Amy Winehouse bought & drank vodka on her way to rehab

Amy Winehouse has checked back in rehab. For the millionth time, it feels like. I’m too lazy to even try to look up how many times Amy has been to rehab, but I’m going to say “eight” feels right. According to a statement from Amy’s rep, she “has embarked on a treatment program at the Priory Clinic. She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.” Amy has already scheduled several gigs this summer in Europe, the kick-off scheduled for June 18. Can Amy pull it together in, what, less than four weeks?

Apparently, her dad Mitch was the one to instigate this latest rehab trip. According to People’s source, “Her dad sat her down and said ‘I think you’re drinking too much again.’ So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem.”

So, what did Amy do on her way to The Priory? She bought some vodka for the road. Of course.

TROUBLED AMY WINEHOUSE dropped into a cornershop and necked a bottle of vodka – while on her way to REHAB. The bedraggled star downed the miniature of Smirnoff at the counter before checking in for treatment at The Priory.

A stunned onlooker at Meadway Food and Wine in Southgate, North London, said: “She seemed out of it. She was stumbling about, slurring her words. I was shocked to see her buy vodka so early in the day, and even more shocked to see her knock it straight back.”

Just two minutes earlier, scruffy Amy – dressed in a tracksuit and sporting her trademark beehive – had stunned clients in a hair salon.

The Back to Black singer, 27, had stormed in to use the toilet at 12.30pm on Wednesday.
Horrified customers said they heard the tattooed ex-junkie VOMITING before she walked out, telling staff: “I just puked all over your bathroom.”

One punter said: “I felt really sorry for the staff. I think they were too scared to say anything.”

Last night her spokesman denied she had been sick, saying her comment was a joke. He added: “Amy’s embarked on treatment at The Priory.”

[From The Sun]

Poor Amy. And dear God, she STILL has a rep? That poor bastard. In case you think The Sun can’t be relied upon, People Magazine confirms the vodka story, with a friend of Amy’s telling the magazine that Amy downed the vodka on her way to the clinic “in typical Amy style.” As for whether or not THIS rehab trip will work… yeah, not so much. Amy just uses these rehab stays like other people go to spas. She just goes there to get some healthy meals, get some rest, get sober for two seconds and then she’s got her second wind and she’s ready to party again.

    Dear Amy…

I love your music…it touched me like Depeche Mode did when I was a teen…I mean, it really got me through some stuff…

However…Adele is steadily taking your career and running away with it…

Personally, I think the world would be a better place if BOTH OF YOU were in it…and performing…how about a tour together?…call it the “AA Tour”…

In fact…get into AA and REALLY WORK IT!!!

    Sincerely,

    A fan…

  2. Quest says:

Really did not need to see the upskirt pic. Amy probably buys the same brand Vodka as Linnocent.

  3. matt says:

Poor Amy indeed. I used to live around the corner from her and saw her at the pub a few times. I think she is a sweet girl at heart but she hangs around with a lot of losers and freeloaders in Camden.

  4. Crash2GO2 says:

Ugh. At least she is honest about being a mess. Unlike a certain blond American mess we all know.

  5. Ari says:

    Tragic.

  6. Bubbling says:

Uumm I supposed to go on her concert on 8th of June, and this was exactly what I was afraid of. Thank god, Moby will be there too. Poor Amy, I really feel for her, she is wasting her talent and more imoprtantly her life. If she was sober and clean I think she could have one of those not pretty but prominent, interesting faces

  7. Blue says:

She is someone I really wish would get their act together. So much wasted potential smh

  8. Stubbylove says:

Ditto to everyone’s thoughts above. Such talent wasting away…Adele is already way ahead of her. Put down the bottle & pipe Amy!!!!

  9. Beth says:

Addiction of any kind is a serious matter.. not a choice someone makes. I don’t think these judgmental posts are necessary. She has agreed to get help, and often it takes many years (and many attempts at sobriety) before a person is finally able to get it right.

  10. smith says:

Girl still walks down the street like she owns IT.

    Please get it together.

  11. LisaMarie says:

So sad and such a waste. Unfortunately not uncommon. I work in a hospital and we have several patients who are addicts who only come into the ER to get an IV and some sleep on occasion, then they’re right back to their vices. I hope Winehouse is able to kick her habit, but I’m not expecting it.

  12. djork says:

Ick. I’ll take Adele, thank you..

  13. Shannon says:

It’s a pretty common move for an addict to make, actually. Most arrive at rehab all hopped up on their drug of choice because they know how terrible withdrawal is going to be and they’re afraid of it, so they take the route of putting it off as long as possible.

