Paul McCartney is engaged: is she another con artist golddigger?

wenn5416495

Remember when Paul McCartney fell head over heels in love with a crazy, one-legged, pathological liar, ex-hooker and con artist? Good times. Well, out with the Crazy and in with the Normal! According to People Magazine, Paul McCartney has proposed to his girlfriend of several years, Nancy Shevell. Nancy is 51 years old, and she apparently has her own money. She met Paul when the two were neighbors in The Hamptons, I think, and when she was still married. There have been engagement rumors before, but I think this current round might be true:

Paul McCartney and his girlfriend of four years, Nancy Shevell, are engaged to be married, sources tell PEOPLE.

“Nancy and Paul are getting married,” a source close to Shevell, 51, a New York businesswoman, tells PEOPLE. “Ring and all – very exciting.”

The Beatles legend, 68, started dating Shevell in the Hamptons during the summer of 2007, and despite their 17-year age difference, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE they were a perfect pair.

“They have the right chemistry,” the source said. “They’re both cool, chilled out and optimistic.”

The couple most recently stepped out on Monday for a gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

In Love
This will be McCartney’s third marriage: He married Linda McCartney in 1969 and Heather Mills in 2002. While his marriage with Mills ended in a messy divorce in 2008, McCartney didn’t seem hesitant to give love another shot.

“I just like being in love,” he said of his budding romance with Shevell in 2008.

His fiancée even won over the kids – McCartney has five children: Heather, 48, Mary, 41, Stella, 39, James, 33, and Beatrice, 7 – and, in 2009, a source close to Stella said the fashion designer was “thrilled for her father.”

[From People]

Yeah, Stella HATED Heather Mills, so basically anyone Paul chose from here on out would be better. From what little I know of Nancy, she seems low-key, and that’s probably good for Paul. He seems like the kind of man who doesn’t know what to do with himself if he’s not in a relationship. And I don’t mind the age difference either – I mean, hey, it could totally be worse.

Meanwhile, my mom is going to be so upset that she got passed over AGAIN!!!

  1. Rhiley says:

I love Paul but I am wondering when exactly did he turn into a woman.

  2. Happymom says:

She looks really good for 51.

  3. hairball says:

She looks outstanding for 51. He needs to not get married again. Just enjoy the company.

  4. Slim Charles says:

Yes! He looks very feminine. Too much surgery? I hope he finds happiness with her.

  5. PrettyTarheel says:

    Dear Sir Paul,
It’s ok to bang them-you don’t have to marry them. Just like being responsible when you’re driving, or riding a bicycle, or banging the flavor of the month, you have to be responsible getting married too. You’ve experienced the devastating loss of a good partner, and the extreme joy of kicking a gold-digger to the curb. Why not just shack up if you want to?

  6. ! says:

Exactly what is that supposed to mean Rhiley? He still looks like a man to me. And if you’re talking about his propensity to fall in love quickly, you’re apparently not familiar with his decades-long reputation for being almost incapable of writing a song that isn’t about love. He’s always been this way.

@PrettyTarHeel…it appears as though he’s doing what he wants. If the man wants to feel and value other human beings, that’s his right and choice, and it seems callous and shallow to encourage him to do otherwise.

  7. Zelda says:

    @!
I think Rhiley is talking about the fact that he looks like a lesbian. Because he looks like a lesbian.
Seriously: Cynthia Nixon, this is your wife in 30 years.

  8. bros says:

questioning her fashion choices, but she looks great for her age. Paul is looking rather feminine, I agree, but he always did have a weak chin.

  9. brin says:

Yes, the has money and seems to have class…I don’t think there will be any surprises here.

  10. LindyLou says:

I hope things work out for him this time. Not getting a golddigger vibe from this one.

  11. Wastevine says:

I am happy to hear about this, coming from Paul, who seemingly is an eternal optimist when it comes to love.

Heather Mills was absolutely atrocious, and the idea that her peg leg was in fact a shovel to dig out the millions never phased anyone, least of all his children. I wish men, fathers, would learn that if your kids don’t like the woman there is probably something there to talk to your therapist about.

That said, I can’t imagine being Paul, and losing the one and only true love of his life waaaay before was meant to be. I feel for the man, who then became embroiled in an actual relationship/marriage with child to that unfortunate buck toothed, half smile, crazy eyes always on the prize, pathetic excuse for a human as his next choice. UGH. I will chalk that mistake up to a big, fat, huge rebound where Sir McCartney was certainly not of right mind.

