The ‘Trespass’ trailer: Nicolas Cage’s wiglet vs. Nicole Kidman’s rubber lips

kidman11

A few weeks ago, I used this poster for the new Nicole Kidman-Nicolas Cage movie, Trespass, for the lead link. I couldn’t get over what the studio did to poor Nicole’s face, while most of you were downright frightened by Cage, not Kidman. Anyway, Trespass has a brand new trailer, and woo doggie, is it a work of art. Sorry, I meant “a work of fart.” This film will go down as The Epic Battle Of Nic & Nic: Wiglet v. Rubber Lips. I don’t know where to look – it’s like my eyes have no place to settle. Do I stare uncomfortably at Cage’s crazy wiglet and his wild over-acting, or do I watch Kidman’s magically inflating and deflating rubber lips and her breathy “sexy-dramatic” acting?

Okay, I know the Kidman-loonies are going to yell at me, but I think Nicole is WORSE than Cage here. As actors, both of them had potential at one point. Hell, both of them were primed to be the best actors of their generation at one point. But Cage fell to earth and these kinds of dumb movies are basically all he does nowadays. He knows how to “act” in them. Meanwhile, Kidman was hoping for a new career track and THIS is what she gets? Trying to contort her frozen BotoxFace into something resembling fear, and she just ends up looking… odd. Constipated? Confused? Like she’s thinking, “Why did my agent think was a good idea again?”

As for the plot… er… it’s derivative of about a dozen different movies. Like, Firewall, Dead Calm, Hostage, Panic Room, and assorted B-rated also-rans.

Funny story: this film will be released in theaters on October 14. It comes to DVD two weeks later! *headdesk*

Why are her eyes always bloodshot? Anyone to hazzard a guess.

  2. Whatamess! says:

    I love Nicole..Pure class

  3. Sloane Wyatt says:

From the trailer, ‘Trespass’ looks like a fun B movie! It’s a blast seeing the grandparents fight for their granddaughter.

I’m used to seeing Nic Cage wearing critters on his head, but Nicole should leave her lips alone.

  4. Christine says:

I agree about Cage’s performance; didn’t really notice Nicole’s. What I did notice was the absolutely idiotic plot line. And is the red dress picture of her wax statue? Jeez, Nicole….

That picture of her with the furry epaulettes is the worst I’ve ever seen. She used to be so freaking beautiful in the Practical Magic days. I just find this so sad. Not that she’s aging . . . just that she is so afraid of it that she can’t embrace it and do so gracefully.

    Helen Mirren is my idol.

  6. Jayna says:

I love Nicole. She’s been looking beautiful lately and her face looks good in the trailers I saw on tv.

    What are you talking about?
There is no such thing as “gracefully ageing” in front of movie-cameras.

Helen Mirren has talked very openly about the facelift she had a couple of years ago. She looks good because of it.
    And because she’s happy.

    I love Nicole!

@Thea – Just speculation on my part, but I’ve seen her wearing glasses. She might wear contacts on a regular basis and they might irritate her eyes. Hence, the bloodshot eyes. Like I said, I’m just guessing.

  10. coucou says:

Thea #1 – regarding her red regard, i can hazard a guess because i have the same problem – i had Lazik surgery done on my eyes and ever since then, can’t keep them hydrated enough. Even if i hydrate them with drops, they are still easily irritated, especially outdoors or in bright lights. And, yeah, when i drink or smoke, it’s even worse. SUCKS!

So … who are those people on that poster? Are they people? Or just crash test dummies? And why does she have hair dye all over her hands? Couldn’t they have ‘Shopped that out, or were they too busy working on the faces so we wouldn’t recognize these people and thereby avoid the movie? And who thought ANY of this was a good idea? So many questions, so little time.

  12. louiset says:

This looks like a horrible movie. It looks so cheesy and not in a good, fun way.

  13. Carolyn says:

Pleased to advise us Aussies are spared a theatre release – it’s going straight to DVD over here. Thankfully.

  14. PrettyLights says:

All I got out of that trailer is that Nicole Kidman has one expression, and it’s slightly lowered eyebrows – “look! I can still move my brows, aren’t you proud?” Those fish lips need to go, she looked much better with her natural lips.

  15. theaPie says:

She has panic disorder and hates to appear in public. My guess is she tokes up before the red carpet and interviews. Hence the red eyes.
