Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert wed; also, some Followill got hitched too

I have no idea which of these wedding stories you want to hear about more, so you’re getting both of them in one post. Yesterday, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton got married in Texas, and on Friday, Caleb Followill of Kings of Leo married Lily Aldridge (Victoria’s Secret model) in California. Do you care about one of the couples more than the other? Personally, I care more about Blake and Miranda, but because I think Blake might have some issues (the alleged homophobia stuff) and I was stunned to see that Miranda – while very cute/pretty – is 27 years old yet looks a decade older.

It’s official: Miranda Lambert is a married woman! The 27-year-old “House That Built Me” singer wed longtime love Blake Shelton late Saturday evening at Texas’ Don Strange Ranch, the couple confirms to Us Weekly exclusively.

Wearing her mother’s wedding dress, Lambert walked down the aisle in front of 550 family members and friends (including Reba McEntire, Cee Lo Green, Martina McBride, Dierks Bentley, Charles Kelly and the Bellamy Brothers).

“I’m married to my best friend!” Lambert told Us after the ceremony. “Looking forward to a lifetime of laughter.”

Added Shelton, 34: “I wanted to be married to Miranda the day I proposed. Finally, it’s official!”

Dating since 2006, The Voice mentor asked for Lambert’s hand in marriage last May. “I fumbled it up a little,” he told Us of the proposal. “It’s funny how you rehearse those things and go over what you want to say, but I probably screwed it up.”

Fortunately, Lambert didn’t seem to notice. “He did a really good job,” she insisted. “He’s always nervous around me, though — and that’s how I like it!”

This is the first marriage for Lambert; Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams from 2003-2006.

It all sounds very sweet. I like that Miranda could have gone with some big designer wedding dress but she wore her mom’s. That’s cool.

Moving on… Caleb and Lily’s wedding sounded a lot more expensive and fancy:

It was a ceremony fit for a King and a Queen. When Kings of Leon rocker Caleb Followill wed Victoria’s Secret supermodel Lily Aldridge at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif. on Thursday, the couple were joined by Caleb’s bandmates and brothers, Nathan and Jared Followill, as well as his cousin, Matthew Followill.

Hours before the intimate ceremony began, Caleb, 29, and Aldridge, 25, enjoyed a family breakfast on the patio overlooking the garden. “Caleb and Lily had coffee and pastries and everyone sat around chatting,” a source tells Us Weekly. “There was a relaxed vibe and everyone took their time eating and taking in the nice weather.”

Once the meal was over, Aldridge and a girlfriend left to begin prepping for the 5:30 p.m. ceremony; Caleb and his family stayed behind, where they tanned by the pool, drank champagne and played horse shoes. “Caleb seemed very relaxed and not nervous at all,” the insider notes.

Aldridge, who wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown, and Caleb, who looked dapper in a Gucci suit, “said their vows underneath a big tree with twinkle lights” just before sunset. “Lily cried throughout the whole thing,” a second source tells Us. Once the ceremony was over, the couple and their guests had dinner in front of a big stone fireplace, the source adds.

“It was a perfect day,” Caleb told Us on Friday.

The couple spent their first night as newlyweds in the Lilac Cottage, a one bedroom cabin featuring a king bed, a masonry fireplace, heated bathroom floors and an outdoor sunken hot tub and rain shower. The price? $1,200 a night.

The following morning, “Caleb and Lily met with their family again for a big relaxed brunch,” the source says. “Everyone sat outside for hours chit chatting and talking about the night.”

Meh. See, this one is boring to me. Rock star marries Victoria’s Secret model. It’s such a cliché. At least the Blake-Miranda pairing has some drama!

Congratulations to everybody, though. Mazel tov!

Whoa that second to the last photo of Miranda made me think I was seeing a SERIOUS wardrobe malfunction.

    Congrats to the happy couples!

  2. Rita says:

Yeah, the rock star and model seem like a cake topping at a Hollywood “we’re suppose to do this” festival.

Blake and Miranda seem peas in pod and I hope they are happy. As for Blake’s attitude toward gays, the problem is with those who want to highlight their agenda with a whispering campaign, not Blake.

  3. badrockandroll says:

Oh come on, where is the morality squad? Miranda stole Blake, he was married to someone else when the two of them toured together and got it on. They are cheaters, and are thus doomed, right?

  4. Andrea says:

badrockandroll, When you put it like that….in 1995 when Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were doing the Spontaneous Combustion tour, Faith was married to her record producer and Tim was engaged to someone else. Yet they fell in love, and have now been married almost 15 years and still going strong. True love is true love.

  5. DetRiotgirl says:

The lingere model and the pretentious rock star are a total snooze fest.

I have to agree with @badrockandroll about Miranda and Blake. I don’t even follow country music, and I know these two came from some sort of sketchy homewrecking-ish situation. We call out all the other cheaters on this site. So, I’m not sure why they should get a pass just because they didn’t pull a Leann and all their dirty laundry out on twitter.

