Scarlett Johansson’s newest D&G ads: what happened to her nose?!

scar2

At this point, Scarlett Johansson makes most of her money from her myriad modeling contracts rather than her “acting” career. Over the past few years, she worked as the face of L’Oreal, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Mango and Moet & Chandon Champagne – I think there are more, but those are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Oh! And Reebok. I forgot about them. What’s strange is that all of Scarlett’s ads seem to follow the same basic “look” – her hair is always light, usually in a platinum Marilyn Monroe coif, but sometimes she’s a light strawberry-blonde. She’s almost always reclining on something, which makes me think that she’s too lazy to bother with “posing”. And her mouth is almost always open, and a vapid, mouth-breathing expression is on her face. As I was looking at Scar’s old ads, I noticed the theme. It’s kind of scary how they all blend together. She’s not a good model. Perhaps that’s why Mango ditched her? Either that, or because she always looked so corpsey in their ads.

So these are Scarlett’s latest ads for Dolce & Gabbana. They’re for the makeup line – something for “Secret Eyes Mascara” and “the Creamy Foundation and Passion Duo Lipstick line.” Sure. ScarJo says about the mascara, “I’ll start with a light flirty look in the morning, then later I’ll want something fuller and more dramatic. Secret Eyes has a divine texture so you can feel free to layer.” Unfortunately, I have to say it: why would hire ScarJo if you’re just going to Photoshop her to the point where you’ve given her a pig nose? LOOK AT HER PIG-NOSE. It’s ridiculous. Scarlett’s real nose looks nothing like that. Jennifer Aniston had a similar Photoshop problem with some recent SmartWater ads too – some Photoshop wizard just loves to give women pig-noses. Ah, well. At least David Gandy isn’t grinding on Scarlett in these ads. That would have been too much.

Here’s what Scarlett really looks like, post-Sean Penn. That man did a number on her.

  1. Mew says:

Her head is tilted slightly back, thus the “pig nose”. It doesn’t take that much. It’s just not obvious as the skin itself has been photoshopped so the tilt of the head doesn’t show (for example, zero shadows under eyes, which doesn’t happen in nature).

  2. bros says:

kaiser, her nose looks the same! just a pic taken at an unflattering angle, not straight on. she has a decent bulbous tip that I think looks more pronounced at certain angles.

  3. zesty says:

I think I like the new nose better. She looks like Kate Winslet in the top photo. Photoshopping on cosmetic ads is so silly…what is even the point? Talk about false advertising.

  4. KLO says:

It’s the angle. Her nose looks the same as always.

  5. anait says:

When I saw the second photo I thought she was Ilary Blasi, Francesco Totti’s wife (he is a famous football player and she works in tv shows)

  6. Tammy says:

Still it looks like her only. Not like KRISTEN STEWART who was made to look like an alien in a recent magazine cover by excess airbrushing. Even the eyebrows were at a different planets

  7. Cherry says:

I agree with previous posters that her nose looks the same, it’s just a different angle. But the same cannot be said for the rest of her. That’s not her skin. Not her hair. Not her waistline. Not her eyes. Not even her hands.

  8. Quest says:

There is nothing like a good old fashion photoshop pic to get the oinker noticed.

  9. HotLatino says:

Her nose looks good, like she had it done, IK it’s only Photoshop but I don’t see a pig nose

  10. gee says:

I know it’s for a movie, but she HAS to go back to blonde. She makes such a beautiful blonde. I think she is so so pretty.

  11. Pyewacket says:

Never got the hype around this woman. She is pretty but not a raving beauty without the help of Photoshop. Her acting is marginal at best, and IMO, the only movie she was good in was Lost in Translation. I found her ridiculous in The Girl in the Pearl Earring, and anything else I have had the misfortune of watching her in.

  12. Nancy C. says:

i think she is beautiful. i dont understand why some sites bash her. she’s not a druggie or drunk. if she’s a slut then i missed something. she’s a good actress and beautiful. my nose look differnet in pictures too. must be a slow news day.

