Jessica Alba debuts baby Honor in OK! Says she had silent birth

Jessica Alba and her five week old baby, Honor, appear on the cover of this week’s OK! Magazine. In the accompanying interview Alba talks about her birth experience, calling it “zen,” and says she didn’t scream and was calm the whole time. She also calls her baby a “miracle” and talks of her in spiritual terms, saying it’s like “she’s connected to the other world.” That’s poetic and I wouldn’t expect to hear that from her. Alba has started gradually exercising to shed the baby weight, and says she’s “doing it slow” and trying to eat healthy.

“I didn’t scream,” Jessica tells OK! in an exclusive interview and photoshoot. “It was really Zen.” And Cash could only marvel at his wife’s quiet strength when she gave birth. “She didn’t make a sound,” he says. “It was amazing.”

Here, the proud pair open their door exclusively to OK!, introducing the adorable Honor Marie Warren.

“It hasn’t totally sunk in,” Jessica reveals to OK!. “She dreams, she smiles, and coos and does all these things, but she hasn’t seen enough of the world yet to understand any of that stuff. So I still feel like she’s connected to the other world, or something. There’s no other way to explain it. It’s a miracle.”

The Love Guru star tells OK! that she had natural birth. “The labor was more like meditation,” she says. “I did yoga breathing. I was focused.”

Jessica, who tells OK! she ate “a lot of soul food” in the weeks following Honor’s birth, says she’s just now starting to shed the pregnancy pounds.

“I started working out last Thursday, but for 20 minutes. I do cardio on my own. I’m doing it slow,” she says. “Now I’m starting to eat more healthy. Because after working out, having fried chicken and mashed potatoes is a little counteractive.”

So who does Honor look more like?

“She looks like a girl version of me,” Cash says. “She has my nose, my eyebrows and my…”

“Forehead and dimples,” Jessica finishes, adding, “She has my mouth when I was a baby. And my ears.”

“Maybe Honor is a mixture,” Cash reconsiders. “I want her to look like me, because a daughter looking like Jessica, I’d kill myself!”

[From OK! Magazine]

That’s cute that Cash says he’d be upset if their daughter is too beautiful. He doesn’t have a lot of say in the matter, and their baby sure is cute.

In Touch reports this week that Alba is working hard to lose weight so that she can be fit for a second larger wedding celebration with Cash. Jessica has reportedly lost 15 pounds but wants to get slimmer before they have a big party. The two were married in late May at the Beverly Hills courthouse and they didn’t even release a photo. Alba was said to have been reluctant to sell her baby’s first public pictures, but was eventually convinced by OK!, which reportedly paid $1.5 million for the photoshoot and another set of photos of one of Honor’s holidays. I hope it’s Halloween and they dress her up all cute.

Reluctant to sell the pictures????, then was convinced….., hmmmm how rich, let me guess.

Jessica: I will never sell my babies pictures for that amount

    Jessica: OK
    🙄

The baby is beautiful, but she sure looks like daddy – Congrats to the parents. I know there are a lot of folks who don’t like Jessica Alba for one reason or another, but I think she’s beautiful and just plain adorable. Best wishes for the three of them to have a happy, healthy life.

  3. Kolby says:

Another OK cover, another over made-up mom. Who is their makeup artist and why does he/she still have a job?

  4. Anni says:

she´s cute! i love babies. dang.

  5. Ainslee says:

I admire her because unlike a lot of other celebrity babies she has actually MARRIED the baby daddy. It shows she wants to be a good role model for her child. I don’t think there was that much air brushing as Jessica is only 27 so it’s not like they were trying to get rid of wrinkles and she has lost a lot of weight just recently.

  6. Syko says:

    Gorgeous baby!

  7. daisy424 says:

Look at all that hair Honor has, what a beautiful baby girl!

  8. countrybabe says:

Alba married cash. News to me. But she is pretty, the most beautiful celebrity baby I’ve seen this year so far. She definitely looks ethnic, a mix of both parents.

  9. Kaiser/ Hippacrat says:

Pretty little girl, but it looks like OK airbrushed the hell out of Alba. Or is that the way her skin looks naturally?!?!

    Anyway, congrats to them. 🙂

  10. breederina says:

That is one gorgeous baby. Happiness and health to the new family.

  11. Amy says:

Cute baby, though I hate it when celebs make a big deal about talking about losing the baby weight right away! She should be nursing and taking care of the baby now, not obsessing about fitting back into the skinny jeans.

  12. Carrie says:

Agree Syko, just gorgeous. Want one.

  13. Jenna says:

She really does look like Cash from the one picture. Nice.

  14. Kolby says:

Amy – if I recall correctly, Alba often makes statements about her weight, and in interviews given during her pregnancy, she more than once expressed concerns about gaining too much weight and being able to take it off right away. It’s quite possible she has some issues with it.

  15. Rose says:

    Cute baby.

  16. Bodhi says:

“Love Guru star”? I’m sure she wants to be remembered for that!! 😆

The baby is a cutie, thats for sure!

Gorgeous pics and cute quotes. Silent birth=epidural. At least I hope so for her sake. But to be thinking about staying quiet while laboring to get a baby out is ridiculous. Whoever invented this notion of “silent birth” is undoubtedly a man. Is that some Scientology thing?

  18. Kelly says:

Cute baby. But just because she got pregnant doesn’t mean she should get married. That’s not a good reason in my opinion. It might be good for the baby initially but if the baby was the only reason they got married then it doesn’t look like their relationship has much of a foundation.

  19. Kevin says:

Thanks Trillion. Was gonna ask what a silent birth was. Didn’t know if it meant that no one in the room spoke, or she just didn’t grunt while pushing or if they stuffed a trumpet mute up her ass to silence the pushing poofs. I don’t think any of our moms did anything like that and most of us aren’t any worse for the wear.

  20. Megan says:

Was really looking forward to seeing Honor! She’s really beautiful, and Jessica looks great.

  21. lanette says:

    she too too cute!!!!cuddly

  22. Sue says:

Hope the baby was brown enough for her.

  23. Moore says:

She didn’t say she had the scientology kind of silent birth just that she got through it by breathing which is very possible. anyways, very cute baby.

  24. Jag says:

She has such a pretty smile that it’s weird to not see her smiling with her own baby…

    As for Honor, she’s adorable.

  25. Betsy says:

omg, jessica’s baby is soo cute. 🙂

  26. Ray says:

To clarify, silent birth in Scientology focuses on “spoken” words. Yes, sounds should be limited for the sake of mommy and baby but mommy is allowed to express pain. In essence, silent birth in Scientology requires that all those in attendance, dad, doctors, relative find nonverbal alternatives to communication. As long as mommy doesn’t blurt out profanities and the like to express pain, she may express pain as need be. As quoted from silentbirth.org
“What exactly is a silent birth?

This is all about providing the best possible environment for the birthing mother and her new baby.

Silent births are labor and delivery done in a calm and loving environment. This means everyone attending the birth should refrain from spoken words as much as possible. Chatty doctors and nurses, shouts to “PUSH, PUSH” and loud or laughing remarks to husbands are the types of noises that are meant to be avoided.”
