Amy Winehouse smashes hand on drunken night out

After laying relatively low for a little bit, Amy Winehouse was back to her old tricks this weekend. And by laying low, I mean she spent a week or two just getting drunk and/or high every night, but didn’t do anything else noteworthy. But this weekend Amy saw fit to take it up a notch and make everyone wonder if she’s got an unchecked case of bipolar disorder to go along with her other issues.

Amy’s evening started out by spraying some fans with a hose (supposedly playfully), then running around a building really fast a couple of times, collapsing in exhaustion, and then getting into a one-sided fight with a security fence. So you know, just a regular night for most of us.

She began the night in high spirits, squirting water with a high-powered jet from her garage at fans gathered outside her Camden, north London, home shortly before 1am. About half an hour later she fancied a trip to live music bar Stables at Camden’s Proud Galleries. She started running to the club with a mystery pal, telling photographers she was going to take them on a trip round the back streets.

She also told them – bizarrely – their mothers would like her because ‘it kept it interesting’. The 24-year-old’s behaviour then became more erratic over the next few hours. Before she got to the club she slumped down outside a shop, pushing her security guard away. The star then jumped up to slam her fist into the shop’s metal security blind… Amy eventually got to the Stables but stayed only for about 30 minutes before leaving via the black door.

She arrived home in a distraught, tearful state with a black coat over her head and red marks on her face.

[From The Daily Mail]

What mother wouldn’t love Amy Winehouse? When I think of my hypothetical children, I can imagine no one I’d rather them end up with than someone like Amy Winehouse. If they settled for someone with a mere drinking problem I’d be pretty disappointed, to be frank. But if they could at least find someone battling some major mental illness or even just a good emotional disturbance, I’d be pretty satisfied.

It’s really hard to pick out the most bizarre moment from Amy’s evening. Although you could really say that about her life in general. I think it’s pretty clear that she’s not just fighting a very losing battle against addiction, but some sort of mental illness as well.

  3. bros says:

i dont even think she passes environmental standards at this point, i mean, the girl is a walking health/hygeine hazard. i feel bad for her even though this is largely her doing. why hasnt her face healed yet? shes been on antibiotics for months now, but I doubt she is good about taking them regularly.

  4. Alexis says:

    Oh Mother of Mercy!

  5. Bodhi says:

*shakes head* I listed to her CD this weekend & I just don’t understand how someone with so much promise & talent has so sprialed downward so publicly & so fast.

    What a waste

  6. ri23 says:

She looks great. I’ve got a really good feeling about her. I’m sure nothing will go wrong.

  7. duda says:

I want to run her thru a do it yourself carwash, and use the scrubby brush and wash her up and then high spray her off. sure she might lose a few layers of skin, but i need to see some clean on her. she just looks soooo filthy, the wig is a rat mat mess.. oh lord

  8. heehee says:

Alot of alcoholics/addicts are mistakenly labeled or diagnosed as bipolar. Someone I know, for example. Its a ‘quick n easy’ way to treat the outward manifestation of whats going on inside, thats too complex or scary for most people to want to know about or deal with. (take the addicts themselves, for example!) But even on a simpler note, being high on whatever will not lead to Honor Student behavior… so Amy herself is just fine- her addiction(s) are the problems here.

  9. lulu says:

hee hee hee… those pics are hilarious. She is such a hoot!

  10. heehee says:

An ps my then drunk “bipolar” friend also mashed his hand into a wall, and then into someone elses face the next day. Thankfully he’s been thru detox and is now waiting for a bed in rehab. 🙂
The difference after detox was truly night vs. day- theres not a single thing wrong with his mental health at all; its just being under the influence.

  11. Syko says:

If I saw her on the street downtown, I’d be frightened of her. She should be the poster child for some anti-drugs organizations.

  12. CelebitchyFAN says:

I realize this is probably very vain of me to say considering her current condition of health and what have you, but someone go take those damn shoes away from her and burn them!!! They have been through so much hell they now have holes in them!!!

  13. EnKay says:

How much can one little body endure? My GOD. Can noone help this woman?

  14. xiaoecho says:

CelebitchyFA……..she buys them by the boxful (if I remember correctly, ballet slippers come in boxes of six)

  15. geronimo says:

ri23 – I like your post best, it suits my position on Amy so I’m going to agree with you. *Covers face to block out the terrifying sight of those poor burnt, broken, crackhead hands.*

    Poor Amy. 😥

  16. Syko says:

I know addicts have to hit rock bottom before they can start recovery, but my god, she certainly LOOKS like rock bottom to me. If she gets worse, I don’t want to see the pictures.

This is so sad. To have the talent she has, and to slide down this far.

  17. s says:

Seriously… Who are these “friends” of hers that let her look this way and act this way. None of my friends would let me make such a fool of myself. In fact not many strangers where I live would let someone bash themselves up that way. What about the police? Obviously they could easily fill their arrest quota by dropping by her pad any given night of the week. That dude in the back of the photo is way too chipper. It’s just so ridiculous. For sure get that hillbilly some shoes. I am waiting for the story that she’s broke.

  18. alex says:

I live in Camden and it is a fright to see her around. Believe me, the pictures are nothing…..in reality one might mistaken her for a homeless.

Hopefully she’ll wake up one day.

  19. kate says:

poor amy … all that’s left now is the overdose, the funeral and the movie about her life, starring kiera knightley.

  20. Snowblood says:

She is not mentally ill, it’s the drugs. She’s a hardcore multiple-drug addict at this stage; by the looks of her and the descriptions of her whacked-out behaviour I’d say she takes massive amounts of top-shelf super-quality crystal methamphetamine, probably smokes and/or shoots up pure ice. Additionally, she’s deep into the heroin, and that shit is also no joke, of course. Think about it – she takes SO much of both those hardcore drugs, plus all the hard liquor she constantly drinks, and she never has to run out or take “dope vacations” since she’s got oodles of money and all kinds of crackie friends around her 24/7.

