Amber Heard ditched ‘Rum Diary’ co-stars (including Johnny Depp) after work

Amber Heard covers the December issue of Women’s Health, which paints a pretty complimentary picture (as well as a flattering photoshoot) of Amber as a very dedicated actress who also happens to be a voracious reader during her off-duty moments. Also, remember that ridiculous story from In Touch about Heard abandoning her lesbian ways for Johnny Depp? That little rumor gets dispelled in very short order as well:

On Keeping Work At Work: She won over Rum Diary director Bruce Robinson and, it would seem, her costar Johnny Depp. When some of the cast went out to blow off steam after a day of shooting, she would disappear. And at the end of filming, says Robinson, “I remember Johnny and I saying, ‘Jesus, where’s Amber?'” What young actress passes up drinks with a film god like Johnny Depp? One who prefers to make an impression on the job, not off it. But also, one who was in a serious relationship at the time. With a woman.

On Keeping A Fitness Routine: If a routine is broken, it’s easy to backslide into laziness. So keep telling yourself, I want this. Because after you get into a routine, your body will want it. “Once you start working out, you feel better and it becomes something you make time to do,” says Amber. Many women hit the gym to look better, but that can’t be your only motivation. Otherwise, you’ll feel discouraged when you don’t see results fast enough. “It’s about feeling healthy,” says Amber. And that’s something that happens the minute you make a positive change.

On Her Exercise: “I personally run, just because that’s all, for me in time management, running seems to be the most time — accommodating exercise to do. I have recently gotten into tennis, and I also do Pilates in LA. It’s funny, because once you start working to really do an hour, you start feeling so much better that it becomes something that you make time to do. We as human beings always make time for the things we really want. I just feel so much better when I start working out that you just find time to do it.”

On Cooking: Amber prefers to make her own food — even when she works a 90-hour week — so that she can control what ingredients go in (mostly vegetables and lean protein). Amber reads food labels — and if she sees an ingredient she doesn’t recognize, she often leaves the item on the shelf. That might limit you in the snack aisle, but it will lead you to eat fewer processed foods. “You feel better when you’re eating food that retains nutritional value,” she says.

[From Women’s Health]

Yeah, this is the usual generic fitness advice that most features in women’s health magazines tend to issue on a monthly basis. Nothing new there. However, the part about Amber “ditching” her co-stars for after-work drinks (and more) is actually pretty cool and interesting. She’s a professional and not a casting couch type, and that leads one to believe that Amber isn’t merely a flash in the acting pan.

However, this article certainly implies that Johnny Depp was completely game for drinking with the cast and crew on a nightly basis, right? That’s not terribly surprising, for he’s been hitting the bottle hard lately, and it shows.

Gah. I considered myself 100% straight until she burst on the scene. She (and Sofia Vergara) make me question my sexuality. Ok, not really, but pretty close. She’s a very sexy woman.

  2. Roma says:

I love whenever actresses admit to not only needing to work out, but also how challenging it is to keep up the motivation.

I also think she’s wicked talented. There are so many up and comers that make it clear Lindsay Lohan will soon be all but forgotten.

  3. sosuzy says:

She is beautiful.. there is nothing more to say.

  4. rooci says:

Whaaaaaaat? Does anyone else think she looks insanely skinny in those pictures? Her waist is non-existent. Her thighs are barely bigger than her arms. Eat something!

And, her face is all wonky–she has ceiling eyes like Audrina in the first picture and she always seems to have a really tense mouth and squishy face. But, I also don’t think Scarlet Johanson is attractive either–she looks like she’s having an allergic reaction to something–and I think Amber and Scarlet look similar in general. Not cute. I think Amber is probably a nice person and I think she’s a good actress, but she ain’t all that in the face-ular region.

    • Turtle Dove says:

      She does look thinner.

Do the words women’s health magazine and photoshop go together? You’d think that a “health” magazine geared towards women would ease up on the photo tweaking….

    • normades says:

I think the unreal waistline is due to a wee bit of photoshopping…she does have a horsey face, but it’s a nice horsey.

      • Cherry says:

I agree, her waistline looks a lot thinner on the cover photo than on the other pics. I don’t understand why they would do that- a fitness magazine of all things, claiming to promote a healthy lifestyle, and celebreting ‘sexy curves’! Hello, Women’s health. Barely-there boobies and a photoshopped freaky waist do not qualify as ‘sexy curves.’

      • marie says:

Definite photo shopping there and she has a horsey face. She’s attractive but sexy…nah.

  5. ShanKat says:

She’s ridonkulously pretty, and I liked her on “The Playboy Club.” Probably good for her career that it was canned.

  6. danielle says:

I’m glad that she gave a little shout out to non processed food. I know not to mainline potato chips and stuff, but until my bf was diagnosed with high blood pressure, I never paid attention to sodium – it’s everywhere! They pour salt in your pancakes! And your marinara sauce! Plus all kinds of extra gunk.

