Justin Bieber and the Disney kids at the premiere of the Bieb documentary

never_say_never_01_wenn3197

When Kaiser and I went to the movies on Sunday I was really surprised to see a poster for the upcoming Justin Bieber documentary, Never Say Never, which is out this Friday. I haven’t been in the US for about six months so I’m still struck by American pop culture stuff I should already know because of my job. Anyway I vaguely remember hearing about this movie but am surprised at what a huge phenomenon this doofy 16 year old with the attitude has become. I guess the Jonas Brothers are old and busted.

The big premiere for the film was last night in LA. The Biebs had his expensive mop coiffed and his bitchface on and a bunch of young and old stars came out for him. He’s the male Miley and he’s taking his job seriously. Access Hollywood has footage of the crowd at the premiere and they go crazy for this kid. The interviewer even compares it to Beatlemania. Justin seems to have a similarly falsely inflated view of himself, and said that “They’re all here for me, so that’s incredible.” As for what he would “never say never” to, he said “To winning a Grammy this year.”

Bieber also confirmed what Matthew Perry told Ellen – that he used to use the name “Chandler Bing” as his alias in hotels. He said he’s since changed it.

Usher, who produced Justin Bieber and is surely cashing in big time from his success, brought his two adorable little boys to the premiere. He told Access Hollywood that Bieber’s story is “a story of success, a story of triumph… but definitely an All American story.” Bieber is Canadian and had just told that same interviewer that he won’t sing the american anthem because he’s Canadian.

Other celebrities at the premiere included the Willow Smith family, Bieber’s presumed girlfriend Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus in a weird flower print mumu over bell bottoms and a crop top. She’s wearing like a miniature cow’s head necklace. Leona Lewis, Jane Lynch, Heather Locklear, Chris Brown, Melanie B and Kylie and Kendall Jenner were also there.

Here’s the trailer for Never Say Never. I’m so sorry to those of you with tweens who may have to sit through this. I’ll be seeing Gnomeo and Juliet.

I love the face on Usher’s little one!

Aren’t those dresses a bit short for girls that age? (the Kartrashian kids).

  2. flourpot says:

There is not one thing in that trailer that’s true. Noone said he’d never make it. He’s not doing it on his own. He’s not just like you and me. Has this boy hit puberty yet? Has his voice changed? Is this what I’ll be forced to listen to in 5 years when I’m carpooling the kids to school?

I predict that I will be the “uncool” mom listening to Rat Pack or Dave Matthews or something, instead of this industrialized crap they’re churning out that sucks the kids in so well.

  3. Cherry Rose says:

God, I can just see Will and Jada trying to figure out how to get Justin Beiber’s success for their own kids.

Kendall Jenner is so pretty. I hope she doesn’t mess up her face with plastic surgery in the future.

And Miley is dressing like white trash again, I see.

Oh, WTF does a 16 have a documentary about him? Does it foretell that he’s going to have a short career, therefore better to bleed out all the money now?

  4. heatheradair says:

Wow – just me, or is Miley filling out a LOT in the face??????

  5. Sarah says:

Gnomeo and Juliet for the win! I’ll sit through that 100 times before I sit through Never say Never.

  6. di butler says:

Miley is dressing like white trash??? WTF? It may be tacky to you, but the boho look is mighty popular. That Winter Kate cardi she is wearing sold out twice this winter. People bitch when she wears shorts, they bitch when she wears pants. What’s with the irrational hate?

  7. Pix says:

    Usher’s mini-me is SO adorable.

  8. Sunday says:

Yeah Miley is looking at bit “piggish” in the face.. Somebody stuffed a chicken?

  9. Quest says:

Usher’s son has this cute Mr. T impression on his face like he is ready to bring it. LOL

  10. truthSF says:

You just know this “masterpiece” will be #1 at the box office this weekend.

All the teens and desperate moms will be there.

All the guys will be watching “The Eagle”.

The little kids will be watching “Gnomeo & Juliet”

And the leftovers will be watching the other “Masterpiece” “Just Go Without It”.

I think this paragraph speaks for itself. 🙂

Yeah, I think the Jenner girls dresses are a bit short. They actually look awkward and they are pretty girls. But YOUNG. Someone needs to remember that.

Man, I lurve/d me some Will Smith back in the day but those kids have a serious case of smug going on. I guess it’s a bit understandable with their lifestyle but hope it’s brought back down. Of course, it could just be the pictures? I remember when Will Smith won a Grammy and went home to his mom’s house. He was all “I’m a Grammy winner” and his moms said something like, that’s nice, baby; now take out the trash. LOL Hopefully, Willow and Jaden are “taking out the trash”.

Willow does have the makings of a very beautiful girl, perhaps modeling is in her future, beyond the stuff she’s doing now. She’s cute but her bone structure and features really are very pretty; I can see her growing into a striking woman. For now, though, she is just a kid; hope they remember that.

Biebs? No way he’s “doing it on his own”. Please. Is he not talented at all? No. But he’s over exposed right now, his voice is changing, he needs to transition through that, no.way.he.needs.a.biopic yet, and he’s SOOOOO gonna cringe when he looks back at some of his choices.

Sigh. Music, at least mainstream, is hurting at the moment. I feel it’s pain.;-)

  13. serena says:

Ok first of all I don’t care a damn thing about Bieber.

