Just a little while ago, CB wrote about Jennifer Garner’s appearance at the TIFF premiere of her new film, Butter. Jennifer looked cute in a pink cocktail dress, maternity style. Go here to review Garner’s ensemble – it was very appropriate and nice for a TIFF premiere. Unfortunately, Jennifer’s costar Olivia Wilde went all-out in this full-length Marchesa gown which… dear God. It’s too much. Aesthetically, it’s just too much gold, too much white sack action, too much sparkle and too gaudy and cheap-looking, which is pretty typical of Marchesa, in my opinion. But then we have to ask: was this appropriate for a TIFF premiere? Is Olivia Wilde a big enough star where she can get away with wearing a full-length gown and attempting to steal the spotlight from the film’s true star, Jennifer Garner? No, Olivia is not. Olivia is the new Kate Beckinsale. The over-dressed, try-hard fashion girl/actress.
Here’s Ashley Greene, fresh off of trying to ride Gerard Butler’s jock a few nights ago. Ashley wore Oscar de la Renta. Some of these girls… they make impeccably designed and tailored clothes look cheap. It’s just Ashley’s face, and her vibe. She’s wearing de la Renta, but it feels like she’s posing in a bikini on a men’s magazine.
And here’s Alicia Silverstone, also at the premiere. Meh on her outfit too.

The dress would look amazing on j.lo. Olivia isnt curvy enough- the dress doesnt have a shape, so without cuves it looks like a sack.
Dress, not so good – looks like something Elizabeth Taylor would’ve worn during her chunkier Richard Burton days (minus the cleavage, of course. But her face is BEAUTIFUL – holy smokes. Perfect makeup.
Olivia’s dress is gorgeous and it suits her. She wasn’t the only one wearing a ong gown at TIFF. Sarah Gadon wore long number at ADM premiere.
I like the dress a LOT! But I feel like it’s too much dress for her. She’s completely swallowed by it a la MaryKate or Ashley. From shoulders up, she looks beautiful. But I think it’s wrong choice for her. Maybe someone tall and statuesque like Tyra Banks or something. Olivia is sooo beautiful but she looks like she’s playing an angel or a ghost in a school play.
I like it, and her face is really stunning.
I’m actually diggin the dress. Maybe not for TIFF, but I definitely like it and think it looks great on her.
Marchessa dresses are getting more fug and costumey by the minute.

Hmmm Im not sure… the dress is gorgeous & she’s a gorgeous woman as well but something is a bit off… cant put my finger on it… maybe she’s a bit pale? I dunno… but overall she looks good.

This dress reminds me of what Angelina Jolie would wear. I think Greene’s dress is lovely, but something about her doesn’t match the loveliness of it. Alicia’s dress is terr.i.ble.
The checkmark eyebrows, big ass jaw bone…enough of her. I am sick of these mediocre actresses being shoved down our throats. Who is is behind these people trying to make them famous?

I read once that TIFF was supposed to be very casual fashion-wise. It is not Cannes. It is not Venice. So I would say Olivia Wilde, while looking beautiful in Marchesa, simply miss the mark.
I think Ashley looks good, its not over the top, nice lil neat look.
I can’t get pass Olivia’s elephant man jawline, dreadful, no further comment.
I love Alicia but the dress makes her look too frumpy.
Olivia’s forehead to chin ratio is massive, strong jaw and chin line–woooo!
IMO the only person that could pull off that dress is Angelina Jolie. The one thing that drives me crazy about Olivia is her face, every time I see her face her jaw line reminds me of a fish’s gills all puffed out.
I’m old and I think the dress is perfect for someone in their 60s+. Probably because it would hide all of those back lumps, the arm sags, and the knee droops.

You know, it really doesn’t bother me at all. A little costume-y, but still really beautiful.
I loved Olivia’s dress. And I was there. Although everybody did sign, mostly everyone just signed for the people right in front of the tent. But Olivia got really close to us (we were a bit off to the side – and could have gotten a better spot but in the end waiting for Anton Yelchin at Ryerson was much more worth it lol) but anyway…she got much farther the then the rest of the ladies.

Look her dress may not be to everyone’s taste, personally I find it ok but jsut because you don’t like it doesn’t mean she looks ugly. I mean I know some people may be horrified that she doens’t follow the crowd and put on a tiny black dress which is 2 sizes too small. But see olivia actually has this thing in her head called a BRAIN. Look this may scare people but some people actually own them.
