These are new photos of John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their baby Ben, all in Paris over the weekend, presumably for a little Father’s Day vacation. Ordinarily, I might not care, but I haven’t seen photos of Ben since he was a newborn, and I enjoy seeing the little guy. Ben didn’t get John’s striking coloring, did he? I guess Ben is going to end up fair, like his mom. Sure. I’m also having some sock-lust with baby Ben – I absolutely love his itty-bitty striped socks here:
How cute are they?!? I want the socks. Y’all can have the baby, I’m over here having a moment with the socks.
Anyway, before they set off for Paris, John did an interview with Extra and he discussed the state of his marriage and how Scientology brings the closer together: “Communication is number one, but our church does a lot to help us keep together. When we have issues, we go settle it up. Almost every six months we go and do a retrofit of what we are thinking, what we need and want and we match it up with what the other needs and wants… If you don’t do that you kind of get stale a little bit. Certainly our children have kept us tied together.” I wish I was making these quotes up. My take is that John truly loves Kelly (I believe it), BUT he also loves dong. And it’s a deep love, and if it weren’t for Scientology, the love of dong might win out. That’s my “translation”.
John also discussed baby Ben: “Oh my gosh he’s amazing. He is so bright, cute, healthy and wonderful. He has a smile for everybody, he brightens everybody’s day. He’s quite a baby. He’s starting to crawl, he’s just wonderful.” Ben is a little cutie.

Ben is really cute and seems to have gotten the Travolta baby blues. I agree Kaiser, I think that John does love Kelly but these “retrofits” are getting him to stop thinking about penises. Sucks that he can’t just be who he is but if it’s working for them, but to each their own.
I always thought they had another kid to try to take the focus off Travolta’s press problems. Very sad.
I’m sure the Church does do a lot of keep them together. I mean, why would an org, who’s false prophet/founder that wrote down his belief that homosexuality is a deviant lifestyle, want one of their most prominent and vocal members to continue on in a marriage that is nothing more than two friends with a peculiar ‘arrangement?’
EDIT: And the funny thing is, Travolta can most certainly be who he is. It’s a very, VERY poorly guarded secret in Hollywood that he trolls these spas for dick. As long as he smiles with Kelly (who I’m sure he does love as the mother of his kids, but not in a heterosexual way) and has his nice family and flies his silly planes and talks about how great the Scientolocult has been for them, he can do what he wants. I don’t think he’s being told not to act on those desires like a lot of traditional Christian churches would want gays to do. I think he just lives the family life and gets his on the side when he wants to.

As for John’s comments, I don’t find love in them at all. Basically, he’s saying they take the marriage in for a six month tune-up. Where’s the “I love my wife and because I do, we make sure we get periodic counselling to keep things fresh”. Instead he says the church and the kids have keep them together.
I really feel sorry for that man. He seems to be begging to be let out.

Sorry Love Angelina I have heard personal accounts from gay men who work in spas JT makes no secret of his preference for men. Like normades said he’s pretty much begging to be let out of his closet. I feel bad for him because unlike Tommy-boy I think he’s got a good heart. I for one would be the first one to applaud him for coming out of the closet and exposing the hypocrisy and corruption of Scientology in Hollywood.
The little guy is very cute, and I like his little outfits! Regardless of his parents personal lives, they both seem to dote on their child. That’s really all that matters.

This is my take too. I can see why he keeps up the charade, but I’ll NEVER understand why she agrees to it. The baby is cute and I think he looks like John. Either the fake pregnancy rumors are false or they definitely used his sperm.
True @ mln76, that is alas what happens to undercover sexual orientation stars who think no one will ever tell. There are people who are not attracted to them and turn down their offers – then they tell the press and/or friends b/c why wouldn’t they if JT or the like had just hit on them.

Well mln76 they could be lying. My problem with people branding John gay, and being so adamant about it is that there is no proof. For a man like John Travolta, who is very famous, you know his face when you see it, you know his voice when you hear it, to be cruising spas looking for gay sex and not one person has a sherd of evidence of it, no texts, no nothing…it makes me not jump on the John is gay bandwagon. I don’t think it would hurt his career to come out of the closet. So he’s a gay man who is married with kids. He has his side activities and I am sure she does too. I’m sure that was an understanding from the very beginning and that is THEIR business. Point being one persons idea of love and marriage may not be another’s. You can feel sorry for Kelly but look at the lifestyle she lives, it’s not possible without John.

The inset one where they are hugging and the one where they are pulling apart. If they were kissing I would certainly have included a pic where at the very least their lips actually touch.
I don’t think anyone in the public eye owes it to us to disclose personal details of their sex lives. If he is a closeted gay, then that is between him and those in his family, and if they want to go along with the lie, that is their business.

@fanmore: Yes, John flew in with the supplies and a contingency of Scientology workers. They handed out water and proselytized the people who needed the water. Water is water but it shouldn’t come with a price attached.
I think that John should do whatever is best for himself and his family. And don’t forget that if he came out, it wouldn’t only affect his life, but his kids’ lives as well. I think that everyone’s welfare should kind of impact his decision.
Gossip girl, I completely agree 100 percent about water not coming with a price but sadly MANY religions proselytize when handing out supplies. I guess they figure that since they’re paying for the supplies, it’s their right to do so but I do wish they wouldn’t. People’s hearts and minds – and what they choose to hold dear there – should be respected and not attempted to be swayed by dire need.

A friend of mine who works on movie sets says it is well known that Travolta demands to have his long term partner on set with him. As reported by ENTY (not always a reliable source) Kelly has her own boyfriend. They may be great friends, they may have a marriage of convenience.

@Gossip girl I’m afraid I take your ‘a friend of’ reports with a big pinch of salt. I find it very unlikely a grown man would grab a teenager in a public place (Disneyland, no less!) in broad daylight, that’s crazy behaviour for any civilian let alone an actor. In fact I don’t know ANY gay man who would do so. It sounds like folklore and that homophobic stupidity where people think gay men can’t control themselves, backs against the wall, blah, blah etc etc..
I have no idea if he’s gay or not, though the photos seem to lean towards it being a yes, but he shouldn’t have to come out if he doesn’t want to and unfortunately it WOULD harm his career. Rupert Everett gave an extensive interview and wrote a book where he admitted that coming out as gay harmed his Hollywood career and it doesn’t surprise me. Hollywood is steeped in hypocrisy and rooted in money, bankable stars are gods, they wouldn’t risk offending middle America/conservatives and hence harming ticket sales by actually putting an out and proud man in a big budget family/action film. If it goes back as far as has been rumored, there could be a legitimate backlash over him having a fake marriage to cover it up and scientology would most likely release all information with their anti-gay stance. There has been backlash before over similar circumstances–just take a look at all those wonderful Oprah specials where she rips into couples who mutually decide to be open or are bisexual (if this is their arrangement) or gay partners who used the marriage as a cover. On the surface, it seems like its safe for him to come out, but scientology does hold the cards here that could affect how the public perceives it.

@ jocular – Obviously, you’ve not been to Disneyland. Yes, they have cameras. Yes, they have “normal-lookin’ folk” as security. But until you’ve been there on any holiday (or during the Christmas holidays – my daughter danced in the holiday parade) you’ve no idea how “anonymous” it can be. When you arrive upon opening and leave upon closing, and only manage to ride 4 rides…well, that’s a pretty good environment for “discretion.”
