Chelsea Handler was a guest on The Tonight Show last night. She was promoting her E! show and she made a lot of lame jokes, including some about race, as is typical for her. She brought up the fact that she was dating 50 cent by quipping that she would have brought him with her on vacation, only he can’t swim. Here’s part of what she told Jay, thanks to E! You can watch her interview in two parts on Hulu and a segment is above.
On her vacation with Jennifer Aniston
“She was sweet enough to take me on vacation with her. I was trying not to get photographed next to her in a bathing suit, for obvious reasons,” Chelsea said Tuesday on The Tonight Show. “So I did a lot of stuff on my own.”Like drink?
“It’s not even cute! I was probably trying to bend over and pick up a margarita,” Chelsea lambasted Jay Leno as he insisted upon cutting to a shot of the funnylady’s bikini-clad butt. “You know how I feel about my margaritas, Jay!”
But because she loves beach vacations, it might be a while before she’s ever caught sipping margaritas with 50 Cent.
She brings up 50 Cent without any prompting from Jay
“I can’t bring 50 Cent with me, ’cause he’s not a strong swimmer,” she joked, adding that her friend has not met her family. Because, as she pointed out again, he’s just her friend.“It’s Fiddy Cent, isn’t it?” Jay asked.
“I don’t know, I call him Curtis when we’re having sex,” Chelsea deadpanned. “No, but he does have a real name. His name is Curtis. Curtis…I don’t know, I should find out.”
Jay also asked Chelsea about her brief relationship with animal expert Dave Salmoni.
“We just did not have anything else to talk about,” she laughed. “No, he’s a really nice guy…It was a short relationship, you know, in and out.”

Was it racist to say that 50 is “not a strong swimmer?” She said it and then looked to the audience for laughs, so I do think she meant it as a joke about his race. Then she made another lame joke after the break that she was “looking over at your band and noticed there are hardly any white guys. They must have heard I was coming. Thank you. Oh there you are, hi whitey!”
This woman is not funny, she’s rude and she makes stupid jokes about race all the time. Somehow she still has an E! talk show though, and she’s friends with Jennifer Aniston. What do they say about the company you keep? I hope Jay had her on due to a last minute cancellation.
I think that’s just part of her “thing.” it works for Lisa Lampinelli. She a little offensive and off-color, but it is comedy after all. Or maybe I feel a kindred connection because we’re such terrible boozers.
She is very rude, I don’t care for her either. She seems very cold…
I agree about the comapany you keep. JA seems to enjoy the company of some slimy people. CH and John Mayer are two examples. I know people always say how nice and sweet Jennifer seems, but how could she enjoy the likes of Chelsea who comes across as just plain bitter, and Jen went back to Mayer twice who’s a major douche.
It’s not even the racist jokes that bother me, it’s the pathetic way she tries so hard to deliver, stupid unfunny puns. Watching her monologue at the beginning of her show is so painful, I have to turn it off even if I’m not paying attention.
I can’t stand her. And her racist “jokes” are offensive and stupid.

I don’t know about her “race” jokes but I do like people who are so “non-race” oriented or “race unconscious” that they make off handed race jokes. Mr. King had it right in saying we are all to be judged only by the content of our character.
Against my better judgement I watched part of her show last night and she was SO nasty to Joe Koi! She just couldn’t have been uglier and when they cut to break she jumped off the stage and stomped off- it was pathetic. I used to think she was funny, but now she’s just a bitter old bitch. A way older than 35 bitter, old bitch.
I wouldn’t want to sit/stand/lounge next to Aniston in a bikini, either.
but I also wouldn’t want to go on vacation with Handler…
Well, I actually kind of like her and find her funny. Some of her jokes are a little stale but oh well.
She’s not funny. Period.
I get an icky uncomfortable feeling watching her.
And she is not 35. No way in hell. 40 if she’s a day.

Her comedy is not the best, but it is far from the worst as well.
And for having a show on E!, well she got it by sleeping with the head honcho, a fact she makes light of all the time when they were dating. Her ratings got her the extension.
After the multi year extension they split.
Joi Koy and her have been having this same argument for months now, she accuses him of being gay, he accuses her of being a drunk slut. And so forth.
I think Joi lets it bother him a bit too much and she sees it and plays on it.
Although the show last night where she dissed him for not being able to sell out a 200 seat venue? I am surprised, i thought he was better then that. On the show he isn’t the best comedienne on the show, that goes to John Capurilo (-2 pts spelling). But he is funnier then many of the other comics she has on there as well.

She always picks on the Asians or half-Asians and that bothers me. I know it is silly but I hate when she picks on the guy from the E-News (can’t think of his name at the moment, but he is part black and Asian) about him sucking up to celebs and that is exactly what she does. Her monologue about dolphins was just plain stupid. My favorite comediennes are the women she has on the show and those two brothers who look like twins can’t think of their names either.

I agree that she’s simply not funny. I’ve never bothered with her show, but I remember her failed attempts at humor on “Best Week Ever.” God, she was awful. She would deliver these lame, deadpan lines and you could practically hear the crickets chirping after the fact. It was painful to watch.
I like her in the same way that I like Margaret Cho and Lisa Lampanelli. Different strokes, I guess.
I think she’s pretty funny, and I don’t really care about the “insensitive” jokes. Comedians of all races and genders have been making those type jokes forever, so that just isn’t a biggie to me.
Her show is pretty funny, but her books are hilarious.

Could it be she is just making fun of a man not being able to swim? I used to watch her (until she just annoyed me so much I had to stop) and she always made fun of a white guy that worked in her studio for not being able to dive. I guess that was anti-redheaded white boy?
I’ve always seen her humor as a parody of racist humor. She intends it to not make sense because real racist humor does not make sense. Does that make sense? Yes, it is hard to understand, but it does make me think, so I do like her. We need to think about what we say…and we need to think about what we think–that is where racism begins.
I’ve watched her show a few times and had a chuckle every now and then, but overall, I don’t think she’s funny.

I don’t mind “off color” humor once in a while but it’s her only shtick. If a black person or asian person walks into a room, or is the topic of conversation, I KNOW she will make a racist joke … I’ve never seen her abstain, not once. It just reeks of trying too hard …
I am in the minority here, but I love her! I like her sarcastic wit and I don’t think her “racist” jokes are as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Been a fan for years and would love to have been on vacation with her and JA. Love them both! Oh, and if she were a racist she wouldn’t be boning a black man, so everyone chill out…Just sayin’

I love dark humor, and have watched her show several times waiting for her to actually demonstrate some. She’s simply a mean bitch. Her panels can be hilarious, but her — not so much. Maybe her books are funny (haven’t read ’em, wouldn’t know) but her monologues and banter suck.

gabby, colour has everything to do w/swimming, just ask the 9 adults who had to stand by and watch their 5 kids drown this past summer. These 2 black families were @ a BBQ on the river bank and no one in either family could swim, the kids fell into deep water just yards from shore and all died because no knew how to swim. I didn’t believe there was a racial gap in swimming, but it’s huge, check it out online.