This woman looks great for her age, and as far as I am concerned, there isn’t a real age difference. They most likely remember the same events in history, have a good feel for their own power as professionals post the age of 40…this seems like a good fit. I will be interested to see if he has another child, but perhaps this will wind up to be a long lasting companionship for him that he so deserves.

  12. Nanea says:

I don’t get why some men are serial marriers in this day and age.

  13. WhiteNoise says:

He needs to do something about his hair. It’s just wrong. If it’s supposed to make him look more youthful, it’s really really really not working.

Anyway, she seems nice, and very attractive, so good for them.

  14. TQB says:

Say what you will about him in still photos – I saw him in concert a couple of years ago and he is MAGICAL on stage. Adorable and charming. I swooned. My husband and I held hands and cried through the whole concert. It was amazing.

Whatever makes Paul happy, makes me happy.

  15. beth says:

he should get his bloodhound pouches tucked; that said, i think he loves love, and she loves him.

  16. Kim123 says:

Congrats Paul please get a prenup. Kaiser- It’s Clooney’s bday today.

  17. seVen says:

Off Topic : Dear Demi Moore,

Thats what a good looking woman in her 50s is supposed to look like.

On Topic : Hes the Liz Taylor (RIP) of the males!

  18. ! says:

    @Zelda

Well that’s a glaringly tacky heteronormatative and misogynistic thing to say. What are you, five?

  19. lucy2 says:

Hopefully it works out for them, she doesn’t seem like a gold digger and if the family is good with her, it will be a lot easier for everyone.

All the “woman” talk reminds me of how Craig Ferguson shows a photo of Angela Lansbury when talking about Paul! (he uses a photo of Liza Minelli about himself)

  20. Zelda says:

    @!
    I’m a 29-year-old bisexual with a sense of humour.
    What are you, miserable?

  21. Esmom says:

HIs hair color is unfortunate. It’s like he’s desperate to hang on to his “mop top” image. Natural gray/silver would be much more flattering.

  22. lrm says:

omg!!! she looks like a brunette heather mills! at first i thought those were old pics!!! Also she looks wildly young almost surreal for 51!

    I wish him/them well.
Paul M. is sweet, adorable and probably a nice man. Nice lifestyl he has, as well.

  23. Samihami says:

After the hell he went through with the crazy one, I say good for him.

And I don’t understand why people say he “needs” to have cosmetic work done. He only “needs” to do what makes him-and his bride-happy.

  24. Rita says:

I do hope this is a good relationship and in my opinion, Paul really looks spry and well preserved, especially for a 68 year old rocker (that’s almost 70 for the math challenged).

  25. kazoo says:

wouldn’t it be weird if this one was missing a leg too?

  26. original kate says:

for those who think paul is a bit feminine: i don’t think it’s from plastic surgery. as men age their testosterone levels drop, which makes them look a bit softer – that’s where moobs come from.

anyhoodle, i hope paul gets a pre-nup this time.

  27. Zelda says:

    @kazoo
I don’t know why but the wording of that made me laugh very hard. Too funny.

  28. BW says:

I thought Paul looked like an old lesbian in that second photo, too. I don’t mean that in a mean way. I just wasn’t paying attention and thought he was a woman in very manly clothes. He always had a very feminine face, so cute. I don’t think he’s had work done, or he’d look smooth and pulled, and he’s definitely wrinkled and saggy. I think it’s just how he’s aged.

I’m her age, and I think I look like her. I probably don’t. I think her forehead is too smooth, botox, cough cough. She looks good though. I wish them both well.

  29. Rhiley says:

I love Paul, I do. I think he has hands down written some of the best pop music ever. I recently downloaded the song he wrote for the movie Everybody’s Fine. It is such a sweet, loving song, very much how I imagine Paul to be. That said, I just wish he’d leave his face alone. He is pulled so tight and that awful shoe polish brown hair makes him look like Julia Child. Seriously, I think I read that Meryl Streep just barely beat out for the role in Julie and Julia.

  30. harfang says:

I agree with @original kate, I don’t think Paul has had surgery and I’ve seen that same thing happen to my parents’ friends and stuff. I do think he’s not very fit and should probably get more cardio-type stuff in.

