Sister Wives polygamist family is moving to Nevada

sisterwiveswedding2
The Brown polygamist family, the stars of the TLC reality show Sister Wives, are moving from Lehi, Utah to the state of Nevada for “job opportunities.” Apparently their living situation – one man and a bunch of live-in partners – isn’t technically “illegal” in Nevada. Dad Kody Brown is currently under investigation by local authorities in Utah for felony bigamy, although according to TMZ that case hasn’t gone anywhere.

“Sister Wives” polygamist Kody Brown is gonna need a whole LOTTA moving trucks … ’cause the man with 4 wives and 19* [sic] kids is moving his entire family out of the state of Utah … TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the Brown’s — all 24 of ’em — tell us Kody will be moving the gang to Nevada so he and his wives can “explore new job opportunities.”

Brown — who was at the center of the felony bigamy investigation in Utah — shouldn’t face as much scrutiny for his living situation in Nevada … where cohabitation between a man and his unlicensed “wives” is not a crime.

Brown family attorney Jonathan Turley tells us neither Kody nor his wives have been hit with any charges stemming from the Utah investigation.

As for the move — we’re told the fam should be on the road in the next few days.

[From TMZ]

Meri, Kody’s first wife, did lose her job in Utah as the result of the reality show, but it seems very suspect to me that they’re all moving to Nevada to look for “work.” They have 16 kids who are in polygamist-run schools in Lehi, they have a custom made home through which the initial three wives all have their own apartment-style wings, and the newest piece, Robyn, just moved to Lehi with her kids. This family is moving to Nevada for their reality show, which is the only “work” they’ll do for some time. They’re going to set up their lives like a fishbowl because there’s a lot of money in it for them, and if any of the wives continue working it will be a pretense to create some kind of plot for the show. Plus, Sister Wives is coming back to TLC in March and you can bet that they’ll have a story arc focusing on the nightmare it will be to move this huge family. Maybe that’s the series finale.

*TMZ states that Kody has 19 kids, but that’s incorrect. He has 13 biological children from his first three wives, and 3 stepchildren with Robyn. That’s still a hell of a lot of kids.

Maybe he can make Kate Gosselin his next wife and add on 8 more kids and a new reality show “Kate & Kody plus???”

  2. DD says:

so he has 4 live-in nannies. Awesome.

  3. Kaboom says:

@brin: good idea, and maybe Octamom to bring it up to a solid 30?

  4. Ol' Mrs says:

    *throwing up now*
This whole thing makes me sick.

  5. brin says:

@Kaboom…great idea, how could I forget Octomom…they could have their own town….Brownville?

  6. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

Ohhhh @Kaboom is right!!! He should add octomom!!

  7. Leona says:

    Why do these people exist…..

  8. Bodhi says:

Well good luck getting jobs in Nevada. I’ve heard the economy there isn’t very rosy.

  9. Obvious says:

i think kate and octomom would be great additions to his family-but i wouldn’t want to torture the other wives and children with that-they already have to put up with kody!

  10. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

The Gosselin kids would destroy the Brown’s and the sister wives would plot and kill Kate..

    Now that’s TV

  11. the original bellaluna says:

The only jobs they’re going to find in Nevada is “freakish-reality-family” or they’ll get hired for the same reason. Last I heard, the unemployment rate in NV is somewhere around 12%.

edit: @ JDG – Now THAT would be hilarious. But I think Kate would do some serious damage of her own to that tool Kody.

  12. Megan says:

They’re off to Vegas to create a freak show.

  13. original kate says:

they all look like they have been featured on the “people of wal-mart” site.

  14. Belle Epoch says:

Good luck finding health insurance for 21 unrelated people

  15. Jayna says:

He had a good job. This was a mistake doing this show. In this economy he will not find a job in pharmaceutical sales like he had before, especially with this publicity about their lifestyle.

  16. TeeTee says:

LOOK out ladies, he’s trying to start the “BUNNY RANCH II”

    runnnnn!!!!

  17. Ellie says:

I live in Vegas and I spit my water out when I read this. There are practically no jobs out here. Never mind one that will help support umpteen people.

  18. MrsOdie2 says:

I don’t see what is in it for the wives. some people say you have help raising your kids, but then there are MORE kids, which seems like it would make raising them even harder (and certainly more expensive). I, personally, wouldn’t want any help taking care of my husband. This polygamy thing is all about the man and his weiner. Women who buy into it are just brainwashed. I tried to watch this show, but I couldn’t watch the guy’s fat, sunburned, smug face for ten minutes.