  13. Nancy C. says:

p.s. i think she poses the way they tell her too. then they pick the pictures they want to use. it’s not her ad campaign. she’s being paid to do what they want.

  14. taxi says:

They shoot her lying down because her boobs are real so they can. Fake boobs never pass the “full recline” test.

  15. rose80 says:

looks the same. it’s called different angles.

  16. curleque says:

That nose is ‘shopped. Yeah, the angle was probably not good to begin with, but I think they enlarged her nostrils in an attempt to de-bulbisize her nose.

I still don’t get why she gets these high-end and luxury contracts. She is just not pretty. Girl needs to focus on her acting career and stop chasing old men around the world.

  17. corey says:

She’s not good at acting, she’s not good at modeling soooo what is she good at?….Casting couch victim for sure.

  18. ladybert62 says:

I like her better as a blonde than redhead.

Isnt that the hollywood universal pose – lying down, with your mouth open, looking vapid, stupid and half drugged in a semi state of nudity – as if you are either just waiting for something to start or you are recalling something just finished.

Didnt all these types of poses start with Marilyn Monroe (sorry to those who are fans of MM – I am not one of them).

  19. WOM says:

I think her nose in the ads looks the same as her nose on the red carpet photo. But isn’t this her third nose? She had the bridge & tip thinned in her late teens. This nose looks different still — did she have the septum altered or the base narrowed?

  20. Tanguerita says:

    same nose, another angle.

  21. Kim says:

She narrowed the sides of her nose. Had bridge and tip thinned. She has done this very subtly a few times over the years. It looks good/natural i think since its minor tweaking and not changing her entire nose & she does it subtly in small doses. I hope she stops now though before she has a nose job looking nose a la Katie Holmes & Jennifer Aniston.

Im sure it was photoshopped in the ads as well making it look even slimmer.

  22. The Bobster says:

I used to call her “Putty Nose”.

Nowadays there seems to be less putty in that nose.

  23. The Original Ashley says:

She’s always had a piggy/bulbous nose. She had it worked on back in ’04? But it’s still there (guess they could only do so much).

Agreed with other posters she’s better as a blonde. She’s one of those women that just does not look good with brown hair. It makes her piggy nose stand out more. Case in point that SAT movie she starred in with Chris Evans. Look at her then and now and it’s like they’re not even the same person.

  24. The Original Ashley says:

Nancy C. – she used to be a slag back in the day when she was dating Benecio Del Torro/Jared Leto/Josh Hartnett, but I think she toned down when she married Reynolds [which always confused me since she was a smart slut (unlike some of the others] who got some good parts out of her bed hopping).

My guess is people dislike her because she’s a bad actress. I like the movies she’s been in but there’s no denying homegirl can’t act. Oh and her I’m besties with Obama thing she did back in ’08 might have something to do with it. You’re an actress, stick to acting. Leave the politics to those who know what they’re talking about.

  25. Camille says:

She’s fug and you’re right Kaiser- she is also a TERRIBLE model.

  26. laura says:

I can’t believe how many people here think her nose isn’t airbrushed – her whole face is airbrushed within an inch of its life…I don’t even recognize her in the second photo. I like her and her acting – it’s the companies that hire her who choose the ridiculous photos and EXTENSIVE airbrushing. The ads look horrible and fake; they’re not fooling anyone.

  27. Mimi says:

She looks completely plastic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she had more than her nose fixed.

She had a different nose a couple of years ago, but her nose job was one of the best in LA and second only to Ashley Simpson’s nose job which was done in the most superb way.

for some reason, even pretty girls like Scarlett fell the need to get plastic work on their face.

LA has way too many people doing those things to themself and it looks terrible.

  28. Leah says:

So she did have a nose job. She just looks so different without makeup. She reminds me of my grandma. She doesn’t have a “I’m a hot girl” personality either. She has more of a “How much prestige and acclaim can I get” kind of mentality. And her approach to acting is a “I’m not really sure what to do, so I’ll do as little as possible” sort of approach. I wish her well though. It would be great if we could see some sparkle in her shine through. She never seems happy in movies.
