I watch Castle. I’m a big fan of the show, and because of my affection for the show, I end up watching the tail-end of whatever crap ABC puts on ahead of Castle. Thus, I’ve seen the last five minutes of way too many Bachelor and Bachelorette shows, and too, too many last dances on Dancing With the Stars. So… last night was the premiere of the newest season of DWTS, and they saved the best for last. “Best” meaning the one “celebrity” that everyone had pegged as the biggest train wreck, although “best” is a good description of Kirstie Alley’s performance too. I caught the last seven minutes of the show when Kirstie danced the cha-cha to Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You”. Um… she was really good! I was surprised with how graceful she was (the dancing stuff starts around the 2 minute mark):
I mean… she was pretty good! Much better than I was expecting. Much better than Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin. Now I’m kind of expecting Kirstie to become the “sweetheart” of DWTS.
I missed Ralph Macchio – how did he do? I saw a bit of Wendy Williams. She sucked, right?

I don’t watch DWTS, and I know she doesn’t always come off well, but I’ve always kinda liked Kirstie.
She raised her kids in Montana, outside of Hollywood, and she’s really only pap’d for her weight and Scientology. (And when she was with/divorcing Parker Stevenson.)
Wendy sucked big time! With her loud personality you would expect something out there but no, she sucked and I dub her the Kate Gosselin this season.
Kirstie and Ralph were huge surprises and love them both. That radio guy was horrible and I bet he goes first.
Poor Kirstie looked like a cow on its hind legs, but have to give her an A for effort and she does have personality PLUS.
she is wearing the hell out of some spanx, thats for sure! good for her for being confident enough to get out there & do that!
I totally caught DWTS last night and Kirstie surprised me and I guess many other viewers – She totally rocked it, she was AWESOME. Must note that Maksim is hot.
Wendy failed (meh)- she is the new version of Kate G.
Kendra (who I thought would be able to shake it was disappointing with Hugh Hef looking on) bump and grind is not dancing Kendra. Ralph did a great Fox Trot which I enjoyed
Sugar Ray was kinda robotic(sorry) but really Kristie shaked everything her mother gave her including the double kitchen sink (boobs)
She looked really good! And I’ve always liked Maks.
And Bellaluna, I kind of like her too, except for that Scientology thing.
I only watched one season of DWTS, the one with Laila Ali and Joey Fatone (shut up! He’s my fav NSync guy), but I forgot Ralph was going to be on, I may have to watch this season, too.
Yeah, EdithP, I agree with you on that one – the Scientology is a serious “minus” on her likeability scale.
I <3 LOVED <3 HER!! She was so graceful (yes, even as big as she is), and she moved with the music and kept the steps. She has everything to be proud of! Way to go, Kirstie!
You don’t have to be thin to be a good dancer. Grace is inherent.
I’ve always kinda liked her as well (minus the scientology). I kinda hope that she does well in this competition. She was definitely not the worst one, judging by the clips at the end.
I’ve never watched DWTS before, but I might tune in this season.
Considering she moves better than most skinny women makes her a champ in my book!
I don’t watch the show but caught some recap clips on TV this morning. Kirstie was awesome! Graceful despite being a bigger woman. Ralph was decent and Wendy SUCKED. She’s definitely the Kate G of the season with her stiff, robotic moves. Maybe she’ll improve? She (Wendy) looked scared.
I actually tuned into this mess just to watch the Karate Kid. Dang, he’s 49!!! How?! I can’t believe Kirstie is 60! Again, how?! She does need to lose weight for her health, but she is so vivacious that she wears it pretty well. I like her, minus the Sci thing. I think her and Ralph will go pretty far into the competition.
I don’t watch the show but the clips are everywhere. I have to give credit to Kirstie she danced great. I hope she sticks around long enough to lose some weight.(Not because I care but it’ll make her happy) I think Wendy will be the first to go of the dances I have seen.
Kirstie was wonderful in her enthusiasm and effort. She looked like she was truly enjoying herself and the chemistry between them had great sizzle. It would be hard not to root for them.
You know, from the neck up she looks damn good for 60. Something to be said about keeping your hair longer if you can carry it off.
Kirstie did realy good but she still comes off as all types of crazy to me.
I have to start by saying I love me some Wendy Williams, but my god.
Watching her dance(?) was like watching a tranquilized water buffalo stumbling around a mud pool.
I was actually cheering out loud for Kirstie…she was so good. She has always talked about loving to dance and she proved that she can do it! I’ll be rooting for her and Ralph Macchio this season. Romeo was suprisingly a little disappointing. I thought he could move better than that. I guess he inherited some of his father’s non-dancing genes after all…LOL
Ralph was good but Kirstie was AWESOME!! Girlfriend has rhythm and moves and sex appeal – I’m a fan! Oh yeah, and Wendy Williams really was awful – terrible really; both her dancing and her huge, enormous, in-your-face, can’t-see-anything-but boobs were embarrassing.
She did a great job…
I think I saw a Scientology rooting section. Did anyone else spy Kelly Preston in the audience?
Kirstie’s face looks good because she has that extra weight. I think it was Catherine Deneuve who said that after a certain age it’s either the face or the ass.
Was not a Kirstie Alley fan UNTIL last night. She has lost weight, is toned, and can she ever kick ass! She is the total package: She has the right attitude, the talent, the personality, and the work ethic to win. She totally ROCKED last night! Yowzer!!!
I don’t watch the show but I did watch the video. Fast forwarded thru the rehearsal schtick and lasted about 38 seconds into the dance. OK, she brought it, she’s sassy, but she tromped all over the floor. I didn’t see any glide at all. Did I not watch long enough? Cause it was painful enough as it was.
Shocked. I was just shocked at how good she was! She was really graceful and amazingly light on her feet. Wow. Good for her. I actually thought Ralph Macio looked kind of manic and jerky when he danced- he was good, but not very smooth in my opinion.

