I don’t think I’m alone when I say that Glee is best when it focuses on the kids and the plot instead of pandering to whatever guest star they have. The Gwyneth Paltrow episode was better than the Britney one at least, but it still seemed so focused on making Gwyneth out to be this cool actress who spoke Spanish without an accent and was down with the ‘teens. It’s a distraction when they focus on the guest star, but when the guest star is as popular as Gwyneth it leads to high ratings for the show. The Glee episode on which Gwyneth appeared, The Substitute, is currently the most viewed show this month on Hulu. Gwyneth told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos that she signed up to do two shows for Glee and will be reprising her role as Holly Holiday.

Can I say something snarky? (Why am I asking permission like I won’t do it anyway?) Gwyneth needs some foundation. Her complexion is too ruddy, and I know because I have similar coloring and it’s a bitch to find foundation that flatters. (Damn you, Prescriptives, for going out of business.) However, I wouldn’t do a TV interview without some, and I’d also put some decent mascara on. Gwynnie is probably cultivating her “down home” image in advance of her country movie – she’s got the messy hair going too. I guess I can’t hate on her for looking less polished, but it does bug me that she’s coming back to Glee. They need to bring back Neil Patrick Harris. Now he’s a guest star that adds instead of taking away. I have to give it to Gwyneth though, she can sing and she adds something too. Maybe next time I’ll be able to focus on the show instead of Goop and her superiority.
NPH was the BEST guest tar to date! Though I liked the girl that Rachel sent to the crack house-forgot her name. But she’s was a student.
SO excited! Gwyneth was amazing in Glee. I agree that, generally, the guest stars take away from the show but not in this case.

@Original Kate- I thought the exact same thing. Lol! But the fact remains, she was really very good on Glee. And I didn’t think the show pandered to her at all. Her character was quirky, fun and over the top, which is what the show is all about.

@Original Kate: Actually, they are friends. They both worked on “Running with Scissors” together in 2005/6. Kristin Chenoweth was also in “Running with Scissors” so that’s probably how she got the “Glee” hookup, too.
She didn’t bother me on Glee. Uncle Jessie bothers me. He’s not believable as a dentist and I don’t think he’s a very good actor. I hate it when he’s on.
I’d vote for NPH again before Gwenyth. She was good on the show, for the most part, but I just still find her so annoying.
The only thing on planet Earth more irritating than Glee is Gwyneth Paltrow, so this makes perfect sense to me.
Puleez! She is so boring. Her new movie is a bomb so is trying to salvage it with this farce that she can sing. Go back to England with your chum Madonna and pretend you are both “hot”.

Oh, so she is ‘old friends’ with Ryan Murphy. This woman claims to be ‘friends’ with everyone- Jake Gyllenhall and Taylor Swift (she introduced them), Madonna (she introduced her to that weird looking personal trainer), Oprah, the list goes on and on. She is insufferable. Ugh
i hated her on glee. i don’t really ever like her but i really hated her on glee. for an oscar winning actress i thought her performance really sucked. and i hate guest star episodes. i’m pretty much done with glee though. it’s gotten quite boring i think.

For reasons I can’t quite articulate I kind of like her, but not on Glee. I found her Glee performance painful.
@Obvious – ITA, and even better in my opinion, was the guest writer, Joss Whedon. The master of making a great episode. NPH + Whedon was a .. “Dream” come true. (haha, get it?)
