Britney Spears spends $22,000 a month to get back in shape

According to the Daily Mail, Britney Spears has spent (what most people would consider) a fortune to get her physique back in shape. Brit packed on the pounds over the last two years. Not only did she give birth to two babies in rapid succession, but she also stopped her vigorous concert touring, which involved a ton of dancing.

On top of that she was on a lot of heavy duty medication for what a lot of outlets claim is bipolar disorder – and the vast majority of those meds can lead to serious weight gain, especially in the belly and upper half of the body.

The mother-of-two, who eagerly showed off her slimmed down bikini body during a trip to Mexico over the weekend, is back to 9st [126 lbs] after the stress of her custody battle saw her tip the scales at 10st 4lbs [144 lbs]. Her expensive heath make-over included £5,000-a-month on a nutritionist and diet supplements, £4,000 on a personal trainer and £2,000 on a private dance choreographer.

A source was quoted in Closer magazine as saying: ‘She limits herself to 1400 calories a day with one ‘cheat day’ where she’ll treat herself. She also changed the way she eats, trying to have only two thirds of what is on her plate. It’s all about portion control and fresh food now. And lots of water in place of Red Bull.’

She has also taken on some of Victoria Beckham’s diet tips, eating plenty of steamed fish and snacking on edamame beans… Now, says the insider: ‘Britney is so proud of herself because her ab muscles are back’. She’s feeling better than she has in ages.’

Britney has clearly made a serious commitment to changing her life. Most of us would never be able to afford such help. But since she’s got the money, I can think of few better things to spend it on than improving her health. It seems like her self esteem has risen considerably, and that benefits her mental health, which is good not just for Britney but for her sons. Perhaps the last few years will give her some perspective on life, and make her really appreciate what’s she’s got. She’s worked pretty damn hard for it.

Does anyone know what brand of bikini she’s wearing? I just saw someone at the beach this Saturday with it in black, and I’m in love with that top.

  2. Tammy says:

For $22,000 a MONTH, you would think they could do a hell of a lot better than 18 pounds in all this time. It has been several months, that only averages out to about 4 pounds a month with all that help?

  3. Kolby says:

I don’t think she looks that different from the way she did a few months ago. I don’t see any definition – the girl was very thin & muscular before she had her kids. I think it’s great that she’s changing her lifestyle & getting healthy, though.

  4. Alexis says:

Slim + steamed fish = happy and sane

Chubby + cheetos = insane and sad

Do I have that right? Never mind the scary hair extensions, dressing like a slutty teenager, continued conservatorship over her affairs by her father, loss of custodial parenting rights. Cause she’s skinnier now so everything must be great!

  5. kc says:

i’mm spending $70 a month on a gym membership and making smart eating choices and Brit Brit and I weigh the same. Get a grip Hollywood, it’s not hard to be healthy.

  6. just me says:

What does wearing slutty clothes and hair extension have anything to do with her getting back in shape? You sound like a very bitter person. Maybe you should start going to the gym and get some endorphin in to your system.

If I had the money I would have a personal for everything 😆 I’m happy that she is trying to get her self back in shape.

  7. elisha says:

Tammy, it’s clearly not about the AMOUNT of weight. I noticed it’s a small number too. She really is being healthier, if this story is to be believed. I can lose a lot weight by making poor eating choices like still drinking lots of soda, but switching to diet. Or I can be healthy by drinking more water instead of soda. Brit’s going the healthy route. I would totally spend that money if I had it too.

  8. Lauri says:

Good for her. She seems to be continuing to get her life back in order. I’m not a fan of hers by any means, but for the sake of her kids I hope she is able to get her head screwed on straight and able to cope better with life.

  9. rabidparadise says:

Slutty? 🙄 She’s at the beach! I assumed a bathing suit was appropriate attire…

  10. Dingles says:

    Fuck. her.