  19. plotter says:

Mrs.Odie, the wives are all connected to the polygamous world from childhood. At least one is from a multi-wife family herself, and they all practiced fundamentalism before they hooked up.

When you are taught from your earliest childhood, as a girl, that the most charitable act of selflessness you can perform is to share your man, this is what you get. They all think they are going to be the goddesses in heaven…where they will still be servants to Kody the Nob.

These women never have to think independently or take personal responsibility for anything. Living with that degree of fundamentalism from birth means they only have to focus on Kody the Nob. They get and hold his (limited) attention through sex and having more babies.

  21. Sara Heitz says:

Where ever they are their life style is a farce and a disgrace to the American Family. Polygamy is indeed a great shame for American women.

  22. Kate says:

Simply legalize plural marriage as long as both or all parties are over 21. Why??? Because being a legal wife brings leverage to a relationship. “You want to treat me like S…? You want to disrespect me??? I get half!!! Marriage is a nightmare to get out of, so if you really want to make a commitment stop playing house and get married for all its pros and cons.

Seriously, I’m not a polygamist; I’m a middle of the road, educated (BSN), Democrat and Irish Catholic. I just believe in a live and let live mentality. There are too many things in the world to really get upset about. Who a person marries or how many people a person marries is not a pressing issue.

  23. voban says:

I agree that’s it’s all about the man and his “weiner” he was so excited about”falling in love” with Robin (his newest “piece”) that it made me sick. BUT on the other hand, it’s better than the serial marriages and single mothers; baby daddy’s, baby mama crap that we see every day. At least this family has some actual family aspects and support each other. We have too many single mothers (not by choice) and men running around impregnating without a second thought; we go pretty easy on them in comparison. Polygamy is just not the norm and I too am a somewhat repulsed by it. But in the end, we should just let these people be. There are far worse things as I have mentioned above.

  24. Renn says:

America was founded on the belief that people had a right to practice religion freely without persecution. I don’t agree with polygmy but I do not judge them and besides in the bible a lot of prophets had more then one wife’s and since the government got involved with marriage there has been more and more divorces

  25. dallas says:

He should have the right to live his faith. He and his wives believe in plural marriage so keep your negative comments to yourself. We need more men to committ to supporting one wife and his child or children. Give Cody credit beause he does focus on the family and supoorts them without the help of our government.

  26. dallas says:

Meri and Christine are so jealous of Robyn and act stupid on this show. They might want to spend a little more time on their appearance since Robyn puts them to shame. What in the world will these two women do when Robyn and Cody have a baby. Too funny!!

  27. Dancer09 says:

Personally their choice in life style is not for me. I get far to jealous and would not be able to share my husband with another woman. However this is the life style they have chosen and I believe that they should get to live that life. They are not hurting anyone or anything. They are not going door to door and saying come to out church so that we may marry you into large families that you do not want.
There is no harm done by this family or their children, so what is the problem? Why can’t people just leave them be and allow them to be happy.

  28. KD says:

Seriously! Why is everybody so mean! Just because you don’t agree with a lifestyle doesn’t mean you have the right to bash people. Personally I would never choose polygamy…..there is no way I would share my hubby, I am jealous as is! But at the same time the existence of polygamy does not change me, their choices do not effect me in any way. So what they choose what they do, they are not pushing it on you hoping you choose to join them! Really!
We call ourselves Americans and pride ourselves on being free, yet we bash people because of the color of their skin, their choice of religion (or lack of), their sexuality, who they marry, what they look like, and any and every other thing possible! There are better things to focus our attention on changing……like making sure our children make choices we would approve of, making our lives happier and safer! Terrorism is the real thing to be concerned with, natural disasters, war, gangs, drugs, murder, rape, molestation….there are better things to be concerned with! Put your energy into changing REAL problems!
I am not bothered…..they seem happy, close nit, caring, well adjusted…..and otherwise “normal” and pleasant, they are not on welfare, creating monsters, making bombs, selling drugs to your kids or planning on killing the president! So just leave them be!

  29. dan says:

can Uhat get him in nevada for felony???

  30. Denise says:

The wives should all move out and leave him to raise the children, since he loves family so much.

  31. From The Muslims says:

Peace and blessings to this beautiful family. May Allah (Jehovah) bless them, protect them, and reward them for their valiantry and for setting the example in times like today where there are more prostitutes than second wives. This should not be so.

The Muslims are praying for you and we pray 5 times a day.
