Last week we reported on a story that Madonna’s health was suffering from the stress of her “emotional affair” with Alex Rodriguez and the resulting fallout on her marriage.
The gossip has really been insane – partly because of the novelty factor (who the hell knew Madonna and A-Rod even knew each other?), how many people it ended up involving, and the way it managed to span at least three countries. You can argue whether or not Madge brought it on herself, but it seems pretty clear that she’s suffering from a good deal of stress as a result.
Madonna left the Kabbalah Center in New York City on Friday night looking “tired” as WENN kindly put it – and “looking borderline human,” as TMZ less charitably phrased it. Though I’m going to have to admit that TMZ’s description seems a little more accurate.
My first reaction was wondering if Madonna got terrible plastic surgery because her cheekbones are so prominent. But she’s been consistently photographed for the last several ways, so that’s nearly impossible. Looking at her closely, it seems pretty clear that Madge has lost some weight – nearly all of it in her face.

Her huge cheek implants looked OKish as long as she had some facial fat to surround them. Now that fat is gone, it looks just freakish.
A stunt. Paltrow did this no makeup look a few weeks back. Look at all the attention she got for a day. Sure Madonna lost weight but the dark cheek contour is obvious. You’ll see, just when it is time to tour and hopefully break records, all of a sudden she’ll look fabulous! She’ll share her revival ‘secret’ and try to sell us on that. Even her roots are fake. They are always the same length. You never see the roots getting done and then watch them grow out. She’s the best marketer out there. If she really looked this sick and tired she wouldn’t let herself be seen or photographed like this. Not with all of her money. And with all of her money she wouldn’t be sporting dark roots on a single-color dye job. Question anything this person tries to portray herself as.
Love how they photoshopped her right arm. They forgot the sleeve, though. Of course, her arm and face not consistant going in the chapel as it is exiting a mere few hours later.
JayBird, you believe this story? Since I am up, I will expose this for what it is. I’ve been doing this for the last few years. She’s wearing makeup, concealer and mineral powder brushed over. 98% of people with her coloring over 30, the skin around eyes is always a different shade than the rest of their face. She’s wearing white pearly highlighter under her brows & atop her cheekbone ridge and dark contour under the apples. She’s probably using a lash tint and a tiny bit of eyeliner on the top lid. Just don’t do anything to your lips & you too can appear to be all natural. Pfft!
She will feel much better if she put on a little weight. I can’t imagine calling her an adulterer can cause that much stress. She is not big on conscience. I hope she slows down. That is why I love Tom Cruise, all the sleeze has never affected his health.

I agree she’s had something done to her cheeks. The stress and maybe losing some weight has made the work she’s had done appear more obvious. Let’s face it, she looks like hell in these pictures.
And the arms!….the arms!….aaaaargh! Whenever I see them I think of this plastic toy raptor with swivelling arms that my son played with when he was little.
Her left arm looks all especially freaky because it’s being pushed out by the bag she has over her left shoulder.
Her face looks puffy and weird, different than when she went into the center, probably because she’s been crying. I cry in church sometimes. She has a lot to cry about right now.
That said, I believe this is yet another publicity stunt. Pharrell just stated recently that he admired her most for her “ability to manipulate a rumor” (or something like that). Perhaps this was one rumor that got spun way beyond her control and now she’s truly suffering as a result.
Personally, I never saw her as a very feeling person, so I’m not sure she is suffering, only continuing to manipulate.
Be nice, people. It’s hard to look good when you’re looking for those pesky Hobbit-ses and the precious. Damn you, Frodo!
@c I think you’re right about the implants, she was trying to cover up her bruised eyes with big sunglasses a while back.
Agree with Daisyfly, you would think she could afford the best surgeon, but I think her weight loss accentuates the implants.
I don’t worry about Madonna, she always comes out ‘on top’, so to speak. 😆

She has no cheek implants! it’s only weight loss, she is definitely depressed because of all the bad press she has received. She probably thought no one would find out, now she has to deal with the guilt of having broken a family with kids and her own marriage. And on top of all that, poor Lourdes must be suffering all the embarassment.