I’ve lost as much weight as she has in the past few months, AMAZINGLY by exercising more and eating less. And it didn’t cost me the pricetag of a car.
I have a hard time being “happy” for her when the cost of her losing five pounds could’ve fed an African village for a month.

  11. Poe says:

Bitchney also spends $50,00.00 a month on Meth.

  12. YEAH says:

But Dingles, the cost of your Starbucks coffee for a week could vaccinate a small village. Just sayin’….

It’s all in proportion. She’s wealthier so it sounds (and is) a lot of money. But in relation to your income, and what you spend on what others may deem frivolous, it’s closer. Know what I mean?

Not that it’s totally right/wrong either way….it just is.

Good on her for trying to recover. From what it sounds like she’s been through, choices of behavior prior to her illness notwithstanding, it’s good to see someone do better. Mental illness is a tough road to hoe, wealthy or not.

    Ciao!

  13. Bodhi says:

Thats more than my student loan!

  14. Sherri says:

Hmmm, let’s see, spending a ton of money to eat less and exercise more, however, still smoking in almost all of her pix…yeah, that is healthy…better invest some money on quitting smoking as well!! Smoking not only affects her but people within breathing distance of her.
Let’s see how her lifestyle withstands, me thinks she is on her best behaviour, I believe she loses her dad as her “babysitter” soon….
But to give the little self centered child credit, at least she looks healthier on the outside…

  15. Rio says:

Relative income level or not, jeez Louise, I refuse to believe anyone needs 22,000/per month to get back in shape! I go to the YMCA three-or-so days a week, don’t eat crap, and do it using the amazing low-cost solution of…WILLPOWER. I don’t particularly ENJOY hauling my ass out of bed at 6am to workout, but I do it because I like the results.
22 grand, that is mind-bogglingly stupid.

  16. Jaundice Machine says:

Yeah, for 22k a month, I’m a little underwhelmed with how she looks, as well. (I hate to be a bitch, but we’re going by “Hollywood” standards, not “real-world” standards.) She’s lost a little weight, but there’s not any real tone to her body. But then again if she really is trying to be healthy and happy (and not carve and tuck her flab), good on her. How you look and how you feel are not always congruent, but more often than not the former will gravitate towards the latter. Eventually.

  17. J says:

@Roma: I can’t for sure say if her swimsuit is from J.crew, but it looks exactly like the one I have and that is where I got mine

  18. Because I say So says:

For 22K a month, I would expect a few rounds of lipodissolve. Just sayin’

  19. Tammy says:

She is definately looking better, don’t get me wrong, but that amount of money is obscene. Ratio, percentages, income adjustment, whatever, that amount of money should have her chiseled at this point. She could have lost that much weight with virtually no effort. A pound a week is not much harder than substituting a salad at one meal a day. If she were already fit and had to lose 20 pounds for a movie or something, I could see it being harder, but in the shape she was in, it wouldn’t have taken much of a change.

  20. No deal says:

If she’s got it who cares? It is very very, very hard to lose weight after a medical depression-something about those brain chemicals being off delay that endorphin benefit.Personal experience.

  21. Smober says:

She could’ve done it better for less. I’ve lost 2 pounds in a WEEK with SparkPeople.com, and that’s 100% free. 😆

  22. Monalicious says:

She spent more to lose weight than she did for child support!!! Does anyone see just how f@&ked up that is?? I don’t care if she came out looking like a supermodle, is it worth it?

  23. linpin says:

Note to Britney…Give me the $22,000 a month and i’ll come over and put a lock on you refrigerator!!

  24. brianne says:

YAAY!! I’m so excited for her! I just lost 30 pounds this year and its the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time! I’m glad she’ll get to feel again as I’ve felt. It sounds a little excessive to spend all that money, but in her case, it cant be easy to go work out at 24hr fitness or whatever with 200 cameras trying to catch a shot. Much easier to hire private help. She looks great, go her!!

  25. Diet says:

I wonder, how could one can spend such a huge amount for all these things…