I know everyone said it but holy flucking shtit, I guess if anyone can make off with a vaguely age-appropriate lady who looks like that, it would be the surviving Beatle who is not Ringo.

  31. Rhiley says:

@Kazoo, that was awful (but so damn funny at the same time).

  32. Kim says:

She is super wealthy herself so i doubt a gold digger. Why he feels need to get married YET again as his age is weird but to each his own.

  33. L says:

This is a guy who has never not been in a relationship. Even before Linda-he always always had a girlfriend. He doesn’t know how to be single.

Hopefully he wised up and got a prenup this time.

And he might not look like he’s in shape-but I saw him in concert 2 summers ago, and the man played and sang for 3 hours straight PLUS 2 encores without a break. He’s at least in performance shape.

  34. kazoo says:

@zelda, thanks! your cynthia nixon observation made me laugh too.

@rhiley, sorry. LOL. but it was the first thing i thought of.

  35. Janna says:

This woman is wealthy and was a friend of his and his deceased wife – well, she and her husband were. She’s been a career woman. She’s classy. He’s lucky. She doesn’t need him, so she, obviously, loves him. I saw her in a bikini in a photo of them and she has a hot figure.

  36. BeckyR says:

I think Paul, having had a very happy and long marriage to Linda, is the “marrying kind” and enjoys marriage. This is a lovely tribute to Linda in a way.. I am glad Heather-from-hell did not spoil his optimistic outlook. Wishing him happiness. He deserves it.

  37. islandwalker says:

She is filthy rich on her own. She doesn’t need his money so there is a hope.

  38. OXA says:

She is a successful business woman with her own wealth and is a cousin of Barbara Walters.

  39. ladybert62 says:

To answer the question in the headline – NO! Everything I have read about her says she is rich and really very very nice. I hope he finally finds happiness after his marriage from hell with the one-legged gold digger!

  40. Nancy says:

I don’t think she’s a golddigger but I do think he should hold off on getting remarried again it really isn’t necessary especially at his age.

  41. Leek says:

    Wow…she’s a good looking piece.

  42. jo says:

If his daughter Stella approves and likes her along with his other kids than Im sure she’s genuine. Apparently she is a businesswoman from NYC and philanthropist. She’s also a breast cancer survivor so is able to understand his late wife’s (Linda) own struggle with the disease. Good for him…I wish them the best!

  43. gg says:

Love these two together. ITA with originalKate. And still, he looks pretty good for 68. His hair issues probably stem from being thinner, so it’s fluffier than before.

@! – Seriously, you’re wasting your time with the indignation; this is Celebitchy. We’re snarky and bitchy here simply for our own entertainment, and we’re also just joking. Maybe lighten up and take off the politeness filter before checking in here, and you’ll get it.

  44. Judy says:

This woman is related to Barbara Walters…Babs talked about it incessantly on The View when they first started dating. And Paul needs a facelift badly…he is starting to resemble a woman.

  45. Judy says:

    !May 6th, 2011 at 1:09 pm @Zelda

Well that’s a glaringly tacky heteronormatative and misogynistic thing to say. What are you, five?

    ****************************

Unlike you trying to show your superiority with big words, one of which no one uses.

  46. normades says:

He is quite the serial monogomist.

Stella’s dresses are crap, but I think she’s a pretty good judge of women for her dad.

  47. alexandra says:

S#it he looks like my aunt!! nOT A good look

  48. Deven says:

Those of you who throw around the term “at his age” haven’t got a clue about what it’s like to be his age. People don’t sit around waiting to shrivel up just because they’re older. I would say he, for one, has plenty of life left. If he enjoys being married, what’s it to you if he wants to be married? He has the health, wherewithal, and desire to be married to this lady. Get off his back and just wish them happiness!

  49. Richie says:

WOW!!! She looks fabulous for 51! when i saw the the top pic i was like there goes the Ol’ man with another young mama!!! I wish them all the best! I really hope these two will last! I hated heather mills!!

  50. janna says:

he certainly has a type- plain and flat-faced….