1-888-2CONFESS is not a Catholic hotline. It was/is a promotional phone number that fans (Hell, anyone) could call and leave messages (“confessions”) on to be posted on Madonna’s website. It was launched to coincide with her last album “Confessions on a Dance Floor” which was actually a really good album, unlike the crap she’s churned out this time, imo.
I think even she realizes that this newest album was crap, hence the stirring up of all the over-the-top, in-your-face, incessant, TMI drama. I for one minute don’t buy that “stress is affecting [her] health.” Everyone seems so quick to forget that this woman is one of if not THE best media manipulator of the last twenty years. It’s all illusion: everything we see is what she wants us to see. Choosing to believe it, however, is another story.

I agree with A.J. Lourdes is ELEVEN years old. You know where all this obsession with looks and aging first comes from? The constant criticism women get starting when they are just CHILDREN. They internalize it and turn it on themselves and think they have to go broke spending money on expensive useless treatments and even surgeries.
So leave the kid the hell alone. She’s a fucking kid. My 13 year old daughter has tons of freckles, should I take her posthaste to a cosmetic surgery in the mall so she can get them bleached off? Hell no. She’s gorgeous the way she is. And she loves her freckles. I’m glad. They are part of who she is.

We see Madonna without makeup all the time, she only wears it when on the carpet or out for dinner with Guy, otherwise after working out or at the airport I recall seeing the photos and wondering why she didn’t use even a little powder or brush her hair, something!
I’m hoping these pics are photoshopped because she doesn’t look well. The cheek implants are obscene as are her arms.

Publicity stunt– to garner sympathy after these ‘unfavorable’ remarks are circulating about her- from her brothers book and her marriage.
SHe probably decided to go out with no makeup and to not smile, just to get some publicity and some people more towards her side.

I am fed up with all the shame and embarrasment people have- over their own bodies. Come on, all you women and men ALSO have eyebrows, and armpit hair, and facial hair etc– are you really that ashamed and disgusted by your own bodies that when you see the same on someone else you have to smash it down that badly?
Lourdes is amazingly gorgeous- she;ll probably grrom herself as she pleases eventually, but she is only 11 and theres too much pressure as is for little girls to make themselves objects too early on, so this is actually a refreshign sight!
I agree that the arms (and maybe the cheeks?) were photoshopped–and sloppily, at that. I agree, too, that everything she does seems to be a publicity stunt. And I think her brother is guilty of the same.

Weirdly, I like how her face looks SANS makeup better than how it has recently looked on the red carpet. I have to say, I’ve never been of an age where Madonna was really ‘hot’ (I’m in my early 20s) but lately, she’s just…disturbing. Photoshopped or not, I really…really…REALLY do not want to see an emaciated, desperate-looking 50-year-old woman thrusting her crotch to all and sundry. And, to counteract possible arguments that I am ‘ageist’, I wouldn’t want to see a desperate 20-something woman doing the same either!

She had a bunch of work done in the last couple of years including tightening of her jaw line, a little eye work and this cheek augmentation which is the only thing that seems a little overdone. It may just be a non permanent filler in which case it will be reabsorbed over time.

The French have a word for it– “douche bag” Of course it is an instrument of cleansing, but in American slang (in its original sense) it meant an older woman who has seen too much action–in a more modern sense it would mean a ‘jerk’.
I have been thinking Modona looked like an older woman trying to pass for 50, which isn’t that awfully old when you boil it down. But those arms, even with their viable stringy sinew have the look of a much older woman.
I understand the addictive drug that fame is and after you have honed your craft to a fine science it must be hard to say I am going to retire from performing, but that would be the classy thing for this woman to do, or else she will just turn herself into a freak show.
If she cared about children and using her fame to do good works, she could be a representative for Unesco or something, and still have a certain amount of fame and press attention, rather than try to compete with a bunch of nubile 20 year olds in the music business. In truth her singing abilities were never anything to write home about. She can’t act really, this was never her gift. A well timed retirement and the realization that time leaves its indelible mark on us all would be something this woman should learn. It is sad I know, but the way of all flesh.

I am actually worried it might be something more serious with Madonna. I could be wrong with this .. but I do believe her Mom was about this age when she was diagnosed and died form Cancer. [Ooops.. no her Mom was only 30 … however .. still a worry.]
If she doesn’t have it now .. look for that diagnosis at some point. Sadly – as I know from my family – it is genetic, the predisposition to certain types of Cancer. And stress .. that only makes it worse. 🙁

Ok, someone said she didn’t have makeup on and that makes a difference….errrrrrrrr, I’m sorry, but when I wake up in the morning and I have my hair looking like I might had been attacked by tiny monsters that made nests in my hair, AND no makeup to show….I could NEVER look this bad.