    • islandwalker says:

Danielle- Right on- on the salt/sodium. Last month the doctor told my husband he would be dead within the month if he didn’t cut out sodium. It’s insane. It’s in EVERYTHING and the amounts are astronomical. Even some yogurts are too high for him to eat. Crazy! Canned tomatoes, cookies cereals. All sauces are out. You really have to be vigilant. I live on an island where fresh produce is non-existent so it’s a challenge. Good luck to you and you BF!

      • edogfemme says:

I live on an island, too and I’m SOOO sodium sensitive. I look forward to fresh, non-processed foods in a CRAZY way.

        OH…and girlfriend is so photoshopped…why?!?

      • Elizabeth says:

please tell me that you are at least on an island with gorgeous beaches surrounded by warm soothing waters (but no fresh fruit)!

  7. Turtle Dove says:

Great advice and practical. It’s nice to hear that she actually works out because so many actresses don’t admit that… oddly. What she says about food is true too. Processed food is a science experiment and far from being healthy.

  8. Orange Cone says:

when I see her name, sometimes my brain reads it as Amber Beard…I dont know why?

    anyways, I like her attitude.

  9. Kaboom says:

It keeps filling me with a little bit of sadness that she’s playing for the other team, I’d gladly trade her for Paris Hilton or Kim Cantkeepaman.

  10. Jag says:

She’s got a great body, but there’s nothing she can do about her bitch face. She actually looks more bitchy in that first picture than KStew!

  11. NM9005 says:

Very impressed. Sometimes there’s nothing to bitch about…this is that time for me =).

  12. Seal Team 6 says:

I figured the “abandoning lesbian ways” thing was just the usual straight-guy fantasy/lesbian just hasn’t met the right man thing.

    Professional, runner, clean-eater, and gorgeous.

  13. okeydokey says:

Really like her. She’s real and fairly normal, as actresses go.

  14. mainstream says:

It’s sad that some people still think it’s odd for a woman not to bed hop her way to the top in Hollywood.

    • Alexis says:

Yeah I knew as soon as I saw it it was photoshopped. I was like…craziness, this is a HEALTH magazine!

Too bad impressionable women (not just teens, let’s be real here), will take this as truth and feel bad about themselves and/or develop unhealthy relationships with food. Heard’s got an awesome body for real – one that she’s willing to admit she works hard for. Why did they need to ‘shop her so much?

  15. Bitchbelying says:

    Beautiful woman.

  16. anna says:

    Oh bitch, please!
She is stunning and professional doing her work, nothing wrong about it.

    Photoshop is awful, not her.

  17. Zoe says:

Her waistline is definitely photoshopped. there are plenty of controversies over covers like this, as many of the stars themselves have expressed their irritation at these falsehoods. It’s SO unhealthy for consumers to see images like this. I wish we had a Standards Authority like the UK does that banned this type of nonsense. It’s so destructive to women’s collective psyche.

  18. Callumna says:

Jezus H. Christ. Look at the original pic Turtle Dove put up.

Women’s Death magazine digitally turned her into an Auschwitz victim when in real life she looks normal and good.

I was going to say she’s too skinny and that’s not a healthy look, but it’s just Women’s Death magazine sending out a horrifyingly irresponsible image to females and not the young lady herself.

  19. Joana says:

Amber was caught kissing Francesca Gregorini. She is Ringo Starr’s stepdaughter and Portia de Rossi ex-girlfriend.

  20. Joanna says:

Great photoshop job! Now if only I knew how to do that to my pictures. I don’t believe any pictures I see in magazines. It’s like how on Dancing with the Stars, people look 10 times better than they do in real life.

  21. mainstrem says:

So I guess Henry Rollins would approve of her then:

  22. Angpangie says:

This is another super bland bitch in the same league as K-Stew.

  23. sisterpink says:

I generally don’t get around to leaving comments, even when I mean to, but this woman makes my blood boil, and not in a good way. I was on a film shoot for one day with her in Austin, Texas, and she treated people horribly. I had several actress friends there on other days – all very chill, down to earth people – and they observed the same behavior. I should probably be charitable and chalk it up to her being young and “new on the scene” (this was a few years ago so she was even younger and newer than she is now), but it’s difficult given that situation. There were so many kind, attractive (I mention that since it’s a big deal in the “industry”) and talented women there who could run circles around her in terms of acting ability and from what I could observe, common decency, and she just acted like a total brat. Oh well – don’t know what I’m expecting – it’s not exactly a fair business, or a fair world for that matter. Who knows – I should throw her a bone. Maybe she’s grown up.

  24. ane says:

she will never replace scarlett though, she has a smokin bod but so do alot of celebs, she comes across as vein and false looking and nothing geuine beautiful or charming like scarlett, makes me sad she gets roles over far more beautiful and talented actress’ just because she’s willing to take of her clothes. but then again if she didnt do that wouldnt be were she is-look at old photos of her-scary.