  14. Kasey says:

I DO wish she could get cleaned up, look more attractive and do what she’s good at.

I honestly do NOT get the whole pull of alcohol (I think it’s disgusting but probably b/c I didn’t have my first drink until 26) nonetheless, I think she was just having one for the road because she was anticipating it being the last time or not for a long time. This is going to sound really bad but that’s the same thing I do before I do an overhaul of my diet. Especially when I’m having mild but annoying allergic reactions (itchy skin and ears, rash) I eat as much of the stuff I love as I can. Grilled cheese for breakfast, steakburger for lunch, chocolate soufle and snickers for dinner…….. because I know, come the next day it’ll be a long time before I eat that stuff again.

This may sound like a bad/useless comparison but I am also of the belief that sugar/corn syrup etc. may be just as, if not more addictive than drugs so I’m just making it harder to go without it but its just soooo good. I kinda understand this if its what she really did.

  15. K-Burrrd says:

That drunken covey of F.U. birds is glorious.

  16. Bee says:

Watching all of Amy’s problems make me so sad. Back to Black was an amazing album. At the rate she’s going it will probably be her last. She could’ve have had Adele’s career if she’d finally managed to kick drugs and alcohol.

  17. Bill Hicks is God says:

@Shannon: Exactly, and thanks for bringing that needed perspective to the thread.

  18. WhiteNoise says:

Damn. She seemed to be doing quite well for a while. Hope this is a positive move for her and not the beginning of a return to where she was. I really miss her fabulous talent. 🙁

    All the best, Amy.

  19. Bill Hicks is God says:

Actually, “perspective” was the wrong word because everyone’s been pretty fair-minded and supportive and what I should have said was “information.” My bad.

  20. girlygirl410 says:

The girl beat herion. I really hope she can use the same strenght to beat her alchol addiction.

I wish you the best, Amy!

  21. original kate says:

she breaks my heart. unlike lohan amy actually has an enormous talent. sad.

  22. Lantana says:

I don’t think it’s uncommon for people to drink on their way to rehab. It’s not so much “one last fling” as it is to try not to go into a full seizure before they get there. I know a woman whose son died ON the plane on his way to a rehab bc he was trying to cold turkey it…

  23. Kloops says:

How is her body still functioning?

  24. 4Real says:

Wasted talent…get it together already it’s just dumb now.

  25. Tiffany says:

Yes, the flock of drunken birds is my favorite as well! She is so thin, and looks so out of it, cept for the one pic walking where here face looks nice. So damn thin, though.

  26. really says:

sad she is sooooooooooooo pathetic, and blew a good career.

  27. MrsOdie2 says:

Exactly, Shannon. It’s like the meal you eat the night before you join Weight Watchers.

  28. RHONYC says:

    *guffaw-guffaw-guffaw*

’cause that’s how she rolls bitches!!!! 😆

  29. gg says:

She’s lost more weight and combined every ugly article of clothing in one go in the first picture.

    Hope she gets it together.

  30. alwayssurprised says:

I wish her the best. Maybe she should talk to Courtney Love since she reports to being so success full at this rehab stuff.

  31. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    I still miss Alan Wilder/Flood.

  32. Chris says:

As Shannon said it’s fairly typical for addicts to arrive at rehab waisted. It’s also fairly typical for them to go on a bender once they’ve booked in a date to go to rehab. The justification is “it’s okay to go hard for a little while longer because I’m about to stop.” Kinda like over eaters binging on food the day before the diet starts.

  33. Hakura says:

Everyone bringing up Adele in the comments made me try to imagine what a duet between she & Amy would sound like…It’d probably be either really incredible, or really awful… They’re so different.

@Kasey“I honestly do NOT get the whole pull of alcohol (I think it’s disgusting but probably b/c I didn’t have my first drink until 26).”

I don’t get anything out of it, either. My metabolism processes it SO fast, that within 10 mins, I’m so drowsy I can’t even function, dozing off. I don’t even get a buzz, let alone drunk (no matter how much I drink). This is also the case with medications, taking *maybe* 5 minutes to start working, & processing ‘time release’ capsules much too quickly so they wear off fast. A *real* pain in the ass.)

I *only* drink for taste these days, I don’t know what it’s like to be an alcoholic, but I have been addicted to a medication (Actually, I still am) for quite some time. So I can understand how difficult it is being addicted to something. It’s *hell*.

  34. foozy says:

she’s too much of a talent to end up lost on us….someone ought to really help!

  35. dee says:

shame on the bloger who wrote amy used rehab for meals shame on the bloger .
