  1. katie says:

kind of a misleading headline there. oprah’s reason for not having palin on the show sounds perfectly legit. she’s not “not interested” but explains that she doesn’t want to give a political platform on her show. the article notes that obama has not appeared on the show since he became a candidate either.

  2. Ethan says:

So much for encouraging women and standing up for women equality.

Or is it because O is now only for black people and Sarah is too white for her?

  3. m says:

    Hey Ethan:
I think you have something there.
Does seem that O is only for her own.

  4. Diva says:

Didja guys bother to read the article?

Just curious, cos it’s generally a good thing to do before making comments…

    but yeah, anyway….

  5. Trillion says:

    school ’em Diva

  6. Trillion says:

    Javier Bardem. Thank you.

  7. Kristin says:

No, O doesn’t want a political platform on her show, she just SHOVES Obama down our throats!!!!!
    I’m with you Ethan!

  8. prissa says:

For some reason that 1st picture of Javier makes me pray “God please don’t let him be gay”

  9. elisha says:

Equal time laws. It’s against FCC regs to have one candidate on TV without offering the other candidate equal time. That doesn’t apply to news. But then again, Jay Leno gets away with it so I don’t see why the “O”lmighty wouldn’t.

  10. Neelyo says:

I just read that the McCain isn’t allowing the press to ask her any questions after the convention so it’s a moot point.

I am one of ‘Oprah’s Own’ (or would you prefer ‘those people’ Ethan and M?)

By your logic Ethan, every caucasian who votes for McCain or woman who voted for Hilary did it simply because of their gender or race and not because of what they stand for. I am a black gay male who voted for Hilary in the primary and will vote for Obama in the fall not because he’s a black male but because I’m a Democrat.

  11. rose says:

” At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for ANY of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Obama has NOT appear on her show since he announced that he was going to run for President. Some people are so racist that they try to find that same ugly fault in others in order to justify themselves. Sad Really.

  12. Orangejulius says:

WTF, Neeylo, he wouldn’t allow the press to ask her any questions? Roll on the debates… can’t wait.

  13. vdantev says:

Anyone who still watches Oprah loses all my respect anyway.

  14. Ethan says:

Neelyo, I didn’t tell O or anyone how to vote.

I was referring to her odd decision (given her being a self- proclaimed pro women equality) not to interview a woman who might be the first VP.

That is not odd if you are a sexist or if your show is about other issues.

That is VERY odd given O had Obama several times on her show, and having a show that deals with issues that deal with women and equality.

O should have been the first one to try to get an interview with potentially the first female VP.

  15. Diva says:

Ethan, read the ARTICLE… Obama hasn’t been on her show since ’06. And he was on once before that in ’05. This is stuff you would know if you READ the article and it would prevent you from making false statements like “O had Obama several times on her show”. It was twice, and it was 2 and 3 years ago.

She supports him, yes, but she’s not anywhere near shoving him down anyone’s throat. I can’t stand Oprah Winfrey and even I know this.

  16. Amy says:

Oprah not wanting Sarah Palin on her show doesn’t have to do with her preferring “black people” over “white people”….it has to do with the fact that she doesn’t want a complete religious nutcase on her show. Sarah Palin is NOT supportive of the female population so if any women vote for her because she is female, they are simply dumb. Yay! Let’s all practice abstinence so we can have teenagers slip through the cracks and pop out babies that they don’t even want to have. McCain is too old to be president and this is NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN!!!!!

  17. Elizabeth says:

    Hail ‘Ethan’ and ‘Vdantev’ !

  18. daisy424 says:

I thought she ‘Cried so hard her false eyelashes came off‘ 🙄

Agree Dante. I can’t stand this woman, she’s a name dropper. I have been to her shows, she is as controlling as Madonna folks.

  19. RAN says:

She’s another one of those sanctimonious, holier than thou hags I can’t stand. I mean Oprah, not Palin. I agree Daisy, well said Dante

  20. anna says:

Some people on this board are so stupid. Obama is Oprah’s Senator, she lives in Chicago. She’s followed his career and has voted for him since his early days in politics. He’s her local politician. Why wouldn’t she support him as president?

