Salma Hayek in Bottega Veneta for the ‘Puss in Boots’ premiere: fug or cute?

I may have to borrow CB’s kid for a day trip just so I can go see Puss In Boots. What’s the rule with adults wanting to see animated kids’ films? I usually just roll my eyes whenever some adult tells me that so-and-so kids’ movie was awesome, but now I can feel you rolling your eyes at me when I talk about how much I want to see Puss In Boots. It looks SO GOOD. I’m a cat person, if that explains anything. Animated kitties… animated kitties with little swords and hats? I’m there.

Anyway, these are photos of Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas at the LA premiere for Puss in Boots. Salma wore Bottega Veneta, and I’m seriously disappointed. If you’re Salma Hayek, and you look like THAT and you’ve got that body, why are wearing what amounts to a shapeless brown sack (with a belt)? It’s not cute. Add to that the fact that Salma has her choice of so many designers (that her husband owns), and it’s weird that she chose this completely boring, unflattering dress. Oh, and what are the thoughts on her Farrah hair? Also weird, right?

Meanwhile, Antonio wore this bad ensemble, and I’m really tired of the Caesar haircut. GROW IT OUT, Antonio. What’s up with Antonio and Salma’s body language? Antonio’s wife Melanie Griffith was there, but Salma’s husband was nowhere to be seen… hmmm….

  3. whome says:

I think her outfit was good for a kids movies. nothing over the top or to sexy.

  4. Rux says:

I “borrow” my BFFs kids all the time so I can get a pass to see kid movies. The BFF practically throws the kids at me and asks that they see at twice back to back. I understand where you are coming from….You are not alone!

  5. Quest says:

I think Salma played it down for the kiddies and Melanie looks fab

  6. Malorie says:

Antonio Banderas looks SO MUCH like my father… It gives me the creeps!

  7. tapioca says:

Horrible dress, horrible hair – when you’re (smugly) married to a billionaire in the fashion industry then there can be no excuses! And what’s with the mustard highlights?

    Melanie does indeed look great.

  8. carrie says:

there is no body language between them(except he does the idiot with her) and their outfits are accurate for a kid-oriented movie

  9. jamie says:

I honestly think Salma would look cute/gorgeous in damn near anything, even a potato sack. So no, I don’t think the dress looks bad. Put it on someone else and there might be a problem. Melanie looks great too by the way.

You can dress appropriately for a kid’s movie without looking like a pile of dog poo.

  11. Cherry Rose says:

Antonio’s wife is the best dressed one there.

And I want to see Puss in Boots. I LOVE the Shrek movies, and I love kitties too, so a win all around!

  12. Green_Eyes says:

She’s dressed appropriate for a kids movie..not a fan of the Farrah do on her, but she’s still gorgeous,

Antonio is handsome so I don’t know why he hides it w/ that cut either.. Can we start a Petition to have him grow it out?

Mel looks great! A bit skinny, but still great!

LOL, when I was able to actually sit thru a movie in theaters (YOPD) I borrowed nieces… Or just went w/ hubby. No law says adults can’t go to animated movies:). Now I wait for them to come On Demand..I cannot sit still for the duration of a movie. I either get too stiff then can’t get up for a while…or my body won’t sit still and distracts others who paid to see the film not my out of control limbs.. Miss the theater, nothing like that huge screen and overpriced buttered popcorn to make the experience complete. Mean that w/o sarcasm!:)

  13. Lauren says:

Selma is so unbelievably beautiful. Antonio too..inside and out. AB has stood by all of Melanie’s addictions, always loved her thru all the pain & challenges. Antonio is the finest man in Hollywood – in my eyes..devoted, classy & sexy family man.

  14. Loralei says:

Your Antonio “family man” dumped a beautiful wife and small kids to run off with Melanie. His haircut sucks.

  15. Redd says:

Melanie looks great? No, she doesn’t. Melanie’s clothes look great. Melanie looks like something the cat threw up.

  16. They all look great.

  17. ShanKat says:

I love her dress! And I love her ombre hair. I think the flippy is fun.

    Melanie looks great, too.

I rrrrreally love Antonio, but the hair is less Caesar, more Boba Fett. Too sharp across the front.

  18. podzol says:

Usually I’m quite wary of dresses in varying shades of brown because it can look like someone did a number two on you (see: Christina Hendricks in that unfortunate Carolina Herrera number) but Salma pulls it off quite well! And Banderas is cheeky adorable as usual.

  19. A Fan says:

Very cute. This is someone who knows the styles that flatter her figure and colors that flatter her tones.

  20. koko269 says:

Selma Hayek is a beautiful and classy woman. That dress is not.

  21. autummleaves says:

i am looking forward to this movie! Love both actors. And Salma is of course another curvy woman that helped bring curves back, like J.lo. And I don’t like this dress