Her face not healing, covered in flesh-eaten-looking sores? Meth addiction gone haywire. All her crazy behaviour is just her mind being completely and thoroughly saturated and even oozing heroin, crystal and crack cocaine, never mind the Jack Daniels she likes to drink from the bottle, straight.

It is HORRIBLE to see her in this state!! I love her so much, and it seriously bothers me to see these pap photos of her looking so incredibly fucked up! I want to fly to London and go meet her and become her friend and convince her she doesn’t need to wantonly destroy herself like this, if only she’d at LEAST, at least slow it waaaaaaay down, just smoke spliffs and drink and that’s it, quit the hard shit and boot all her crackie “friends’ to the curb. 🙁 🙁

  21. Jaundice Machine says:

I love Miss Amy, but if I saw this hot mess stumbling down the street, I’d automatically reach for my (imaginary) side-arm unload a clip into her, for fear she’d want to eat my brains. Drugs have made her into a zombie, literally and figuratively. If ever there was a call to be made to the biohazard unit. . . I mean rehab. . .

  22. Crux the Magic Dragon says:

That child is nuttier than two left shoes, peeps. The Winehouse family KNEW how sick Amy was, hoping that her fame and fortune would ‘snap her out of it’. The cat is OUT of the bag, and she’s running around hissing, screaming and attacking. Mitchell keeps telling the press, “She’s fine, she’s fine. Amy likes the attention.” This is starting to become inhumane. Yes, she is a millionaire, yes she is mentally, physically and neurologically damaged. Too many people have their hands in the coffers, and she’s making them rich and wealthy. IMHO, she had a nervous breakdown when she heard the verdict. Amy Winehouse only responded in the manner in which she’s used, act out, be a brat damn the consequences. She could have endangered not only her hangers-on, but her bodyguard with her erratic behavior, when does this stop? When does this end????

  23. gg says:

Okay, ya’ll — in the slumped down picture, she has got black UNDERPANTS on her back hairpiece … 😯

I was thinking about it being cocaine, but I think snowblood is right about the meth. That explains a few things.

  24. daisy424 says:

She’s tweaking folks. Makes me itch just looking at her.

  25. xiaoecho says:

gg………never mind the knickers, look at that guys elbow

    EWW!!!

Would someone please take pity on a non drug user and tell me what the hell ‘tweaking’ means

  26. daisy424 says:

Needs a fix. Itching, picking, bugs crawling……….picks and bleeds, nothing heals.
Not from first hand experience, druggie relatives.

  27. Mairead says:

I just saw on the news that she’s been “rushed” to hospital 😐

  28. xiaoecho says:

    THANX!

  29. SixxKitty says:

Drugs kids-don’t do ’em, or you’ll turn into this!

  30. gg says:

Are the scabs from any type of skin condition, other than the :: urp :: picking habits and non-healing?

    I think I’m gonna be ill…

  31. stacy says:

OH MY F*&@ING GOD HOW IS SHE NOT DEAD YET?

  32. stacy says:

    EWWWW! YUCK

  33. daisy424 says:

gg; Not that I know of. From what I have seen, they are so fixated, focused, obscessed, they can’t stop. The sores often get infected.
It takes larger amts. to get them high, they need more and more, they build a tolerance, like any other addictive substance. They twitch, shake, tic.
My best friend’s sister picked/dug a hole almost through her cheek. She was convinced bugs were crawling out of her pores. Her scars are horrible. Her face, legs, arms, even her feet. She is still using, it is amazing to me, she used to be beautiful.

Nothing matters to addicts except their next high. Nothing.

  34. ER says:

I’m from the northwest and here meth is a problem. She definitely looks like a meth user. It can take a pretty person down to a train wreck in no time. She looks terrible!

  35. Snowblood says:

Oh, my god, Daisy424, my heart goes out to you; how wretched it has to feel to watch your beautiful sister disintegrate like that and not be able to do anything to stop or reverse it. That has to be the world’s ugliest, most inherently evil illegal drug, the crystal meth. Ugly, horrible drug.

  36. davemiddle says:

All I could think of looking at that last picture is she’s gonna die. Back in the 60’s I thought dope was cool. “Look how wrong you can be.”

  37. Judy says:

I wish she would just go away some where. She has turned herself into this ugly filthy creature and seems so proud of it. She will be the next one to die of an OD.

  38. daisy424 says:

Snowblood, not my sister, my best friend of 30 years sister.
It still continues to tear up her family. She just got busted again, for ID theft, 5 felonies. She steals from her own Mother for a fix.

Amy can vastly fund her own drug habit. Unless someone goes to court to stop her/control her, she will end up dead. That’s not Amy making decisions, it is the drugs. I hope her family will stand up to her like Martin Sheen and Carol O’Connor did for their children.
What are the British laws for this? Anyone?

    Whoa, sorry long rant.

  39. geronimo says:

Daisy, Amy can ONLY be sectioned when two health professionals (docs, psychiatrists) agree that she is a danger to herself and others. Astounding as it may be to believe, her father tried on 2 occasions to have her sectioned but failed to get a second signature. Something to do with her not being a danger to others. I know. Astounding. No ‘astounded’ icon when we need one.

On the whole, I’m far more in favour of a culture that sees involuntary sectioning as a last option but in Amy’s case, it’s looking increasingly like it’s now a matter of life or death.

  40. Crux the Magic Dragon says:

Amen, Daisy! Amy is too deep in the drugs to care about concern.