Also, Oprah’s political views are much more aligned w/ the democrats than republicans. Why would she support Palin just because she’s a woman? I guess it’s okay to vote based on identity when it comes to gender, but not race? Not all women identify with Palin. I certainly don’t. Palin stands for everything I stand against. What kind of woman can vote for a man who voted AGAINST equal pay for equal work?

I find it interesting how everyones so “pro-woman” when it comes to Palin and Clinton, but I never hear the same calls for female unity when it comes to defending Michelle Obama or even Oprah herself. I guess woman only come in one color?

  21. daisy424 says:

Anna; “Some people on this board are so stupid”
“I guess woman only come in one color?”

You’re stupid if you think that is my opinion.

BTW, Are you the ‘Anna’ that lives in Switzerland?

  22. gg says:

“anna: I find it interesting how everyones so “pro-woman” when it comes to Palin and Clinton, but I never hear the same calls for female unity when it comes to defending Michelle Obama or even Oprah herself.”

Because neither Michelle nor Oprah are candidates for office? Maybe somebody should tell them. 😆

  23. Kaiser says:

@Prissa – Javier is not gay. He’s nailing Penelope Cruz. ZOMG THANK GOD.

    @Neeylo – Excellent point.

Why are people whining about Big Bad Oprah not interviewing Poor Little Palin when Palin’s too terrified to give interviews? Or is it McCain who’s too terrified of letting her speak without a teleprompter? Who knows?

  24. ER says:

Sarah Palin will probably decline an invitation to appear on Oprah’s show even if she’s invited!

  25. vdantev says:

Anna; “Some people on this board are so stupid I guess woman only come in one color?”

Who let in this crack baby ?

  26. breederina says:

Kaiser, Penelope Cruz also dated the the wee thetan so dating Penelope doesn’t necessarily mean he’s batting for your home team. Still the man is smoking.

  27. Kaiser says:

@Breederina – Yeah, I thought of that too. But Penelope and the ZOMG XENU ON A ZEBRA never showed up at random places dry humping each other – like she and Javier do. You know? It just feels like less of a cover-up of Bad-Xenu gayness, and more like mind-blowing lust.

But really I don’t know – I’m just getting a “Really Straight” reading on my Gaydar for Javier.

  28. breederina says:

Too true Kaiser, too true.. Senor Bardem would certainly inspire mind blowing lust in me at close range. XOAZ on the other hand, not at all!

  29. Monica says:

I think Sarah Palin is great. She is the poster child for showing that abstinence-only crap doesn’t work. So much for no sex education in schools…she obviously forgot that if it wasn’t taught at school, it should have been taught at home. That’s probably why Oprah doesn’t want her on the show: because Palin stands for a bunch of stupid stuff, & Oprah doesn’t want to promote that crap.

  30. marcyd says:

no need for Palin to go on Oprah. Oprah’s audience (you know, the hockey moms) already support Palin.

  31. J says:

Even Oprah seems to make a political choice by not inviting Sarah Palin to her program, so what?

Everyone is entitled to his/her political opinions, even celebrity. That’s “her” program carring “her” name. If she is not interested in Sarah Palin, she is not.

If Sarah Palin indeed gets invited to Oprah’s show, what is she going to talk about? Can she talk about her family scandals (her allegedly fake pregnancy, her 16-year-old daughter’s early pregancy, her allegedly affair with her husband’s friend, her abuse of power to fire the police head….etc) in an open and honest way? I don’t think so.

If I was Oprah, I’d rather have Tom Cruise back to my sofa. At least he is entertaining in a more genuine way.

  32. J says:

PS. I can’t believe some posters are so “sexist” on this blog. People should vote for a woman candidate just because she is a woman? Despite the fact that a lot of women out there do not believe in the same ideology (actually in the totally opposite) as Sarah Palin?

