a total sellout. It cracks me up that all these singers/rockers/rappers pose as cool, hip, and edgy then they turn up shilling all sorts of crap and still try to act like they have street cred. What sellouts. Keith Richards doing Louis Vuitton. Please. Oh for the days of Jimi and Janis – great, authentic and not corporate sellouts. Btw, Mariah who doesn’t even compare to Janis turned up a few months ago singing at a WalMart stockholders convention. Her music is as useless as she is, End of rant.

  18. fknight says:

    okay, yes that was hilarious

  19. sassy says:

    I predict: She’s having a girl. She’s pregnant everywhere!

  20. Jeri says:

She used to annoy me but now I get a kick out of her. She’s an original and doesn’t give a sh-t what you (or anyone) might think.

If she doesn’t feel like walking she’ll have her staff carry her from point A to point B. Go Mariah Go!

  21. Grace says:

@Courtney: What the hell? Although I agree that her weight shouldn’t be made fun of right now, your rambling has confused the living shit out of me.

  22. Frankly says:

@Grace – Agreed. I think someone has been drinking Mariah’s perfume.

  23. Liana says:

I wonder if they’ll go by the Catholic tradition and give their Child/Children double middle names
    **************

That’s not a Catholic tradition. We have a middle name and a confirmation name, but we don’t get the confirmation name until we are… um… confirmed. I was born Liana Marie and when I was confirmed I became Liana Marie Claire.

And wait, Mariah Carey is PREGNANT? I hadn’t heard.

  24. lunamarysol says:

I’m just so glad that she’s finally covered up, her usual teensy skirts and clingy outfits always looked so bad, tacky and uncomfortable.

  25. Courtney says:

geesh those were only examples and Theo came to mind because his mother is one of my all time favorite actresses. not true some catholics do the double middle name thing then a comfirmation name. where have you been she and Nick announced the pregnancy on access hollywood last month. sometimes I can’t help being long winded especially when I’m really excited about something like I am her becoming a mother

  26. Emily says:

@Courtney, I believe Liana was being sarcastic. Also, there’s nothing wrong with being long winded, but punctuation is a must.

  27. Liana says:

not true some catholics do the double middle name thing then a comfirmation name.
    **********

Been Catholic all my life. If it’s any kind of a tradition, it’s not religious in nature.

And yeah, sometimes sarcasm is entirely too wasted on the undeserving.

  28. Mouring the Death of Music says:

guesty, some women don’t have the overly obvious bump that others do while pregnant.