  51. Zelda says:

    @Deven
One of my favourite quotes about aging is from Gloria Steinem who, in her 50’s, mentioned that people always said she looks good for someone in her 50’s, to which she would reply (and I’m paraphasing) “No, this is what someone in her 50’s looks like”.
It just made me sensitive to the whole “for X age” statement.
I get it. You don’t want to hear you are anything “for your age” really. Be it young or old. I’d love to say the woman above looks great for 51–because she bloody well DOES–but at the same time, the whole “for your age” thing IS an odd qualifier. It must be awkward to hear to your face, at least.
I’m not saying the whole phrase is bad, but if I heard it about myself–whether to refer to my relative youth or age–it WOULD feel a touch backhanded. No one wants to hear “she’s really together for a 21-year-old” or “she’s really attractive for a 50-year-old”. Just that you are together or attractive, period. As though certain attributes can only belong to one age group or another and that otherwise, they need to be justified.
Again–not that the sentiment itself is wrong. Just that it is odd, in a way.

  52. LunaT says:

I can’t get over the fact that his fiancee and oldest child could’ve had playdates together when they were kids. Ewwww.

  53. Amy says:

She is related to Barbara Walters! I remember Barbara also talking about it when they first started dating, she’s her cousin or something.

So I guess we know at least Babs will get invited to the wedding.

And yes she does look fabulous for 51 and I’m going to say that’s all natural. I wonder if that’s from staying out of the sun?

  54. Caz says:

#11 “right on”. My best friend’s soul mate passsed away very early on (they were both in their early 30s) and she has floundered in her relationships since. Rules for anyone contemplating a serious relationship in their 40s and above (esp when there’s assets & money) – listen to friends and family esp if they don’t like the new partner, safeguard your assets and keep your head on. I hope Paul is really happy this time around. Lucky lady, bagging a Beatle. At least she’s close to him in age.

  55. Andie B says:

Sir Paul is not the Liz Taylor of males..he would still be married to his first wife had he not been widowed. As for his appearance..he’s a 69 year old Grandfather..is he not allowed to look like one because he’s McCartney? I’d lose respect for him if he had plastic surgery. He is unique and a one off, and I wish him and Nancy lots and lots of happiness.

  56. Chris says:

Imagine if he hooked up with Yoko Ono. It’s easy if you try.

  57. Alix says:

Sir Paul needs to give up the hair dye and/or piece he’s wearing — it’s beyond unbelievable at this point.

I think this marriage will work. He married Mills way too soon — still grieving over Linda and not thinking clearly enough to see the dollar signs in psycho Heather’s eyes. And it’s always a good sign when the kids like dad’s intended (and they all hated Mills).

  58. Jane Q. Doe says:

#51 Zelda – I totally agree! I’ve always thought the ‘for your age’ qualifier was sort of insulting. If you look good, you look good, and that should be that. There’s only one alternative to aging (besides lying like a rug), and it’s pretty permanent!

Also, I’m confused as to why people think he shouldn’t get married again, as if you only get 3 shots, and then you just have to live together. Sometimes, when people are in love and want to spend their lives together, they get married.

  59. dr.bombay says:

ugh, she looks like SOMEONE and i can’t think of who…i hate that!!

  60. jc126 says:

I hope she’s not a golddigger. Thought I read she came from money already. Best of luck to them.

  61. khaveman says:

I think Paul should find a good plastic surgeon to lessen his jowels. A great man and artist, but a little tuck would be ok. She seems like a good future wife for him. She looks calm and confident.

  62. Lushus L. says:

There’s no fool like an old fool…on the hill! 😉

  63. Chris says:

I’m glad Paul has found someone new. I remember when he broke up with Heather Mills and he was asked if he would ever consider going down on one knee again and said he’d prefer it if we called her Heather.

  64. jemshoes says:

Best wishes to Sir Paul. Hopefully this marriage will bring him as much happiness as his first to Linda. 🙂

  65. Hakura says:

@! – I’m with Zelda & Judy. Get a grip, put away your thesaurus, & pull the rod out of your ass. It was just meant to be funny.

I’m really happy for Paul. I have to give him some major credit for being willing to take another chance, after what he went through with Heather. He deserves to be happy though, & they’ve been together long enough for him to know that he can trust her & move forward. Good for him. =)

  66. KCT says:

The fact that they’ve managed to stay out of the tabloids over the past four years says a lot about their relationship.

Seems like when some men age, their face looks longer, ears get bigger, etc. At least he doesn’t look fake.

  67. Lushus L. says:

    TEAM RINGO! All the way!!!

  68. Diane says:

Paul, you should have married Jane Asher back in the day, instead of cheating on her. At your age, it’s not necessary to marry this one…

  69. Katy says:

I can’t believe she’s 51. Not only is she very pretty, but it looks like she’s got a nice body.