I can’t believe after Kate Gosselin that Tony’s ended up with Wendy Williams. And yet he keeps a smile on his face. Good lord, they need to throw him a ringer next season to make up for it. Poor bastard, she really is bad and then she didn’t stick around long after the show, he had to do most interviews solo. Probably couldn’t face them (NY would still be there an hour later honey).
Often the professional athletes have an edge on DWTS, and sure enough, Sugar Ray Leonard was one of the odds-makers’ favorites this season. Turned out he was so-so, but wide receiver Hines Ward was delightful! Did any other football fans notice Steeler legend Franco Harris waving a terrible towel in the audience?
Like Kirstie, Hines seemed loose and like he was having fun, and both of them were light on their feet, had really expressive faces, and really moved well with the music!
I honestly thought Kirstie Alley was going to be the train wreak going into this thing but she absolutely blew me away!she let her personality come through and she proved that size and age have nothing to do with how good of a dancer you could be.She was sexy and you could tell she was having a lot of fun with it.Hope she makes it to the finals.
Ralph Macchio was a big surprise he was so good!Unfortunately like many of you have said Wendy Williams was a big disappointment for me.
My 2 hopefuls going in last night were Ralph (love me some Karate Kid, and he hasn’t changed a bit) and Kirstie. I know she had a lot of bad rap going in, but wow! Neither one disappointed. In fact, they took the top 2 spots!
I was so hyped that I even got my husband to watch the WHOLE SHOW with me last night, just to see Ralph and Kirstie.
I hope those 2 get really far!
From what little I saw of her “I’m Fat” reality show a few years ago her kids seemed really bright and well brought up. I know Sciento is supposed to be horrible and all, but I was impressed by her kids. Maybe it depends on the person? Kristie and Juliette Lewis seem like cool people, on the other hand the Tomkat situation is just bizarre and creepy.
Anyway, was glad to see Kristie show that a 60 year old big girl can move! Remember how pathetic Kim K was on the show?
I hope Kirstie takes it all. I don’t watch DWTS, but I do like Kirstie, despite her scieno bullshit religion. She is funny. And, girl can obviously dance. She hit it out of the park….on the interview and the dance number.
I liked Kirstie’s performance she seemed light on her feet and seemed to be having fun. I am glad that Maks got her as a partner, it’s a big change from Brandy.
Brandy was good last year, but she always seemed so uptight and took it way too serious. Kinda like her life depended on it. Ughh.. as much as I was rooting for her, that turned me off big time.

Odette, Look Who’s Talking is vastly underrated, in my opinion. Just a cute little movie. She dances with John Travolta in that movie, a bit. You know he dances in all his movies. HE should be on DWTS!
And I’m old enough to have watch The Hardy Boys on tv and LOVED PARKER STEVENSON. Sorry, got carried away. He was so cute, I was glad when he married Kristie.
Kirstie did pretty well, but I only tuned in for Hines and caught KA at the end of my dvr. Go Hines! He did really great. Wooooo!

Tony did get a good dancer last season; That Audrina ceiling eyes girl from the hills. She was a good dancer, but it was hard to get past her creepy eyes.
Ill be rooting for Kristie and Ralph. I always liked watching Kristie until everything became about her weight. She’s actually an awesome actress and fun to watch on everything she does. I’m hoping Kendra is the first to go, she’s just annoying and phony in everything she’s in.
I only planned to tune in for Hines Ward, but wound up watching the whole thing. I think the best were: The first girl (sorry, don’t remember her name–the young blonde from the Jonas show), Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley. She was great! I wasn’t just impressed with her technique and lightness of her feet, but she wasn’t all sweaty and short of breath at the end. For an older and heavier lady she seems to be in good physical condition, so good for her. 🙂

DWTS bored the hell out of me until last season when Jennifer Gray was so great.
It’s hard for me to get through the horrible commentary so I have to record the show and fast forward it through all the crap and just watch the dances and scoring.
Ralph Macchio (he doesn’t age) and Kirstie Alley (wow: 60 … really?) were both great. Wendy sucked (BTW: she had to leave after the show to fly back to NY so she can tape her show.)
I think Romeo and Hines will get better as the weeks go on … they both have great dancing personalities.
I think Psycho Mike … or whatever his name is … will be the first to go because Wendy has too many fans who will vote until there is no tomorrow.
Seeing the Terrible Towel in the audience was fun … and I did notice the Scientology wing.

I think, based on first dances, that Kirstie and Ralph will be in it for a while, both because they are the most known, and because they are the best dancers.
Kirsti is older than 60 she took 5 years off over the years. And lots of overweight people can move. It’s just a stereotype that they can’t.
Don’t think it will affect the anti fat acceptance in this country.
I don’t judge a book by it’s cover and that includes non PC books.

Loved Ralph and Kirstie, they were my favorites, but I wouldn’t count out Kendra. I totally expected to hate her and I didn’t.
Kirstie is losing weight and looking fabulous, she has a good chance of winning because she dances with confidence and grace. I liked the way Kendra danced too even though the judges didn’t giver her a high score. Wendy did really bad. Ralph danced pretty good.

Kirstie was great! Who gives a crap if she’s a Xenu lover??? I’m an atheist and I don’t go around saying, for example: “Oh, he is a great dancer except he’s a weird Christian”. People are such hypocrites in the US. Freedom of religion–one of the main reasons our country was formed, remember??? So, what if some people worship unicorns…what’s that got to do with her dancing/ability? Gee!