If you support Republican, no matter what kind of flawed candidate they push down your throat, you will vote for them, then just say it out loud: I am for their values. Playing this gender card here is full of political manipulation. Palin wants the job then she must stand the heat — didn’t the republican people keep telling Hillary Clinton when they accused her of playing the gender card?

You vote for what you believe. People should be color-blind and gender-blind when they vote.

  33. Ethan says:

“Obama is Oprah’s Senator, she lives in Chicago. She’s followed his career and has voted for him since his early days in politics”

That is the most ignorant point of all.

Obama is a senator for about 3 years- 2 of which he has been campaigning for himself as a candidate for the presidency.

Before that he was elected to the state’s senate due to him being the ONLY candidate when his people got a BLACK WOMAN disqualified due to technical reasons- via dirty politics of Chicago.

I saw it on CNN and I find it weird that O would voye for a man no one knew in Chicago that got his break due to dirty politics against a respected black woman.

Are you saying that O is simply against any woman running for office and thus is supportive of a man who was a senator for about a year and a half when he launched his campaign?

  34. Ethan says:

The only thing that O has revealed is that she is supporting the advancement of women only when it comes to her.

Ever since Obama started his campaign we have witnessed the most ugly dirty politics and attacks against women.

First against Hillary and now against Sarah.
Obama did the same thing to a state senator who was a woman via dirty politics in Chicago.

If O is supportive of a man who has brought divisive politics, more dirty sexism and brought conflict and weakened the democratic party, that is telling of her true colors.

She should be the one to do the explaining.

  35. Serena says:

The candidates do not need a political platform on Oprah. She has a wide audience and all these candidates would do is try to sell themselves. She is right not to have them on her show.

  36. Diva says:

Please link me to this story about Obama’s dirty politics against a woman in Chicago.

Let me just say again, Ethan, had you bothered to read the article, you would know that Barack Obama was on Oprah Winfrey show in 2005 and 2006 it was for his books, as Oprah is known to do as I understand it (I don’t watch her), and well before he was even hinting at running for president.

Oprah has said she would love to have Governor Palin on her show AFTER the election is over, just as I would assume she would love to have Obama BACK on her show after the elections are over.

And Daisy, she “cried her eyelashes off” at his speech and the DNC… and I would venture to say, she wasn’t the only one. It was not on her show, and she, just like everyone else here, has her right to support and endorse whomever she chooses. She’s being VERY fair, on her own show, in how she’s handling and covering ALL candidates.

  37. Shay says:

    @ Ethan and M

It’s funny the some claim that Oprah ignores the black community by focusing mainly on white hollywood but others (you 2) are saying she’s all about black people?

I guess you can’t make everyone happy.

    +++++++++++++++

On another note I understand what shes saying. She supports Obama but won’t have Obama on the show during the election. Seems fair to me. Why would she not have Obama but instead invite Palin?

  38. breederina says:

Diva the woman’s name is Alice Palmer and it’s very much a his side/ her side situation. CNN has a lengthy article about it presenting both sides. It’s a situation that can be easily spun either way but I guess the bottom line is if Ms. Palmer had followed the rules to the letter then she would not have been called out.
Obama played to win it’s true but he broke no laws and was not deceitful. From what I read I don’t believe Ms. Palmer was either but her people were very sloppy and she had to bear the consequences of their mistakes.

  39. m says:

    Shay:
I never said O is all about black people, I said she’s all about her own. And by that I mean she won’t let a Republican have equal time on her show. Pretty biased on her part. She has a show. She has an audience. She should know better than that. It looks unfair. It sounds unfair. It’s unfair. That’s how it comes off.

  40. Huh! says:

    M:
It’s clear that you want to be right at all cost, but you should try to inject some logic into your arguments. What is not fair about it…. She has not had Obama on during the election, so why should she have Palin on. In fact, Oprah made the choice not to have Obama back during the election, way before Palin entered the race. If Oprah is so unfair, why has she not been promoting Obama everyday on her show.

The only person not being fair here, is you.

  41. Huh! says:

    Ethan:
Why didn’t you respond to the #15 comment by Diva. Oh….I know…. Because it makes your whole argument sound dumb. Get a life dude, your bias is showing.