I will just comment on people’s looks for that event.
I love Willow hair! She’s very pretty!

Miley Cyrus? Why is she there? o_O (and she dress as a trashbag, no style at all!)

Usher’s babies are adorable! Too cute!

And the Jenner sisters…those dress are too short! (Am I surprised? No.. but just disgusted for their upcoming future..)

  14. Abby says:

    AHH I LOVE USHER’S KIDS!!!

  15. Cherry Rose says:

Just because you wear something that has sold out doesn’t mean it looks good with what you’re wearing.

Sorry, but Miley has a horrible fashion sense. No amount of expensive clothing can fix that.

  16. jover says:

I have just lost all respect for Jane Lynch and all her “political” activism for gay rights. You’re not cool, hip or edgy if you’re at a JBOOBY movie premiere – Can’t anyone in hollyweird tell it like it is this doofus is insufferable, and Jane Lynch apparently cares more for pub than for any authenticity. I was already leaning away from Glee and this may the final push.

  17. tiredofrumers says:

uhmmm… i think it has little to do with lynch trying to look “hip,” but rather, her & her wife’s kids are fans, and they had the opportunity to take the girls.*shrug*

  18. Fire says:

First of all – that kid has been big for what, 2 seconds? And he needs a documentary about his life already? I smell desperation. Maybe the whole puberty/voice changing thing is worrying his peeps and they have to cash in fully now for fear that the gravy train is going away ?

Secondly, doesn’t that Jenner girl on the right look like the girl from The Grudge (or the one from The Ring)? She always seems to have these wide-eyed scary/scared blank stares. The one on the left is pretty, but they are not dressed age-appropriately at all. But they are part of the Kardashian clan – appropriateness is not in their vocabulary.

Thirdly – Miley sucks – that’s it. She just sucks. Horrible fashion sense and has a pig-like face. BUT…I’m happy to see her little sister dressing more like a little girl.

And lastly, that first picture of “The Biebs” is priceless. Get over yourself and be fucking happy that you are relevant for the time being.

  19. Ashley says:

Jover, I see nothing wrong with Jane Lynch going to this premiere. She has two young daughters and I’m sure that they’re Bieber fans. Why so much hate for Lynch?

  20. Fire says:

Right, cherry rose! Maybe that “cardi” sold out, but how did the shrunken cow skull necklace do this year?

  21. jover says:

Ashley it’s not hate for lynch at all. I like her but let the kids have the spotlight – her politics from what I’ve read are progressive fine, but why would you want anywhere near this corporate manufactured Madison avenue product. Progressives need to separate themselves from this corporate bs masquerading as “art” and “culture” even if they are in hollywood if they want to be taken seriously. Let the kids get the photos she didn’t have to be in them or even go to this non-event.

  22. LT says:

@flourpot – 100% w/ you, all the way down to being the unhip mom blaring the DMB in my soccer mom car. 🙂 Which I already do, just no kids!

  23. KsGirl says:

You mean harridans LEAVE JUSTIN ALOOOOONE!

    *anguished weeping*

Oh yeah, and that Willow kid is going to be beautiful when she grows up. She got the looks in that fam.

  24. motheroftheyear says:

Why is Miley dressed like a late in life lesbian?

Why do the Jennertrashians look like wax figures (I’m guessing this is genetic, perhaps)?

Why does someone who has been popular for half an hour have a film (and a book! No ghoswriter there, I bet!)?

Also, is it wrong, that I at nigh 30 years old, want to kick Justin Bieber’s ass?

    That is all.

ETA: I know I spelled “ghostwriter” wrong. Don’t hate 😉 Oh snap, that reminds me of that PBS show “ghostwriter”. Did anyone else watch that? It was the worst. Even as a kid I knew how much it sucked.

  25. Grace says:

*jover- please get over yourself! I hardly think Lynch taking her family to a bieber premiere has diminished her respectability as a campaigner of ‘progressive politics’ as you put it. And what is money-making GLEE if not corporate manufactured?? :-/ it’s a corporate machine!
She took her kids to a premiere and they got to meet the biebs, they must of been thrilled.
The Lynch can do no wrong!

  26. Truthzbetta says:

    @jover

More progressive tolerance. Ruthlessly intolerant as always.

FYI, Hollywood is all corporate and Glee is corporate.

Corporate pays the bills. It’s show business and if in your mind being gay means you can’t have a j-o-b or w-o-r-k or see a flick this stupid but harmless I’m sure Jane would tell you to shove it.

  27. drkiyz says:

I think y’all should just leave the kid be. He’s cute, got talent, and is sure as heck making his dough. Y’all should cut him some slack…..

    PS: I’m not a fan.

  28. Stubbylove says:

Being stuck with this group of people would be my own version of hell. JB also looks like my 54 yr old Aunt Betty.

  29. Sarah Keller says:

i think it’s so sad that people get on here and trash celebrities who they know nothing about. i’m not a tween and i saw never say never and it really was inspiring to see a young kid try to make his way to the top. his mom was a teen mother, got him involved in music, and at a young age he became crazy talented. how dare all of you bash the film before you’ve seen it. people hate justin bieber just for something to do. so why don’t you spend your time NOT reading/writing articles about him that are just dumb. he’s successful and has done things to be proud of. if you can’t give him that than you are just ignorant.