  70. treasa says:

Also wish people would quit saying Paul looks old & should get surgery. What kind of freaks would want to send a man your father or even grandfather’s age under the knife for the sake of a few silly photos??!! Sick.

  71. Julie says:

Obladi oblada, Paul is in the market place for Linda 3 (hopefully) – best of luck!

  72. LunaT says:

Paul has already had plastic surgery. Does no one notice this but me?

  73. bluhare says:

Hurt him and we will cut you, Nancy.

  74. JenJen says:

Kaiser and #1 made me snort.

  75. Kiska says:

He has not aged well…I wish he’d cut his flipping hair.

  76. JenJen says:

@Zelda, whatever it’s name is, obviously does not have a sense of humor. I would not want to be around “it”!!!

  77. Kelly says:

I wish him the best, but she is too young for him. I’m her age and I was 5 when the Beatles broke up.

  78. Truthzbetta says:

Does Paul McCartney solve mysteries in small seaside towns in between writing popular novels?

Because he now looks just like Angela Lansbury.

  79. Zelda says:

    @Kelly:
If you’re her age, you were 10 when the Beatles broke up, no?
    *confused*

  80. Yasmine says:

In that last picture she kinda looks like Kate Middleton. Don’t know if that’s a good thing.

  81. blouson says:

Hahaha…I saw the photos and thought…Wow, Nancy looks like Heather Mills and Paul looks like a lesbian…appears I am not teh only one. On a more shallow and snarky note…she is beautiful and I wish them all the best. Who cares if they marry or live together. Their choice. They are all big kids now so I say “(music swells), “Let them be, let them be, let them be, let them be…

  82. really says:

he only truly loved Linda McCartney …… so it really does not matter who he hooks up with they will never be Linda in his heart!

  83. riri says:

He is amazing to give LOVE a chance again.

Why are you guys so mean to Heather Mills?

Yes, it didn’t work out. Those things happen and we don’t know what went down between them.

He likes to be inlove- good for him!

  84. Ja says:

It must be a slow news day, since you are trying to make a story where there’s none. I’d bet my money on the fact that Paul’s third marriage will be a boring affair (to media) and it will last “forever”.

  85. Brianna Mandrekas says:

YES!!! She is definitely another Heather Mills no doubt. As a life long fan of Sir Paul I believe she is NO different than Heather except that she isn’t ugly and doesn’t show that she’s a bitch. Do you remember back in 2002 when Heather came into the picture and EVERYONE said the SAME thing about her as they are about Nancy Shevell? Little suspicious to me, any others?? Nancy may seem good for Paul now but the last name McCartney doesn’t even sound good with her name. See listen, Nancy McCartney. NASTY! Nowhere near as good together as Linda McCartney. What bugs me most about this is that a good friend of Paul has said that Nancy reminds his friend of Linda? Uh, Hell no, there WILL NOT be another Linda not even if she was friends with her back along time ago. Have you noticed that every woman Paul gives an engagement ring to he ends up breaking up with her? Jane Asher: Her and Paul got engaged on the Christmas of 1967 and broke up 6 months later because Paul had an affair. Heather Mills: Shared a 3 year marriage with Sir McCartney and had a daughter with him and sucked 4.0 Million dollars out of our dear sweet Paul. Nancy Shevell: was given an engagement ring 2 weeks ago. Anything yet??? Linda McCartney: McCartney being key word, they decided to just go down to Melbourne Registry office on March 12, 1969 after Paul had suggested the marriage and she said “What the hell?” 30 years later they were still married (until day of death). She had 3 of his kids and has made an imprint on Paul forever. To this day he is vegetarian. All she had on that finger was a wedding band and that marriage is known as the most successful famous marriage. Paul and Linda were in love, for real not this bullshit that Paul is trying to pull off as the engagement to Nancy. If anyone agrees thanks for agreeing!

  86. Kelly says:

Zelda, to be painstakingly accurate, I am 47, and that is pretty close to her age. The Beatles broke up in April of 1970 — I was 5, she was 9, give or take.

  87. Britt says:

Paul can’t have had a facelift because no bugger would pay to look like that. I would say its time to have it all liftedaway from the I.Angela landsbury look which let’s face it is more than halloweenish. And as for his hair…..well…I’ve got my head under the sofa with embarisment for him.