  42. daisy424 says:

Oprah has made her name a ‘brand’. From her show, the Oxygen channel, to her magazine.

“Whenever she recommends a book on her show, it becomes a best seller, and when she brings an expert on the show, the audience responds in kind (Dr. Phil, anyone?). Dick Parsons, CEO of Time Warner, says once Winfrey makes an endorsement sales increase tenfold.”

‘Audacity of Hope’ was released in Oct. 2006 the same month of his last appearance on the OW show. Obama announced his bid for the Presidency in Feb.2007.
It is not believable to me that it is just a coincidence that neither Obama or Winfrey knew that 4 months later he would be running for President.

I like Oprah, have my own opinion.

  43. Diva says:

Was anything about a presidential bid DISCUSSED on that show??? No. It was a show on his book.

Whether you like it or not, Oprah has taken a position not to have any candidates on her show during the election, and that includes both Barack Obama and Sarah Palin.

Thank you, btw, Breederina, I’m going to look into all that now.

  44. caribassett says:

It’s just making me giggle. I mean, well, it is Oprah. Does it even matter? I mean truly? Forgive me if I am naive here, I am not into the whole Oprah thing, but are there really a jillion ladies out there clinging to her every word, who will vote based on her opinion, not their beliefs, or the candidates records etc.? Really I think its just some fuel to make people at opposite sides snipe at each other.

  45. Suzy Sunshine says:

I say Oprah should have the dumb twit on her show and ask her the tough questions that she hasn’t answered yet! Palin is a joke and is an insult to the millions of women who are a part of the Oprah Winfrey fan club! I still don’t know what part of my womb is Sarah Palin threatened by?

Sarah Palin will set women back 200 years!

  46. m says:

it’s about balance. that’s all. and clearly, we’re not gonna get it from Oprah.

  47. Ethan says:

Why is my response not showing?
I didn’t use any foul language!

  48. Huh! says:

    M and Ethan,

Why do the both of you keep ignoring the validity of post #15…. Amazing!!!

  49. Shay says:

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

How is it unfair if Barak hasn’t been on her show during the election? Barak hasn’t had any time on her show during the election so why would a Republican need “equal time”? She’s supporting Barak away from her show and that was the point of Oprah’s comment. She’s spent her own personal free time to tour with Barak during the primaries. I think most people are “biased” during their free time she’s entitled to her own opinion just as you are yours. Only problem is you’re avoiding the facts as they stand. She won’t be having Barak or Palin on the show during the election.

    Too True!

I’m still trying to figure out what’s being argued on this thread. This whole thing is nonsense.

  51. gossip_ho says:

    i hate sarah palin…she’s a hypocrite!

  52. Chris says:

Oprah isn’t interested in a Sarah Palin interview

But the Palin family would make perfect guests on the Maury Show, free DNA testing included

  53. Andrea says:

What is so funny about all of this is who gives a crud what Oprah thinks and who she has on her show!! She is not a political analyst or anyone with a political background! Oprah is a talk show host-thats it! Yes she does hold for her own, but what is even scarier is people look to Oprah, Tyra and the ladies on the View for how they should vote! Bad idea!! Oprah is so influential and full of power and that is dangerous.
I hope she knows what Obama stands for-high taxes, big government, universal health care- no good! He is the most liberal candidate to ever run for presidency.
Dont vote for someone just because he or she is your race or because they belong to your political party. Vote on the issue!!

  54. Hello, there is a lot of information on this blog and it has become part of my bookmark.

  55. Mika Rudis says:

One thing I would like to discuss is that fat reduction plan fast can be achieved by the right diet and exercise. A person’s size not just affects appearance, but also the actual quality of life. Self-esteem, depressive disorder, health risks, in addition to physical abilities are influenced in an increase in weight. It is possible to make everything right and at the same time having a gain. If this happens, a medical problem may be the reason. While a lot food instead of enough work out are usually the culprit, common medical conditions and traditionally used prescriptions could greatly amplify size. Thx for your post right here gywl512.