For the record, I don’t believe that a person can be “stolen”. I just believe that the same bad behavior should meet with equal bitchiness for every celeb. We either have to call out Miranda and Blake or we have to stop picking on Leann Rimes and Alicia Keys and I don’t know about you; but I haven’t worn out my all my good Falcor material yet.

I’d say the country wedding was ALOT more fun than the pretensious rocker and the model’s nuptuals.

  7. badrockandroll says:

I love real country music, especially the old stuff. I think what I like the most about it though is the moral dichotomy: how can music that is all about heartache, heartbreak, cheating and drinking have a fan base that condemns all that as sin sometimes but not all the time?

Some artists live the life and get a total pass. For instance, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash are celebrated as a monument to true love, but she was on husband #2 and he was a chemical cocktail married to someone else when they began their very long affair. Others (most recently, Leann, but also Jerry Lee Lewis) have their careers kneecapped because they are seen as immoral.

I don’t pretend to understand it (have some theories involving genuineness of talent, attractiveness and male/female double standards, but nothing fully evolved), but I do find it fascinating.

  8. I’m happy for them also, but I would really like to know if they will record a duet together. I like her songs and I like his songs.

  9. Zelda says:

    @Andrea
I agree. I left a wonderful fiance for my current partner, because I just couldn’t imagine life any other way. I’m sorry I hurt my fiance, but at that point, breaking our home up WAS the right thing to do. And it certainly wasn’t my current partner’s “fault” in any way. ALL MINE. And I know I made the right choice. These things happen, and life is not perfect. You just do the best you can with what you are dealt, and try to behave with as much respect and dignity as possible.

Now I’m not a country fan, but oddly enough I HAVE A TIM MCGRAW STORY:

Back when my sister and I worked in this crazy vintage shop, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and their road manager came in. She was exhausted looking and said almost nothing before leaving quickly but was gorgeous and tiny and polite. McGraw and his road manager were absolutely hilarious, running around the store with my sister and me, trying stuff on and cracking jokes. Believe me when I tell you, Tim McGraw goofing around in a Sonny-and Cher-style fur vest is something to see.
They spent 400 dollars but left us nearly 100 dollars as a tip, saying that they would have to exchange the cash later (it was Canadian) so we should just keep it for ourselves.
    Unbelievably cool, friendly guys.
    And Tim McGraw smelled amazing.

  10. Samigirl says:

Aw, I like the story of Caleb and Lily. They met on the filming of the “Use Somebody” video. I think it’s sweet, and Caleb is cute. Of course, like Ke$ha, I really, REALLY like beards. So. To each their own 🙂

  11. original kate says:

i love miranda lambert and i am happy for her and blake. i’m also a kings of leon fan but i am disappointed that caleb married a VS model; so predictable.

as for the homewrecking thing, i don’t know about miranda & blake. maybe his marriage was all but over anyway? who knows? at least they shut up about it and did not tweet their every move and publicly disparage their exes. cheating is not ok IMO, but what goes on in a marriage is really only known by the 2 people in it. people make mistakes, but i think there is way to handle infidelity decently; people like tori & dean, leann & her husband, etc. obviously don’t know how to do that.

  12. Crash2GO2 says:

Having never heard of Miranda and Whatsis, I had no idea of the particulars.

    Just sayin’.

  13. Allison says:

They seem so perfect for each other. <3

  14. Slim Charles says:

It’s weird that they had breakfast together the morning before the ceremony. I love the idea of a big family and friends breakfast, but wouldn’t it be nicer the day after?

  15. Mairead says:

On couple No1 – that’s nice, but who?

On couple No2 – congrats. Now to celebrate with a good shave for the pretty Caleb.

  16. Mizz Tickles says:

    great post badrockandroll 🙂

  17. Kisha says:

I discovered Blake Shelton on “The Voice” and thought he looked hot. However, the hotness fads fast when you hear both allegations of cheating and being a homophobe.

  18. Camille says:

    @Mairead: Hear hear! Agreed 😀 .

Don’t know who the 1st couple are and I don’t care, but the 2nd couple, yeah I too am disappointed that Caleb has turned out to be the ‘clichéd rocker’.
He’s still hot though (but could do with a shave and a good haircut!).

  19. Lantana says:

I can’t believe that’s Miranda’s MOTHER’S wedding dress. I just have so many comments on that I won’t make bc I do like both Blake and Miranda. I think Blake is up-and-coming in the TV/movie scene as he is so personable on Voice. And the homophobe stuff fits in more with the country singer image than most genres, so maybe it’s an act (or just ramped up). I think image-makers have more to do with how he’s perceived than he does.

  20. Melissa says:

How is the Kings of Leon wedding fancier? The country wedding had 550 guests, including some celebs, and it sounds like the rock star one was small and the only celebs were his bandmates. That said – yeah – rock star and model? Cliche!

  21. Maggie says:

Blake looks like he’s got a roving eye, and Miranda looks like she’s been rode hard and hung wet. She looks a LOT older than 27.
